Search-Function without TREX server ?

Hello to all,
I want to use the Search-Function but we don't have a TREX server. Can I nevertheless use it? Which iView can I take? And which settings do I need?
Are there guidances for it?
Thank you and regards.
Galyna

Galyna,
No unfortunately you cannot - TREX is required for search functionality and as such there is nothing else built into Portal/CM that will do the same thing.
I would guess it is not worth your effort trying to do your own thing !!!!

  • "Search Function" on server?

Is there a way to use Search Function on a server (like I

If not, how do people find a file in a folder of 1000s of

  • Help Desk Tech Search function

We use the ticket system to work along side our Security Officer, and have made him a Help Desk Tech so he doesn't get spammed with all of the tickets being opened, but ti also sacrifices his Search function in the Help Desk.
Basically if we turn off help desk emails in his account, he gets NO help desk emails including his assigned tickets or tickets he creates. If we make him an admin he gets all of the tickets as they are created.
Because he creates quite a few tickets, it would be helpful for him to be able to search his tickets. Is there a way to get him the Search function without him getting all of the open ticket emails, and still getting ticket updates for tickets he creates OR are assigned to him?

Have you heard about radio frequency identification entering healthcare environments? A recentPanasonic blog entrysheds light onthe benefits of RFID when it comes to healthcare IT.RFID works by using electromagnetic fields to wirelessly transfer data. Once a hospital is equipped with RFID readers, items that are “tagged” can be counted, tracked and processed as they pass by a device reader. Stickers embedded with the technology offer a variety of tracking uses within a healthcare environment, including inventory management. In the often fast-paced healthcare environment, items are often lost or misplaced. RFID tagged items can easily be identified, tracked and managed through a centralized database – helping the facility keep all the inventory information accurate and in one place.RFID systems also allow for patient and personnel...

  • Does Search Functionality work in SAP without having TREX

    Hi,
Can we have Search functionality in SAP Netweaver without having TREX installed in the landscape because we are facing some problem  installing TREX in Customers' landscape. They are having Windows Server 2008 R2 based on IA64 bit archtecture as OS. Although SAP is proving Trex in Service Marketplace for IAA32 bit machine, but they are not providing any Software packages for IA64 bit. Is there any other alternatives we have to get the search service in SAP.
Our ECC is in EHP5 environment.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Soumen

    Hi Soumen,
If you are using e-Rec or Talent Management then you need TREX for searches. STVN SuccessionPlanning uses Talent Management searches, so indirectly it also needs TREX.

don't know what happened to this service

Problem, he had a trexjavaclient.properties below his WebAS path. From WebAS630 TREX config has to be done inside Visual Administrator and not with any old (in this case wrong) trexjavaclient.properties.
After removing this file. TREX service started normally.

  • KM Search without TREX

    Hi.,
One of the customers would like to know if any document
search is possible without using TREX.
    Can anyone explain on this.
    regards
    JohnP

    Hi JohnP,
searching without Trex is technically possible, but KM is required for such a scenario. You can "simply" develop an IndexService (Search) for KM's Indexmanagement layer connecting any search engine and plug it into the framework. Leave the TREX IndexService empty (not TREX configuration) and you will be able to search upon your IndexService resp. to your search engine.

  • Using external search without RoboHelp server

Is it possible to index pages external to your project in
order to conduct searches without having RoboHelp Server?
    Thanks

    Hi, rune1io
From what I understand, the (PPT, DOC, XLS, TXT, and PDF)
files would have to be included in the project, either in baggage
files or placed in the root of your project folder on the server.
Here is a snip from the online help regarding this:
    <snip>
    Enhanced indexing support for Search
In RoboHelp Server 8, for all the WebHelp Pro and FlashHelp
Pro projects, you can search for any topics and baggage files (PPT,
DOC, XLS, TXT, and PDF) included in a project. You can also add a
reference to these files in a topic, and the baggage files are
    displayed in the search results.
For server-side indexing, you can copy the required baggage
files to the project folder. The RoboHelp server reads these files
and re-creates the index at the time of scheduled scanning. Also,
if you do not include these baggage files in the project, the
server still indexes them, provided they exist in the project
    folder.
    </snip>
So it seems that a link to an external file via HTTP or FTP
would not be indexed. I will try to seek further clarification on
this, but that's the way I read it.
    Thanx,
    john

  • Using Solution Database (IS01) in SolMan without TREX

    Hi all,
I just wanted to use the solution database within SolMan, which comes with the standard CRM functionality (IS01). Unfortunately I always receive dumps when creating (SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC) and searching (OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED_NO) for problems and solutions.
Afterwards I found that the installation of the TREX server is required and this is maybe the reason. Is this true?
How can I run the solution database without the installation of a TREX? Is this possible?
    Please help.
Thank you very much in advance, and have a nice weekend.
    Stefan Bauert

    Hello Charan,
Thank you very much for your feedback!
I went through the wizard of TCode "CRMC_SAF_WZ_SE" and entered requested program, but I was leaving detailed data for http and so on blank.
After that I went to TCode "CRMC_SAF_ADV_CLIENT" and wanted to enter the recommended description to "Learning Enginge Description". The following 2 entries already exist:
    DEFAULT_ASPR     Spreading Activation
    DEFAULT_PURE     Pure Correlation
Do I need to enter a new entry, or just paste the program name into one of these entries?
However the creation of a problem is still failing with dump OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED.
Finally my question: If I do not want to use the service desk for this, can I use the solution DB without TREX?
    thanks and regards
    stefan

  • Acrobat X freezes when I run the search function

Every time I run the search function Acrobat X, Acrobat freezes and then locks up. This is happening on two different computers, both of them are running Acrobat 10.1.1. I've also repaired both installations through the control panel in Windows 7.anyone having similar problems or suggestions on how to fix?

It is possible to have the Redaction tool search for a text string across multiple PDFs without using the "Action" wizard or batch processing. You will have to learn the exact steps to properly set the properties for each string of text. You can also review the items marked for redaction and either accept, remove or adjust as needed each one.
There are 3rd party tools that can also redact PDFs and they existed long before this feature was added to Acrobat. Appligent Document Solutions Redax..
Appligent even has a server based product for large amount of files or using watched folders.

  • Search function in portfolio

I have created portfolio with some 300+ docuemtns. After using "save pdf portfolio as website" I uploaded it to a server and it all works fine ... however, what surprised me a bit was the lack of "search bar" which is something that makes a huge difference to me. Obviously, the editing capability is not in the "web version" but why the lack of search bar? The search function is essential to me.
I guess people can download the portfolio and open it on their PC and then search ... but I would love to have the search tool in the "web version [flash]" without the need to download.
    Any help/ideas will be appreciated!
    Mike

The search feature would be impractical to include in the Web-exported version of a Portfolio, as you would need client-side access to the full text of every member document - and sending them that file in advance is a massive data burden. You could customize the HTML to include an add-on which runs searches on the server (via AJAX etc) but Acrobat can't set that up automatically as it has no idea what languages your server supports - and if course it wouldn't work if the HTML was opened locally.
