Search customisation

Hi there,
I'm a fairly new user to Robohelp 9.0.2. I'm generating html help from linked Word documents, and we've just deployed the first release.
I'm starting to get some questions about search functionality. People are wanting to search on "mode" without getting "model" for example, and vice versa. I can't see many optins for search, beyond enabling/disabling substring search, and hiding the summaries.
Is there anyway to influence or customise the search results that people get back, such as flagging certain entries as the #1 search entry for a certain topic. Or perhaps any documentation on what users can do to search better?

Hi,
You can enable ranking for your search results. Be sure to uncheck "Hide rank in search results" in your SSL settings. Next to that, you can also determine whether a user sees a small description of the page content in the search pane. But that is it. What you can set in the SSL settings is all there is. If you need more fine grained options, take a look a zoom search: http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/zoomsearch/zoomsearch.htm.

If You are in ECC 6 the option in the search crieteria is Advanced search for material using search engine.
Here you need to fill both Material type and Material Group manually.

Search Result Customisations

I am trying to customise search results by creating my own custom version of the GroupedResultsViewHelper class. I've configured the dynamic discovery and thats all working. However the problem i'm having is with the nature of the customisation itself.
I require search results to open in a new window only if the document is crawled in from a particular URL. But the anchor tag is a javascript function with a whole bunch of numeric arguments, so its hard to tell where the document actually came from. Hence I can't programmatically determine if a search result should open in a new window or not.
Anyone tried anything similar?

For card results, the call (from GroupedResultsViewHelper)
model.GetResultEODField(resultNum, PTINTRINSICS.PT_PROPERTY_DOCUMENTURL)
will give you the actual clickthrough URL as a String, and you can do whatever checks you need to it.

Customising which apps appear in search

I use Google calendar, and want to activate my already created (and pinned to start) shortcut by pressing the windows key, and typing "cal", then pressing enter just like I did in win 7, and win 8 before the 8.1 update.
Now, post update, "cal" finds loads of unwanted stuff, but not my Google calendar shortcut. I have to keep typing "calen" before it appears.
Is there some way to customise which apps appear when searching? Ideally I would like it to appear, and be able to move it to the top of the list so it's the default option...
Yes, I know I could create icons and keyboard shortcuts, but I would like this to be possible for all my applications, and for me it's a lot faster to press 3 keys than to move to the mouse.

I'm made to wonder... Why would I want to SEARCH for something FROM a particular place? If I knew where it was and wanted to organize it by categories and look it up that way...
I'd use a start menu. As it turns out, I do that.
When I want to SEARCH for something, it's because I don't want to take my mind off what I'm doing and concentrate on finding a tool.

actually works better than things did before and "coming up with random stuff" that's just
different. Nowadays Microsoft seems to think the latter is sufficient. The fashion industry is based on "new and different is better". A more useless and wasteful entity than the fashion industry there has never been.

HOW TO CUSTOMISE SEARCH USING WWSBR_SEARCH_PAGE?

As it is not possible to control the look and feel of the native search in Portal (10g), I am trying to use the recommended package, wwsbr_search_page to customise the search functionality. I have read about this package in http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/html/plsqldoc/pldoc1014/wwsbr_search_page.html but there is no mention on how to deploy it. Could anyone give me some ideas how to use this package?

How to customise OID search results page

How do you customise the user search results page in OID 902?
The default is for the username and email address to display. I wish the first and last names also to display.

Customising the google search and new tabs inconsistency

1. Is there a way to customise the google search bar to the effect of what [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/50999/ this] and [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/51000/ this] add-ons do?
2. I don't like the inconsistency of FF3 when it comes to opening new tabs: CTRL+T opens a new tab at the very right, whereas clicking on a link or searching from the context menu opens the new tab next to the currently open tab. There should be a way to make FF work one way or the other.

Customising the Search Portlet

Is it possible to customise the Search Portlet that is provided with Portal ?
We would like to use a different banner (to keep it consistent with bespoke portlets that have been developed) and also make some changes to the results page.
We are running Oracle Portal v3.0.9.

here's what I did:
1. I placed the search portlet on a page.
2. Viewed the html-source of that page.
3. Copied the part of the search portlet.
4. Modified the source to suit my needs.
5. Placed a HTML-portlet on the page, and pasted the HTML in it.

By default, only a search field and search button comes.

Need help to develop a customised search BSP page

Hi Every one.
I need to develop a custom BSP search page which is a modified version of search.htm page of HCM_LEARNING bsp application.
here we need to replace the Qualification dropdown boxes with 2 qualifications in tree format where first one is 1. Prerequisite and 2. Aspired . the values will be in node format and the other functionality should work the same way as it works in search.htm page.
How to handle 3 events now?? 1. Node click on Prerequisite Tree
2. Node Click on Aspired Tree
3. Find button click
Only when the find button is clicked , The search should happen not on any node click.
Could you please suggest me some thing how to proceed??

Customised metadata - search for multiple fields?

Background: I'm logging a STACK of footage and attempting to arrange it all by a series of different keyword categories (the day the footage was shot, location, camera type, content type, key players, etc). Each category has multiple variables (ie: in the camera category the options are Sony FS700, Canon 5D, Canon 600D, GoPro). I'm adding custom fields via the PPr Project Metadata>Add Property function using a simple Boolean tickbox.
Question: Is there a way to sort and search the custom fields? For example if I wanted to pull up all the footage shot on day 5, with the Sony, that comprises of interview content with a particular person is there a way to search for all these fields? I've been able to search for one keyword if I tag the material but so far searching and organising by multiple fields has eluded me.
The long way round is to create multiple bins and/or sequences for each variable in each category by hand, but that's a little tedious and has the potential to bloat the project. Any ideas to solve the problem? I've come from FCP a few months ago so the metadata side of PPro is still something I'm getting my head around. Thanks for reading!
EDIT: I'm running PPro CC for reference and can install and use Prelude if it helped.

For the time being I'm using a workaround employing titles above the footage to signify the relevant categories, and tagging significant moments in clips with markers, but it is perplexing.. Premiere seems to employ metadata in a phenomenal way - such that I haven't come across in any other mainstream editor - I just wish it had the functionality to sort and manage all that metadata it is producing beyond the search bar in the Project window.
Premiere gurus and Adobe affiniados: am I missing something obvious?

Customisation of the search message.

I have a PRODUCT application and around 200 products has been added in the list.When i start searching the product , only 100 items are displayed with message "100 items found".Where can a change the settings of this?

Hello Adity,
Next to the advance searh you have a Settings link to change the user settings.
Here you can change the number of records in search result by setting the parameter
'Specify Maximum Number of Search Results'.

TS3.0 is not deploying customised search directories

Hi,
Teststand2.0 deployment used to distribute Testexec.ini that contains serach directories. In Teststand3.0, testexec.ini is not updated with customised settings while deploying. Please suggest a solution.

I downloaded a free trial of Zone Alarm and after uninstalling there is a 'Zone Alarm Security Customized Web Search' bar.
How do I remove, not hide this feature.

How to customise Global Directotry Search in Cisco IP Phone?

When I search Global Directory in Cisco IP Phone, it show results in comma separated (e.g. LastName,FirstName) but I am trying to show it like(FirstName,LastName). Can anyone please help me? How can we do this?

Which CCM version do you have? It might be doable for CCM4 since you have access to the asp pages that create the directory, but you have no file level access on CCM5+ meaning you're SOL there.
