Search in photoshop

I've have not had any issues with photoshop since doing the upgrade about 1 week ago. Today I noticed when I attempt to open a file from a search, the icons show the blue psd thumbnail rather than the file as it has in the past. If I try and open the file it freezes the app. (spinning beach ball). If I just click on the file to see the path, and open it from the original folder, everything seems fine...get the actual file thumbnail and I can open fine. This problem only happens when I try to open from the "search" location...
I know, just find the path, go to the folder and open....but this only starting doing this today. I don't know if it is a finder problem or a photoshop issue. I have opened the finder with photoshop closed and it shows the actual psd thumbnails, not the blue psd icon..
Anyone have a similar issue?

Hi,
Photoshop can open many files at once.
You can select many files in the Finder using various modifier keys
Click on one then Shift Key+Click on a second item includes all between First and Last click.
Using the Apple Key (First Left from Space Bar) will highlight individual subsequent Clicks to select things from within a List that are not consecutive.
You can then open them in the normal way.
I am sure PhotoShop has a Batch option so you can use that to Save them all.
(I have PhotoShop Elements but have never tried Batch tasks.)
I would suggest that if Photoshop is changing PSD (PhotoShop Deluxe) files to Photoshop files as they are Opened you may find you can just Quit Photoshop and it will ask you if you want to Save the items.

Why is it not possible to do an on line search in Photoshop?

Today I tried the online search facility in Photoshop CS5.5.
It does not seem to work, as a search for any item came up with "an unexpected error has ocurred - please enter your search item again" - same result every time regardless of the item being searched for.
Is this normal, is it a special feature of Photoshop, or are the files off-line at the weekend.
Searching the local files that I had downloaded months ago worked fine.

Kuler search in Photoshop not working

I am trying to use the search tool in the Kuler extension in photoshop, but it is unresponsive. It does not show any search results, or seem to do anything when I type in the search field and hit return. I am trying to access my color themes through the Kuler pallete, so I can edit them in photoshop. I know that the Kuler palette is connecting to the online site, as I can see the public themes + I am also able to upload to Kuler throgh photoshop.

Same here. I can see all my old Kuler themes on the web and in Photoshop, but when I add a new one on the newer Adobe Colors website, those themes never show up in the Photoshop extension. Seems broke! I am also using latest PS CC, but maybe there is a Kuler extension update?

Make Searching in CS3 Bridge more like searching within Photoshop Album

For example, in Photoshop album if I wish to see photos that contain BOTH "Tag1" and "Tag2", I click on these two tags and only those photos that contain BOTH of these tags appear.
In Bridge CS3 if I click "Keyword1" and "Keyword2", I see every photo that contains all of these individual keywords. What if I only want to see those photos that contain BOTH "Keyword1" and "Keyword2"?
Please make seraching within CS3 Bridge more like Photoshop Album.

If you click on the match box "all criteria met" seems like that should work as you want.

Searching for Photoshop element 11.0.exe

Hi All
This is my first time on Adobe Community, I hope someone can help.
I purchased about six months ago Elements 11 as a download,
It loaded fime and worked ok, a month or so ago I had to reload windows,
I use Windows 7, I down loaded Elements 11 again no problem.
But when I clicked on the desktop icon I get an error Message saying
"saying windiws is seaching fot Photoshop Elements .11.0.exe"
I have tried removing all related files and redownloading, but I jst get the
same massage. Please can someone help,

Did you use a different install location then the default? Did you rename any folders? What are your language settings? Have you verified that the program is actualyl installed in teh Program Files folder?

Searching the Help index in the trial version of Photoshop CS5

I'm working with a trial version of Photoshop CS5. I noted a post about the failure of PS Help to return any results when doing a local search. Apparently, there was a bug and a fix, as described here:

Hi all: thanks for your messages here. There was a problem with the local help download package for Using Photoshop. The team has rebuilt the package and confirmed that local search for Photoshop is now working. Please update your local copy of Using Photoshop to update the help package. Here's what to do:
1. Open the Help app
2. Open the Preferences
3. Go to Local Content
4. Highlight/select Using Photoshop
5. Hit the Delete button.
6. Then click Update
The application should automatically download and update the new Help package.
When I get to step 3, Local Content does not produce any result; so I can't implement the fix. Is the "fully functional" trial version not fully functional?
I was searching for a way to set the timing for AutoSave, assuming there is an AutoSave. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

In the help application when you open the preferences instead of local content,
click on Updater settings and click on Manually update local content, then
click manage now.

Photoshop doesn't have an auto save function, but there are some plugins for autosaving in
photoshop. (there is a recent post on the forum about this)

How to keep help search on my photoshop only

Seems like the help icon becomes more and more fuzzy to use. How can I keep the searches I perform in photoshop searching only photoshop, and only my version of photoshop? When I select "Adobe.com" under the search box I expected that to happen, but its still finding things in other applications and way different versions. On the right the drop down is set to photoshop.... but no option to say which photoshop.
It took me a very long time to find something that should be easy. I was getting hits all over the place, clear out of my application and some were as far back as PS3 when I'm searching from cc.

If they were bought from itunes, Once they are fully downloaded you can watch them without any internet. They play locally.

Creating a high quality website logo in Photoshop or Illustrator

I'm trying to create a very high quality crips website logo using Photoshop or Illustrator, but everytime I export the design into PNG, the text borders are not as crip compared with Google logo. How do I create a very crips and sharp logo using Adobe software? Please tell me what software, how to export, what the size of the document should be, what resolution, any detailed tricks, designs and pointers would be helpful. I know I can create a logo, but it is blurry and it shows. When I put my logo on a gray background for instance, the text becomes more blurrier. You know the deal.

The question points to several areas of digital design fundamentals that indicate you need to educate yourself through classes, books, tutorials. The PS Forum can't really get at all the issues you bring up; resolution, vector vs raster, web graphics, transparency and the web. You are asking how to make a logo and that is a really broad request not easily answered.
A quick search for "Photoshop for Web Design" yields a lot of possibilities. There are a lot of books and a lot of free and not so free online tutorials.

Spacebar not moving marquee selection on photoshop cs6 on macbook pro. Have not found any workable answers on adobe forums.

On my MACbook pro retina display, OS X, I'm having a problem when running PHOTOSHOP CS6 extended where the spacebar doesn't move the selection of the marquee tool. I've deleted the preferences file and also reset tool(all) but to no avail. I've also searched every photoshop forum and searched on the web for solutions to this issue. No help found! Very frustrating. Is there a solution to this issue? If so, I certainly would appreciate knowing what it is.

I don't know what to say. I see the same behavior on both my Mac and Windows editions of Photoshop.
I select the Marquee Tool, draw out my Marquee. If I need to move it, clicking and dragging inside the marquee using my Trackpad ddoes the trick.
If I want to resize the Marquee, Ctrl or left-clicking and choosing "Transform" allows me to resize it.
The tool above the Marquee is the Move Tool, but I don't see to need it for that.
I see the same behavior down to CS6. I certainly would like to know Spacebar does not work like that for me.

Photoshop Save As PDF Settings Text loses 100% Black or Color Density is too High

I am taking a CMYK Photoshop file and saving it as a PDF for a magazine.
By request, the company has asked that the color density does not exceed 260%. In the output setings of the Save Adobe PDF dialog box, under color, I have:
Color Conversion: Convert to Destination
Destination: U.S. Web Uncoated v2 (told to me by the magazine to use)
Profile Inclusion Policy: Include Destination Profile
When I create the PDF, SUCCESS!!! it works where the color density is under 260%.
I verified in Acrobat Pro X by going to View / Tools / Print Production / Output Preview with the following settings:
Simulation Profile: U.S. Web Uncoated v2
Sample Size: 3x3
Total Area Coverage checked and set to 260%
HOWEVER, when I do this, the text goes from CMYK 0 0 0 100 to using all four colors. I have been recommended by the company to keep pure back on the text due to possible registration errors.
If I export out to PDF using the "PDF/X-1a" (inside photoshop pdf export), then I can get the text to keep 0 0 0 100 but the color density goes way over 260%.
Has anyone had this problem? I cannot get the color density to stay under 260% AND keep the text to 100% black.
Any help is always greatly appreciated.

Thank you Mylenium for your reply. What you have said makes sense but I am not sure how to implement it. I did a google search on Photoshop Multichannel mode and I did really find anything helpful or relevant.
I tried playing with the multichannel just the same. I made a copy of my photoshop document first (just in case I screwed up my file) and I converted it to multichannel mode from the current CMYK. (Image / Mode / Multichannel) Under "Channels" I looked at each layer (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) individually and the text and other black areas in question were only on the black channel as it should be. Now that I am in multichannel mode, I cannot "Save As" a Photoshop PDF file so I had to do a Print to PDF option. I used the same export setting (or as close that I could tell) that I was using before and I still ended up with the same problem. My color density is under 260% but my black text is using 4 channels.
I also noticed that when I converted to Multichannel mode, the color of the image did change / shift a bit which also has me a bit worried.
Can you describe how I am to implement Multichannel mode to get my desired output? Also, can you elaborate on "custom channel for text blacks"?

Ever since I switched over to The Cloud I have noticed when trying to open with my photoshop is not showing up on the list or the sub lists, when I try to open it under adobe I cannot find the ext file to link it with .. the program seems to be working other than that...

Hello! I will guess that you are using a PC (I guess that by "list" you mean the Start menu)
Usually, Adobe software are listed under their Creative Suite folders, you can try to look if there is a creative cloud. Also, a search for Photoshop.exe should let you see where it is located, and you should then be able to add a shortcut to your start menu.

Your photos are safe, and are present in the folder on your computer that you specified when importing them. If you used Photoshop Album Starter Edition to import your files from the camera without changing the default folder, look in this folder:
Windows® XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\My Documents\My Pictures\Adobe\Digital Camera Photos
Windows Vista®/7: C:\Users\[User Name]\Pictures\Adobe\Digital Camera Photos

Found a good cursor/icon editor plug-in for Photoshop

I've been trying to edit cursors and icons, and Photoshop doesn't natively support .ico or .cur file formats. After being disappointed with the available stand-alone cursor editor programs, I began searching for Photoshop plug-ins.
The best plug-in I found is ICO (Windows Icon) file format plugin for Photoshop, from Australia.
I had to research setting the icon "hot spot" in order to have the hot spot at other than the upper left corner of the icon. This involves resetting the ruler origin. You need to have the rulers visible, and displaying in pixel units (right click in cursor and select pixel units).

I used this new-found tool in CS5 to make a new Windows aero cursor with a transparent yellow circle around the cursor arrow (in order to be able to easily find the cursor location anywhere on my screen), and the tip of the arrow is the hot spot.

If you have a 64 bit version of windows, there is no more TWAIN in PSE 13, only in the 32-bit version and the mac version.

I need to hire a programmer (freelance) to develop a PhotoShop plug-in filter. I'm in the SF Bay area, but unfamiliar with the industry. I know I need someone skilled in C++, algorithms, PhotoShop SDK and Mac platform. I just don't know where I should be looking to find a qualified person or company.
A web search for PhotoShop programmer doesn't bring up what I need. A Craigslist search under Computers didn't come up with anyone with PhotoShop Plug-in experience. Sites like Freelance.com, GetACoder.com, etc., provide few responses and all are "off-shore".
Where should I search for a programmer (Preferably Bay Area) for my project?
