Search & index problem! (A setting missing I think!)

Hi All
I have created a file system repository to display the content of our HR policy documents. I have then created an index to search and classify the documents and I have moved them into there area in the Taxonomy structue. However when I search I seem to get the results from more than one index and I have no idea why?
Can anyone help
Thanks Phil

Hello Phil
In order to limit a Search iView to a specific index(es), create a Search Options set and assign it to your iView.
To create a Search Options Set, go to System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management > User Interface > Search (advanced options) > Search Options Set.  The parameter to pay attention to in a Search Options Set for this specific purpose is the Search Index IDs (or Index Groups, depending on how you want to limit the search).
Then, to assign the new Search Options Set to your Search iView, open the iView for editing in the Portal Content Directory, and enter the name of your Search Options Set in the corresponding iView parameter.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Fallon

  • Search index problem

    One of my clients is having a strange Oracle Text problem (oracle 8), and I would be greatful for any help.
    Essentially, I have built a context index on a table as follows:
    drop index search_partner_name;
    create index search_partner_name on PARTNER(NAME)
    indextype is ctxsys.context;
    The PARTNER table contains many other columns.
    Now, when one of the other columns is modified (e.g. PARTNER.URL) I can no longer search for the PARTNER.NAME until I rebuild the index.
    I understand that I have to rebuild the index if I create a new PARTNER.NAME row, but rebuilding for updates to non-indexed columns seems a little strange.
    Any pointers?

  • Searching/Indexing Problems

    I'm on 10.5.8 and I have an external RAID that houses about 30GB of sound effects, a lot of which are in folders, but are in one large folder labeled, "Sound Effects". Problem is that for some reason when I want to search for a certain effect in a finder window using the search bar, it won't locate anything in the sound effects folder even though I know there are many in there by the name I'm searching for (i.e. car horn, etc...) Even when I choose the search location for the top directory (Sound Effects) as opposed to "Computer", etc. I have the same folder copied on a portable drive and I have no problems accessing from the search bar on that drive from a different computer.
    What's happening? This RAID has been hooked up for a couple years. Is it not indexing the folder contents or something? I can't figure it out.
    Thanks,
    Eddie

    I called Apple and higher level tech was able to solve my problem by telling me how to have Spotlight re-index the drive.
    Test your search in Spotlight and see if it works (mine didn't) and if Spotlight fails also that may be your problem.

    Hi,
    I think Probably what has failed is some inner kind of operation that didn't handle the exception correctly, that is dropping the offending object automatically and it issue is raised (error). Therefore you'll have to manually drop the index and re-create the desired index (that might solve your problem)

  • Search Option Set does not exclude Search Indexes

    Hello!
    We are running NW04 SPS15
    I've created a Search Option set, and in the "Search Index IDs (CSV)" property I've listed the one index Id I would like to search.
    My problem is that when I submit the search, TREX returns documents which are NOT in the list of Index ID's.
    Any suggestions??
    Regards,
    Ove

    Hi HC
    The settings you have entered in the search options set needs a place to be stored - a search component. Try creating a search component set with standard_search_input in Component for Basic Search Function and standard_search_scope (storage for the index restriction from the search options set) in Component for Search Options, use it along with the search options set in your search iview, and see if it works.
    Try swapping the position of the two search components in the search component set and notice the change in your search results.
    Regards,
    Martin

  • I'm a MB Pro beginner (after 25 years with PC). I have an Iomega ext HD, but how do get it indexed. I'm trying searches in Finder, and it says "searching Iomega drive" - but I don't think it's indexing. How do I force it to index?

    Well I'm leaning the other way. I think my present MBP will be the last Apple product I buy.
    With the way Apple is going, all New Mac computers are sealed unit that don't allow the user to upgrade them in any way. They are getting more expensive initially. They are impossible to fix, even by Apple. All the parts are either soldered to the Logic Board or glued inside the case parts. The add on warranty only covers manufacturing defects and is expensive. And to fix one out of waranty is close to if not more then a new system.
    The only thing different in a Mac, and most other products Apple sells, is the operating system and the cases they come in. As for the OS both have their glitches and at this time there are no viruses that infect OS X. There is more software available for Windows. More choices as to what hardware you can use or upgrade to at a later date.
    Mac computers are becoming large iPads or iPhones with built in keyboards.

    And as for the question: PC or Mac, the consensus that I hear from colleagues and friends is just as you state it: stay with Mac, be patient, work at it, and you’ll never look back! Thanks again

  • Anyone having a problem with the latest number software. Docs do not open Invalid. The index .xml file is missing?

    I have been having problems since updating to the latest version of Numbers.
    When I try to open files I am getting an error.
    "The document “'13 Tax Prep .numbers” is invalid.
    The index.xml file is missing."
    Anyone else getting this message? Anyone know how to fix the issue?

    Jeff Shenk wrote:
    Numbers 3.1 can recognize both the new files without the index.xml file and the old ones with it, which it imports to the new format.
    Agreed on that part.  But take it a step further.  If Numbers 3.1 is asked to open an old document that is still in the old Numbers 2 format that relies on an index.xml file but Numbers 3.1 can't find the index.xml file (perhaps the document is corrupted) then how can Numbers 3.1 open the document and interpret it in order to convert it to the new format? My guess is that this a possible trigger for the 'index.xml missing' error message.
    Interesting link here on the new document format.

    Looks like you don't have a lexer called GLOBAL_LEXER, but you're trying to use it in the create index statement.
    Maybe it's owned by someone other than the current user - or maybe you meant to write WORLD_LEXER.
    Perhaps you could paste the whole index creation script here.

    Hi
    Have you raised any OSS message with SAP yet ? If no, raise one immediately.
    Meanwhile, try this ->
    <u>It seems the Following code in the method VALUATE_PRODUCT
    has some problem -></u>
    **"plant data
    v_index = 1.
    ls_char_valuation-char_name = 'PLANT'.
    LOOP at t_plant into WA_plant.
    ls_char_valuation-char_value = WA_PLANT-PLANT_1.
    IF WA_plant-PLANT_1 is not initial.

    APPEND ls_char_valuation TO et_char_valuation.
    v_index = v_index + 1.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
    Try changing the code - like this ->
    **"plant data
    LOOP at t_plant into WA_plant.
    v_index = sy-tabix.
    ls_char_valuation-char_name = 'PLANT'.
    ls_char_valuation-char_value = WA_PLANT-PLANT_1.
    IF WA_plant-PLANT_1 is not initial.
    ls_char_valuation-MULTIVAL_INDEX = v_index.
    APPEND ls_char_valuation TO et_char_valuation.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.

  • ColdFusion Verity Search Float Problem

    I have a database full of products.  One of the fields for each product in the database is a minimum price.  I'm trying to create a search that says something like "find all products with a minimum price between X and Y."  However, when it returns results, it includes numbers that are out of the range.  For instance, if I say between 2 and 3 dollars, it will return the correct results but will include numbers like 25.00 and 245.00, and when I do something like "between 4 and 5 dollars" it returns the correct results with additional numbers like "40.00" and "434.00."  So it seems to me that ColdFusion can't process the floating number correctly...It sees a number like "40.00" and assumes its in the range between 4 and 5.  Here is my code for the indexing:
    <cfquery name="v_qryProductInfo" datasource="#application.DSN#">
    SELECT DISTINCT    SP.pk_storeProductID,
                    P.productName,
                    C.categoryName,
                    P.prodTimeMin,
                    P.prodTimeMax,
                    PD.miniDesc,
                    PD.keywords,
                    CONVERT(float, (dbo.getMinPrice(pk_storeProductID))) AS minPrice
    FROM             tblProduct P
    INNER JOIN        tblProductDescription PD ON P.pk_productID = PD.fk_productID
    INNER JOIN        tblStoreProduct SP ON P.pk_productID = SP.fk_productID
    INNER JOIN        tblProductSubCategory PSC ON SP.pk_storeProductID = PSC.fk_productID
    INNER JOIN        tblSubCategory SC ON SC.pk_subCategoryID = PSC.fk_subCategoryID
    INNER JOIN        tblCategory C ON C.pk_categoryID = SC.fk_categoryID
    WHERE            (SP.blnStoreActive = 1)
    AND                (SP.fk_storeID = #application.storeID#)
    </cfquery>
    <cfdump var="#v_qryProductInfo#">
    <h1>Indexing data...</h1>
    <cfindex
        action="refresh"
        collection="#application.vcCollection#"
        key="pk_storeProductID"
        type="custom"
        title="productName"
        query="v_qryProductInfo"
        body="miniDesc, keywords, pk_storeProductID, minPrice"
        Custom1="minPrice"
        Custom2="prodTimeMin"
        Custom3="prodTimeMax"
        Custom4="categoryName"
    >
    My cfsearch tag criteria looks like this:
        <cfsearch
            criteria="CF_CUSTOM1 >= #priceRangeMin# <AND> CF_CUSTOM1 <= #priceRangeMax#"
            name="qryFoundProducts"
            collection="#application.vcCollection#">
    I've made the Custom1 column for the indexing the "minPrice" which is calculated as a function in my database.  I've even tried making sure the number that is being entered in the Custom1 index is a float by using the CONVERT function in my SQL code.  Any ideas why ColdFusion can't properly relate a float?  It seems like it's trying to compare a string and a float, which isn't working too well.
    Any info would be greatly apprecaited.

    Well, firstly: don't blame Adobe for Verity... Verity is (well: was) a separate product, and I don't think Verity as a company has even existed during Adobe's tenure at the helm (to mix metaphors awkwardly) of CF.
    That said, one perhaps can blame Adobe for any disconnect between Verity and CF's support thereof, if Verity does actually support numeric processing, and CF mungs that somehow.  I'm not saying this is the case, but who knows?
    What Adobe perhaps didn't do is ditch or deprecate Verity earlier than it did.  Lucene's been around for ages, and has been solid for ages, so I don't know why they didn't revise their search engine support earlier than they did.  Oh well.
    Now: your issue.
    First thing, this won't work:
    <cfset keyList = #Val(ValueList(qryFoundProducts.key))#>
    val() returns the value of a number, whereas valueList() returns... a list.  So it val() works at all, the result will just be the value of the first number in the list.  You also don't need the pound-signs there, but either way, it won't affect your situation.
    Second, as CF is loosely typed, it doesn't matter if you pass a numeric string or an actual number to a <cfqueryparam> tag, if you've said the value is supposed to be an integer (CF_SQL_INTEGER), then CF will automatically convert it to an integer if it can.  So provided the values in your query column can be expressed as integers, they will convert with no intervention on your part.
    So, in that light, I'm not sure your problem is necessarily what you think it is..?
    But you say there's a problem in your WHERE clause, but you don't actually say what the problem actually is.  Are you getting an error?  Or just no records?  The wrong records?
    What do you see if you dump the query out?  If you take the values output by valueList() and execute the query with those values in a different DB client (like MS SQL Studio or whatever), do you get the results you expect?
    What sort of data is in the Verity collection btw?  Are they documents, or DB data, or a mix, or what? If there are PKs coming out of the collection, it sounds like the data came from a DB in the first place.  Can you not use full-text searching in your DB, and leave Verity out of the equation?

  • Problem in setting up Actionable Emails

    Hi
    Hope you are doing fine
    I'm finding problems in setting up Actionable emails in Human Tasks.
    The mails are coming fine, with approve/reject buttons, but when I click on either of those buttons and send the email, nothing is hapenning. The same, when done using workspace is working fine.
    So I think this is something to do with the configuration.
    Before setting up the configuration, I have the foll details
    OutgoingMailServer, port
    IncomingMailServer, port, userName(say ActionableAccnt), pwd (which I'm using for actionable email)
    Here is my setup:
    In email driver notification under UMS
    Sender Address : [email protected]
    Default Sender Address : [email protected]
    provided outgoingMailServer, port, incomingMailServer, port, username, pwd
    And setting in Workflow Notification Properties
    From Address : [email protected]
    Actionable Address : [email protected]
    ReplyTo Address : [email protected] (this is a dummy address)
    Please note that in every emailId entry except the replyToAddress, I've used the same valid emailId [email protected]
    Is this ok? I'm ok even if the replyTo and actionable addresses are same.
    I've restarted the server. But its not working.
    Did I miss something here?
    I've gone through the documentation, some blogs, but could not find any.
    Would you please help me in this regard.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    RaviKiran

  • Text Search Index

    Hi Gurus,
    In text search index is there any way to know which documents are indexed and which are not.
    thanks in advance
    saby

    Actually, I was thinking of using autonomous_transaction at the time in a proc that is called by the trigger as follows:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE z_sync_idx
    IS
    PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION;
    BEGIN
    ctx_ddl.sync_index('Z_TEST_IDX');
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER z_test_trig
    AFTER INSERT OR UPDATE OR DELETE ON z_test
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    z_sync_idx;
    END z_test_trig;
    My logic was flawed however. This does work for those items marked as pending on insert...the problem is the commit for the current insert hasn't happened yet, therefore, it is not marked as pending. Inserting into the table does kick off the triggger, but doesn't sync the current record as a result.
    Looks like we're back to the job...

  • TREX: indexing problem

    Hi,
    I'm trying to configure TREX in our portal. I've created an index (search index) and I've assigned data to index (html files and pdf files).
    When I test the indexing process in the TREX Monitor, I always see that some pdf files aren't indexed. I assign them to index again and again, but they aren't indexed. I get "Preparation Failed" for these documents and the indexing process doesn't continue (it seems that it stops).
    What can it be the cause?
    Thanks in advance,
    Samantha.

    Hi,
    There is no need to create new repository. You can add that folder as "Data Source" to Index. Then all files and folders under that folder will automatically indexed.
    Please follow the below steps.
    1. Create a new Index.
    2. Add folder (Whatever you created) as "Data Source" to index.
    3. Save data source.
    Now you can get all your documents indexed.
    Here note one points. You will not get all the documents indexed immidiately. This will depend on your TREX load.
    Other wise if you want it immediately flush the particular index.
    1. Logon to portal as Administrator
    2. Navigate to 'System Administrator' -> Monitoring -> Knowledge Management -> Cache Monitor
    3. Note the System ID of you local system from combo box under System ID
    4. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Service -> System Landscape Definations -> Systems -> Content Management System
    5. Check that the same System ID Should be there. If not there please add it by clicking on button 'New'
    6. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Service ->Scheduler Tasks -> Index Management Task Queue Reader
    7. Open "IndexServiceTaskQueueReader" for editing
    8. Add the same system ID under "System ID"
    I think this will solve your problem

  • Strange interaction with Win 7 search indexing?

    This is probably a red herring - but just in case:
    I am running new ACR 5.7, new DNG converter, LR 2.7, LR 3 Beta2, and Photoshop CS4 on a Dell M70 notebook with 2 Gb ram running Win 7.  I have been working on a presentation on HDR technique so I have been shuffling files in various fomats (including DNG) in, out, and between apps but mostly in and out of PS CS4.  Things went unstable and CS4 and/or the Photomatix plugin would run out of memory doing things I had done minutes before.  I turned on task manager and discovered that when I closed Photoshop memory in use did not drop!  The commit was stuck at 1.7 Gb and the CPU (this is a single core machine) was running 70+% on searchfilterhost.exe.  A Google search turned up references to a beta DNG file codec as a possible problem.  Hence this post.  I have since told the disk indexing functions to ignore DNG files and shut off content indexing at the drive level.  With indexing shut off everything is back to normal.  I will turn the indexing back on with the DNG files off.  If that works I will later turn the properties indexing for DNGs back on.  If this yields any useful (as in repeatable) info I will post an update.
    Kudos for the much improved NR in LR3!  Sam

    The problems with the DNG beta codec have been reported elsewhere:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/557831 and in other forums that I can't place.
    I encountered the same issue and replaced the beta codec with a third party set of codecs.  These opened dng and the latest Canon RAW files both in vista/win7 and in XP SP3 and resolved the indexing problem.  Cost about USD6.  I'm not advertising the product so you should search yourself if you want to go that way.
