Search by rating

How can I search by rating in Prelude.  It would seem to be a basic requirement - show all 1 star, all 2 star ect.
I see I can rate my clips in Metadata but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to hide all unrated material.
Hoping someone can help..

How are you searching?
If you're in the search window and click a single star, then you will get every photos that has a star. And that includes all the pics that have 2,3,4 or 5 stars, and it's an 'any' search. For more refined searching, use a Smart Album

  • Buggy search-by-rating function!

The search by rating function is completely busted in my iPhoto 08. The function doesn't filter properly. Like when I search for two star photos (or any other rating), I still get photos with all kinds of ratings. Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?

  • How Can I View Only The Search Results

I'm very frustrated trying to display only my 5 star rated images so that I can export them.  WhenI search I get all the five star images plus all the other images in stacks with them.  How can I just ge the search result images?

For that you would need to unstack your images from the stack. If your image is a part of the stack and it meets the desired search criteria ( in your case 5 star), then complete stack is shown in the search results.
If you want to bypass complete stack out of your search , you can use Find by Details (Metadata) search as -
    Rating is 5
    And
Stack is not in a stack

  • Smart folders seems not to work with star rating. Is there a fix?

I Rate photos with a five star rating either on iPhoto or Adobe Bridge CS5. When I create a smart folder setting the search attribute to "Rating equals 5" nothing appears on the search.

    Sorry,
I think I misunderstood your question. You were talking about smart folders in the Finder and not about smart albums in iPhoto, right?  "Rating equals 5" does not work on any of my machines, neither in Snow leopard nor in Lion. The problem seems to be how to represent the rating in the search string. If I search for "Rating is not 5" the smart folder contains plenty of pictures, also those with a rating of five. Does anyone know how the rating is coded to be used in a search string in the Finder?

  • Rating Versions, and then finding them

I have been trying to rate a given version of a photo with 5 stars, and then find it at a later date by searching in the library for all photos with a rating of "5 stars", however unless I rate both the master image AND the version that I like as "5 stars", the search by rating search won't find the image / version. That said, do you have to rate the master, even if what you really are rating as "5 stars" is a version of the master, and not the master?
    Thanks.

    Hi Calfee,
While version as releated they are conceptual a unique image, and as such should be rated like any other image. That said the are also the concept of stacks. The default behavoir when creating a new version is to stack the new version with the original. And if you search finds the original you will also have the rest of the stack. So far so good, but now things becomes a bit more complicated. If you changes the images that goes to the top of the stack, and the image is not rated all the images in the stack is not found. Or if you in you search specifies than it should ignore stacks, only the images in you stack that are rated are found.
    Hopes that clearifies things somewhat.
    Best regards - Per.

  • How can I set up a smart album that looks for keywords?

    Hi everyone,
I'm in the middle of a rethink on my image management and am wanting to setup smart albums that will search for and display images that have a certain keyword. When I create a new smart album to do this, I'm only given the ability to choose to search for rating and calendar criteria; the keywords and import session options are greyed out. My images have keywords assigned, so where do I go from here?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

OK, a step forward. It seems that if I create a smart album it will only look for keywords in the project that it is contained in.
Perhaps someone can help me then: I keep a collection of albums for each person that is featured in a photograph. These albums are stored outside of the projects that the images are stored in so I can have a collection of images that show person X from all the different shoots.
What I want to do now is keyword each image with the person's name (as a keyword) and then have a Smart album that will pick out all of their photos from my entire library, not just a certain project. How can I do this?

  • How do I create a smart album that contains all pictures with no keywords?

    Hi,
I have many pictures which currently don't have any keywords at all. Now I want to tag these pictures with keywords. How can I create a smart album for those pictures without any keywords? So that I can then work just on these pictures...
Note that I don't want to find pictures that don't have a specific keyword. I want to find all those pictures which have none keyword at all.
    Thanks,
    Rainer

Well, there's a way but it's not great...
Start with a smart album at whatever level you want to keyword everything under. Set to search where "rating is greater than or equal to unrated".
Select all images, and apply a keyword like "NeedsKeyword". Yes, even the one with keywords already.
Now change the smart folder - use the "+" menu on the upper right corner of the query box to add an "IPTC" search. In that row use the dropdown by IPTC to find "keywords", then set the one next to it to "is", then type "NeedsKeyword" (or whatever you used) into the text box. Now go up to the top of the query box and change the "Match" dropdown to be "all" instead of "Any".
What we've done here is find all images where the only keyword is "NeedsKeyword", all the ones you've done with keywords already will not appear.
Now, copy these images into an Album (not smart album) for tagging - this is because as soon as you tag an image it will vanish and you may wish to apply more than one tags).
After you are done tagging, you want to remove the tag - this is trickier than you might think, as you need to remove it from images tagged before in addition to the images in the Album you just made.
First, change your smart folder to once again find all images by unchecking the IPTC keyword search. Now you'll see all images - but you're not done yet! You cannot batch undo a keyword in a smart folder, even though you can batch add. Select all of the images and drag into the Album you were using to keyword. Inside an Album the keyword metadata inspector shows only common keywords, NeedsKeyword should be one of them - remove it and it will be gone, and all your images tagged. Now you can remove the Album and the Smart Album you created.
Harder than it needs to be, I'd say - I've submitted feedback you need some way to search for untagged images. Heck, it may already be in 1.1! Or Joe might know of an easier way that has eluded me.
    Good luck!

    thank you movie lady

In the View Menu uncheck 'Show Event Titles'
    Or use a Smart Album:

  • Suggestion: App store search by user rating!  Am I alone?

When I search for apps on the iTunes app store, there's typically so many that I want to see the ones that are rated the highest first. Am I alone in this view? At the very least there should be an option to sort the list.
Google became the king of search in large part because they put such heavy ranking emphasize on third party links which is the web's way of rating a site as good. Why does Apple not do the same thing with its user ratings on the app store? As far as I can tell, the rankings are not influenced much at all by the app ratings which forces me to scan multiple pages looking for the best rated ones.
Is this the best way to post this suggestion to Apple or is there a better place? Anyone know if this enhancement is planned?

Nope you're not alone I totally agree. I also think being able to search alphabetically together with user rating would be more of a plus. Other ideas are to add searching by the type of device and os s person has. It cuts time on searching for apps that are compatible with your device. I spend alot of time searching for games and these search features coming from a mother with 2 daughters one being borderline severely autistic I just don't have the time and end up staying up very late which is not any better.

  • How to find top 10 highest rated documents from KM folder using search opti

    Hi All,
We have requirement to display top 10 highest rated documents.
We have tried the top 10 latest documents scenario by changing default sort field as <b>cm_rating</b>.But it showing the latest rated documents not highest rated documents.
Is there any way to do this, please suggest any documents or ideas?
    Thanks & Best Regards
    Gopal

    Hi,
A simple method to do that is use taxonomies.
You can create un index using Trex Search and Classification service.
After that, you create its taxonomies (query based), you must create excellent, good, fair, poor and very poor folders.
Using Taxonomy Query Builder iview you classify it in this way:
Excellent folder --> IF rating is Excellent
    so on....
    IF rating is Good
    IF rating is Fair
    IF rating is Poor
    IF rating is Very Poor
Then, using layout set you can show top 10 for instance.
Don't forget to active rating service in your repository.
    Patricio.

  • ITunes Search API returns Different Rating Count

    Hi everyone,
When I view this item (iBooks) from iTunes:
    https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/ibooks/id364709193?mt=8
I got the rating like this:
Stars 3.5 | 79 ratings (Average Rating For Current Version)
Stars 3.5 | 9264 ratings (Average Rating For All the Versions)
But when using the the Search API https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=364709193, I got:
    "averageUserRatingForCurrentVersion":3.5, "userRatingCountForCurrentVersion":608,
    "averageUserRating":3.5, "userRatingCount":83819
The User Rating Cont numbers don't match: 79 vs 608 and 9264 vs 83819.
    Can anyone explain  the differences?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robin

Hey Robin - just saw this and I've been digging through this stuff the last few days.  I think I know the answer to your question.. its that you have the canada store in the web page reference and in the search API you arent limiting it to just Canada..
So esentially you're seeing the difference between this:
    https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/ibooks/id364709193?mt=8
    and this:
    https://itunes.apple.com/app/ibooks/id364709193?mt=8

  • Trying to install search add-ons (top-rated, safe). I click install, restart and nothing happens. They do not appear in the search plugins folder.

Starting up with a new computer, I've been trying to install two search engine add-ons: easy youtube video downloader and
search IMDB. They are top rated so presumably safe and approved. I go through the whole process of installing them, and restart Firefox as instructed but nothing happens. I looked in the search plugins folder in Firefox (Program Files). I can see the search add-ons that were there when I first started on this computer, but none of the ones I'm trying to add are there. I've gone around and around on this repeatedly with no success. Please help.

Addon search engines aren't in the Firefox program files \searchplugins\ folder, they are in the \searchplugins\ folder in the user's respective '''Profile''' folder.
