Search function lost in new itunes Store

You used to be able to search podcasts and get lists that you could rank by popularity. The search function has been severely reduced in the newest itunes store.
Now all you can get is thumbnails with no details.

I'll echo this. Look up Classical Music, anything there is nigh impossible to find. Telling me that a song is "symphony no. 9 movem...." is useless. I don't care, I know that. What I want to see is the movement. But I can't. Or how about dance remixes? I know the name of the song, I'd like to be able to see the actual remix name.
On top of that, you can't even choose what you want to view by. If I am searching for all the U2 songs, I don't need to see that the artist is U2. I'd much rather use that space for more productive things.
I simply cannot understand who at Apple thought this was a "better" user interface. Sacrificing user operability for a "spiffy" new makeover is not what I would expect from Apple.

    I too am having this problem. Just searched for a song title which threw up around 300 results - I could always sort those by artist or album or time (this was really useful as I buy a lot of remixes and used to sort by time - just looked first at the longest, often), etc. Additionally I cant  widen the columne so cant see any of the titles fully even. The whole search results page seems completely useless. Classical searches will be a nightmare with hundreds of recordings and seemingly no way of sorting and cant even see the information fully. One thing I have discovered with this awful new ITunes is that after hours of playing around many things are in fact there - just in very odd places or in different (and less user friendly) set up . . . I have also had some fantastic help through these pages - thanks everoone.
    This search result glitch does seem a real mistake surely ? If nothing else it makes me FAR less likley to buy - i cant find anything !  Lets hope I"they" cotton on to that effect and sortsit out . . . .

    NB. the app I'm initially interested in downloading for is the paid global/worldwide BBC iPlayer app that's only accessible outside the UK, if that helps.

    Yes.
    And, your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
    "Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."

  • Ho do I search for a specific song in the new itunes store?  The search button is missing.

    I have always searched the iTunes store for specific songs by the song title and not by the album or artist.  Is this still possible?  I have spend an hour looking and have not found any way to search inside the store. 

    If you are missing the Search field you may be missing the entire top section, together with the progress bar when playing and the red, yellow and green buttons. This can happen if iTunes overlaps the top of the screen (which of course it shouldn't do).
    If this is the case, click and drag on the very bottom right-hand corner of the window (when in Library/Music or the iTunes Store) and drag upwards to reduce the height of the window. Then click on the bottom bar and drag downwards.

  • Search does not connect to Itunes store

    I'm new to Itunes and downloaded Itunes 10.5.1. When I attempt to use the manual search function for music, the software attempts to connect to the Itunes store and then times out. However, when I tune on the column search, I'm able to call up listings from the store. I would like to use the manual search since I'm not sure of the category for some of the songs that I want. I've tried deleting and reloading the software three times and have tried other fixes suggested on the Apple website including the System Configuration Utility, using Safe Mode, creating a new Windows user account, etc. I haven't received an answer back from the Apple support folks yet. Any ideas?

    Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
    In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than Network connectivity tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
    When you get through to the final screen:

  • Lost connection to itunes store after latest itunes upgrade?

    I have lost the ability to access the itunes store after uploading the latest v9 itunes. An error message appears saying check internet connection. My internet connection is fine for everything else. Any ideas as have bought an itouch and would like to upload some new stuff onto it?!

    Are you running any of Symantec's (Norton) or McAfee's Internet security products or anything similar, or an antivirus/antispyware application? There have been reports that some such utilities treat an upgrade to iTunes as a new application and can block the application from connecting. So you have to go in and reset the utility to allow iTunes. The same thing can happen if you upgrade the security product (this has particularly been a problem with recent McAfee upgrades).
    Check the settings for your utility. If iTunes is still listed, remove and re-enable the exception for iTunes. Consult your utility's documentation for the appropriate procedure; you can find instructions for Norton on Symantec's web page for iTunes. You may also need to check the built-in Windows firewall as well.

  • Cannot create a new Itunes Store account

    The story is simple, yet complicated:
    I bought a used Ipad 1 here in New York where I live.
    It has been wiped by the old owner and I starded using it with my Itunes account.
    I never connected it to my computer to synch.
    Bought 3 Apps and decided to pass it on to a friend who will be travelling to Poland with the Ipad.
    Since she permanently lives in Poland; before she leaves the US we are trying to establish a new account for the polish App Store.
    App Store allows her to enter all new info including Poland as a country and her home address, but upon clicking on NEXT as the last registration window on the Ipad, a dark rectangle shows up where the registration has been entered and NOTHING happens!!
    So we gave up trying to register on the IPad and tried it on my MAC.
    All went smoothly and the regstation went through including confirmation and account verification by emai.
    We went back to the Ipad's App Store trying to download a free App just to test the system, but again we get the dark rectangle after initial entry of credit card info.
    Nothing else is showing up. No explanation of any kind.
    What is going on? Is there a conflict trying to sign up with identity in Poland, but travelling in the USA?
    I also tried logging into Itunes Store from my Mac, using her credentials, but are being asked to enter additional billing info.  Upon entering her Visa from a polish bank, we get a message that an account cannot be created.  No further explanation is being given.

  • Playlists and purchased songs lost from new iTunes download

    I've just downloaded the latest version of iTunes onto my laptop.  I've now noticed that all of my playlists are missing, and most of the songs that I've purchased from iTunes in the last 6 months or so are also missing from iTunes.  Although when I go to download them from the iTunes store it recognises that I have previously purchased them and I can download them again for free (although there are a lot of songs missing and I'm not entirely sure which ones are gone).
    I still have all of the songs and playlists on my iPod, is there a way of getting them back onto my iTunes?
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    It sounds like you are wanting to download your previous iTunes purchases. They are available for re download free of charge from the Cloud. Here is an article to help you get them re downloaded:

    You may need to reset your keychain. Connection issues are occasionally caused by keychain issues. Learn how to use Keychain First Aid to resolve any issues with your keychain.

  • Right click get info menu missing in new itunes store

    Before the update if i couldn't get the album artwork for an album i had imported from a CD i would find album and one of its tracks on the store, right click it and select "get info". I would then see a dialogue box containing the pertinent information about the song such as title, artist name, composer, album artist, year, track number. If i then copied this information into the "get info" box of the song in my itunes library and tried to get the album artwork again, more often than not it worked.
    now when i load up the itunes store and find the song i want to check the tags for i can no longer right click on it to get the information, i can only left click it to play a sample.
    is it possible to access the "get info" information in the store anymore, if not does anyone have any good suggestions for fixing the tags on songs so that itunes recognises them and will download artwork for them and recognise them for genius.

  • I keep getting a session timeout message after agreeing to the new iTunes store terms.  Have reset the keychain and restarted iTunes.  No joy.

    The message is:  "Your session has timed out.  Please try this operation again from the beginning."  It appears immediately after I click on the I agree button.  This is the first time accessing the store since I upgraded to Snow Leopard.  The reply from the Apple Help person via email pointed to a web page that suggested there might be a problem with keychains so I used the Keychain Access app to verify and repair it/them/whatever.  I have never used keychains and really don't see any use for it/them.  I guess I can get along without new iPad apps, or maybe I'll have to...

    Having the same problem on my iMac.  I've tried everything to do with connection problems in the Help article re: the iTunes store with no results.  Also contacted Support, which referred me to the Help article and to the Support Communities i.e. here; no dice.  I get the idea that something's mixed up here; they told me it was probably my internet connection rather than an iTunes issue, but according to my diagnostics the network is working perfectly fine.  It has to be something on the far end - especially since there would appear to be no less than four people with the issue.

    Well .. the new iTunes9 store is just horrendous, and a step back from the previous version. i'd beg for the previous version but it's never gonna happen.
    one of the most simple and yet horrendously awful things is the apparant inabilityto resize columns when browsing an arists. if the name of a track is wider than the column ... how do you see it? there is now way to scroll across and see the complete name of the track/remix.
    anyone know a work around for this. anyone from Apple care to comment on such an obvious design flaw?
