I believe there was a search-field! am only i missing it or is there only the one at the top now (which doesnt seem to search the forums.

i don't know about you, but when i hit the main discussion page there is no such announcement or an announcement section...
The announcement link has been removed between the time I last posted and now.
I assume the announcement section only appears when there's an announcement.
For what it's worth, it appeared as in this screenshot (also visible when logged in and in Safari).

Restoring didn't return the search field. I reinstalled 4.0.1 on top of the current version, but that didn't do it either. But...
I installed the AwesomeBar HD extension yesterday (http://www.downloadcrew.com/article/22671-awesomebar_hd), and it struck me that might be the cause, although nothing in the write ups said it combined the search and address fields into one long one. It took some work to find the extension, since there wasn't any evidence of it in the Extensions list. Rather, I had to dig deep in the Profiles subfolder g9zrxnk6.default, which seems strange for an extension supposedly developed by Mozilla staff. Deleting that extension file returned the search field. Problem solved (I didn't like AB HD)

Where did the search feature go in iOS7? Search the device as well as select search to web or Wikipedia.

After installing iOS7 on my iPhone 5 and iPad Mini there is no Search Function for info on the device and the option to search the Web or Wikipedia. Where did this useful search feature go. It would list every contact, calendar entry, email containing the search term. Now that first page / panel is gone. Help!

Adobe removed the forms message bar, which is where the field highlighting toggle button was. It turns out that the following user preference works as a toggle as well despite the confusing description:
Edit > Preferences > Forms > Highlight Color > Show border hover color for fields
You can also toggle it with the following JavaScript:
app.runtimeHighlight = !app.runtimeHighlight;
You can add this to a custom menu item or toolbar button to provide an easier means to toggle it.

It should be at the top right of the iTunes screen :
When viewing the store that field should search the store, if you are viewing your library then it will search that

I have completed the Apple Software update today of several programs, but have not yet updated to MT. Lion. My Safari browser now seems to be lacking a search box/field in the upper right. I think that prior to the update there was such a box in the upper right of the url address box. Can this be restored, or am I imagining things? Thanks.

The search field is now part of the address bar. Putting anything into it other than a website address will perform a Google search.

How to set focus on specific search field in FPM's search guibb?

Is there any way to set the input focus to a specifc search field in an FPM's search guibb? I found that there is a godd way for forms by using the IO_EXTENDED_CTRL object in the GET_DATA function. But it seems that there is no corresponding way to do for search forms. Any other idea?

Hello Venkatesh. Yes that code does work. First I tried it on a table cell that was already rendered and it did work. The next time I tried it on a table row that was being added and it did not work there. So I added an on after rendering function for the table and added that code there. That did not work until I added a delay (timeout) to do a context switch before calling the focus and that worked.
Once last thing though sometimes when I call focus on an input field (actually in a table row cell) if the field has text in it already the flashing cursor is at the beginning of the text and other times it is at the end of the text (which is the desired way). It depends on where I click in the row. Is there anyway to make sure the flashing cursor is at the end of the text when the focus is applied to a field that contains text?

an customer wishes to open the search-field which is shown after hitting strg+f automatically when opening his pdf documents. Is there an javascript snippet or some startup options to get this task done? It has to work also in the browser plug-ins of acrobat reader.
2.
if the pdf is downloaded via an search form, the customer whishes to mark the searched words in the pdf as if they where searched via strg+f manually.
Can i do something like this:
a) write search words as metadata "Stichwörter" (not sure if it's called "glossary words" in the english version of Acrobat) dynamicly in an copy of the file with php. I tried to do this via search+replace with an prepared file - it did modified it as i expect but i destroyed the encoding and the PDF wasn't viewable anymore.
b) read the "Stichwörter" metadata with an javascript snippet and mark them in the File dynamicly?
It isn't possible to create the PDF File from scratch easily with the free PHP libs 'cause they are "searchable" Scans of Documents and the OCR recognition isn't perfekt.
There is an little budget to get this task done. So if i could'nt solve it by myself, my customer would apretiate your offers.

Repeating Characters in Address Book Search Field

My old MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 (2 GHz Intel Core Due / 2GB RAM) has a strange and vexing problem with Address Book, Version 5.0.3 (883). Anytime you type a character into the search field, that character repeats. Type "n" and "nn" appears. If you want to find the phone number for Mary and enter the name, you will get MMaarryy. This only happens in Address Book and no other app. I have tried going through Preferences and deleting any plist items that have addressbook in the name. No luck. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Can't confirm about syncing......BUT I can confirm that I, too, have had this "note" anomaly where the notes get "repeated". I think this has been going on before the iCloud era (ie: did it with Mobile.Me too).
I have just bit the bullet, and gone into every blessed Address Book card (almost a 1000 cards), and cleaned everything up manually. Seems to have cleaned up everything up ok, and keeping my fingers crossed it stays correct.
Now......I also have other "note" problems.
On many of my cards, in the note section, there will be a random letter "n" at the beginning of a line........I am constantly finding these "n" trash, and cleaning them up. Where the heck are they coming from?
The other problem......sometimes when you are typing away within a note....the cursor will just randomly "jump" to the top of the note field, or somewhere else......and of course, if you are not paying attention, you will wipe out some information. What the heck is going on here?

Issue with custom search fields in agent inbox

Hi All,
I am working on CRM agent inbox 7.0. The issue I am facing is like this:
I have added custom search fields in inbox. When give a combination of standard search field and custom search field, the result is only based on standard field. The value of custom field is not considered.
Is this a standard behaviour? Are standard fields given higher priority that custom fields?
Any pointers on this would be highly helpful.

Did you add custom field using AET? If yes then while adding custom field using AET did you make it search and result relevant?
There is nothing like priority in standard SAP fields and custom fields.

Suddenly can't enter anything in some blank search fields, dropdowns not working, and javascript popups freeze randomly. WTH?

I noticed a few random things not working on my computer in the last month or so, and I tried everything I can think of to figure out what it is...still haven't figured it out yet. Some examples - I was on ebay, and the tracking number I clicked on from the "My ebay" page popped open a javascript window, but then froze the page so I had to close the whole tab. Then on Grooveshark, the main page comes up, but if I type anything in the search field, I can see what I'm typing, but at the same time, I can still see their default search message. If I try to enter something and hit search, it just gives me the warning that I'm being asked if I want to leave the page, it never searches. There are a few other times I can think of that I tried to use a dropdown menu, and they don't always work - they just look like they're being clicked, but nothing shows. Also not sure if this is related or not, but it bears mentioning - I tried to install Freecorder, and even though I tried both the toolbar and just the button for installation options, it doesn't show up for me to use it, and that's with adblock plus disabled. Also not positive my last update of Adobe Flash took, even though I downloaded it.
I have adblock plus, but I've had that for years now, and it's never caused a problem or stopped me from seeing anything I actually wanted to see. My system was pretty bada** before this, and it's frustrating that suddenly I can't go everywhere and do everything I could before. Why is it doing this, and can I fix it??

Meh...if I had started here instead of trying to research this randomly, I would have fixed the problem weeks ago. I just did a Firefox reset, and tried all the things I mentioned in the OP, and it all seems to work fine now. Well, aside from Freecorder, but I can make that work another way, I guess. Anyway, Firefox reset = solution. Yay!

Looking for complete list of attributes to search on in Mail Search field

I have been digging for hours and other than the few examples in Mail's help file, I can't find a complete list of attributes to search on when doing ad-hoc searches in Mail's search field.
The ones I know of are to:, author:, subject:, kind:, date:, size:, modified:
There are also quite a few synonyms like from:, by:, to:, recipient:, etc.
But where is the complete list? Arghh!!
Any pointers would be much appreciated, or maybe folks can just append the keywords they know to work here?

Launch Script Editor (in /Applications/AppleScript/), paste in this script, select Event Log, run it, and get Mail's properties:'

Alternatively, Script Editor->Window->Library-> add Mail's dictionary to the listing and then double-click on it.

Where did the Home Video tab go?

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009) running Yosemite 10.10.2 and iTunes 12.1.50. I also have about 900+ home videos taken by my various cameras and encoded using HandBrake or iMovie over the last 10 years. 30 of these movies have been on my phone for over a year and I regularly watch them.
I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS8.2 last night by doing a restore as if a new device. This was recommended by a tech at the Apple Store since so much of my phone's 16GB was taken up by the operating system. After that, I suddenly had more than 3GB more free space. Yay!
But - right away, I noticed that only 3 of my 30 home videos had synched. I had those 30 in a special playlist so I wouldn't have to sort through the other 870+. I decided to remove them from the iPhone and try again, but it didn't work. So, I decided to remove them from the playlist and add them again. That's when I noticed that I cannot find the Home Videos tab in iTunes on my Mac anymore. It was there earlier last night because I had just added new ones to iTunes (visual confirmed they were in the Home Video tab once added to library). I tried to import all 900+ home movies, and it seemed to do something - but I still can't see them.
I tried to search for "Home Video" in the iTunes help menu - no hits. I always use "Home Movies Favourites" as the Genre for the 30 I put on my phone, so I tried searching for that in the movie search box. Nothing found again. I tried searching for individual file names. Nothing.
So - where did Home Videos go and how can I get it back? My files are still on the hard drive, but I have spent hundreds of hours updating the tags in iTunes with irreplaceable info like dates, locations, memories, etc.
Apple - please stop making such drastic changes to iTunes every time we just finish getting used to your other changes!

I have HD cable box. I want to record my HD programs from cable (HBO, Starz, etc) to my camera, download the video to my Mac from the camera and then edit them in iMovie and create professional looking movie DVD's in iMovie.
iMovie HD can work with mini DV HD cameras and HD video. I was not aware of a system requirement for working with HD content.
