Search failed on OUD as Proxy

Question

Installed OUD and configure as Load balancing mode - Failover.
Perform Search : ldapsearch -h "RHEL5-OUD-TRAINING" -p 1389 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w password1 -b "uid=kvaughan, ou=People, dc=xyz,dc=co, dc=in" -s base "(objectclass=*)"
Error
ldap_search: Invalid credentials
While searching like :
ldapsearch -h "RHEL5-OUD-TRAINING" -p 1389 -b "uid=kvaughan, ou=People, dc=xyz,dc=co, dc=in" -s base "(objectclass=*)"
Getting entry
ldapsearch -h "RHEL5-OUD-TRAINING" -p 1389 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w password1 -b "" -s base "(objectclass=*)"
version: 1
dn:
objectClass: top
objectClass: ds-root-dse
Why this?? is there any configuration issue.

Hi  Scott,
According to your description, my understanding is that you encountered the error Application Server Administration job failed for service instance Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchServiceInstance.
For troubleshooting your issue, please try adding the search service  account  on the Server local administrator group and see if it is related to permission issue. Then try stopping the Timer Service,
clearing the Configuration Cache and restarting the Timer Service:
