Search iView instead of KM Navigation iView

Hi,
the guide "How To... Tune the Performance of Knowledge Management" recommends to use Search iViews instead of KM Navigation iViews for performance reasons.
Can someone please explain how to configure these iViews? The Search iViews we use provide an input field which we don't need in this case. How can a search string be submitted, so that a Search iView directly displays the content of a folder as search result? Is there any documentation available?

have a look at the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/45bcc1c0-0d01-0010-1094-fe7993416ea6">How to Configure the Last Ten Documents Scenario</a>.
There you find a sample how to start the search iView with a direct result list, by adding "QueryString=*" to the query parameter for the iview.

If you need to get some BPM skills then try the BPM space itself or better yet the Process Orchestration space has the most recent materials by checking out the materials in http://scn.sap.com/community/process-orchestration
Apart from that the BPM forum can help you, but it's always best to post one question at a time.
Perhaps you could be clearer about what you are looking for?
Is it an approach to the process?
Is it how to call the backend system?
Is it how to work with the user interfaces?
Think about it carefully and then start a new discussion for each issue.

Can we use same docmnt iview to open selected document frm Navigation iview

Hi There,
I am trying to use set of two iviews, one for KM navigation iview and another for the document which will be selected on navigation iview.
All i am looking for is, when user select any document on navigation iview, document is open in right side(in one document iview). I dont want to create them as links(i mean one to one mapping between document and iviews).
If you have come across similar scenario, please help.

As you can see, that link let to set the Layout Set of KM Navigation iView via rndLayoutSet parameter.
To set paths use path and StartUri for "Path to Initially Displayed Folder" and "Path to Root Folder for Navigation" attributes, respectively.

In the EP6 version of the TeamViewer it was easily added to the "Detailed Navigation" part of the page. Does anyone know how to achieve this in EP7 with Employee Search?

Any iViews can be added to the navigation panel. All you need to do is add them to another iView or page as either a related link or as a dynamic navigation. The related links appear under a section in the navigation panel called "related links", Dynamic navigation iViews appear with their proper name in the navigation panel.

Search IViews in the detailed navigation and display history data too

hi all
we have a req. that we will put an input box and a search button in the detailed navigation pane of the portal.
the user need to put the transaction code and the corrosponding iview opens up in the content area.
we first needed the way to be able to search that transactional iview inside the iviews folder but were unable todo so. what we did is to hard code the pcd location of each iview in dynpro and uploaded that file which works fine.my questions are
1.do we have a way to search for a part.transacion based on its code in a part. folder
2.we need to keep track of what iviews user searched for in past and promp him with that T-code when he starts writing the code. eg if he type S the prompt lists all T-codes which he seached in past starting from S. very much like it happens in google.com or over ur browser address bar.
plz help if anyone is possible.

What do you mean by suppressed?
Is it gone, or just closed?
If it is just closed, you can try 2 things:
1. Check if the property "Initial State of Navigation Panel" of the page has any influence.
2. There is a javascript method that opens it.
You can see it by importing the file '<b>com.sap.portal.layouts.framework.par.bak</b>'.
Navigate to
System Administration -> Support -> Support Desk -> Portal Runtime -> Browse deployment
then the folder
ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd
and press download.
Import from par to Developer Studio, and check the javascript files under dist/PORTAL-INF for a function called something like 'expandTray'.

Need to Download documents from Km which are shown thru Navigation iview

HI,
I have created a KM navigation Iview and gave the path of documents which are stored in KM.
Now the documents are in KM and can be shown by this iview.
When i click on any document, it is getting opened automatically.
But i dont want this way, when the user clicks on document a pop-up should be given to download the document.
can i know how is it possible?
Also just beside the document, when i click on breadcrumb i can see many options like save, copy, rename....etc.
where i dont what to shown this all options beside documents.
Can you please tell me how to remove this breadcrumb for some particular documents.

Hello, you can achieve this creating a custom layout set. To do so, go to
System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management > User Interface > Settings > Layout Set
Choose a layout set - Consumer Explorer for example - check it and select Advanced Copy
Under Scope of Duplication leave only Collection Renderer Settings checked
Under Naming Conventions fill the blanks as your needs (I usually add company name as prefix)
Click on Execute, your layout set is now created.
Search for it and click to display its properties, there you'll find the four main items that compose a LayoutSet:
- Layout Controller
- Collection Renderer
- Resource Renderer
- Commands for Details Menu
You wanna work on the Collection Renderer, notice it's a custom one created during the copy. Select it to edit to chage settings.
Put the following entry under Displayed Properties:
rnd:icon,rnd:displayname(contentLink),rnd:command(command=download/style=icon),contentlength,modified
Save.
On your KM Navigation iView set the Layout Set property with this one you've just created.
This should do the basics you're asking:
- a link to download the documents
- no context menu with undesired commands
In this scenario I've eliminated complety the context menu, if you want to have the menu with just
some options you must work on UI Commands and UI Commands Group, which I suggest doing after
you have basics knowledge on layout sets only..
You can find on SDN lots of documents and threads about KM User Interface, have a special look into Layout Set, Collection Renderers and UI Commands/Groups

KM Navigation iView and long Greek folder names

We have a very serious problem. We are working in EP 6.0 SP2. Everything worked fine with patch 27 until we installed patch 30 to correct some other bugs. After patch 30, the KM navigation iViews with long folder names containing Greek characters, when we choose "Details" of a file, the iView ends with the error:

at com.sapportals.htmlb.Component.initializeFromId(Component.java:230).........
I must clarify that everything works fine if you go to that file through Content Administration --> KM Content.
Something is wrong with the KM Navigation iView.
I searched the knowledgemanagement.log and I also noticed the following error:

If you ignore the greek letters, you will notice that the given startRID after a few letters lost the path but the ancestor didn't.
Can anybody help me because all our work depends on that?

We have the same problem, but without special characters.

IView errors in Dynamic Navigation area of Page

Hi,
I am developing a Java DynPage iView on EP6.0 SP10 (NW04). The iView functions similarly to the SAP MSS Team Viewer, except that it calls an R/3 Search Help to get a list of employees to display. The iview uses the EPCF framework to generate client side events that are picked up by other iviews on the same page.
Now, the symptoms of my problem: I created a portal page and added the iview to the dynamic navigation area of the page. I have two other iviews that react to the event that is raised by my iview. They are in the general content area of the page. The page is added to my test role as normal. I test the functionality by logging into the portal and accessing the page via the normal portal navigation. Everything works fine, until I leave my session idle for around five (5) minutes. At that point, if I do anything in the iview, I get a runtime error:
"An exception occurred while processing a request for :
iView : N/A
Component Name : N/A
iView not found"
If I refresh the page, everything's ok again. This only happens when the iview is in the dynamic navigation area of the page. If it is added to the general content area of the page, the problem does not occur.
It looks like some kind of timeout value, but I'm not sure where to start looking. My HTTP session is still alive at this point, as is my SSO cookie. And, as I said before, I don't get the error if the iview is not in the dynamic navigation area of the page.
Can anyone give me advice on what to do to fix this problem?

Calling a specific folder in standard KM navigation iview

Dear developers,
I'm trying to make an iview call a specific km folder of another iview (standard KM navigation iview).
I believe I should use the "EPCM.doNavigate" method, setting the "Navigation context URL" argument to point to the folder I need to open.
(folder = "documents/documents/Mediabank/Products/GB")
But I only get to the default 'root'-folder of the KM.
Here's my DynPage code:

I put in a javaScript in the doContent method that cathes the "KM_CM_Navigation_Komponent_URL" in an eventparameter. Still, I'm having trouble passing this parameter on to the "doOnReady" for the redirect. What should I do to trigger the doOnReady?

Content is appearing in external window instead of presenting in Iview

Dear Experts
We are using Team Viewer Iview of MSS, the content is coming from R/3 system. but the content is appearing in External Window instead of appearing in the IVIew itself. This Iview has the tray which is blank and content in external window.
This applicaion works good for all the other languages except for French users.
Could you please tell us what could be the reason content is appearing in external window instead of presenting in Iview.

When you click the iview instead of being displayed in the portal content area it opens a new window? -

I have checked the properties open in new window or launch in new Portal content area all these are set perfectly but the content alone is appearing in external window only for French Users. we want the content to be appear in IVIEW of same portal screen.

Modification of a KM navigation iView display

I have a KM navigation iView which shows the first 5 files from a certain folder and below that has links to the rest of the files at the folder at this format:
1-5 6-10 11-15 16-20 21-25 26-30 31-35 36-40 41-45 46-50 51-55 ... > >>
Is it possible to set the iView to display one link, an archive link, instead of this line which will open new browser which will redirect to the rest of the folder content?

it was a good idea to post this into "development"
This is not possible by standard means. The pager element which creates the links is configurable, so you can say "display 10 instead of 5" files (and with that, 1-10, 11-20 etc are displayed). But only within this logic, not that the first part is 1-5 and the second is 6-inf.
You could implement your own component, somewhat similar to the Pager element, and add it instead of the Pager into the corresponding Collection Renderer (the setting is <i>not</i> done at iView level but within the FlexUI framework).
This component then could for instance be a link to a new navigation iView with a different layout set, where all resources are rendered.

Create navigation iviews to show differents documents from the same folder

Does any body knows how can i create navigations iviews that show differents documents from the same folder? This is my situation i have a folder that include documents for diferents countries, i want create a navigation iview that show only the documents for Canada from this folder.

The only other option is to give user access using taxonomy. But it seems like a lot of extra work to keep documents in the same directory. anyway, here is the overview of steps:
1. create index (SA > System Configuration > Knowledge Mgmnt > Index Administration)
2. create categories within the taxonomy.
3. define Query on each category. (Content Management > Classification > Taxonomy Query Builder)
4. create property: property namespace, property group. (SA > System Configuration > Knowledge Mgmnt > Content Mgmnt > Global Services > Property Metadata)
5. <b>assign props to the docs.</b>
6. Schedule the crawler to create classification index.
7. classify docs so that docs actually go recide in the categories
<b>8. Create role, page and KM Navigation iViews for end user to browse the taxonomy instead of going directly to the repository.</b>
9. restrict permissions on the taxonomy for different user groups.

HTML and XML files open in same window(KM Navigation iView)

I have created a KM navigation which is pointing the folder inside the documents repository. This folder contains HTML and XML files. It is rendering fine. But, when I click on the file links in KM Navigation iView, it is opening in new window.Here I need to open in same window. How can I acheive this?. Please help me.
