Search in TM backups works very badly - for me.

Bonjour !
To test the searching capability of Time Machine, I do this :
- In a finder window, I select the place where I want to search for a file which I know had been - say on the Desktop - in March of 2010 : in Finder/Places I select the "Desktop".
- then, in the search field of this Finder window, I type the name - or a part of the name - of the file I want to be found in the Desktop
- of course the file I search is not in the current Desktop, and then I launch TimeMachine from the Dock, and ... wait to see ...
Nothing happens this time.
OK, I click on the backward arrow in TM and TM jumps several days to stop where Desktop is still empty of my search.
Again I click and jump more or less days back in time, and it stops with again an empty Desktop that day for my search.
Again and again to the end of it without having stopped for the Desktop where I know - and I can manually check - the file exist.
Are my TM backups so messy ( I ran Disk Utility repair at several occasions without any fault ) that I should wipe all that and start for a new life ?

I see the same thing. this is definitely a bug. can't think of any workaround, sorry. you should submit a bug report about it

    I have upgraded my powermac g5 double processor from 10.4.11 to 10.5 now the computer works very bad. If I try to launch software update the application crash, final cut pro crash, when I try to mount a disk image the application crash, firefox is very slow and I can really navigate on the web.

  • I had airplay working fine from imac to apple TV. Just bought an iphone 5s, now it works very badly with both devices. Why?

    Airplay from the imac was working fine, adding an iphone 5s to the set-up seems to have led to it not working properly from either device - it skips sections and then drops the connection. Any idea how to fix?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Macbook pro camera not working -- very bad support

    I have a macbook pro bought around October 2010. It has 3 years international warranty.
    Few months back when I wanted to use skype, I figured out that the camera is not working. Took it to Apple care centre in Bangalore.
    They found the camara to be defective. From their notes
    " Reset SMC and PRAM. No go. Tried with known good OS. No go. Found camera not detected in system profiler. Checked with known good display. Camera working. Denied coverage as dent on the display clamshell"

    1. I fail to understand that replacing the camera requires relplacing the whole display
    2. Small scrach (can send the picture to you) on the outer cover of teh display is not the root cause of the camera not working
    3. Display is working perfectly fine. Only camera not working
    The relationship officers are such dumb and techically challenged people, that they fail to understand the real issue and instead just try to console you.
    If camera is not working due to a defect, it needs to be replaced in warranty, if Apple's design dictates camera replacemnt to the whole display replacement, so be it.
    Due to my feedback, some of my colleges (10+ guys) took Macbook pro. Extreamely dis-satisfied with the support cell and their techical abilities. Did not expect this from Apple. Will not take any Apple product and will not recommend anyone. Thinkpad rocks!!

  • Bonjour is working very badly

    I have a Mac Mini running on Yosemite and a macbook pro running on Yosemite.
    Most of the time, the mac mini isn't showing up in my Finder sidebar as a shared device. When I restart the mac mini, I see the mac mini showing up in Finder on my macbook pro and I can use screen sharing, play music from the shared itunes library, access shared folders etc.
    However, a couple of hours later, the mac mini has disappeared again until I reboot. It's still connected to the internet and I can connect with screen sharing using the IP address. Sometimes I can connect to the shared library in iTunes, but I don't see the mac mini device in Finder with shared folders etc.
    But are there problems with Bonjour on yosemite? How can I track this problem down? I want to know if the problem is my mac mini or has something to do with my router, an Asus RT-AC87U.
    Can I maybe force Bonjour to multicast again?
    edit: I used connect to server in Finder to connect to the IP and now the mac mini show up again in Finder for a couple of hours..

    Firstly, it is not recommended to configure a DNS Server on the External Interface of the ISA Server.
    I suspect this issue may cause by some worm/virus infected computers from your internal network. Please run antivirus software on both ISA Server and internal clients.
    Besides, I recommend you to check in task manager or performance monitor to see if there are Heavy disk load and resource consumption, high CPU load, high memory usage and high network bandwidth consumption issues.
    You can also enable logging of traffic blocked by flood mitigation：
    In the console tree of ISA Server Management, click General. In the details pane, click Configure Flood Mitigation Settings. On the Flood Mitigation tab, select Log traffic blocked by flood mitigation settings.

  • I have down loaded the Yosemite system at the constant request of Apple Inc.  My computer, that has worked very well for the past seven years is now unusable.  It is so very slow taking some ten minutes to start.  How do I get back to where I was?

    Many times Yosemite performance problems are caused by 3rd party additions that do not play well in the Yosemite environment.  EtreCheck will list these 3rd party addtions.
    Also Yosemite really needs 4GB, if not more RAM.
    You should also look at Applications -> Utilities -> Console and see if there are frequently repeating log messages.  This might indicate a sub-component that is having problems.
    If you have anti-malware software, Mac cleaning software, or memory cleaning software, these frequently cause problems.

  • ITunes video works very badly

    When watching TV shows on iTunes, the videos screen plays slowly and the controller appears (without fading in) and shows up blocky and has slow reaction time.
    I'm sure that its not my computer, because my processor is definately fast enough and the video plays flawlessly on Quicktime.

    If this is an iCloud account the Outbox only appears when sending an email, so if it is still trying I suppose it should be showing now (not sure though, hard to replicate this)

    Hi Vanaraja,
    You are very close . But chosen a different BADI. You need to implement BADI 'CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA_CS' where you will get a Tab strip. Display your data on the tab strip either as label or as input fields greyed out.

  • TS1398 my sons ipad 1 is not loading videos when he goes on to youtube through   his search engine (hes not on safari as he is on a parental restriction search engine) but has been able to for the last 12 months until the other day.

    My son has an ipad 1 and goes on to you tube through his search engine (which is not safari as i have put a parental restriction search engine on there for him) and up until a few days ago was working fine. now when ever he goes into youtube the video selections come up but when he presses a video to watch it doesn't load (comes up with the loading icon). However i wanted to see if this was a youtube problem so I unrestricted his youtube app and tried to get into youtube that way and it worked and the videos loaded. Does anybody know why it wouldn't work through his search engine now after working through it for so long?
    Any help would be great as i dont mind him going on youtube as long as innappropriate content is filtered (which is what his search engine did).

    I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
    At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
    The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
    I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
    You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

    Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
