Search in portal

Hi,
SSPortal has a field to search. Does this search permit to find id's for incidents or service request or only help articles?
If a user need research an old closed ticket, he need look in every page to find it and if have a lot of tickets it'll be very tedious.

Hi,
The default search on the Help Article page allows you to find knowledge articles only.
And you're right, the user has to go through all pages to find a required ticket on the self-service portal.

Hi Shanthakumar,
The "GoogleSearch.WSDL" is no longer available as google has replaced it with the new AJAX based searching and they have eventually removed it from public use as well from 7th September 2009. So, I would imagine you would not be able to use the earlier WSDL file for google search. You might have to look in using the new "AJAX Search API". Intermedia Search in Portal

Hi,
I enabled the interMedia text search in Portal. It works on the
documents that I've already added, but not those I added after
the document index have been created.
If I drop the index and create again, it works. Does it mean
that after I have added documents, I have to re-create the index?
Can I set up an automatical job to do this or programmatically?

You have to sync' the index. Try posting your question on the
Portal forum so you know how to do it from the Portal
environment.

Quick search in portal ?

can anybody tell me . What is quick search in portal , is it differ from TREX and Enterprise Search ?

Hello Arpit,
The Quick Search option that is displayed on Portal Masthead display, is basically the default search provided by EP 6.0 and higher versions. The thing is that to get the desired results in the search made through this quick search we need to perform some Indexing and classification on the Portal content, which can be collaborated to either TREX search or Enterprise Search.
Means, the search functionality and principles can be of TREX and Enterprise search, and the Indexing and classification can also be used for this Quick search option in portal.

Remote key Search in Portal Contents

Error while creating intermedia search in portal

hi,
i tried to install the intermedia search feauture. i followed all the steps in the document,i ran all scripts necessary. i started the server by connecting as ctxsys/ctxsys..it started successfully.
then i logged into portal, enabled the intermedia search checkbox. then when i clicked on the create index
button...it shows the following error,

my database version is 9.0.1.1.1 and the version of intermedia text installed is 8.1.7. as i came to know that error might be due to external procedure calls. i checked the tnsnames and listener .ora files in my database home. i have extproc_connection_data entry in the tnsnames.ora. tnsping on extproc_connection_data is working fine.
but when i try to connect as system/manager@extproc_connection_data it throws a error. what might be the problem. can u help me out in this????

DMS SEARCH THROUGH PORTAL

Dear SAP Gurus,
I'm using SAP NW 2004s ,i have connected my portal with DMS and when i search documents from DMS through dms search iview it is giving wrong result,please help me in solving this issue.

Hi sathya,
1) you had connected dms to portal using connector ( supplied by sap --- hardcoded by SAP)
2)you search documents through search iview (supplied by sap --- hardcoded by SAP -- i hope so ).
in this scenerio it is better to raise an message to SAP or look out for SAP note in market place.sometimes such problems could be solved by importing a latest service pack but then it will be informed by sap through SAP note.

Error in Ultra Search in portal. listener refused the connection

I implement a portal.I wanted to use ultra search(portlet) in my pages. so I defined an user and graned access to him. I created a provider for ultra saerch and schedule too. then add ultrasearch in page. it worked currectly but now give an errr such this :
oracle.ultrasearch.query.SearchException: WKG17005: connection failure: Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12514, TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor The Connection descriptor used by the client was: //IP Server:1521/ORCL
How can I solve this problem?

Went to the control panel administrative tool and services
After I did that I got this error Failure Io exception The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

Custom Search iView - Portal Runtime Error when in role

Hello,
I have created a custom Search iView based on a standard Search iView, but I have some problems with it.
When this iView is placed inside a page and in the role and when it is being used (eg. user clicks Search), Portal Runtime exception occurs.
Additional information: Exception during PageProcessorComponent.doContent()
When I display this iView in preview mode, everything is fine, there is no errors.
Also when this iView is being accessed through URLiView everything is fine too.
So I think perhaps the problem lies somewhere in the portalapp.xml of this search iview.
Here are the steps which I followed to create a custom search iView:
1. I've imported the following par file: com.sap.km.cm.par.bak and created a project.
2. The project name is: mycompany.km.cm.
2. I've modified propertyapp.xml file so that the "basicsearch" and "search" components have some additional properties.
3. I've exported a par (mycompany.km.cm.par) and deployed it on the server.
4. I've created a search iView based on this par and put it inside a page and a role.
Maybe I'm missing something, maybe there are some additional steps which should be made, for example SecurityArea property in portalapp.xml file or something similar.
Help is very welcome cause I'm stuck with this.
The new properties are: HelpIViewPathToCall, "TagCloudIViewPathToCall, SearchIViewPath,KnowledgeBaseIndexes

Getting error as "Error occurred during your search, contact your system administrator" while using talent search in portal (TREX)

Hello Experts,
     We are facing an issue like when our Talent specialist are trying to use talent search through their portal they are getting an error like "Error occurred during your search, contact your system administrator" as shown below.
     We have checked in our backend and for all the talent specialist search results are showing successfully.
     Anyone of you kindly help us to get this sorted out.

Hi Sarabjeet,
The XML iView uses server-side fetching, so if you are having problems with a regular URL iView in server-side fetching mode, so the problem with the XML iVIew probably has to do with the proxy settings.
And since you got a 407 error, it seems there is an issue with proxy settings or the proxy server, as mentioned in this description of 407 error:
The HTTP 407 code only applies to users who are accessing the Internet behind a proxy server. This is common in government and corporate workplaces. The 407 code indicates that your computer must first authenticate itself with your company's proxy server. Check with your IT department or computer support group as to the exact reason why you may be getting this error. It may be possible that the proxy server does not allow downloads of specific files (exe, cab, com). You can also verify that your proxy server settings are valid.
I will check if I can find out any more specific info.

Use TREX Search outside portal

Hi,
Our situation:
1.We have our intranet indexed with Autonomy search engine;
2.We have TREX installed and we have SAP EP7.0
3.We have our intranet also indexed by TREX in our SAP portal (using Web Repository in KM).
Now we would like to replace Autonomy intranet search with TREX. This means that the search field on the intranet page should contact TREX for a search instead of Autonomy.
How can we achieve that?
I have found documents and blogs about TREX API. I know that TREX Java client communicates with TREX server over TCP/IP and that they exchange XML files with the search request and results.
Maybe this would be possible if a TREX java client was available outside portal, but I haven't found it until now.

Searchs in Portal doesn't search inside the document

My searchs in oracle portal doesn't search inside the documents. It only works in txt documents, but not in word docuements, excel documents, etc...

I assume that you are using Oracle (Intermedia) Text functionality. Without this searching within documents is not supported anyway. In which case you need to make sure that your indexes are being syncronized regularly (see the configuration guide on how this is done) and that there are no indexing errors for your DOC index - WWSBR_DOC_CTX_INDX. To determine this, look at the the view CTX_USER_INDEX_ERRORS.

Search only portal pages

I want to search on Pages, not iviews/worksets. Any ideas please?

If you dont want the parameter reflected in the URL, you will need to create a search options set and use it in the seach iview that should be used for portal page search.
So in the entry "Predefined Properties" of the search options set, you will need to enter "resourcetype(value=http://sap.com/xmlns/pcd/app/page/default)" if you want the search to be limited to resources defined as pages. Leave out /default if you dont want the end user to be able to change the filter.

ERR: Intermedia Searches in Portal

Currently we are able to perform one search with Intermedia, it works great. Then, if we try to perform additional searches we get one of several errors. After about half an hour of not searching, but making no other changes to the server - we can do our one search again.

You're hitting bug 1548589. As a workaround, set the 'Enable Connection Pooling' to No for the Database Access Descriptor. Go to http://<yourhost.domain:port>/pls/admin_/ - click on "Gateway Database Access Descriptor Settings" to access your DAD settings.
This workaround could affect Portal performance, especially if you have a large number of users connecting. You can expect a fix in the 3.0.8 release at the end of January.

Advance search in portal

Hello Guru's
We are facing issue in the advance search.
when ever we click on advance search button in portal and select the activites related to me and click on Go botton we are getting only one activity, on the second click we are getting all the activites.
But it shoud display all the activites on the first click.....
Our back end system is SAP CRM 4.0, can u help us where we need to look in to this..........to over this issue.......

In tool Area Iview, We advance search link option just beside search buttion.
When we click on that advance search link it takes us to some other window for more clarity search.
What i want is when i click on that advance search link it should take me to some other URL.
How can i give some other URL without modifying the tool area Par.
