i have N95 8GB phone
this is my six nokia phone and i loved them all
this symbain OS have something that really annoying me
* the "active standby" has no Editing option except the changing of the shortcuts (that i never used anyway)
i mean that i cant change the location and the content of the window of the active standby. (like on Nokia6233) (S40 OS)
* all the previous nokia phone that i have, the "active standby" was activated by the up arrow key, - and now in that symbian it used all the 4 direction key to activated. - i used to use the other 3 for messaging, or looking the diary.
* i usually used the active standby to indicate what calender schedule i have to do, and in that OS it show only appointment, and don't show normal task scheduling.
if someone can help me set this settings over the phone OR
suggest me another application (3rd party) like the "active standby"
but with an option of editing the setting of the content???

I guess nobody replied, because there is no way to change the active standby in S60 models and there is no 3rd party application to replace it.

Migration Assistant: Searching for other computers...
I got a new iMac 24" running Mac OS 10.5.6 (No new software updates available)
I want to transfer all my data from my old iMac, i.e.
iMac 17" running Mac OS 10.4.11 (No new software updates available).
The firewalls on both computers are disabled and they are on the same network.
I followed the instructions:
1. Opened Migration Assistant on the new machine
2. Chose 'From another Mac' - Use Network - it gave me a passcode and "Looking for other computers..."
3. I opened MA on the old machine
4. Chose 'To another Mac'
5. It found the new machine and asked for the passcode which I entered.
6. It said that all application will quit if I press continue, which I did.
7. It gave a 'Preparing information' message, BUT then again said that it found my new machine and asked for the passcode again - I entered it again.
8. It then gives me a 'Searching for other computers...' message...
And that is where stays... and stays...

On the 17" iMac... how much free space is there on the drive? Not enough disk space and that could be what's holding that up. Not certain, just could be.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Not enough available drive space can cause issues like you are experiencing.
In my opinion, the Migration Assistant can be more trouble than it's worth. I use Firewire Target Disk Mode between Macs to transfer files. It's so much easier.

I only want my secured network wifi but keeps searching for others. Tried turning on an off wifi and on and off secured networks and ignore other networks, but keep coming back. Any suggestions.
That's not the way wifi works.
You may see the other networks but you are not connected to them in any way. -
ITunes Store option to search for "other versions" of songs?
When searching for music, there used to be an option to search for "other versions" of the same song -- and it seems to have disappeared. I found so many other great artists doing covers of songs! Writing to Apple Support did not produce a response. Wondering if anyone here knows?
It's too bad they took away this feature. I used it all the time to find other good versions of a song by different artists.
I previously took multiple painful steps to go back to an earlier iTunes version when I discovered that iTunes 11 dropped the "sort" feature. When I heard that the recent version allowed sorting, I downloaded it. However, when they reinstated the sort feature, they apparently did not include the "other versions" feature. -
Best practice for ASA Active/Standby failover

I have configured a pair of Cisco ASA in Active/ Standby mode (see attached). What can be done to allow traffic to go from R1 to R2 via ASA2 when ASA1 inside or outside interface is down?

My wifi is on and when it tries to find a wifi connection, the gray little circle just keeps spinning and will not detect our home wifi. I have tried to search for it and connect to it manually, but it will not search for the network name. I'm hoping I don't need a new phone so please help.

Starting in Firefox 23, the address bar uses the same search engine as the search bar. You can undo that change using an add-on, or if you don't need them to be different, select your preferred search engine in the search bar.

My computer is Stuck at "looking for other computers" while trying to Upload from an external hard drive using migration assistant.
Wow, the wording in Migration Assistant is misleading. I've never used it before, so I thought I would try to copy my files from the external drive ... my old iMac died, but I managed to get everything I need off it, using the 'cp' command in single-user mode. So I guess I'll just have to manually copy the files from the external drive to the new machine. I was hoping that Migration Assistant might help somehow, but obviously not.

If not is there only a read-only standby database and how high availability of the active stand pair works?
ThanksThat will work for a simple test/demo environment but it is not robust enough to use for real. If implementing a robust HA monitor and management framework were that easy then we wouldn't need Clusterware...What about all the different failure conditions, combinations and corner cases? Please don't make the mistake of thinking that this is close to adequate for production usage. You will just create a heap of pain for yourself. State management and co-ordination across multiple nodes is a difficult and complex problem which is why cluster managers have evolved into the thinsg they are today.
Just one simple example; the network that connects your detection program to both nodes is working fine but the network between the TT nodes is not. How does your monitor (a) detect this and (b) handle it? What of the network between the monitor and one of the nodes fails but the connection to the other node and between the TT nodes is okay? How is that detected/handled? Ensuring that you 'do the right thing' in each case and don't take any action that could result in loss of service? And these are the 'easy' cases...

E71-1 - No inbox/notification in active standby
In the past days I have tried to configure any kind of information about my primary email account for the active standby/home screen. The email account works fine (imap-idle account), receiving emails works fine, but other than the @-symbol in the top-right corner (when new emails are available) no information about the inbox or any indication about new emails are displayed on the home screen.
In the mode-config I selected the email account to be displayed on the home screen, and no matter what option I choose in the email notification 1 details (headers only, headers with popup, headers with unread etc.) nothing at all is shown. I have seen screen shots where at least a bubble notification is shown (for new emails) and also at least a link with the account name. The way it is now I have a really hard time keeping track of my (new) emails, because I really have to open my inbox every time to be sure.
I have tried every imaginable configuration detail, the manual is no help at all, and I didn't find any information in any forums about this problem. Is this a software bug? Has anybody experienced this? Is there a solution?I've been experiencing the same issue where that active standby plugin wouldnt show a notification. But I *THINK* I have it figured out from the clues in this discussion. This post is to benefit any other people googling for the solution. To my knowledge, this method will enable you to have the single line email notication on your Active Standby aka homescreen (where your calendar and meetings show up) in the format of Gmail (6). I believe the catch is you need to have less than 999 emails in your inbox. As a workaround you need to archive all extra emails in your Gmail inbox. A disclaimer: I am not 100% on this, so I will give you as much detail to replicate my scenario where it works, so adjust it for your own situation
I went through various deletes of my Gmail account in the Email settings area of the NATIVE messaging app (where text messages are).
If you look at Messaging --> Options --> Settings --> Other
There is a setting called "Number of saved msgs." I figured out the maximum of this to be 999. In my opinion this setting is talked about saved SENT messages (the setting above it is called "Save sent messages" Yes/No). Set this number to 999.
I assumed this 999 number of messages to be the limit for all emails out of a hunch. I went into my Gmail account on the web and pretty much archived a lot of emails except the recent ones. Archiving your emails does not delete them, but rather stores them outside of the inbox and are still searchable within Gmail. I made sure the number of emails in my inbox were under 900.
Next, I followed the steps we all know to put in a Gmail account via IMAP via the setup email wizard and some minor tweaking in the settings dialogs (Messaging --> Options --> Settings --> Email --> Gmail --> Connections Settings --> Both Incoming e-mail and Outgoing e-mail sections) using the guide: Symbian S60 - Gmail Help
It might also be worth it to set your "Access point in use" for both incoming and outgoing servers.

Messaging --> Options --> Settings --> Email --> Gmail --> User Settings --> New e-mail alerts should be ON

Messaging --> Options --> Settings --> Email --> Gmail --> Retrieval Settings --> there are no necessary changes (the next section will override settings related to retrieval amount and cause ALL emails to be retrieved.). Note that putting folder subscriptions may put you over the 999 limit. I don't know if the 999 limit applies to each folder or to ALL emails as a whole. If you do put folder subscriptions, the next section setting will automatically also override the # of emails from folders retrieved to be ALL as well. Experiment at your own risk.

Messaging --> Options --> Settings --> Email --> Gmail --> Automatic Retrieval:
Email notifications -- Disabled (you can only have one or the other and email retrieval is more important than this unknown and ill defined setting)
Email retrieval -- Enabled or "only in home network" (more options will appear now regarding scheduling. Pick your frequency according to how long you want your battery to last and how important your emails are). If you choose "only in home network" I am inclined to believe that it will only use the access point you described earlier in "Connection Settings"

Make sure your default mailbox is Gmail
If you go into Modes (Modes--> Home screen apps --> Enabled apps) at this point and try to put the "Email 1 notification" as active, and go into "Email 1 notification's " settings, and try to set your mailbox to Gmail, it will tell you to connect first. So lets do that and hope it works
So go to Messaging --> Gmail --> Options --> Connect and watch it retrieve headers of your emails from Gmail. Make sure that theres 1 or 2 *NEW* emails before downloading for testing out the Active Standby plugin's temperment.
Go into Modes while it is retrieving the headers of your emails
Modes --> Home screen apps --> Enabled Apps --> and select "Email 1 notification"
Go back into
Modes --> Home screen apps --> Go into the new "Email 1 Notification" setting there
Mailbox: Gmail
Preview: You have a choice of three
Header only -- shows your mailbox's name and # of unread mails on homescreen -- eg: Gmail (3)
Header and popup -- show the header described above in 1 line, plus when you hover over it, a preview of your emails in a bubble that includes Sender, Subject, and Date. To me, this is the most useful
Header and unread -- Shows the header described above in 1 line, and in a 2nd line shows the most recent unread email's Sender, subject, and date
Assuming you've put a audio tone for email alerts in Profiles --> Whichever profile --> Customize --> Email alert tone
Then once you head back to your home screen and once the email retrieval finishes, you should hear a audio sound, and see Gmail (3).

N97 Active Standby net connection
My N97 will only connect using a 'WAP' (2G) connection for the active standby apps (i.e. facebook accuweather etc.) How can I get it to lose that preference and start using the 'internet' (3G) connection instead?
Cheers.Ok, I have discovered why it's doing it, The settings in the web browser were pointing it to look through the WAP AP list rather than the Internet AP list. Even though it was offering me an Internet AP to go online through the browser and OVI store. I have corrected this and restored my settings.

I get an error that says can't connect to the itunes store when I search for a specific artist only

When I try to search for music by a specific artist in the iTunes store on my iPhone 5, I get an error that says "Can't connect to the iTunes store". This only happens when I search for music by this band. I can search for other artists and listen to song clips and everything seems to be connecting to the iTunes store just fine. But for some reason, it doesn't work with this artist. The band name is July for Kings. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but I hope so!

hopefully they can help. You may also be interested to know that for some reason it is just not available to a lot of people at the same time. Appears to be an issue of more users than their servers can handle. Has happened periodically for at least 6 months that I know of but apparently users are able to use within several days if there are no other issues with the users device.
