Search Feature Not Working in Mail 10.7.4

Hi, the search feature is not working properly in Mail since upgrading to 10.7. If I use Spotlight from the desktop, that search will find the particular mail message I'm looking for, but searching directly within mail produces horrible results. I know I can just use spotlight, but sometimes I just want to search within mail. Any suggestions?

Erase and rebuild index:
Open Terminal and type$ sudo mdutil -E /
you'll notice it indexing...

RoboHelp 10 WebHelp search feature not working?

Hi all,
I am using the Adobe Technical Communication Suite 4 and cannot get RoboHelp 10 to generate a WebHelp product with search capabilities.
I have created a RoboHelp 10 WebHelp project and imported FrameMaker 11 files.
Everything seems okay, but when I search in Internet Explorer 10, nothing happens. I can even be on the same page as a term and enter the term in the box,
but then nothing happenns. I also tried: Opera, Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers and still no results in the WebHelp search results.
Actually, I get one word by default and that word is: "null".
Any idea on what is causing this? I have a deliverable due soon, and I need to get this search capability working.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if it is Java, although I did download Java to make sure I had the latest update. I am running on a Windows 7 64 Bit Dell Laptop with Adobe TCS 4.
I just saw a different post - but related to this post on the topic and I think it has to do something with the XML files that are created during the normal generation process.
I have a feeling that there is something wrong with my XML files and the reason I say that is because I can generate one of the sample RoboHelp projects to WebHelp and then use IE 10 to search and the results
come up right away, but when I do a WebHelp generate on my project the search does not work.

That thread dealt with RoboHelp 8 and I am using RoboHelp 10, but I think the problem is probably the same.
My questions are as follows:
I have a customer deliverable on Monday with several hundred files and a search mechanism that does not work at all. Can I copy the search mechanism from the sample project and then put it into my project?
Are the XML files generic or specific to each project?
How many XML, Javascript and other RoboHelp type files are used to make the search functionality work? I was thinking of populating one of those sample files, that has already been started with my files to see if that would get things going in the right direction - with the idea of removing all the sample files from that project and replacing them with my files, but, I have over 400 files, including references to foldout drawings and vendor manuals (baggage files) and it would probably take too much time to make that happen.
With that said, if you or anyone else has ideas on how I could get this search engine working, I would really, really appreciate it.
My current file structure is like this:

There does NOT seem to these folders that are in the sample:
!Language!
!SkinSubFolder!
!SSL!
The !ScreenLayout! folder is the only one present. Does this have anything to do with only having MultiScreen HTML5 and WebHelp (Primary Layout) for my project settings?
Again the most notable difference I see, is between the folders NOT included in my project (!Language!, !SkinSubFolder! and !SSL!). I am not sure why these folders are not included in WebHelp.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, as well as for any suggestions that can be offered. I really need to get the search feature working by tomorrow.

The search feature is not working in Apple Mail Yosemite. I enter keywords and get no results. Is there a fix for this?

I have the same Problem... Did u try to delete the "Envelope Index"? ( got to Library/Mail/V2/... delete all files Envelope ... Close Mail before! and then restart Mail.)
I tried that but nothing happen... How tu use Mail without search feature!!

Mail search feature not working

Not a good day today but to top it off, my Mail search feature doesn't seem to be working. In the past I've praised OSX Mail search features and enjoyed the instant results all whilst bashing the inop feature Outlook and Notes try to utilize. I'm afraid to say the OSX Lion Mail search feature is completely non-functional. As I was searching for this issue through the support topics, I noticed this very topic appear then quickly disappear. I couldn't duplicate the search again for anything. Hmm.
Also, what's the dealy with opening a PDF in Mail with Preview and your last 5 PDF's open as well? Uncool. And I want Safari to open with my Home page, not the last page I visited.
At least the Spotlight will still identify the messages I'm wrangling for.
No need to reply... just need to vent a bit.

Search feature not working most of the time

My search feature on my iPhone 4 rarely works anymore. After swiping screen from left to right or pressing HOME button nothing happens when I start typing. If I press the search button it will take a long time before responding.

Sharing between Leopard and Snowleopard does not work reliably. For this reason, we do not recommend mixing Operating Systems.

Search feature not working on os 10.8.4

For some reason, I haven't been able to use the search feature in an open window since I upgraded to OS 10.8.4. To test it, I was looking at a file on my computer in that folder and typed in the name exactly, but the search feature returned zero results. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this? It's very inconvenient to not be able to search for files givent the number of files I work with on a daily basis.

Search does not work in Mail

After upgrading from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and reindexing my mails, "Mail" does not find anything when using the built-in search feature (neither does Spotlight). I tried removing the envelop files in the Library folder (- reindexing), deleting + adding email accounts within Mail, and removing / adding the mail folder to Spotlight (following Apple's suggestion (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2409)). Interestingly enough, when re-adding the mail folder to Spotlight, nothing seems to happen.
I have the impression that this could be related to the fact that I have my mails stored within an encrypted archive file (sparse bundle). Therefore the Library folder does not contain the Mail archive directly but refers to a disk volume via an alias. I had no problems with this prior to Mavericks.
Does anyone have similar issues? Any ideas how this could be solved?

have now reconciled to the idea that the 'to' name will not show, only the 'from' name,
so, sorted the trash box by 'to'. (by clicking the top area to 'sort by to'
then started going down and looking at each emails header to see if all the listings were in order of 'to',

however that is usually the case but often the person they are 'to' are not all togher, like all the 'to Miss A' are not all togher but scattered thru the list...

What type of account is this -- POP, IMAP or .mac? If not POP, then settings in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced will impact whether Search will work.

Search feature not working after upgrade to 11.2.0.1

Hi,
We have a RHEL Linux 64 bit environment wherein we were using 11.1.0.7 database.
We upgraded our environment from 11.1.0.7 to 11.2.0.1 successfully. No invalid objects reported and all the components under dba_registry shows as VALID.
The upgrade completed successfully. But we are getting this error while doing a search on the front end.
"Unable to retrieve search results. Error occurred while processing. Unable to return results. "
Has anybody encountered this issue? Please throw some light into the issue as to what could be wrong

What front-end you are referring to. If there were no issues while performing the database upgrade and all the components/objects are valid the database could be fine. You should investigate the issue from application perspective.

Versamail Auto-sync feature not working with AOL mail w/Treo 700p (Verizon)

I'm having a problem with the Auto-sync feature not working with my 700p (verizon) with my aol mail. It had worked perfect since May 2007. Just started having problems End of April 2008. Sounded like I needed another incoming mail server from aol other than: imap.aol.com, aol told me they also use pop.aol.com, that isn't working either. I get an error message that says "last auto-sync attempt failed."....Anyone else having this issue? I'm trying to decide whether to get rid of my aol mail of 14 yrs and use other address to continue using versamail 3.5 or keep aol and use Verizon Wireless sync. I do not like how wireless sync sends mail to outbox and then syncs vs sending right away. Please help...

I am having the EXACT same problem: Palm 700p, Versamail, AOL, Verizon.
It started about 1 month ago. The GET still works, but AUTO-SYNC does not...After spending hours on the phone with Palm tech support, and reaching someone who said AOL had changed something in their servers. They suggested TRYING Chatteremail, another Palm product. I have tried it for 20+ days out of the 30 days you get for free. It works pretty well, but NOT every e-mail that goes to my AOL acct is making it to my phone. The thing that's great about Chatter is that can be "live" all of time. Not auto-syncing every 15 minutes.
It's very frustrating....The same way the Versamail just stopping auto-syncing is very frustrating. With Versamail, sometimes I did not even get the error message. If Chatteremail worked consistently, I would bite the bullet, and pay for it, but to pay for it, and have it not pull down all the e-mails, all the time is not good.
I spoke to Palm Tech Support in N. America today, and they say the way AOL uses IMAP servers is in a non-traditional way, and it's very hard to deal with. They suggest ditching AOL, and using something reliable for syncing purposes like GMAIL. It's just hard to cut the cord. The man I was on the phone with knew of my problem, and he solved it by getting rid of AOL. It's just tough, since so many people have the e-mail address for me.

there seems to be some indication when you click on Smart Phones on left, that Coming Soon is Palm, but I don't know if that's going to be downloadable for 700p, or Palms moving forward. Or how far away that is.

Mac Lion. Search function does not work in mails.

I already wasted several hours trying to find solution for a problem which appeared with Lion, search function does not work, in mail at least.
I was not using Leopard before and I am not a mac expert.
(search function was already bad in the normal it was already bad in the normal 10.7 set up but at least it was working in mac mails).
I tried reindexing via spotlight privacy settings (adding and removing HD) but does not work much better.
I don't want to go to terminal, as as mentioned I don't know enough about mac to try this.
What to do?

Sound alerts not working in Mail and Ichat apps since upgrade to 10.4.9

I just noticed my Sound alets not working in Mail and Ichat apps since upgrade to 10.4.9.
I'm using soundsticks which is playing sounds thru quicktime, itunes, etc but my alert sounds for getting new emails and IM messages is not working. I get the quick "white flash" on the screen instead. I checked the prefs on both apps and it is set to give me the alert sound, I can even test it in the ichat pref when I change the new message alert sound it will play it thru my speakers but when I get a new message in either app it just gives me the white flash.
I'm read that it can be an issue of not having the balance in the system sound pref set the middle, so I checked that, restarted, all that but still no luck.
I really like the sound alert features because I can be in another part of my house, turn the sound way up and I'll know when one of my clients is trying to reach me but now I can't do that.
Any ideas?

LDAP Autoaddressing not working in Mail

I have LDAP directory services set-up in Mail and it works perfectly when doing look ups directly from Address Book. It was working fine from within Mail at first but I seem to run into times when the autoaddressing feature does not work in Mail at least not using LDAP. I have autoadressing enabled in the Mail preferences and as noted, LDAP clearly functions as I can use it successfully from the Address Book look-up function. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

as far I know the application is designed a way, that once there is an empty email this will not be sent at all.
Could you therefore first test the mail form - you can test it with a business partner with the mkt attributes assigned:
If this gives an empty mail, with the text elements not available the issue is related to the conditions of the text fields. You then need to check the conditions.
Alternatively you can try to add any text to the mail form that is displayed independently from the conditions - the mails should then be sent even for the business partners with mkt attributes assigned.
