Search/find stopped working

At first I noticed that I had to open the Find window after I'd open a file to do code edits occassionally, it was pretty jittery.
Now just recently, the Find window only returns a "Done. Not found in the current document." It doesn't work.
I've already tried the options... this thing can't find a $ in a php file it doesn't do anything.
Has anyone bumped into this problem or know what's happening?

I haven't encountered that problem, but erratic behaviour in Dreamweaver is frequently caused by a corrupted file cache. Instructions on how to delete it can be found here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/417116?tstart=0#cache. Sometimes, it's necessary to delete your entire configuration folder (details in the same place).

  • Search bar stopped working

since the last FF update (35), the search bar stopped working.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode.
You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab.
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
You can check if you have the XML files of the default search engines including Google in the browser\searchplugins folder in the Firefox program folder.
If not then you need to reinstall Firefox.
You can find the full version of the current Firefox 36.0.4 release in all languages and for all operating systems here:
Try to delete the search.json file and possible search-metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to reset the search engines to the default.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
Firefox will rebuild the search.json file from the default search engines in the "browser\searchplugins" folder in the Firefox program folder and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.

  • The App Store search has stopped working since I updated to 8.2 on iPad

    Hi
since I updated my software to 8.2 on my iPad the App Store search has stopped working but other features work on the App Store only the search option is not responding and says " the App Store is temporary unavailable please try again later "
I have turned my iPad off and on couple of times but with the same result each time.
the 8.2 update is for the new Apple watch and health app.
    can any one help?

Based on the numerous posts regarding iTunes and the App Store, there appears to be an issue at Apple's end. Although Apple has not provided any indication on the cloud status page.
    Do not change your settings.

Sounds like a issue when the video cache file is being written, perhaps anti-virus is scanning it, or it's being written to smaller or failing sectors.
1: Hard drives ideally below 50% filled, never more than 80%, use Activity Monitor> Drive Usage.
2: Always on anti-virus? Uninstall it, use the free, run as you need it ClamXav instead
4: MacKeeper? Uninstall it and never use it again.
5: Copy all User files to a external storage drive (not only TimeMachine), reduce user files down, disconnect all drives,  use Disk Utility > Erase Zero Free Space  to catch failing sectors in free space on the boot drive.
6: Restored  from TimeMachine or clone? Likely restored a corrupted system or malware.
Run through this list from #1 - #16  or go hard core and #9 and Zero erase entire drive in #20, start over.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
7: Your drive is possibly failing, you should think about replacing it

  • Keyboard shortcuts to switch between search engines stopped working

The latest version of Firefox looks great but unfortunately the keyboard shortcuts that I use all the time to switch between search engines stopped working which leaves me stuck with version 33.1.
I'm talking about the shortcuts Ctrl + ↑ and Ctrl + ↓ described in this page:

    Please solve this! Thanks.

    This worked perfectly, many thanks!!!

  • Search option stopped working - spotlight as well

I use the search option of Mail on a daily basis to find old emails or topics. I have also used Spotlight to search old emails. Recently my Mail program stopped searching old emails and only finds recent emails with keywords that I know used to find many more emails. Anyone else experiencing this? Maybe it is Mac OS X 10.4.10?? It was right around then that it stopped working. Any plans to fix this??

Okay, this seemed to work for me. We have Tom Harrington through te newsgroup, comp.sys.mac.system to thank.
    1. Go to "System preferences" (under the apple icon menu)
    2. Select "Spotlight"
    3. Choose the "Privacy" folder
    4. Click the Add and then add your Hard drive
    5. Close System preferences.
    6. re-open "system preferences" get back the same way to where you added your Hard Drive under privacy.
    7. Remove your Hard Drive.
    8. Close system preferences.
Now if you go to use Spotlight (not in email but for your compuetr generally - Control and Space Bar) , you'll see that the the system is rebuilding and it will take some number of hours to do so. When finished, at least on my MacBook Pro, the search in Mail was functioning fine again.
Pain in the butt, not very intuitive but it seems to work.

  • Find Stopped Working

I am working with Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9.  Until today, I have been using the Find function to successfully search my photos via my assigned keywords.  Today, this stopped working.  None of my keywords can be found by the Find function, yet Filter works fine.  The only thing I can think of is that my attempt to run Disk Cleanup to free up some disk space impacted the program.  I don't know how to get this working again.

Control doesn't seem to work for me. Nothing pops up.
I don't understand why engineers put such an obscure way of resetting. Why not just have a reset button under preferences with a confirmation box like most other software.
The only way I could get it to reset was to manually delete my preferences folder

  • Google Voice Search app stopped working

Anyone else seeing this problem: Google Voice Search stopped working. The new Google app that allows voice recognition searches starts up then ends and sends me back to home screen. It was working fine yesterday.
    Everything else works.
Shame it was pretty nice. Guess I'll dump it and re-load it.

  • IPads spotlight search has stopped working

I have updated to ios5 and the spotlight search was working under ios5 at first but it has suddenly stopped. I can type a word in the search bar but then nothing happens. I have tried a reboot (holding down the home and sleep buttons) and ensured that all the search categories are checked in settings.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i have the same problem! its very frustrating! Ive done all i can do to fix it, including turning the ipad 2 off, doing a hard reset (rebooting) multiple times, turning off and on all the categories in the spotlight settings menu, and get nothing in return.
After each reboot, spotlight returns some results for your first search, but then, if you want to search for a second thing, were back at the beginning, meaning, no search results at all. So, if i want to find something using spotlight, i have to turn off the ipad all the way, and then after it starts, use that single chance that i get after it wakes up to search for something. The second time, it just doesnt show anything anymore.
Suggestions? I have a 32 gig ipad 2, and this started happening after i upgraded to ios5, if that helps.
Theres no troubleshooting for something like this in the ipad 2 manual....

  • Did Hypercard search paths stop working in Tiger?

I have a number of Hypercard stacks that I've been using for a long time. Since upgrading to Tiger, I've noticed that "go stack foo" always prompts for the location of foo, even if it exists in a path on the "Stacks" global variable list. I'm using OS 9.2.2 in my Classic environment. Furthermore, the "there is a stack foo" function returns false. This worked perfectly under Panther, and also works fine on my PowerBook G3 (Wall Street) that's running vanilla OS 9.2.2.

Some paths under Mac OS X aren't recognized and maybe
that's the problem. For instance the Desktop in Mac
OS X is Users -> yourname -> Desktop, and not the
Hard drive Desktop. I've seen Classic direct itself
to the Mac OS X desktop instead of the Mac OS 9
desktop. So be sure that your stack is in a folder
    recognized by Mac OS X.
The paths are of the form "My HD:My Path" and "My HD"
is mounted on my OS X desktop. If I say
    go stack "My HD:My Path:foo"
it works. It just can't find foo using the Stacks search list.
I tried putting aliases to "My HD" in both the
Mac OS9 desktop and my OS X desktop, but it didn't help.
    Your other option is to
upgrade to Supercard the stacks you have, as
Supercard itself is available for Mac OS X natively.
I looked into Supercard, and I agree that it would be
ideal, but it would also be an enormous effort.
I used the Rinaldoid Xtensions all over the place, and
even apart from that, I used many features that are listed
as not supported in SuperCard (such as report printing).
FWIW, the report printing also broke with Tiger.

  • Iphone 4S "Search iphone" stopped working

The search function has stopped functioning despite all items being checked in setup. I have Turned on/off and that still does not help. Nothing is being searched. There is typically some feedback when i start to search and presently nothing comes up. Is there a way to reset other than on/off?

    Try a reset:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.
