Search for internal HDD

Hi all,
In an archived thread, a poster warned to make sure when purchasing the Western Digital internal drive (250 GB) to make sure it was the WD2500BEVE model and not a SATA. When I search that model, I found an Amazon page with a drive that "appears" close, but the model is one off;there's an "S" at the end instead of "E". Is this just the next one up & therefore ok to purchase, or should I really stick to the exact model & only BEVE on the end?
thanks!

On the Western Digital web site, it says that the BEVS model is the SATA interface (which won't work in a Powerbook), and the BEVE model is the EIDE/parallel interface, which is what you'd want for your Powerbook. • Searching for international top music charts

I'm getting very frustrated in my search for international hits. I go to the bottom of the itunes store page and click other country but most of the other countries only have the most popular apps.Day by day my frustration grows. It used to be so easy to find old top 40 charts or find what the rest of the world was listening to. Somebody help me please.

Many other countries have no music at all available for sale. If all you see in a given country's iTunes Store are apps, Apple has not been able to negotiate rights, or get past legal and/or infrastructure hurdles, so as to be able to offer music and other media content in those countries.
For other countries, since the content owners do not allow cross-border sales, Apple understandably tailors the "what's hot" lists to the country of the iTunes Store.
If you want to see what's popular compiled internationally, you'll need to look elsewhere; you won't see such a categorization in the iTunes Store. As to the Top 40 charts from Billboard and other such providers, Apple removed those a couple of years ago or more, probably due to licensing issues.

  • E-Recruiting - Internal Candidates not displayed in candidate search, job postings not visible for internal candidates in job search

    Hi Friends,
We are on EREC standalone model. Initial data transfer between HR to EREC master data using PFAL is done.
All employees have got NA, CP, US, BP in HRP 1001 in EREC system.
Change pointers are also activated in HCM system, now current master data changes are also in reflecting in EREC system thro IDOC posting.
But when recruiter logs into portal and does a candidate search, no internal candidates are appearing ?
    1) What needs to be done for internal candidates to visible during candidate search ?
    2) Also while logged as internal candidate, released requisitions are not visible for internal candidates while they try to search for internal job postings ?
    Kindly provide your inputs.

  • IRec : How to search only internal candidate applied for job

    Hi,
How shall we only search the internal candidate in the candidate: prospect pool, Candidate: individual , Candidate : Resume search,
or vacancy--> applicant search. I just need to search for internal candidate excluding the external applicant. Any option or customization suggestion please
    thanks
    Siva

    Hi,
On any tab there is email, you can use the same to filter down on internal applicants (using the @company.com) in the end. On the applicant tab, there is a search for employee and ex-employee, enable the drop-down.
Customization is possible but will be tricky as these pages use the advanced search pattern in OA framework and so, extensions are harder to do, though not impossible.

I backup to an external hdd with Time Machine, when it ran out of space it did not delete old backups, now my internal hdd says its full when before it had heaps of space. I have searched for extra files but cant find any. Can anyone help, please.

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight as described here. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can also use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extrem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptops hard drive??

I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extreme (2 TB drive plugged into the USB port).  I see the drive on my laptop and I can add and delete files no problem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptop's hard drive?  I don't have enough space to do that.

How did you move the music to the external drive?  What exactly is on the drive?  The entire iTunes folder or only music?  If it is the entire iTunes folder you can do the option+start suggestion earlier.  If you copied only music and did so by dragging it there then you need to delete it again and consolidate/organize it there instead so iTunes tracks the move.  iTunes 12 for Mac: Change where your iTunes files are stored - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19507

Sounds just like what was happening with my Alum MB. I took it in and they replaced my battery. It seems to be ok now. I don't know what it is, but my battery was fine before 10.5.6 and the same timeframe of the firmware updates when they came out.
My battery health was jumping around but was fine before all of this happened. Unfortunately at 381 cycles I don't think you have much chance of getting the battery for free. Perhaps you can complain about the battery saying it was fine until 10.5.6 or whatever. Not sure when your computer was made, but perhaps you are eligible for this program: http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/

  • Internal HDD installation guide for MacBook Pro 13" mid-2012 model

    Hello,
Can someone please share any step by step guides or instructional videos for installing a new internal HDD in a MacBook Pro 13" mid-2012 model. Also, please advise on how to format the new HDD as it is an unformatted one.
    Thanks in advance!

To format your new HDD, connect it to your MBP and open Disk Utility>Erase.  Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then clone the data from the internal HDD to the new external one.  You may use Disk Utility>Restore or use Carbon Copy Cloner (third party software) to do the cloning.  Test the new HDD via Startup manager and then perform the swap.
    Ciao.

  • Can I use additional internal HDD for my Satellite A200-1A9?

    Hello, new to these forums,
I recently bought the A200-1A9 and I'm very pleased with it. I was interested in adding an additional internal HDD to the exisitng 120 GB one . I obviously didn't do enough research as I bought a Toshiba MK2035GSS: 2.5" HDD 200 GB thinking it would slot right in the spare slot and it doesn't.
So really I'm looking for some advice on if I can add an extra internal drive and if so what model and how. After taking of the back slot cover there does look to be room for another drive although I'm not sure if the correct connections are there or maybe if the space is used for somthing else.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin
As far as I know some A200 models are delivered with 2 HDDs. because of that Toshiba make standard notebook chassis. All A200 models use this standard chassis. Your A200 is delivered with just one HDD and because of that place for second HDD is empty. This does not mean you can use second HDD.
I have the same notebook as you and in my case there are no any HDD connectors prepared for second HDD.

  • With Boot Camp, should I install the 64 bit version of Windows 7 (Home Premium edition) OR the 32 bit version when installing onto an early 2008 Mac Pro operating OSX Lion with a 1 TByte internal HDD?

With an early 2008 Mac Pro I'm about to add a second internal drive (1 TByte SATA) and initially install OSX Lion onto the new drive.  Then to partition this new HDD via Boot camp.  But my question is whether I am best advised to purchase the 64 bit version of Windows 7 (Home Premium) or the 32 bit version of Windows 7 (Home Premium) for the Windows sector of the disk  What are the differences, and will I notice a difference in performance?

In chart from wiki, (scroll down to "Comparison chart") check the maximum CPUs supported.
You don't see this on MSoft's 1st searched for chart hit. This is one reason you will regret not paying for Professional+ if you get Home Premium 64 as I did for Mac Pro early 2008.
Home Prem Task Mgr sees 4 processors vs. the 8 that are seen by Pro+.
Costs more than a Mac upgrade to Lion if you make that mistake.

  • Error Code -50 on different internal HDDs

    Hello Community,
I got a really exotic problem. After month of usage without any problems, my system  (Mac OS X 10.8.2, MacBook Pro (Mid 2009), 500GB Hitachi HDD build in afterwards) failed its service multiple times out of a sudden.
    Symptoms:
    - System freezes after few tens of minutes after reboot (while working)
    - previous attempts of saving/dublicating/pasting of files failed (message like "This process could not be finished, because an unknown error has occured. (error -50)")
    - Download, install and opening of Apps wasn't possible anymore (propably because of writing errors, too)
    - After restart (often only possible with hard-boot) sometimes troubles with access rights (key chain access denied etc.)
    - Mail, Calendar, Messages were forgetting their accounts (and could remember afterwards sometimes)
    - and just by the way, my battery life decreased from 5h to 2h hours with the nice notice "check battery"
I know, some of you are already thinking "Completely clear, dying HDD.", but the best is still coming
    Counter-measures:
    - Clean install of Max OS X ML + migration assistent => same problems
    - Repair of rights and volumes with disk util (sometimes started from recovery partition or from Install-USB-Stick; checking done multiple times, also directly after freeze+reboot) => rights-repair could be done without problems, volume check without anz problems, S.M.A.R.T. Status is "verified" (or "checked" if translated by word)
    - Clean install without migration of Apps and configs (only data) => same problems
    - EXCHANGE of intern HDD by old intern HDD (until then, it was used as extern one without any troubles) + clean install von Mac OS X ML without migration of anything (only single data imported manually) => SAME PROBLEMS AGAIN, Disk util checkings without any problems again (beside some standard Java confusions)
Sometimes, after a clean install, I created a new admin account and deleted the old one, but this shouldn't be the reason for such big troubles which appear repeatly.
I have not even a clue, what the reason could be. Did someone has had such problems once knowing a solution? Every tip would be great.
    Greetings, Mario.

    Back up all data now.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:20 ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ 2> /dev/null
Be sure to select the whole line by triple-clicking anywhere in it. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar. A text window opens.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

  • ITunes refuses to read music on second internal HDD

    Hello!
I realize this topic has been asked to death, we need some form of sticky topic! After a bit of searching, I haven't turned up anything I haven't tried.
    Here goes:
-I just got my old 400mhz AGP G4 up and running - 768 MB RAM, OS 10.4.8, a new SuperDrive, airport, and 2 internal HDDs - an 80 gig and a 60 gig. Well, the 80G is my boot drive, and holds just about everything. I'd like to move my ~17 Gig iTunes library over to the 60 Gig drive, which is currently empty. Here's what I tried:
Method 1: Read this topic: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=607487
It worked great - except that trashing the files (on boot drive) caused iTunes to give a completely empty library.
Method 2: Copy all files to secondary drive, and attempt to get iTunes (now empty) to accept the library. It didn't work - if I try to import library, I'll get 4000 songs and no playlists!
Method 3: Use .Mac's Backup to attempt to restore the library to secondary drive. No luck - iTunes still refuses to read the file. (Same as 2)
    Any tips?
One more thing: How can you tell who is listening to your shared iTunes library? There used to be a widget for that - but I can't find it anymore.
    Thanks,
    -Dan

Right, I know. But the procedure of choosing a new location for the library, checking the box, and having iTunes copy the files is the same for both platforms. I suppose I was too lazy to type it out, hm?
Anyway, It's actually copied from my Powerbook - the Powerbook library is the master copy, although I like to have a fairly current library over on the G4 as it's very useful when the Powerbook is packed up for school, or when I'm taxing the Powerbook to the limit (eg, Final Cut render, gaming, etc). It's a fairly simple matter to copy the files, although long. And for what it's worth, they were all still in the trash - I had yet to delete them! So, everything was still there.
What I eventually did was just to copy them back to the original boot drive, then follow the select-new-location>let iTunes copy method, then just delete the MUSIC files, not the iTunes-required files. Essentially, your second Apple help doc link. It works like a charm now.
Sigh... that's one of those "DO'H" moments.
    Thanks,
    -Dan

  • Will iBook G4 work without internal HDD?

I have searched, surfed, browsed, read and read... and more regarding my problem with my iBook... it seems I´m almost lost (without having to pay a couple of hundreds euros)...
Basically my iBook started to crash 2 weeks ago. In the beginning I thought it was the old 60Gb HDD... thus I bought a new 160Gb WD and a Firewire enclosure... plugged the new HDD and installed Mac OS X... then followed the ifixit instructions and replaced the old HDD for the new one. First boot went excellent! But...
Because there is always at least one BUT... the new HDD started to crash... same as the old one did... I got the intermitent forder / ? sign and the like... and worse the old 60Gb is running through the firewire case!!! I can boot and everything...
This only meant either the HDD orange ribbon is broken or the IDE Controller from the mainboard... my gutts tell me is the chip... (when pressing it, it works... and have tried out the "shim-thing" suggested somewhere on the net without any success)... nonetheless I ordered a new ribbon...
So the question: Can I remove the 160Gb and NOT install the old 60Gb... just leave it "empty", and still manage to use my iBook through the firewire connection with either of the HDD?
    Thanks in advance

Richard... many thanks... trust me when I say that before posting I´ve been around a lot, including big part of the Discussions here... your thread was helpfull over the weekend when I tried it out, although with the ifix disassembly method... I tried just disassembling and reamsseblying verifying every connection and screw... then special focus on the orange ribbon (plus the previous)... and so on till the "shim" variation... it is clear that applying pressure which gave me some results...
Thus, discarding possibilities it is all down to the chip (described here http://www.coreyarnold.org/ibook/)... I do have a couple of friends with soldering skills and the corresponding equipment... I try to get them to doing what is described here: http://macintoshhowto.com/hardware/how-do-i-get-my-broken-g4-ibook-fixed.html
Nonetheless, will try out the orange connector exchange and see what happens, as I have already ordered it...
Yet, my question still holds: will the iBook work without an internal HDD and a firewire bootable HDD (external)?
Of course, I will let you know any news / update on what happens... It is a REAL SHAME, AS I LOVE MY iBOOK...

  • M93p FRU / part no. for second HDD in SFF

Hello all; I'm in the Toronto area in Canada and am having a very hard time searching for the FRU / Part No. and ordering something that seems to be very well documented at Lenovo in regards to installation. I have spoken with Lenovo Support (who suggested that I 'Google' for the part no. since they could not find it - gee... thanks Lenovo) and have spoken with a Lenovo Business Partner, of whom I deal with for servers and such - and they seem to be at a loss. This is what I've come up with so far: This is what it looks like... [Search for: lenovo-desktop-tower-thinkcentre-m93-m93p-internal-detail-7.jpg] Note the 2.5" metal 'cage' and blue 2.5" HDD carrier...I Will need the metal cage and blue plastic bracket. Does not seem to be listed in the 'parts' list - but there are plenty of 'install' manual referring to this part(s). [http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkCentre/m93_m93p_mini_tower_form_factor_06212013.pdf] Here is an installation video referring to a 'Secondary Hard Drive Mount' - Skip to the 30 second mark. http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/videos/pd028086 NOTE: The title is "[VIDEO] HARD DISK DRIVE INSTALLATION MOVIE - THINKCENTRE M83, M93, M93P (SMALL FORM FACTOR)" This is the written version of 'Secondary Hard Drive Installation' http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd027387 NOTE: The title is "INSTALLING OR REPLACING THE SECONDARY HARD DISK DRIVE - THINKCENTRE M83, M93, M93P (SMALL FORM FACTOR)" All I've found is definitely what I need... but to order, I need the FRU/Part-No. and I have not found any. [RANT] Yes - I've searched the Forum - there seems to be only one other 'hit' and the Part No. is not Canadian/North American... so my Lenovo 'contacts' simply ask me to provide 'them' with another part no.... Isn't Lenovo support/ordering supposed to be able to get a part no. for me? Lenovo... How am I supposed to provide a Part No. that is located somewhere in 'your' data base? Loved the ThinkCenter's, Xservers and ThinkPads and the support when it was all IBM... but during the last few years - I'm finding it harder and harder to recommend to my Clients (and my self) to use/stick with Lenovo. Used to hate finding Dell parts; but the last few years - it's been easy stuff and the support is pretty good too... come on Lenovo! FYI - been searching for almost a month for these parts. Sorry for the rant; but frankly, I'm super disappointed in Lenovo in the fact that 'I' have to find a part no. for something that seems so well documented. Also, Lenovo has instruction manuals WITHOUT giving a part no's. I don't seem to have any means of locating a part no. I'm also super mad at the amount of time I've spent trying, in good faith, to find a part no. while Lenovo support / reps / etc. lend 0% help towards.

    Hello
I dont know the part number. Here it is a user to user forum and you will not find an notebook technician or ASP here.
In your case I would contact the nearest ASP. They can tell you the part number and order for you.
On the Toshiba website you can search for authorized service provider.
