Search in Numbers 09

Hi,
I found some strange behavior.
If seraching in numbers that has been categorized You cant find things any longer. In Spotlight it still shows that there is Your search in the file, but it don`t shows up in numbers.
Has somebody any explanation to this ?

What are you searching in the document ?
If it is a result the described behavior is logical.
The results are stored in the file so Spotlight may find them.
When the program is running the search doesn't apply to the categorized results.
My guess is that categories imply different buffers which are not searched.

VL02N-How search serial numbers quickly in IQ09 screen???

In our company,when doing VL02N for Outbound Delivery,sometimes for the finished product with serial numbers management, we will go to Menu "Extras" -> "Serial Numbers" to choose the serial numbers,then will go to the screen "Display Material Serial Number:Serial Number Selection" ,the same with IQ09.And there we will enter some elelments to quick search serial numbers for the finished product,just like "Material","Stock" and so on.
My question is in VL02N we have already input "Material ","Plant","Storage Location" values,then on the screen "Display Material Serial Number:Serial Number Selection",we hoped this values could be copied to the screen,not enter by ourselves again.By now,"Material" values could be copied to the IQ09 screen,but "Plant","Storage Location" values can not be copied to the IQ09 screen.
That means in IQ09 screen some data can be copied from VL02N directly?
Is it possible in SAP?How to do it?

Not sure what you mean.
You have the find feature (ctrl + f) or the advanced search feature (ctrl+shift+f) to search for digits, words, strings etc.

HT2495 Using I-Work and question about how one can print a search in numbers. Is there a way to print it?

When using the Numbers program and you do a search and find opperation how does a person print the search findings?

The difficulty is in opening the iPod Casing and damaging it, you can get the parts from eBay. So I would suggest that you bring it in to Apple or 3rd Party Service to fix it.

Can you search inside Numbers?

Before buying Numbers for iOS, I was wondering what kind of search features it has. I was thinking of the possibility of using it as sort of a mini database that syncs notes between my Mac, iPhone and iPad, without paying monthly for a cloud service like Evernote.
Another possibility is using Bento - but that would be more of an investment.
But if there are no search features it wouldn't help.

Thanks. I'm not sure if I need it, but it's useful to know. I never use Numbers on my Mac. I have an older version of iWork, but I found I never used it and use Office instead. So if I got it it would just be to access spreadsheets on my iOS devices. But there may be alternatives to that.

Formatted Search Document Numbering

I am trying to place a formatted search in the document number series of PO to change it to a particular numbering series whenever the supplier code starts with '0'.

It just seems to come back with an internal error, is this possilbe? if so how?

Search on Numbers is strangely intermittent

Whenever I do a search, for just a simple word, on a numbers document I can never be sure if it will work. Much of the time it will go to the word I'm looking for. But even on advanced search and with loop checked, and trying "next" and "previous" it just doesn't seem to be able to find something that is indeed in the document. Right before typing this question, I tried one more time on one of the words it refused to find, lo and behold, it found it. What's up?

No sure how to get rid of questions that are not solved. I'm clicking solved, but the problem hasnt' occurred lately and there were no suggestions on why it could not find a simple work in a document. The only answer was rude and did not make a constructive remark.

Can't type (search) PANTONE+ numbers in InDesign CS5 7.0.4 Color Books

There is a glaring issue in trying to select Pantone+ colors by typing in the color number, like 97-8 (from the CMYK Pantone+ book) yields 17-1?! I have no idea why that comes up. And the panel is almost unusable due to this inexcusable oversight. It needs to be searchable by exact Pantone+ number. JUST LIKE REGULAR PANTONE NUMBERS in the regular color book, I could type in 18-1 and get 18-1 not some obscure number.
I have seen a few similar posts without proper answers EVEN IF it said it was answered.
I have pantone+ libraries installed. They just don't work when it comes to typing in the number you want...you have to scroll, and the scroll is way too slow or way too fast and very painful to use.

This seems to only be the case with the Pantone+ Process color books. "Pantone+ CMYK Coated" & "Pantone+ CMYK Coated". This is a huge problem for me since 99.9% of our jobs are CMYK.
And I did reinstall the swatches recently and that did not fix InDesign.
But the Pantone+ CMYK color books work in Illustrator CS5 just fine... you can type in your number and get your color.

Search for numberic

What would be the fastest way to get this result: -
Given an alphanumeric ABC123, and expected result is 123.
This alphanumeric would be dynamically changed, but the alpha is constantly comes first then numeric. It could be DDD123 or AAAAB123, and the expected result is 123.

Searching for tracks with numbers?

most of my music is classical in nature, and occasionally I will search for a specific work, and forget that the ipod classic doesn't have numbers as a search option, or am I missing the numbers? It's far easier to look up a Bartok work by the S# than looking up "concerto for orchestra" it takes awhile to type out in the search function, is this my only option? or is there some way i can search with numbers?

Answered my own question:
Highlight the playlist or playlist folder
Put the track in the seach field
Uncheck Search Entire Library in search box
Search
Right click > Show in Playlist (will show all playlists featuring the track within that folder)

Your profile shows MAC OS X 10.7.4, but your Tags include mavericks. Mavericks is OS X 10.9.x
I suspect you have Numbers 3 on your machine. Do a Spotlight search for Numbers. If Numbers 3 is on your machine, it will be in your Applications folder. Numbers 2 (Numbers '09) has been moved to a folder called iWork '09 within your Applications folder.

Address Book -- Importing CSV File created by Numbers

I'm trying to import a csv file generated from MS outlook into address book. When I attempt to import the csv file that Outlook created, Address Book is able to recognize the file. However, I need to modify the file before importing. To do that, I opened in Numbers, deleted some columns and renamed some columns. Then, I exported from Numbers as a .CSV file. However, when I try to import the .CSV file created by numbers, I get the error that I have modified with Numbers, I get the error "Text file import failure".
Does anybody know why address book can't import a CSV file created by Numbers?

Many people have run into this problem, including myself. I had worked many hours on a spreadsheet in Numbers, exported to CSV, and received the error message when trying to import into Address Book. The answers to this dilemma are out there, but tidbits of the whole answer are spread around discussion boards. So I hope to consolidate those answers here.
The main problem for me -- and it's reasonable to assume that others receive the "Text File import error" for the same reason -- is that 1) I had commas in my spreadsheet, and 2) I had hidden RETURNs in the spreadsheet. Once I got rid of those two things, I had no problem importing into Address Book.
Deleting Commas>
The problem with commas in your spreadsheet is that the CSV format uses commas to distinguish when a new cell is formed. So having other commas will inevitably confuse Address Book during the attempted import. I didn't have too many commas in my spreadsheet, so I was able to quickly remove them. Yet, if you have dozens or hundreds of cells with commas in them, you'll need an easier solution. I imagine opening Number's Inspector>Cell Inspector>Format will have the solution of removing commas from, say, currency amounts or something else. Yet, how many commas arise in contact information? Perhaps the easiest way is to use the same method of removing those hidden RETURNs. Read on...
Deleting Hidden RETURNs>
You can't see them, and I couldn't find a "show invisibles" option in Numbers. So you need to search and find them. Yet, how do you search for something hidden? Do the Command-F thing to bring up the search field. The search bar should automatically be ready to search what you type. Hitting the Return key will do nothing for you, but hitting Shift-Option-Return will (you'll likely need to hit Return again to actually perform the search). Numbers will point out how many times these hidden returns are in your spreadsheet, which cells contain them, and give you the option to automatically replace them with something else (a space is a safe option). You can do the same search and replace with commas too.
Save your spreadsheet, export it as CSV, and -- as long as the only errors stemmed from commas and hidden RETURNs -- you shouldn't have a problem having Address Book import it. Good luck!
PS- After importing my spreadsheet, I noticed that some of my Smart Groups in Address Book were not showing some people who should have automatically been in there. The problem was that the Smart Group search had straight apostrophes in it, but the imported contact had curved apostrophes. The computer saw these as two unrelated characters. After some copying and pasting, the problem was solved.

HTML character entities problem in saved regex search and replace query

I have a many search and replace regular expression queries (.dwr files) that I have saved. I have a problem specifically with saved queries that contain HTML entities such as "& nbsp ; " or "& shy ;" (spaces added otherwise code doesn't render in browser). For example if I use the following search:
([\d]{3}& shy ;[\d]{3}& shy ;[\d]{4}|[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{4})
(which searches for numbers in the 888-555-1234 or 888 555 1234 formats)
This will work fine if I manually enter it into the search text area. However if I save it to file and reload it, it will no longer work because the  and characters are now displayed as " " (space) and "-"(shy) rendering the saved query useless as it's no longer searching for the code. I have some fairly long and complex queries and this is becoming a problem.

Thanks for your reply Kenneth, but that is not what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm looking for the HTML entities that exist in the source code which are & shy ; and & nbsp ; (without the spaces). As I mentioned above, if I enter them manually in the search box, I will get the corrrect results. If I save the search and then reload it, the special characters are no longer in HTML and the search is now useless.
Just for example again
In an open document in code view insert a number in the format (without the spaces): 888& nbsp;888& nbsp ;8888
Open a search dialog box and enter (without the spaces): [\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{4}
The search will find that entry.
Save search as phone.dwr for example. Then load it and try the search again. It won't work because upon loading the search Dreamweaver replaces the HTML code which was saved with the rendered HTML. So now the search shows up as: [\d]{3} [\d]{3} [\d]{4} which will not find the string with hard coded non-breaking spaces that I'm looking for.
Basically I want to be able to save a search query for reuse. When I load a search query, I want it to be exactly what I saved, not something that DW has rendered (that doesn't work).
