Search Layout Wizard: Contact:

Hi expert,
I just made some changes on Contact search layout step 3: Define Search Results Layout. I rearrange the order of the fields and have taken out some fields and added in new ones. I also associate my role with this new modified search layout.
The search fields are changed to what i have rearranged, but the search results layout remained the same. The sequence and order are all per "default". Why?

Once you make the changes in the layout wizard you need to specify that layout name in step 7 of the role. Then logout and login.

Putting Filter on an Entity Search Layout

Hello,
I am working on an On Demand project and i am facing the following issue:
Scenario: In Account Search look up window (one that pops up when we are associating an account to a contact), i want to display only the Accounts whose Account Status value is 'Active'. Is there a way to set this filter on the search layout? As in, i need not filter the search manually every time i am associating an account to some other entity.
Please Advise.

I hate to nitpick, but I'd adjust Richard's code just a little bit. The -Filter parameter is supposed to take a string, not a scriptblock. Scriptblocks are shown in so many Microsoft examples, but in every instance (that I know of, at least) a string is
supposed to be supplied instead.

KB2687455 (SP2 for Office 2010) Breaks Outlook Searches of Shared Contacts/Calendars

Hello, everyone! I would love to know if anyone else is experiencing these issues.
I am an IT Network Technician for several clients that have had issues searching in shared contacts and/or calendars in Outlook 2010. These users are using Office 2010 in Citrix/Remote Desktop Services environments. When these servers automatically
download and install KB2687455, the users can no longer perform searches in shared contacts/calendars. They receive an error stating, "The requested Upon removing this update, and having the user close and re-open Outlook, the search functionality is
restored. Surprisingly, a reboot is not required to restore searching.
Is Microsoft aware of this issue? If so, what is being done to correct it? If not, is anyone else experiencing similar symptoms?
Our firm has already observed similar failure of the search functionality in Outlook 2010 due to the installation of another Windows Update, KB2956128. The issues with that update are already well-documented, based on a preliminary Google search,
and we have blocked the installation of that update, where possible, until we are informed of a fix for it from Microsoft. Any information on the repair of that update would also be much appreciated.

Both KB2956128 and KB2956203 seem to cause this issue to some of our users, as you mentioned KB2956128, have you checked KB2956203? If you have installed this KB, uninstall it to check the result.
If it is KB2956203, we have been aware of some issues caused by the recent updates, and would like to collect more information for further investigation.
Can you guys share your detailed system info? Also, if you have any log files about the issue, kindly share with us by sending them to this email account:

Exchange Server 2003 and OWA: Missing search box in contacts

Don't know what has happened here, we got a new server administrator.
Using OWA, connecting to our Server 2003 at the office. He has put the Contacts in a Public Folder that we drill down into to access. When accessing from home via OWA, and having drilled down to that public folder where the contacts reside, there
isn't a search box. In other words, if I wanted to search for a contact via OWS, I can't. I have to sift through page by page, hoping I come upon the contact.
Any help here? The new administrator seems to push this off on the guy that just left. Oy vey….

If server has enabled ActiveSync you can use Windows 8 Mail Client - works almost like Outlook.
AFAIR Outlook 2013 can't work with Exchange 2003.

Photoshop crashes when I try to use Stationary & Layouts Wizard

When I open "Photo Mail" and it open the Stationary & Layouts Wizard the program crashes.

If you are using Win7, you might like to try this
1) Create a shortcut to the the organizer (PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe)
2) Right click on the shortcut and select Run as administrator (even if you are an adminstrator)
3) Try the Photo Mail process again
If it works, then you can close organizer and try again without the Run as administrator

Some contacts have disappeared from my phone contacts. They are still in the phone because if someone calls me their name appears and if i search in text for contacts they are still there - but if i search in phone contacts they are not there, Help

Some contacts have disappeared from my phone. Not all just random ones. They are still in the phone because if someone (who has disappeared from my phone contacts calls me their name appears and if i search in text messages for contacts they are still there - but if i search in phone contacts they are not there, Help!

But once again, I do not want to lose my other texts, app progress, and photos. I could sync the photos but i would still lose the app progress and texts. I would only restore if it was the only option left, but the other space, as already stated, isnt the main concern. The main concern is those 'deleted' texts. If they go, then a good size chunk of the other space goes. I know you CAN delete texts for good. It worked fine before. All i want to know is why its not working for me now, and how to fix it.
I also know that when you delete texts on your iphone, they get marked for deletion, however they stay on your device (thats why they show up when you search for them.) then when you sync your device with itunes, the texts marked for deletion should disappear. When i synced they didnt disappear. Thats what i need an explanation/solution for. Why the texts marked for deletion didnt get fully deleted after the sync.

Search Customers using Contact Phone in R12

Hi,
We are using Ebusiness Suite 12.0.4 and for specific business reason the end customer(person) are defined as ship to contact of one generic Customer account(Organization). This has lead to data where there is one customer account having 100's of shipto sites, and each site has one or more contact person defined. Now the problem we are facing is searching for a specific customer contact.
With the change in the UI in R12, we have search fields for contact name and contact phone number in the search screen, but when we search for a given contact name or a phone number, it returns Customer Account, and on clicking details of that account, we get all the sites(not the one corresponding to the contact or phone from the search criteria). So the user has to go through all the sites to get to specific contact.
We need the ability to go to a specific contact point directly after the search. Has anyone faced this issue before? Any insight on how to achieve this functionality would be helpful.

We have faced this issue as well. The contacts arent linked to the sites directly but I see it linked to the cust account.
I am not sure if thats the way its supposed to be or we arent interpretting them correctly.

Searching Text in Contact Notes Field

Hi,
I have been a Windows Phone user all along. I am interested in switching over to Nokia.
I am looking for one basic requirement of being able to search through the Contacts Field for any text.
I use MS Outlook and store lot of text in the Notes Field inside each of my Contact and I need to be easily able to bring up all contacts that have a particular word or string inside the notes area. I can easily do this in Windows phone. But so far no nokia user has been able to tell me for sure if this is possible, if so how.

Yes you CAN search the notes field (for any text) in a contact, but ONLY with Nokia's Search Utility (free download http://mobilesearch.nokia.com/index.html).
The Address Book application is limited to searching by first name, last name, and company name only.
The Nokia Search Utility is very good, but it's not exactly fast. Generally speaking the Symbian operating system requires patience.
It's worth knowing that Nokia phones impose a limitation on the size of the notes field in an Outlook contact. The limitation varies from each Nokia model. But for example, notes (in a contact record) are limited to 255 characters on the N80, and 1,000 (one thousand) characters on the N95. On my old Nokia 6600 there was no such limit imposed, which was great. I often wonder why the oldest model phone had better support for Outlook sync, than the latest models - perhaps it's all about memory conservation.
I also use the notes section in my Outlook contacts extensively. Ideally I would use a Windows Mobile device for true Outlook synchronisation. But I can't find a Windows Mobile device as capable as the N95, so I tolerate and find work arounds Nokia's sync issues.
Nokia do a good job of updating their software frequently. Hopefully if it's demanded enough, they will remove the limitation on the size of the Notes field.
Microsoft Outlook 2003 also has a limit on the size of the Notes field in a Contact Record, but it's much more generous at over 1,000,000 (one million) characters.
Come on Nokia! Stop truncating the notes field!

Search Layout Set

Hi all,
We are trying to implement 2 search layout sets such that one layout renders the search result to end users without the 'Details' link and the other renders the results to Content administrators with the Details link.
If it would be considerably easier we wouldn't mind having two separate search iviews carrying two distinct Layout sets and then assign the respective Iviews to the respective roles.
We're on EP 6 SP4.

First duplicate the existing layoutsets by going to systemadministration>systemconfiguration> Knowledgemanagement> contentManagement>user interface
using duplicate and then remove the command groups from the displayed list for details and save it in the iview level use in property editoe use layoutset as your duplicated one and layoutset mode as FORCE.hope this helps you.please do n,t forget to give points

Is it possible to prefix a field with value in search layout in CRMOnDemand

Hi Folks,
We have a requirment where customer wants to prefix Service Request No field with "489124-" in the search layout,so that the agent can type in the remaining part of the SR number in the search layout w/o having to type "489124" every time as it is same for every SR that is created in the system.
Any help/ thoughts / ideas are appreciated.

If you want to try it out, do the following?
Dial a number from your iPhone Keypad. After cutting the call, try to save the number you just dialled to your contacts by choosing the new contact option. You will see that you will not be able to key in the name of your new contact.

Works fine for me.
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Modify Search Layout using Keyword Search

Hi,
we are using untargeted search (keyword) and modified some search layouts. This works for the lookup window as expected (other fields displayed), but the search results are still shown with the default layout.
Any Hints?

Michael, you can only manage the search result layouts for "Targeted" search and not "Keyword" search.

On a Contacts search, not all contacts appear

I have iphone 5, ios7.
Seemms very odd recently, not using groups - all contacts are displayed. But when I use the 'search' in the Contacts App, not all contacts appear. Dispite the fact that if I scroll through manually, I can see and access the very contact I was searching for. This applies to quite a few contacts without any apparent consistent link between the tricky ones.
Any ideas folks?

The search doesn't work even if I put in a name exactly as its listed. It used to be for example if I typed 'A' then all the names starting with 'A' would list but now I get nothing.

Does your iphone 5 (6.0.2) let you search content or contacts or both in messages?

to expound, i found that in my iphone 4 and previous iphone 5 (didnt connect to wifi and was replaced) i could type in a name of a contact in the search bar of messages and go directly to the conversation. now, this iphone 5 (new replacement from carrier (Globe Philippines) ) only searches content and only on the first page. it does not search based on contact but on content (which is not always consistent)
Ive tried other iphone 5's and 4's and they work as expected (typing in a contact in search brings up the last conversation)
i hope there is a fix to this as Ive searched the settings, tried to restore as a new phone, did a restore from back up and searched the web.
or am i just a lemon magnet?
