Search Hijack. My search has been hijacked by Yahoo. My search is set up for Google, and when I type in the bar is say google.co.uk, but a yahoo page still comes up.

My search is set up correctly for Google, when I type a search "google.co.uk" is there in blue, but still a Yahoo search comes up on the web page.
Help to stop this would be greatly appreciated.

From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

  • Maps for iPad quits when I type in the search line

I can't search in Maps for iPad since it quits every time I try to type something into the search line. I tried restarting the iPad and even restored it from iTunes. Still can't search without it shutting down. I'm at a loss for a solution.

Exactly the same here. Tried almost everything I can think of. Honestly, this is bordering on the completely unacceptable, as if you can't ever enter certain letters, there's no way to search on maps, or anywhere else on the iPad, and this is one of the main reasons I bought it - for travelling in foreign cities.
Perhaps coincidentally, a lot of apps just seem to crash like maps do, but only on the iPad, not the same apps on my iPhone.

My iMac (2011) has been persistently throwing this error message: "SafariDAVClient quit unexpectedly." This started when I moved up to Mavericks, from Lion. That's related since the process is attempting to load your Safari bookmarks from iCloud, and is crashing for some reason.
    Try this:
Select the entire line that follows (triple-click to select it), then control-click, and from the contextual menu that appears, select Services > Reveal in Finder:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCloudHelper
Drag that entire folder to the Desktop.
    Quit Safari.
Attempt to open iCloud Preferences again. If it opens de-select Safari.
Launch Safari again and determine if the problem is fixed.

  • I just turned on my iPod Touch and all my music has been wiped... (my iTunes was set to manually manage music, and all my apps are still on the iPod...).

What has happened and how do I get my music back? Obviously I have some of it on iTunes but others I don't have anymore... I can't understand how my music would suddenly disappear when my iPod has been working fine. My iTunes was set to manually manage music (and even if it hadn't been, then my iPod would have been synced to it anyway, so that can't explain why it's gone) and all my apps are there as usual. It's the version of the iPod touch before the camera was introduced. Please help!

That makes it difficult to provide any assistance.  I hate to say this but you chose to manage the music yourself and there's no way that i/we can figure out what you did that caused the problem.

Assuming you've done a system wide search for it including the Applications folder and it's not there......
I think you will need to address this with them - did you pay them for the application? Or was your purchase price to include it? And the question(s) to ask them:
If the app store states that it has been downloaded, ask them where it is and which Apple ID they used. (the store keeps track of Apple IDs and machine IDs on everything you download).
I have absolutely no faith in their advice; however, in this case, it's not so much technical advice, but an answer to your questions: you paid for something and it appears not to be there.

  • Password has been rejected by Yahoo

Argh, this is annoying. I keep getting the dreaded bouncing icon that tells me that my password has been rejected by Yahoo! I've tried keychain repair. I've tried changing my password. I've tried deleting/re-installing my account in Mac Mail.
I think it's a Yahoo! issue, though. And it seems to be worse during the day. Plus, it's random -- I've gone months without any issues, then it happens agian.
Has anyone else encountered this? Any solutions?

Yes, I am having the same problem. I have been trying to solve this for 4 days now. It has happened before yes. But this go round it started happening right after the 10.4.4 update. All the offered solutions apply to the old version of this problem, not this new problem. Everyone keeps telling me my settings are wrong or it is a yahoo problem. They also say that it is because I have mail checking my e-mail too frequently. Those are all good answers for previous OSX/Mail problems but not for this one. I went so far as to completely reinstall my OSX Tiger and did all the updates. My first time into Mail I get the error, not after repeated attemps. But the first time. When I get up in the morning turn on my Mac, and load mail, the default response seems to take my accounts offline and then up comes the "Pop server has rejected your password". I deleted all Keychains, reset to defaults, and resetup my mail keys. Same error instantly. This happens for every e-mail account I have, whether work, yahoo, google, or ISP. They only one that doesn't do this is my .mac e-mail account. It also happens for 6 different e-mail programs that use the keychain. This problem is a new problem with 10.4.4. It looks and acts like the old timing or Keychain problem but it is not. I haven't found the solution, or got any new answers from apple, sorry.
I am in the same boat as you. Another point is My work machine hasn't got the 10.4.4 update and it is still Panther and my Yahoo account is set to check mail every 3 minutes, and I am not having any password rejection problems there.
I know that doesn't give you a solution but maybe it will help others direct us to the solution.

    Hello Vaidas Vaidas,
It sounds like you are noticing someone else is accessing your Clash of Clans data by playing the game and you have tried to reset your Apple ID password. If you are following the steps outlined in this article:

    Hi,
I would guess this is  an AIM valid Screen Name such as an Apple issued @mac.com account.
I would also guess you travel to other countries.
There have been several posts about @mac.com names and people who travel and use their Screen Name elsewhere having the name Suspended.
Can you Log in here  https://settings.aim.com/ ?
Is this where you saw the Suspended message ?
For AIM issued name the answer is to change your Password as this tends to prove you own the account.
This does not work for Apple IDs used as  AIM Valid Screen Names as AIM can't tell when the password is changed (They can only see it when you log in)
AIM's Suspended Account page has an email ([email protected]) on it to contact if your account remains Suspended.
However you need to be very clear that you have an Apple Issued Name and that you know that resetting the password that works for AIM Names and that you would like them to reset the account.
More recently this has been a sticking point.  It seems the Contact you get does not always know about the agreement that AIM recognises Apple Issued IDs as Valid Screen Names and that the AIM  servers can only view the passwords at specific times (or at least confirm them) so you changing it will make no difference and that they have to step in manually.

Safari will no longer open. It just goes back to my desktop.  When I right click on the safari icon in my dashboard it says it is open.  I was using firefox until I could find a fix for safari.  I made the mistake of changing my default search to firebox later for convenience and now I can't open my system preference or many safari or apple linked files. Some of my emails from trusted sites won't open and does the same thing.
I upgraded my original system from 10.4.11 to I believe 10.6. something about a year or so ago.  I thought about re installing my safari app but when I go to open anything connected to safari my screen goes back to the desktop.  I cant open any files that I have on my desktop that I set up through safari, like my banking program. Prior to changing system preference to safari default I was able to open those files and now I can't get into change it back.  Can you guide me through this?
    Thanks,
    Betty

Try running the 10.6.8 combo update.
    10.6.8 Combo Updater
    System Preferences or Safari Preferences?
    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Lately I have been getting a rectangular screen titled Login Setting, with my Username and Password and asking me to Login.  This screen shows up on opening the computer and has never been seen before the last month or so.  It has one box titled Login Credentials with a username and password field and a second box titled Login Status at the bottom where it says "Profile not found" in red.   I've never seen this before and ignoring it does not effect any operations.   Is this legitimate or some kind of identity fishing?

Flashback - Detect and remove the uprising Mac OS X Trojan...
    http://www.mac-and-i.net/2012/04/flashback-detect-and-remove-uprising.html
In order to avoid detection, the installer will first look for the presence of some antivirus tools and other utilities that might be present on a power user's system, which according to F-Secure include the following:
    /Library/Little Snitch
    /Developer/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode
    /Applications/VirusBarrier X6.app
    /Applications/iAntiVirus/iAntiVirus.app
    /Applications/avast!.app
    /Applications/ClamXav.app
    /Applications/HTTPScoop.app
    /Applications/Packet Peeper.app
If these tools are found, then the malware deletes itself in an attempt to prevent detection by those who have the means and capability to do so. Many malware programs use this behavior, as was seen in others such as the Tsunami malware bot.
