Search engine doesn't find vcards

The search engine in Address book doesn't find cards that exist in my ALL. They were cards imported via Time Machine. Any way I can get AB to index it's content ?

One week later, I'm still hoping (praying ?) for a solution...

  • Search engine can't find my website

    Hi,
I have recently published my first website done in Adobe Muse and I have the problem that the search engines don't find my site.
I have added some keywords into every page of the site, (page properties) but it doesn't help. Is there anything else I should try to do, is there any other ways to go or what is wrong?
    Thankful for your help

    Hi,
A site appearing on google search result depends on various factors. There is no defined time when the site will be indexed in google. It may take a week or a month as well. You can submit your site to the google's webmasters tool to expedite the process but still no definite time.
    Now ,
For SEO (from a very simplified view) there are two primary factors that contribute to where your page ranks within Google. The first is how well the content of your page(s) correlate to the specific search phrase someone entered in Google. And the second is how "popular" your site is, measured primarily by how many other sites/sources contain links to your pages relative to the popularity of other sites that had a similar correlation to the search phrase.
A 60-second course on SEO is:
    1) Pick ~3 search phrases you want to optimize for. Then work to have those phrases and the words in those phrases appear regularly in the content of your pages, paying special attention to .html file names, image file names, headings (marked with h1, h2, etc. tags), page titles, your domain name, image alt text, the text content of the actual pages, etc.
    2) Leverage Twitter, Facebook, Blogs in your industry, etc. to generate interest in your site and thus generate links back to your site.
    3) Submit your sitemap.xml to Google using Google's Webmaster Tools so they're aware of your site and more likely to re-index it sooner rather than later.
There's tons more to SEO, but that's a start.

I have both Motorola and Rocketfish behind-the-head earphones.  Both work fine on my IPhone 4.  But the bluetooth setting on my IPad only "searches" and doesn't find the devices.  Any ideas? (Using Latest OS for IPad

I had the same problem for the last 2 weeks and today it just started working with nothing changing.  I've also read reports of others having it just start working today.  Give it a shot again.  I think it was a problem that AT&T sorted out.

  • Search Engines can't find me!

Hello people, I have recently created a website using iWeb. The problem is that no search engines can find it. No matter what you type, even the actual domain, it still can't find anything.
FTP client I used is FileZilla.
Hosting Services etc are through SiteGround
    Software is iWork '08
    Any ideas?

First you have to let the search engines know that your website exists!

  • RoboHelp Search Engine doesn't work properly in Mac browsers

On a Mac, the Search engine actually lists every single
number and word that has been indexed by the search engine, and to
the right of each word it posts the number of times that word
appears in the project. But it doesn't let you type a word to
search for. There is no text field where you can type. Can anyone
    help me with this?

I think that's how the Mac interprets the DHTML required for
the view to replicate what you see in Windows. Try a sample layout
with "Java Applet > Pure HTML" selected in the third Properties
window, then view it in a Windows browser.
    Good luck,

  • I want Google in the upper-right search bar. All defaults have been erased. Clicking on "Manage Search Engines" doesn't offer Google as an option. What do I do?

Running various anti-spyware programs to fix a Google search hijack/redirect problem, somehow all the default options that are originally supplied by Firefox for search engines in the search bar to the right of the URL bar have disappeared. In the "Manage Search Engines" window, the "Restore Defaults" button is greyed out and not operational. The "Get more search engines" link takes me to a long list of search engines which does NOT show the usual defaults, like Google. How do I get Google back into the search bar? (You correctly show my current browser and OS.)

Do you see the default search engines in the searchplugins folder in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) ?
If not then reinstall Firefox on top of the current installation.

  • Search engines can not find my iWeb site!

Could anyone please help me, I am rather new on this subject. A few weeks ago I published my own weblog at web.mac.com. But I noticed that Google, nor any other search engine, can find my page. I visited Google's Webmaster Tools page
    https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/sitestatus?hl=en
and entered my the URL of my weblog
    http://web.mac.com/tina.k.noume/iWeb/loketlindelaan/Home/Home.html
This is what Google told me:
"You have entered a URL to a file. Please enter the site URL."
I do not understand! What can I do?
    Thanking you for you help!
    Tina

Do you mean search engines do not accept my URL just
    because it is a blog?
    What can I do?
    No, Kyn's link didn't work because it's a blog.
I don't know what Google's deal is with your site... weird...

  • My homepage comes up but my search engine doesn't work

when i type into the search engine or web address, a new page loads and just shows as loading.

Did you manage to update to Firefox 20?
Which home page are you using?
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

  • Bridge search criteria doesn't find files but the exact same criteria finds files in the Finder

I am wondering if anyone has been having the same problem that I have been having. I can't seem to get any results back from the Bridge when I create a smart collection but when I enter the exact same criteria in the Finder I get lots of results. I took a screen shot of both programs if any one can catch something I am doing wrong. To me it looks exactly like the same search criteria in both apps.
    Here are the screen shots:

    Hi Holly,
I've been doing a lot of reading on and off and my office just decided to get a server and either extensis portfolio, or canto cumulus, both are software packages that have been designed from the beginning to do exactly what we want.
The drag is that they are expensive, but I was spending so much time trying to tweak out bridge and trying different scripts and blah blah blah, that I wasn't taking pictures, so that's what we decided to go with.
I've worked with Canto Cumulus in another job and it is really great, some people told me to check out extensis so I'm looking into both right now.
Sorry, but that's the best solution for us, just use something else instead of bridge for the network.

  • Some of my thread doesn't show in "Forum Search" engine

    Dear all,
I try to locate some of my threads in Apex Listener section, where I have at least 3 of them there, but strangely the search engine doesn't return for such query. Other threads that reside in other section do it without any problem. Any advice?
    Best regards,
    Val

Yes unfortunately it is the only way. Oracle is unable to provide search functionality as it is only a database company, so it is recommended that if you need to search for information you should use Google instead.

  • Searching for a term using the Search tab in HTML Help doesn't find all relevant topics.

I'm using the Search tab in the HTML Help window to search for a few words.  But those words are not being located within the topics.  For example, one of the words for which I am searching is Australian.  I can find the topic that contains that word using the Contents tab.  But the Search tab doesn't find it.  I have even tried copying the word from that topic into the Search box but it is not found.
Is there a known bug in HTML Help search capabilities?

Is this a stand alone CHM file or is it merged? If it is merged, does the word appear in the search in the CHM containing the topic is searched? I assume you've checked that your Stop List doesn't contain the word being searched?

  • Spotlight doesn't find search results in .HTML file contents

When I use Spotlight to search, it doesn't find any .HTML file contents. If I rename an .HTML file to use a .TXT extension, the contents are found. Is there a way to enable Spotlight to find contents in .HTML files?

I remembered that used to be problem, so I just checked on my local version of my site, and Spotlight found the files on the basis of content without a problem. So I took a look at my installed mdimporters in /Library/Spotlight, to see what may have led to this happy turn of events. I thought perhaps the iWeb mdimporter might be doing it, but was unable to find a reference to HTML in its type declarations. I then took a look at in /System/Library/Spotlight and discovered that RichText.mdimporter has a declaration for public.html as a content type. You should have that mdimporter installed by default, but you might take a look to make sure it is there.
If the mdimporter is there, but the html files aren't being indexed, it could be that whatever program you are using to create them isn't giving them the appropriate content type. I code by hand using TextEdit, which saves them with the following metadata entry:
    kMDItemContentType = "public.html"
    kMDItemContentTypeTree = (
    "public.html",
    "public.text",
    "public.data",
    "public.item",
    "public.content"
They are then evidently indexed without problem by the RichText.mdimporter. You might try opening one of your html docs in TextEdit (as plain text), resave, and see if Spotlight then picks up the content of the file. Of course, the content means the words that people see when they look at the page in a browser. If the content you are talking about is stuff that is inside an html tag, you are out of luck. I know of NO way to get Spotlight to find that. EasyFind will though, but it is a brute force search and will take awhile, even when restricted to a particular folder.

  • Ever since about 1 year ago I cannot sort search engines (ctrl+k) in a way other than alphabetically. I used to be able to. how to fix it?

    As per article:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-bar-easily-choose-your-search-engine?esab=a&as=aaq#w_re-order-search-engines
Re-order search engines doesn't work for me. It always reverts back to alphabetically. It's been going on for a year now and lots of FF upgrades. How do you fix it? Regards.

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?esab=a&s=troubleshooting&r=3&as=s#w_5-reinstall-firefox here].
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

  • Finder doesn't find anymore

In the past, I've used Finder to find large files, say, anything over 10mb, so I can delete unnecessary ones and clean up my disk.  I'll set the criteria as "Size" "is greater than" "10" "mb".  However, in the last month or so, it no longer works.  When I do a search, it doesn't find anything.  The status at the bottom says "Searching This Mac" and stays that way forever.  In the past, it started listing files immediately.  Anybody have any idea what could be wrong?
I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8.  Latest software updates always applied.  Thanks.
    Rob

I figured it out myself.  Awhile back, I noticed that the Mac would seem to hang, and I couldn't do anything.  Activity Monitor showed me the cause of the problem was a program called mdworker.  I did some research on the web, and found out that mdworker is part of a program called Spotlight.  I never used Spotlight, never even heard of it, and didn't see any use for it, since we have Finder.  So I followed the steps to disable it.
I re-enabled Spotlight, and that fixed the Finder problem.  So apparently Finder relies on Spotlight for the Find function.  It doesn't need it for the normal file managing purposes.
I guess I'll just have to put up with Spotlight/mdworker hanging my system occasionally.
