Search for mail on server returns error

When searching for mail on the server i receive the error Cannot get mail. The connection to the server failed. All other mail functions work.

Not that it helps, but I'm having the same issue on iPad and iPhone. Happened around the same time. My server admin admits that they applied one patch for Microsoft Activesync, but since the Blackberries work that couldn't be the problem.
My account verifies fine. Opening the mail window results in the error message.

    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Searching for mail with specific headers

    Hi, Is there a way of searching for mail messages that contain a specific header? I want to find all email messages that come from people with a particular version of Outlook Express, so I want to find all email messages which have X-Mailer headers containing the string "Microsoft Outlook Express".
    (This is Mail version 3.4. I'm a recent convert from Eudora & am still missing many Eudora features. )

    It's inability to deal with HTML was finally getting to me. And it didn't integrate well with Address Book at all. Having to change contacts' details in two different places got a bit too much & the "Use OS X Address Book" option didn't work properly, not updating with changes made in Address Book. Nor with iCal, although that was fixed with a couple of hacks.

  • After installing MountainLion I can't search for mails in Mail

    Hi all, after installing Mountain Lion this february I can't search for mails in mail before 2014! But the mails are all there, I can scroll down till 2011 ;-) Its only the search who killed himselfe after upgrading from Snow Leopard.
    When I search for a word via Spotlight, it finds all old emails!
    Whats wrong with my Mail.app?
    Thx

    After reading A LOT of postings about this topic, I found my personal solution Because this problem started after upgrading to a new OSX, I mentioned that it must be something with rights permission. So I went on
    User/Library/Mail right click -> Informations. Look down where you can see which groups has access, read/write. I went on the small wheel to change, set in my password, went on my user name, changed from "read&write" to "just read", switched back, marked "to all subfolders", then OSX asking if I really wanna do this -> yes. Waiting. Finished.
    Now I see all my mails when I search inside the Mail.app.
    Schnell und einfach ;-) Besten Dank

    My iPhone 5 continuously searches for mail
    How do you know this?
    no matter what time period I set it for in settings
    You realize that Mail App checks for mail every time it's opened and that the fetch interval  you set applies only to background checks when the app is closed, right?

  • IOS4 - "Searching for mail"

    Since downloading iOS 4 yesterday, my mail keeps "searching for mail" with the icon spinning. In order to retrieve mail, I must reboot.

    I got that after the update to iOS4. It would just spin and spin, claiming that it was trying to retrieve my mail. It was happening on all my accounts.
    I tried resetting my phone, but got the same behavior.
    I tried deleting and re-creating a couple of my email accounts, but got the same behavior.
    What finally fixed the problem was a Restore from iTunes. As long as you have a complete backup, it's not much of a problem to do.

  • Search for mail in Outlook 2013 does not have all emails in result.

    Hi, we have a user that tries to search for a sertain mail in her mailbox, and when she searches, a few mail comes up, but the one she knows is there, and that fits the search pattern, is not listed in the results.
    We have tried to reindex the database the user was on, we have moved her to another database, and none of these have given us the result we want.
    We have also removed the checkmark in "Search" in Outlook for "Improve search speed by limiting the number of results shown".
    If she does the same search in OWA or Outlook 2010, the result is as expected, but in Outlook 2013, it is not.
    Has anyone experienced this, and if so, what could be done to solve it?
    Google(Bing) produces very little results that are relevant to this for me.
    Hope someone here has an answer :)
    Regards
    Tore Melberg

  • Searching for a file and returning location?

    Hello,
    Using flex 4, and creating an AIR desktop app for windows only, can you have a function search for a known file name and return the location?
    I cannot find anything about this, only an example for mac.

    HI Bethany,
    This may work in Numbers for iOS:
    Table 1 is your data table, with an index column (K) added.
    Your appointments for one specific date are shown on Table 2.
    Table 1 contains one formula, entered in K2 and filled down the rest of that column.
    K2: =IFERROR(IF(MATCH(Table 2 :: $B$1,B2:J2,0),MAX($K$1:K1)+1,""),"")
    The formula creates a serial number for each row containing the search date entered in Tble 2::B1, and leaves other rows 'blank'.
    Table 2 contains one formula, entered in B2 and filled right:
    B2: =IF(COLUMN()-1>MAX(Table 1 :: $K),"",OFFSET(Table 1 :: $A$1,COLUMN()-1,0))
    You will need a column for each potential appointment. The table as shown has a maximum of four. Add columns for more.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Search for a word and return all the  lines (row) from the text file..

    Hi all,
    I need a help on how to search a string from the text file and returns all the lines (rows) where the searched string are found. I have included the code, it finds the indexof the string but it does not return the entire line. I would appreciate your any help.
    public class SearchWord
         public static void main(String[] args){
         //Search String
         String searchText = "man";
         //File to search (in same directory as .class file)
         String fileName = "C:\\Workspace\\MyFile.txt";
         //StringBuilder allows to create a string by concatinating
         //multiple strings efficiently.
         StringBuilder sb =
         new StringBuilder();
         try {
         //Create the buffered input stream, which reads
         //from a file input stream
         BufferedInputStream bIn =
         new BufferedInputStream(
         new FileInputStream(fileName));
         //Holds the position of the last byte we have read
         int pos = 0;
         //Holds #of available bytes in our stream
         //(which is the file)
         int avl = bIn.available();
         //Read as long as we have something
         while ( avl != 0 ) {
         //Holds the bytes which we read
         byte[] buffer = new byte[avl];
         //Read from the file to the buffer
         // starting from <pos>, <avl> bytes.
         bIn.read(buffer, pos, avl);
         //Update the last read byte position
         pos += avl;
         //Create a new string from byte[] we read
         String strTemp =
         new String(buffer);
         //Append the string to the string builder
         sb.append(strTemp);
         //Get the next available set of bytes
         avl = bIn.available();
         catch(IOException ex) {
         ex.printStackTrace();
         //Get the concatinated string from string builder
         String fileText = sb.toString();
         int indexVal = fileText.indexOf(searchText);
         //Displays the index location in the file for a given text.
         // -1 if not found
         if (indexVal == -1)
              System.out.println("No values found");
         else
              System.out.println("Search for: " + searchText);     }
    }

    Hi, you can use servlet class and use this method to get the whole line of searched string. You can override the HttpServlet to treat that class as servlet.
    public class ReportAction extends HttpServlet {
    protected void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
    throws ServletException, IOException {
    //write your whole logic.
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("your file name"));
    String line = "";
    while(line = br.readLine() != null) {
        if(line.contains("your search string")) {
            System.out.println("The whole line, row is :"+line);
    }

  • Search for data in server based database.

    I have a web page (http://gosolivitahomes.com) where I can enter a search for data in my server based database.  If I enter a value less than $100,000 in Min Price I get no response.  For values >= $100,000 I get the correct response. Why?  Please help.

    Yesterday I got no properties under $100,000.
    To day I tried again and the first time I got 2 results, but when I went back and repeated the same thing, I got no result.
    Then, like John Waller suggested, I cleared my cache and the 2 result were back.
    Perhaps your problem is a template or other cms cache issue. I don't know very much about it, but when I had a login problem I had to disable user cache i the cms (Joomla).
    I hope you will solve the problem

  • Evolution times out when searching for mail

    I use Evolution as a frontend to Gmail. I set this up at work today, and it worked fine after installing gnome-keyring (which really should be flagged as a dependency), but after returning home (and by extension rebooting), I get the following message:
    Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.secrets: Timeout was reached
    It appears at the top of the client after a few seconds of attempting to access the server.
    It's Google's server, so there's no reason why it shouldn't be able to connect. Looks like it's trying to start some service and failing, but the message is cryptic to me.
    Any advice?

    I have a similar problem. Actually, Gnome-Keyring will not open the usual pop-up asking for my master password, in order to unlock every other password. Therefore, of course Evolution cannot access my e-mail account, it does not have access to the password of those accounts !
    I notice that at every start-up, I have two differents gnome-keyring processes, and killing the oldest solve the problem.
    oxayotl@Mahomet> ps aux | grep keyring
    oxayotl 386 0.0 0.0 206312 3484 ? Sl 13:40 0:00 /usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --daemonize
    oxayotl 674 0.0 0.0 49524 2220 ? S 13:40 0:00 /usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --foreground --components=secrets
    Of course the process numbers change a little bit each time, but it is always similar to that example. Simply typing “kill 386” (adjusting the number, of course), and then asking Evolution to try again gets me the pop-up for the master password, and then everything works fine. No new gnome-keyring process are launched.

  • Ping iTunes server returns error message

    Help!! I have tried to ping the server following the instructions on the Tech Specs page (http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html), but whenever I put the URL w/podcast id into my browser, I simply get an error message back from Apple and the XML file is not updated immediately.
    Here's the URL I used:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=108627247 where the id is my podcast (Harpeth Hall LIbrary). Am I missing something?
    Here's the error message:
    The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource 'https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.wo...

    The call was intended to be basically a one-way notification. No real return value per se other than the http 200 success header if your message is received. Having said that, it's certainly pretty gross looking if you ping in a browser. A bug has been filed against this behavior so that in the future you can get a more friendly assurance in a web browser that your ping went through. In the meantime you might consider just pinging on the command line like this:
    curl -I https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=108627247
    If it was received by the iTMS server, you'll see:
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    in the output. That 200 means the ping was received not that it has run yet.

  • ActiveX automation server return "Error Win32"

    Has anybody meet this problem: I click on the' ActiveX automation server'
    in the CVI project window 'Tools' menu (CVI5.01) and then it starts to
    scan all the registered components but after a while it returns an error
    message like "Error Win32" so I can't work with the ActiveX components,
    I tryed uninstall and reinstall the CVI and the problem remains the same.
    The OS is Win NT 4.0

    Whether you are using database logging or not, you should not get an error like that when database options are loaded. From the kb's you specified it sounds like there was an issue with a COM/ActiveX server not getting registered in the past. Especially on machines in which TestStand was installed from a deployment rather than the main installer. Have you tried running the version switcher like the KB suggested? Did it succeed or give an error? If it gave an error what was the error? Could you perhaps try a fresh install of TestStand on a clean machine?
