Search feature issue on Curve 8300

I'm having a problem with my Blackberry Curve 8300 Search function:
I type in a word that I know is in appointments in the Search Text field and click on Calendar.  The function finds multiple results as it should:
Finished (13)
Calendar (13)
But when I click to expand, I only get see 10 of results out of the actual 13 it states it found and I can't see the results of the other 3 results.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
I have not heard of a video file length limitation.
Transfer the file to the PC via My COmputer, then play it with Quicktime.
This will tell you if the file is corrupted, truncated, or has a valid eof.
Thanks,

  • Music feature on BB curve 8300

    Hello,
I know this sounds bad but I never realized that I could use my BB for music.
Can someone please walk me thru what I need to do in order to activate this feature.

Put a song on your BlackBerry -- preferably on the Media Card -- and play it.
Look at your Media icon > Musc. You should have some sample songs there already.
So, find the MP3 files of music you like and move them to your Media card, see my instructions below to move them from your PC.
So, download your music you like or purchase, to your PC, and then read below.
    1. Go to Options >> Media Card
(some themes or BlackBerrys may call this "Settings >> Media Card")
    2. Check the following settings (if they are not listed this way, then change to reflect the following:
    a) Media Card Support: On
    b) Mass Storage Mode Support: On
    c) Auto Enable Mass Storage: Yes
    3. Save the settings and exit
You can also use BlackBerry Media Sync for your PC or Mac.

  • 2 Issues with Curve -- Camera and Application Connectivity

I'm having 2 issues with my Curve 8300.  I tried upgrading the SW to 4.5 but it didn't help.  Any ideas?
    - The camera is no longer working.  When I try taking pictures, it saves a JPG file but the file to the assigned folder but the file is smaller than it should be (usually ~6KB) and it doesn't render as an image.
    - I'm trying to use an application (the NYT Crossword Puzzle) but it gives me the error message "Unable to connect to the server.  Please try again later.", even though I do have connectivity for e-mail and web browsing.  I tried adjusting the application permissions in advanced settings but it didn't help.
    Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
As far as the camera I would try the following:
No data will be lost when doing the following: pull the battery while the device is ON. Replace after a minute, Let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is fixed, Thanks
If that doesn't work I would suspect a low memory condition please read this link:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB14213&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
I do not have a definitive answer for the cross word. app. Could it be possible to test it off hours, to see if the servers at the NYT are in
    fact busy?
    Thanks
Please remember to resolve your thread. Put the check mark in the green box that contained your answer! Thanks

  • Mail search feature not working

Not a good day today but to top it off, my Mail search feature doesn't seem to be working.  In the past I've praised OSX Mail search features and enjoyed the instant results all whilst bashing the inop feature Outlook and Notes try to utilize.  I'm afraid to say the OSX Lion Mail search feature is completely non-functional.  As I was searching for this issue through the support topics, I noticed this very topic appear then quickly disappear.  I couldn't duplicate the search again for anything.  Hmm.
Also, what's the dealy with opening a PDF in Mail with Preview and your last 5 PDF's open as well?  Uncool.  And I want Safari to open with my Home page, not the last page I visited.
At least the Spotlight will still identify the messages I'm wrangling for.
No need to reply... just need to vent a bit.

    LaraCroft_NYC wrote:
A lot of things are broken in LION. Not recommended for professionals (only iPad users).
But here's a way to make better use of Mail Search:
In the new Mac LION MAIL app, it's not apparent that you can search for any part of any email address the way you could before with any previous OS, for when you type partial email text in the MAIL search field, it simply gives you a drop-down list of wrong or limited suggestions and none of the suggestions are email addresses, but people's names. I don't want to search by name, I want to search by email address. (Maybe I'm the only one who does this.) If two different email addresses have the same associated name (which I have), it chooses the wrong one and searches for the wrong email address!
    But there is a way:
    1) Select the mailbox you want to search (if any).
    2) Type in the search field:
              to: any_string ["return" or "enter"]
              OR
              from: any_string ["return" or "enter"]
    3) Your entry will change from this:
    to this:
    4) Notice that after you press "return" or "enter", your "to:" (or "from:") becomes a pull-down-menu button and the MAIL's silly choices go away. If you click the button, you get this:
and you can change your choice.
    3) Strangely, "to:" or "from:" MUST be ALL lowercase for this change to take place. (It will still work if "To:" and "FroM:" are all or part uppercase, but the change to a menu button will not occur.)
    4) On the menu bar below the toolbar, you will see the places to search ("All…Selected mailbox…Inbox…Drafts…Sent…Flagged")
    Hello Lara_Croft.
Again, this time with your original fix.  This works for me..  big help until Apple gets this squared away.

  • The App Store Search feature appears to be working again.... I hope!

I had the same issue that many users were reporting earlier today about not being able to use the search feature in the App Store. I have been experimenting for the last 15 minutes or so and it is working for me now.
Keep trying ... It may now be coming back for all soon.

It wasn't working for me earlier and I was experiencing the same weird behavior that everyone else seemed to be experiencing. I was getting the "Can't connect to iTunes Store" message when trying to do a search. Everything else worked, just not the search feature,
Anyway, all seems to be OK now. No bizarre workarounds needed.

  • Using Search Feature

I have a brand new black Classic and used the Search feature for the first time to find a song/artist and ran into a problem that baffled me.
I was looking for "Rock the Boat" by "The Hues Corporation". I first searched for "HUES" and it returned nothing. Then I searched for "ROCK THE" and "Rock the Boat" came up in the results. Can someone explain why I was able to find the song title but not the artist?
Also, what prompted me to use Search in the first place was because I tried to find "The Hues Corporation" manually under "Artist" but could not find it. However, if I searched for the title under "Song", I found it successfully.
Is this a bug? Does this have anything to do with the Album it's in marked as a "Compilation" in ID3 tag?

Does this have anything to do with the Album it's in marked as a "Compilation" in ID3 tag?
    Yes.
If you have imported any CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To change that info right click and select "get info". This brings up a song info window, and by selecting "options" you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.

  • Looking for a search feature

    Hi All,
Is there an ADF component that has search feature of af:inputComboboxListOfValues or af:inputListOfValues but at same time
when user types in it makes a search and suggests likely values [something that we can see in location bars of now-a-days browsers
    or google search].
If No, Any ideas how can I achieve it.
    Regards
    Amit

This works. But there seems to be issues surrounding it. I am not able to select values using keys,
which ever value you select it always goes to 1st value of the dropdown.
It works well when you select it with mouse.
I am not sure if any one else experienced it.
    Thanks
    Amit

  • Search feature in BI 7 works sporadically

    Hi guru jis,
I have been in a BI 7 lab testing some steps for about a month now and have finally run into a few problems which I am not sure how to work around.
Sometimes after I create an object, for example a datasource, then choose to search for it, the search will not find it.  Yet, if I browse to it I am able to locate it in most cases.  It also seems to happen that later on the search starts working, although if I deliberately log off and back into BI or refresh the sessions that doesn't help.  I am unable to give the steps to duplicate since this seems to be a sporadic issue, and so I'd like to first just ask a basic question: are there any known issues or problems with the search feature in BI 7 or something obvious I could be overlooking? Id fifn't seem to have this in BW3.5 although it has been a while since I used it so my memory could be fuzzy.
I can provide a specific example of required.
    TIA

  • Double clicking the home button frequently opens the search feature instead of the multitasking feature. Any solutions?

As stated, double clicking my iPod's home button pulls up the search feature, when what I want is the multitasking feature. This issue is extremely frustrating; I don't even use the search feature! It doesn't matter if I make two deliberate clicks, two rapid clicks, or any variation in between. Sometimes it works, but the majority of the time, it just pulls up search. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a common problem? If so, would updating my iPod to the latest firmware fix the issue? Any help or advice would be appreciated, this is extremely annoying. Thanks!

Search should come if with only one click (from the home page).  Try a Reset, if that does not work, a restore From backup.  If still no go, you probably have a hardware problem.  Make an appointment at the Genius bar of your Apple store.

  • Curve 8300 and tethering

    Hi,
I have a BB Curve 8300 that I'm trying to use to connect my laptop to internet trough tethering. I have Desktop Manager v. 4.2.2 on Windows 7. My carrier is T-Mobile. After I configured the dial-up modem I was able to connect my laptop few times and then suddenly it stopped working. It gets to a point where it says "Verify the username and password" and after a waiting period of 1min it tries to redial again. The carrier said they can't troubleshoot b/c is not a phone bought from them and I need to call RIM for support. I downloaded the trial version software from Tether.com and it works flawless, but the software is another $30 or so. Did anybody experience this type of problem? My entire family has BB also and I'm thinking changing all BB devices with something else if I can't fix this issue. Can somebody from RIM Service department help me out on this or I need to switch to another manufacturer?
    Thank you in advance,
    Dan

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    drusann wrote:

To (re)set your expectations about this site...this site has nothing to do with any formal RIM support whatsoever...rather, this is a user-to-user community of volunteers who try to help out others to the best of their abilities. To receive any formal support from RIM (for free), your case must be escalated from your mobile service provider into RIM...I am actually quite saddened that TM didn't at least offer to do that for you (though, technically speaking, they may be within their rights to refuse you given your circumstances).
There is something called incident support, but it costs to just ask the initial question, since you are bypassing the formal support channels. If you wish to investigate that, you can review it here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/programs/technical/incident.html
What I would suggest is that you follow steps 1-6 in this thread, and then start over normally with your procedure...Desktop Software 4.2.2 is really really old:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
    Good luck!

  • Curve 8300 - Can't send SMS messages - Email set up?

Hi, my dad has an old Blackberry curve 8300 that was a work phone, it is unlocked and can make and receive calls, and receive sms messages, however I cannot get it to send sms messages.
Is this because he never set up an email address with the Blackberry?
It won't let me enter a personal email address, Is this because it was his work phone and is there any way to change this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi dave12384
    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
As it was Work Phone it might have some IT policy enabled on it as a result you may not be able to use those feature .
SMS is Emails service are both different , One comes under Voice level and another under Data Level Services .In order to enjoy Email services on  legacy BlackBerry devices we need BlackBerry Data Plan . When we activate those Data Plan our Carrier push those Service Books to our Device and it will allow us to add any email account on our Blackberry Smartphones. But as your Device is a Work Phone so it may not allow you to add any BIS plan unless those IT policies are removed  from that particular devices .You can refer to this Knowledge base to remove an IT policy but first do a backup of your device  :
KB31291 :  How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory settings using BlackBerry Desktop Software
KB18998 :  How to reset the BlackBerry smartphone to factory defaults
But mind it sometime it is very difficult to remove an IT policy from such devices in which those Policies are deeply coded , but you should try to see if that help.

  • Wifi for curve 8300?

Hi, I'm using an old blackberry curve 8300 since my mobile just broke down. It seems there is no wifi on it and I can't connect to my internet box.
Is it possible to dowload a program that would install it and if yes, could anyone recommend one for me?

    Hello,
    Refer to this please:
    http://worldwide.blackberry.com/blackberrycurve/8300/specifications.jsp
As you suspect, that model does not have WiFi. And what is missing is hardware (the WiFi radio inside the BB). As such, no amount of software can overcome that limitation.
    Good luck!

  • 'Search': Filtering issue

    Hi All,
I have an issue with the search feature.
I have a couple of select lists and text fields (search) with which i am filtering a report(classic).
for select list i tried using the below two options in the region source where conditions.
    1. where emp_name = :P2_EMPNAME
    2. where DECODE(:P2_EMPNAME,'%null%',emp_name,null,emp_name,:P2_EMPNAME);
My issue is, when i use the option 2, the number of records are becoming less. For example, if I have 2,000 records. It becomes 1980 when I apply one filter and if I apply another filter it becomes ~1940. Why is this issue occurring? I am using a static LOV for the data i need to filter.
Please suggest me if there is anything i missing or any work around to filter.
And one other issue I have for text field search, I am fine using a text field filter since i usually follow one of the below formats
    1. where emp_name like lower(:P2_EMPNAME)
    2. where emp_name like '%'||:P2_EMPNAME ||'%'
What if there is a combination of 'capital' and 'small' alphabets in the data? How to overcome this?
I am using 3.1 version and 9i DB
    Thanks All in Advance,
    Daniel

    Daniel,
For your first question, that really depends on what the value of :P2_EMPNAME is and what is in your table. One thing that i include in all of my applications prior to 4.0 is i make an application processes that runs "on load before header" and i set its sequence to -9999.
    BEGIN
        FOR x IN (SELECT *
                  FROM (SELECT item_name
                          FROM apex_application_page_items aapi
                         WHERE aapi.application_id = :app_id
                           AND aapi.page_id = :app_page_id
                           AND LOWER (aapi.lov_display_null) = 'yes'
                           AND aapi.lov_definition IS NOT NULL
                           AND aapi.lov_null_value IS NULL
                           AND ROWNUM > 0) x
                 WHERE LOWER (v (x.item_name)) = '%null%') LOOP
            apex_util.set_session_state (x.item_name, NULL);
        END LOOP;
END; This converts all page items with teh value of "%NULL%" to atually be null so you do not have to work around it anymore. Because this process runs before header and it is set to sequence -9999 it should run before all of your other processing.
You will kill your index by modifying the database column in your predicate but for multicase columns you can use:
    where lower(emp_name) like '%' || lower(:P2_EMPNAME) || '%'Cheers,
    Tyson Jouglet
