Search future calendar events

How do I search for a future event beyond one year, for example, I know my home mortgage will be paid off on November 1, 2019.  I created a calendar event for that day.  Sometimes I forget the date and want to search for that specific date, but the search will no go beyond one calendar year.  So, how to I search beyond one year for an event? By the way I am using the latest update for my iPhone 5s.

Hi michaelfrompearcy,
It looks like it can search a two year window, one year in the past and up to a year in the future.
iOS: Understanding Spotlight Search
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3636
Calendar and Reminder search
Spotlight searches for the title of calendar events and reminders in a two-year window—it will reveal results from one year in the past and one year in the future. If an event has recurrences that fall in this range, it will find the event that is closest to the current date.
Maybe you can document the event in Notes or another way as a reminder that can be found.
Best Regards,
Nubz

My iphone just deleted all of my future calendar events and icloud and any other method has failed to bring them back...any help would be great!

Have you checked that all of the calendars were checked, so they displayed? In the Calendar app, select "Calendars" at the bottom and make sure they are all checked. In the IOS Settings, make sure the right accounts are there.

  • Past and future calendar events

My calendar goes back to the 90's. I want it all on my phone but it seems to disappear only months in the past. I book appointments as far in the future as a couple of years... Yet my calendar only shows a few months into the future. This is not good for me. I need to reference past present and future dates. I have sync past events selected yet still these events do not show on my phone.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! LOL

A related question is why there is a limit of one year in search in iCal on the iPhone. I have 7plus years of iCal events and only the most recent one year can be searched. (The search works ok on the desktop.) And, there is no jumpToDate facility in iCal on the iPhone; I can only scroll fast in the list view to get to distant past events. I don't think iCal on the iPhone is up to the normal Apple app quality.

  • Lost calendar events after sync

after syncing my mac book air with my iphone 4 i lost all my past and future calendar events on my macbook and iphone.
I have backups on time capsule:
Q: how do i recover my approx 900 calendar events from time capsule into my calendar on macbook without copy and paste 900 of them into their respective date on my now empty calendar?
    appreciate help

I can't get my iPhone 3GS to sync calendars with either iCal or Outlook.  Everything I entered into my iPhone calendar is GONE. The data I previously entered into and synced from my iPhone is still in my Outlook calendar, which used to sync seamlessly, but I can't get iCal to import the Outlook calendar, either (my assumption being that the iPhone would be more apt to sync to an Apple device more than a Microsoft application). The only calendar events that sync from my Mac Pro to my iPhone are the few that are in iCal.  Office 2011 for Mac just had a big update, too - I wonder if there are multiple culprits here.

  • Notification with specified Calendar events

Hello, I'm a newbie in using variables. I have a workflow which won't work, but sure someone will be able to tell me what I'm missing. The workflow is as follows:
    - Get Specified Calendar
    - Set Value of Variable (CalendarX)
    - Search for Calendar Events
    - Set Value of Variable (EventsXY)
    - Get Value of Variable CalendarX
    - Get Value of Variable EventsXY
    - Show Notification:
    Title: my title
    Subject: CalendarX
    Message: EventsXY
I would appreciate any king of help.
    Best wishes to everyone.

I was finally able to fix this.  The problem appears to have been re-accuring events on my work calendars that did not have a set end date.  The Calendar app seems to be adding ALL the events and since they do not have an end date just keeps going.
    Steps to fix:
    1.  Turned off Push and then set the Fetch settings to Manual to prevent any updates to the calendars
    2.  Remove/Turn off the calendar with the events.  This can take a LONG TIME.  I had to let this run over night. Alternatively you could try and modify the event by adding an end date.
Also of note.  Doing a restore via iTunes did not fix the problem.

  • Upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

    Greetings,
    Questions:
    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
    4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal.  Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once?  If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
    1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
    2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups.  They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.
    Hope that information helps.

  • How to search for an event in calendar application

Can someone provide steps to search for an event in the calendar application? I had tried using the magnifying glass option on the phone but this immediately takes me to the internet. I have tried using the edit button but there is no search options.  I tried doing this while the calendar application was open.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Searching in calendars - won't find events #Driving me mad!!

    Hi!
When I search for certain events in my iphone calendar it is unable to find them! why is this? This is so disruptive to my business! I have lost a lot of work over this.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I have hijacked another thread but my problem seemed so similar......
Anyway, changing the seach criteria such as events, titles etc has no effect.
What is strange is that the more info put into the search box the greater the spread of possibles.
For instance 'whidbourne' will give a single match. 'Whidbourne close' will include all those entries with close in the title. 3 whidbourne close will include all those with 3 and so on. These hits are listed by date so the most accurate match '3 Whidbourne Close' is lost in a huge list.
Spotlight works the other way. The more info in the seach box the less the matches as one would expect.
Is this normal? If so Is it just me that finds it strange?
OK, If I remember to omit numbers and common words such as Mr, road, close etc it will be workable ...... but why?
Our emac runs Panther with ical synced via .mac with the G5 imac that behaves (to me) strangely and a search in ical will behave as you expect:
'3'.. gives all the possible matches with 3 in them....by the time 3 Whid is typed in the box there is only one match.

  • Calendar search not finding calendar events older than a year.

Calendar search cannot find events older than a year.
    neither does spotlight search.
    iphone 4s 16GB ios version 7.1.2
ipad 32GB with retina (purchased on 2012) ios version 7.1.2
Does anybody has the same issue?
Calendar events over one year old are not found when searched on iOS. Neither on the iPhone nor the iPad. Although they are found on a mac running mavericks calendar app.
All events are displayed when going directly to the month and viewing all the events of each day, but she search feature, the one accessed through the little magnifier, simply cannot find any event older than a year.
I have multiple events in my calendar and I tested them and the last I can find is within 365 days of today. after that events cannot be found.
    steps to reproduce:
    1. go into the calendar app on the iPhone and add an event but use a date date 13 months older than the current date. Save the event.
    2. verify the even is created by looking at the day of the event
    3. on the top right corner of the calendar app select the magnifying glass and try to search the event by typing any word you used on the title of the event just created
    4. search result will display No Results
    5. exit the calendar and access spotlight search on the home screen by using the "pull down" gesture from an area outside of the dock, including the top row of app icons. Type any word you used on the title of the event just created
    6. search result will not display the event
    Thanks

  • I have to copy calendar events to future dates what is quickest way to do that?

I have calendar events that I need to copy on the fly, to future dates without losing the current date. What is quickest way to do that.

    Scanner 100$ ( a guess)
    Your time 20$ an hour
    1 Thousand photos
1 scan =1 min (if you choose low res)
Time to figure out which resolution you want=?
Time to sort organize/agonize about keeping it?
does the scanner come with some great software that will make naming and sorting easy?
    240$ / 20$ = 12 hours
1000 minutes / 60 = 16 hours  now  I know for me it would take longer than the 1 minute to scan all those photos and you have to factor in how long it takes the scanner to scan at your given resolution and the size of the photo.
I think scan time would be a major factor for me since I know I would want the photos at a really high res. I've hardly seen a scanner/printer that is a reasonable price and quick. But they may be out there this year.
I am still going with the scan service.

  • Can someone pls advise how to tie a contacts info to a calendar event so you can contact them from the event when reschedulingis necessary instead of having to leave the calendar app, search contacts,

Connect contact info to calendar event in calendar app

    Hello AmyDGH,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! You can invite others to your events using email addresses. Once your invitees have accepted, you can then send a group email to the participants via the calendar application (or individually view a participants contact information). You can check out the iOS user guide for more information on using invitations with the calendar application:
    Invitations - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/8/#/iph82c5721ca
Invite others to an event. Tap an event, tap Edit, then tap Invitees. Type names, or tap the add button to pick people from Contacts. If you don’t want to be notified when someone declines a meeting, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Show Invitee Declines.
Quickly send an email to attendees. Tap the event, tap Invitees, then tap the send mail to invitees button.
    Cheers,
    Matt M.

  • Archive old Google Calendar events from iCal 4?

I have 8 Google calendars filled with events going back years. It's too big and I want to thin it out by archiving all events older than two years. I'll do it manually, but I can't find a way that works. I haven't found any way within Google to do it and to do it manually from within Google, you have to select each event separately. Too much work.
To do it for a Mobile Me calendar, I can just:
    - Create a corresponding archive calendar (ie, Archive Personal for my Personal calendar) that is On My Mac
    - Select only one calendar to view (Personal)
    - List all events by typing a period in the search bar
    - Select all events in the list that I want to move
    - Right click or control click one of those selected events in the calendar (not the list) and choose the calendar Archive Personal to move it to
For the Mobile Me calendar, the events are moved to the Archive Personal calendar and removed from the Mobile Me calendar. Perfect.
When I try that with a Google calendar, it all seems to work in iCal, but the event remains on the Google calendar. No good.
    I tried another way...
    - I exported one of the calendars from Google into an Archive calendar On My Mac
    - I was planning to delete everything after a certain date on the Archive calendar and delete everything before a certain date on the Google calendar, but when you search for all of the events in the Archive calendar On My Mac, it shows duplicates of every event. Somehow it's showing the Google calendar events as well as the archive calendar events even though the archive is the only calendar selected. The search should only result in events from that calendar!
Also, searching for a list of all events in a calendar in iCal 4.04 doesn't work too well. Once you move events, the update of the list is spotty. To really see what is left in the calendar, you need to quit iCal and restart it and do the search over again. Hopefully that's fixed in the Lion version!
If anyone can think of a solution to accomplish this — any better way to archive off old events from a Google calendar, I would appreciate it!

I just started using MobileMe yesterday and have a similar issue. The only past events in my iPhone are recurring events like birthdays. None of my old one-time events synced to the iPhone. Fortunately, they're all still in iCal (local and online). Does anyone have tips on how to get all events, past, present, and future on the iPhone?

  • Setting 1 April Calendar Events

Today I started receiving errors messages when setting new calendar events in iPhone iOs 5.0.1
"Cannot Save Event" with mix of "Event Does Not Belong to That Event Store" or "No Calendar Has Been Set".
After doing a number of searches I tried many of the suggested fixes including:
    change default calendar
    reboot the phone (power cycle)
reset the phone (home + power cycle)
close multi tasked items including Calendar
    turn icloud off/on
Each worked for the one or two events, but then I started to notice that everytime I tried doing a calendar event for Sun 1 Apr, the error re-occured.
I tested specifically again for this, entering an event for today (4th March) and then in the future (1st May), and finally 1st April.  Error re-appeared as soon as I started using the 1st April.
Thinking back to when the error first started appearing, and it was a 1 April date where I had an event starting 31st March and ending 1st April, and I wanted to adjust the end date back to 31st March.
Have managed to reset phone and have stayed clear of using 1 April for any events.

Okay, cancel the emergency. Figured out that if I turn off Calendars in iCloud (on the iPad), choose Delete Calendars on This Device, then turn it back on, everything returns to normal.

  • Can Not Remove "with" Data from Calendar Event Details

I currently have a Palm Tungsten|E2. For a short time I used to sync it with my work computer; this was before they replaced the computer (lease was up) with a new one where it was locked down and I could not reinstall the Palm desktop. Since then I have been syncing it with my home computer that runs MS Vista. Just recently I have noticed that when I create new Calendar events on my Palm, they all get a new "With:" data line (and a user from my old job) after sync'ing with my home computer. Selecting this "With:" entry brings me to a screen that allows me to select from a list of people I may "Done", "Reply", or "Reply All" to; although selecting either reply only causes a fatal error that requires a soft reset (button on back of machine). Looking at the event through the desktop software shows no data point so that it may be cleaned.
I would like to know why my desktop software is adding this person to a "With:" data point to all new entires I create on the Palm hardware, how do I turn it off and keep it from doing it in the future.

Are you sync'ing the new device to the same username in Palm Desktop as an older device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.
    Looks like you may need to hard reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;
    XP
C:\program files\palm or palm one\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
    Vista
Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
tasks, and memos will come back over.
Show file extensions for XP or Vista
    XP
If you can not view file extensions on your PC I would like you to open a
folder go to Tools-->Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
    Vista
Open control Panel go to Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
