Search/Find Confusion on my part....

I am having difficulty with the search function.
I have gone ahead and created keywords for my photos, of which there are several thousand in My Pictures.
I used Find to search My Pictures for Keywords that Contains Drag Racing.
I included all sub folders and included non-indexed files. The process took a LONG time but did return the shots that I had keyworded as Drag Racing. During that process the message said it was indexing files. Now I assumed that would be a one time process but today I tried the very same search and it's going through the same process of indexing files.
I thought that since it had already indexed my files, maybe I could do the same search but NOT click the included non-indexed files box. This resulted in another lengthy process of Building Criteria but it to returned the files I wanted and significantly quicker but it still took a minute or so. With the number of shots I have, this is probably a normal time?
So here's my questions:
If I have keyworded ALL my shots AND done one search that includes non-indexed files, then future searches do not require checking the non-indexed files?
Is there a better way to do this? Collections have been mentioned but I am unsure how that works.
I guess that what has probably prompted these comments is that I used Adobe Elements previously and the creation of "Tags" for your shots allowed virtual immediate retrieval of a particular group of tagged files.

You are on the right track. Once indexed you can uncheck the search all non-indexed box, or else it just re-indexes again. If you add files you have to re-index, but if you let the thumbs finish building that is the same thing. This is assuming the cache directory is large enough to hold all the information for all the pictures you have.
The search process can vary depending on number of images and folders. The fewer it has to look through the quicker. So think of best organization of files in folders/directories.
The Vista OS advanced search will bring up keywords quickly if the directories are on the windows list to be indexed. If you are just looking for the best image you can then right click and open file location.

Absolutely you can. It is part and parcel to iCloud's functionality on the Air.

Instead of opening each chapter and using "search/find" through each chapter, can i tell the "search/find" function through the whole book?

Apparently Adobe thought that would be more appreciated than a book-wide Search/Replace.

The "Book" feature doesn't even get mentioned under "Sorry, we didn't change that at all." Also make sure to read the comments -- it seems lots of people really want more book features.

PDF View Search Find Problems

FInd/search function in PDF view application still not fixed in WebOS 1.4. In PDF View application:
1) The field where you enter something to search/find is hidden by the name of the PDF document title. It doesn't go away even when you start typing, so you can't see what you are typing.
2) The count of the number of matches found looks greyed out and very hard to read.
3) The up/down arrows in the top right next to the count of matches does not work. Shouldn't they take you to each consecutive match?
4) Why doesn't it position you to page in the document where the first match is found? It shows the page number at the bottom, but since the up/down arrows at the top right don't work, I have to click the forward page arrow and then the backward page arrow to jump to the page containing the first match.

I don't know how to point Adobe to a certain printer, but the printer we are using does have that paper tray size.
So just to add some more clarification, its BO XI R2 and:
If I run the report in Deski, then save it as a PDF on my desktop, it is formatted properly, no problems at all, and no need to point Adobe to any printers.If I view the same report in Infoview it's split into two pages unless I chose "View -> Draft Mode". If I chose "Page Mode" it's split on two pages, if I chose "PDF Mode" (for printing) it's split into two pages and that is a problem....

thanks, Michel. it had occurred to me to put a scratch tag on the folder, but I was hoping for an easier way. in future I'll do as you suggest though, because it's easier than what I have been doing.

Problem with Search / Find in Files ... in Version 10.1.3.1.0?

When i use the function Search / Find in Files ... about the Active Application the IDE will be frozen and the JDeveloper hangs and must be killed. Is this a bug or is this only my problem?

I had a similar problem a while ago.
It would hang on 'indexing...'
I think the problem was that i had a package that was called exactly the same as my project.
For example:
Projectname: util
Package: com.example.util
The problem disappeared when i renamed the project.
I never came around checking if that was the real problem tough, so i could be completly wrong.

You are looking at the drop-down menus at the top of iTunes e.g. on a Mac :
If you are on iTunes 11 on Windows then press Alt-S and the Store menu should appear at the top.

Outlook2010 Search finds non-visible email headers?

Dear fellow Turkey-weekenders, I'm trying to help someone configure their new Outlook 2010 email client to work with their existing Verizon POP3 email account. I believe we've jumped through most of the hoops correctly but have a minor mystery!
After following the Verizon web instructions to set up the Outlook 2010 client we have sent several test email from a completely different machine and email system. Its apparent that our test emails are being received by the new Outlook 2010 client because outlook displays notifications of them in the lower right of the screen as they come in and we can Search all folders, find them and read them. However, when click on the Inbox or any other visible folder of the new account within the email client there are no emails visible. There are simply no headers whatsoever - no sender or subject or any other info.
Another interesting symptom is that the Inbox will correctly display the *number* of incoming messages we've sent or the *number* of unread messages in the Inbox (depending on a setting we found for that) but there are no actual headers visible in the Inbox. During the client account creation we did request the the pop3 server retain a copy of the emails (for 5 days as recommended in the instructions.)
If it matters, this in a new setup of Outlook 2010 and this is the only instance of any email client set up on this computer. The account was previously feeding an Outlook Express client on an old computer but that computer is in a different location and has not been turned on all weekend during the setup and testing of our new email client.
Is there a server or client setting that needs to be turned on? Is there an Outlook 2010 folder that is invisible? We've tried to look at the properties of the emails when Outlook 2010 Search finds them but there are no indications of what folder they might be in other than the Inbox, where they are certainly not visible.

Sometimes the only option left for a problem is to "Sleep on it!" Leaving our problem overnight may have helped us solve it.
I believe our problem was in overlooking a detail of the new Outlook 2010 Email Client interface. By default, Outlook 2010 "groups" all incoming headers by Date (such as "Date: Today", "Date: Yesterday", "Date: [previous weekdays]", "Date: Last Week") and does not necessarily "Expand" the "Date: Today" group by default. This has the unfortunate effect that a new user looking at their brand new Inbox display will see a line that says "Date: Today" with nothing visible under it. What is not easily realized is that there is a tiny triangular arrow to the left of the "Date: Today" group heading and it is by default set to the "collapsed" state for "Today."
The "Collapse/Expand" arrows in the new Outlook 2010 interface appear as follows: Hollow white triangle pointing directly to the right indicates a collapse "group." Solid black triangle pointing slightly down to the right indicates an expanded "group." The "groups" such as "Date: Today" and "Date: Yesterday" can be expanded or collapsed independently of each other and by default the Outlook client starts out with Today collapsed and Yesterday and groupings beyond "expanded," I believe.
This grouping feature is nice once you get used to it and all kinds of grouping can be turned on or off but I think for all of you supporting Outlook new users, this expand/collapse feature of the email interface will be something to check on when people report that they aren't receiving email or can't see their email!

Adobe PostScript 3 problem with 'search' & 'find'?

We have a new Ricoh copier with Adobe PostScript 3 installed. When we scan a document as a .pdf and send it to an email address, the receiver gets it, opens it ok, but then can't 'search' or find' or copy anywhere on the document. What is the problem? Is it the Adobe PostScript 3 software?
Please help, as we need to get these documents to 'search', 'find,' and copy.

Yes, we know now that the .pdf is a picture image, but how do we correct it? We've been told it needs OCR (optical Character Recognition), but isn't that included in the software of Adobe PostScript 3? Please advise.

Search/Find does not seem to work in Mail anymore ???

Things were going along fine, and suddenly I can't seem to use Search/Find in Mail any longer. If I enter, for example, the word "massage" in the Search box window, it delivers no results, even though I KNOW there are many, many messages with the word "massage" in them. Would anyone be able to offer any advice? Thanks in advance.

I'm quite embarrassed to say this, but your asking me those questions has made me go in and really examine how I was using the Search function, and I realise I was not hitting the "Entire Message" button when I was searching. This type of behaviour can be caused by malware. Try running several malware scanners. It is best to run several as each will pick up things that the others miss. Some scanners you can try are:

The difference between AutoVue Electro-Mechanical Professional and AutoVue 2D Professional is related to file formats supported and functionality which are related to those formats. For example when using Electro-Mechanical you can view all the formats supported by AutoVue (Office, 2D, 3D and EDA formats). When you are using AutoVue 2D you can only view Office and 2D formats. This is the main difference. Now if a functionality exist in Electro-Mechanical related to either Office or 2D formats the same functionality is exactly the same in AutoVue 2D. In your case if all you need to do is view Word documents and search for text you should definitely purchase AutoVue 2D Professional and you will be able to do it the same way you do it with Electro-Mechanical. If you want screenshots from AutoVue 2D Professional you can send me a mail to [email protected] and I can send you the screenshots but you will see the feature is exactly the same.
