Search inside contact "note"

I always put some important contact information in the "note" field in contacts like "hobbie: Surfing" or "I know him from: Trip to Baja" so when I want to search for all my surfer friends or anyone is easy. But I tried the search in Z10 and it doesn't look inside the "note" field in contacts like IPhone does. Is there any way to change a setting to allow that? It would make my life a lot easier!

  • Still no search of contact notes?

Why can't I search for content in contact notes on an iphone 4 with 4.2.1 ?
Still doesn't work on an ipad either.
No problems on a standalone Mac doing this.
This is a pretty basic function on most phones that include contact notes.
Why is it still not included on an iphone?

Crazy, huh? I'd put forth that request on Apple's feedback link along with the ability to search other fields in contacts and calendars ages ago, but it apparently has fallen on deaf ears. My lowly PDA from many years ago searched EVERYTHING and quickly. If the concern is for speed and/or space for index files, they should at least make it an option to search those fields. It's ridiculous that this feature isn't supported on every iOS device.

  • Search in contacts not working

the searchh bar in the address book does not work?... I'm not loving the new layout either

Not that you provided a lot of info to work with, but...
Note that the search will work only within the Group that you are currently in. To search the entire address book you have to select the All Contacts group.

  • Searching by Text inside Contact's Note Field

    Hi,
I have been a Windows Phone user all along. I am interested in switching over to Nokia.
I am looking for one basic requirement of being able to search through the Contacts Field for any text.
I use MS Outlook and store lot of text in the Notes Field of each of my Contact and I need to be easily able to bring up all contacts that have a particular word or string inside the notes area. I can easily do this in Windows phone. But so far no nokia user has been able to tell me for sure if this is possible, if so how.
Thanks in advance for your advise.

    Suggestion:
6000 contacts - That's a lot. Before you get too carried away, I would add delimiters such as:
    [note]" & contentsof_existingnote & "[/note]" & return, AND
    [category]" & _category & "[/category]" & return
    You could then add other functions to your AddressBook note field. I do this regularly and have added;
[addressee2] to add a roomates, significant other, or spouse that wanted to keep her maiden name and want to formerly include on an invitation or xmas card.
    Mr. John Smith
Dr. Karen Jones, M.D. [addressee2, roomate, significant other]
    1234 W. 56th Street
    Anytown, ST, Zip
[spouse] spouse; review your contact list and greet them with "How is your wife Karen?"
[xmasprefix] mainly to add "Mr. & Mrs." to your contacts
[xmasfamily] include a personal touch; "and family"
    Others, [iphotolinks], [envelopegraphic], [envelopeAttn_]
    All kinds of possibilities here.

Yes you CAN search the notes field (for any text) in a contact, but ONLY with Nokia's Search Utility (free download http://mobilesearch.nokia.com/index.html).
The Address Book application is limited to searching by first name, last name, and company name only.
The Nokia Search Utility is very good, but it's not exactly fast. Generally speaking the Symbian operating system requires patience.
It's worth knowing that Nokia phones impose a limitation on the size of the notes field in an Outlook contact. The limitation varies from each Nokia model. But for example, notes (in a contact record) are limited to 255 characters on the N80, and 1,000 (one thousand) characters on the N95. On my old Nokia 6600 there was no such limit imposed, which was great. I often wonder why the oldest model phone had better support for Outlook sync, than the latest models - perhaps it's all about memory conservation.
I also use the notes section in my Outlook contacts extensively. Ideally I would use a Windows Mobile device for true Outlook synchronisation. But I can't find a Windows Mobile device as capable as the N95, so I tolerate and find work arounds Nokia's sync issues.
Nokia do a good job of updating their software frequently. Hopefully if it's demanded enough, they will remove the limitation on the size of the Notes field.
Microsoft Outlook 2003 also has a limit on the size of the Notes field in a Contact Record, but it's much more generous at over 1,000,000 (one million) characters.
Come on Nokia! Stop truncating the notes field!

Try going to settings to General to reset to 'reset all settings'
    This should do the trick!

  • How to enable categories in iCloud Outlook contacts and search option to include contacts notes?

So, I've seen various threads about iCloud not supporting categories as we know them in Outlook.  Categories are kept in iCloud contacts (in Outlook) but they just don't work as they did when contacts where in Outlook's PST folder.  I haven't seen that someone has found a solution to work this out without having to create groups one by one.  The other problem though is that when I search iCloud contacts in Outlook, I type in a keyword and the contact with the supposed keyword in its categories does not display if the contact has more than one categories linked to it.  Prior to iCloud I was able to pull up contacts by typing in a word in the search bar.  For instance, I'd type in a keyword of one my categories and Outlook would display all contacts that contained the word I searched (be it if the contact contained the keyword in its contact fields, categories, or notes).  Now, when I search a keyword, iCloud does not pull up the contact(s) with the specific word  if the contact has more than one categories linked to it.  It also appears that iCloud contacts in Outlook does not search keywords that are in the contacts' notes.  Does anyone know how to get these features to work?  I basically need iCloud contacts to be able to search contacts  along with their categories and their notes and display all contacts that contain the word I typed in the search bar.

    Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at some of the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

It's clearly not impossible, just different than you expect. Create your playlist as you want it to appear in the Current tab (meaning don't dump every single song from your library in there, just the ones you want) and then save the playlist.
Perre wrote:And if I try to play the m3u file created (the one with every song listed) through freevo I get a message that the directory is empty. What am I doing wrong??
Look at save_absolute_paths_in_playlists in your mpd.conf.

  • I have iphone 4S. when i make personal hotspot and say a device is connected, blue bar at top shows status of connection. in this situation if i want to find contact through direcctory, the search option is not work. anybody suggest how to resolve it ..?

while on personal hotspot, searching a contact is not work. can anybody has solution ..

Complain to the Attorney General about what? There is nothing in your story worth any such complaint. They will tell you the same.
First you have payment difficulty so credit and the Edge program are not available to you. You have to be credit worthy to get any upgrade, unless you can pay full price for all those new devices.
    Can you?
You are trying to get new contract plans, but since you are having paying on time and in full issues you will not get extended credit from any carrier.
What I would do is go and port out to Boost or Virgin Mobile where you pay a reduced cost for each device and get unlimited everything for $40 to $50 a month, it is pre pay so if you don't pay you get cut off.
Verizon although with the best coverage is also the highest priced.

  • Spotlight does not search by contact in Messages

Can anyone please help me or at least explain to me why this is happening to my Messages app
    1. This image shows my Messages Inbox. Note that I have messages from Mike De Castro, Sandy Layug and Chris Santos.
    2. Problem is when I search using Spotlight within Messages. In most cases, Spotlight does not behave correctly. I am able to type in the word i want to search but it doesn't seem to search the Contacts -- only the content.
    (a) tried searching for "Sandy", it didn't give any search results;
    (b) tried searching "Mike", it gave me a message from Mike De Castro (contact search) and a message from Khai (content search);
    (c) tried searching "Chris", it only gave me messages that contains the word "chris" in the message but no contact named "Chris".
This has been a pain in the *** since I search messages by Contact and not by content. This works fine before.
I hope you could help me find a solution to this. Tried the search on my wife's 4s (5.0.1) and it works properly.
    I am using a 4s on IOS 6.0.1.
On Spotlight Search under General Settings, Contacts has a check mark.
This happens in Messages only. Searching by contact in Mail works fine.

I had this same problem.  Called apple and no fix.  I completely reset my phone (erased everything) and set it up as a new phone again.   Works perfect now.   Go to Settings- General - Reset - Erase all content and settings.

  • How can i optimize my SEARCH ENGINE???I use godaddy.i contact them and they give me this conclusion:Search engines are not pulling up your other pages on your website because it is created with javascript. the content on the pages, (photo gallery.....

    conclusion from godaddy:
Search engines are not pulling up your other pages on your website because it is created with javascript.
the content on the pages, (photo gallery, My Recipes/Blog, History, Friends) need to be formatted to HTML, PHP or CSS. No search engines (google, Yahoo, Bing) can crawl//analyze webpages built with javascript.
See if Apple allows iweb to create the pages in HTML format and ask how to make those changes.
I spend more then 1 hour on the phone with them but we didn't find the solution...
please i need help because like this nobody can rich my website...
    www.chefdiego.com
    thank you

The part of iWeb pages that give the search engines problem is the navbar.  That's javascript based.  One way to get around that is to create another blank page in the site that's not  included in the navbar.
Add a text based navbar in that page with just the other pages in the site.
Also you can use that page for creating the sitemap for Google at Create your Google Sitemap Online - XML Sitemaps Generator.
Have you let Google know your site exists? This website describes how to get it recognized: Get your iWeb website found in search engines like Google Yahoo MSN and Bing.

  • OVI truncated many of my Outlook 2007 Contacts not...

I normally use PC Suite, but had to use OVI find out which Maps have been loaded on my cell. It then inadvertently synced OVI with my E72.
Now ALL notes inside Contacts have been truncated to appr 128 characters. Everything just lost on both Outlook and my E72!
I see in previous posts that this problem has been reported as early as last year (2009).
Why has nothing been done about this obvious bug? This is really frustrating.
    I use Windows Vista Professional SP2, Outlook 2007 SP1.

    Hi to all,
may be, it helps to avoid deleting data in your smart phone and outlook:
please be aware: pc suite as well as ovi is cutting the notices of the outlook contacts.
they cannot handle the notices of the contacts, if they are greater than appr. 1024 bytes.
I was in contact with nokia last year. They gave me a copy&paste answer, that they are in contact with their developers. I found, they did nothing to fix this bug, to switch off or to show, what are going to be edited, and they interited this bug into ovi too.
May be, That's also the reason, why their shares falling and why I sold my nokia shares and buyed a windows mobile phone, because they can handle it. I still have my n95 and I do not touch (not edit, only access to the notices via searching function) notices of the contacts.
    good luck!

  • Search inside threads

    hey all,
i'm relatively new to this forum, but i oooften used it to solve issues i had relating arch.
so here's what's really missing in this forum: you cannot search inside of threads.
this feature would really make problem-solving related search much easier, especially in those huuuge threads.
is this a feature that could be integrated?
    if yes: discuss.
    regrets

lukrass wrote:is this a feature that could be integrated?
We use vanilla FluxBB as provided by the upstream. We do not add any modifications/patches. So if you want any feature in the forum, you will likely have to contact the FluxBB devs.
And as hauzer mentioned, google is available.
