Search optimization

How can I add keywords in the web title to help with search optimization using iWeb?

See this page at Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site that deals with getting your site noticed by the search engines: Search Engine Optimization. It has lots of good tips.

  • LDAP search optimization

    Hi,
I am dealing with slow searches against large directory (10+M entries). For example, search with filter {color:#0000ff}(&(sn=Smith)(givenName=John)(dayOfBirth=0204)){color} might take couple of minutes. sn and givenName are indexed of course, but as you can imagine, candidate lists for {color:#0000ff}sn=Smith{color} and {color:#0000ff}giveName=John{color} are huge.
In Oracle database it is called index selectivity and you can control the way query executed. Is anything can be done in DSEE6 ? Anybody had this problem ?
    Thank you very much.

In DSEE 6.x, it is possible to configure indexes for dayOfBirth so the eq has a higher allid value compared to the global default. So if you don't have an index for dayOfBirth you should do that first. Then execute:
    $ dsconf set-index-prop dc=sun,dc=com dayOfBirth all-ids-threshold-eq=30000

  • Search optimizing

I understand that metatag info is not what it once was. The
importance of search optimization is the text content on the pages
especially the home page. Alghough I have text info that would
relate specifically to keywords that people would type in a search,
I have important info that is not text but a graphic, To compensate
could I create hidden text, text that would be the same color as
the background for example, and still have the search robots pick
it up as regular text on my page.

No, definitely not. There's no substitute for ordinary text
    content, I'm
    afraid.

  • Dictionary structure, what, how?

    Hello to all,
I need to program to load a dictionary from a file that contains the words and it's definitions, I need to load it in a efficient structure because when it will be loaded will be used to do search's in that dictionary, for example:
    Dictionary file:
    a
    and
    another
    etc
    hell
    hellsinki
    hello
And I need an structure that permit to me search in that dictionary very fast and to do search's like this:
    search: he*
    and result must be
    hell
    hellsinki
    hello
    search: *llo
    result:
    hello
    search: ll
    result:
    hellsinki
    hell
    hello
do you know (what structure will be convenient to do this) how can I do this efficiently?
    Thanks to all for reading!

    I'd use a http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/util/PropertyResourceBundle.html for the data.
For the search optimization, you can set up a "search" map where the keys are all possible substrings (of two or more lettters?) of your words and the values are a collection with all the words where the key occurs.
    eg.
key: "he", value: a collection containing "hell", "hellsinki" (sic), "hello", "another".
    etc.
That shifts the processing to setting up the "search" map rather than searching though all words for each search.

  • 3rd party tool for online EDB repair & live mailbox move - Exchange 2007

Please advise a 3rd party tool, a reliable one that can do live mailbox migrations in Exchange 2007 from a corrupted DB to a new fresh DB?
Also a tool that can do live repair of the DB.
The corrupted DB is mounted but users are facing many issues and the application logs are throwing the below error:
MSExchangeIS (920) DB001: Database F:\Exchange Server\Mailbox\DB001.edb: Index FidDeleteTimeIndex of table IndexAge is corrupted (0).
An error occurred on database "DB001\DB001". Function name or description of problem: Restrict/SetSearchCriteria Error: -1414 Warning: fail to apply search optimization to folder (FID 4-DBC987)   Retrying without optimization.

    Hi,
As additional, the reason for this Event ID is that this message is logged when the Query Processor (QP) tries to use an index to perform a query optimization but, at the same time, that index was updated by a concurrent transaction. In this situation the
QP will just abandon the optimized path and revert to the default search algorithm.
Basis on my research and knowledge, this warning is not indicative of a serious problem and can be ignored. Response he warning can be safely ignored, but for preventive measures it is recommended To run Isinteg -s <server name> -fix -test alltest
on the store where we are getting these warnings. More details about Isinteg, for your reference:

I have wrapped up the design on my site. I received a lot of

If you want to take a look and give me any advice or tell me

So - you don't want people who are visually- or
    motor-impaired to feel
welcome in your site? And by the way, this is not a binary
    choice. It's
entirely possible to have art and usability/accessability.
    > I love the way the site is navigated
And how does someone who never saw your site feel about this
    navigation?
They come to your site for information, not conundrums.

  • C30 1137-F4U vs D30 4354-F1U?

I'm looking at workstation for highly parallel computations in machine learning.  Looking at the PSREF, the two models seem like good deal at under $2500.
    the main question:
    E5-2650v2 vs 2x E5-2620v2
Which CPU/config would be betterfor my application?  Are there any costs associated with running two processors? My most expensive operations involve grid search optimization with thousands of independent jobs, each of which is relatively small.
    Thanks,

  • I notice I have an add on called search results optimizator 8.17, I do not remember deliberately installing this add on and I cannot uninstall it, I have disabled it as it redirected me to a search site when I logged on to Photobucket, I would like to kno

I have enabled the add on again to find the web page it directs me to...
    http://www.landing.savetubevideo.com/
This is the page it takes me to when I try to log into Photobucket.
I did install a Youtube downloader from SaveTubeVideo but un-installed it. The Search Results Optimizator must have been installed at the same time. But it does not give you an option to remove it, only to disable it.

    Hi TwoSheds,
System-installed extensions can't be uninstalled from Firefox. Instead you can find and remove this application from Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.
However, disabling an add-on renders it fully inert; it isn't loaded at all and can't do anything.

  • Optimize query results(timing) returned from custom search query

Casey can you send the following to Oracle Support as soon as you can, we need their input on optimizing returning search results.
    To Oracle:
We have noticed in the IdocScript reference guide that there is a way to optimize the query results returning to the user.
Here is the scenario: We have created a custom web query where we send a query to the UCM and return a result using a custom template via url like so
    http://dnrucm.dnr.state.la.us/ucm/idcplg?IdcService=GET_SEARCH_RESULTS&QueryText=dDocTitle <matches> `AGREEMENT` <AND> xStateLeaseNum<matches>`00340`&ResultCount=30&SortOrder=Desc&SortField=dInDate&urlTemplate=/ucm/groups/public/documents/oos/hcst-search.hcst
This works fine. The problem is that when a query is broader like
    http://dnrucm.dnr.state.la.us/ucm/idcplg?IdcService=GET_SEARCH_RESULTS&QueryText= xStateLeaseNum<matches>`00340`&ResultCount=30&SortOrder=Desc&SortField=dInDate&urlTemplate=/ucm/groups/public/documents/oos/hcst-search.hcst
The query takes an extremely long time to execute and the results template sometimes never comes back, which seems like a timeout.
Is there something else that we can do to optimize the query results?

    Hi John,
What version of xMII are you using?
    Some things I would try:
    1. Clear the Java Web Start Cache - see if that makes any difference.
    2. If not, what happens if you save the query under a different name, and then try using it in a new transaction?
    3. Please feel free to enter you case into xMII Support via the SAP Support Portal if you are unable to make this work.
    Kind Regards,
    Diana Hoppe

  • Search Engine Optimization - SEO

I am very biased creating an all flash site, as opposed to
using html or aspx etc. But as we all know, the search engine
spiders can't tap into swfs. Does anyone know how to optimize an
    all flash site,
other than using meta tags in the html? I have searched many
places, but unable to find a legitimate answer (if one exists).

    Hi,
that's really a great topic and guess its not a problem of
Flash being index to some search engines because google claims to
be able to read txt message into flash file but if you create a new
website you'll make acquaintance with the google 'sandbox' or
'trust box' effect. So, I guess the only way to get some higher
ranking is your website(domain) shoulda be at least older than 5
years and get enough quality backlinks....maybe more than 15.000
:-). Take some time and check out some flash websites on pull
position www.seitwert.de. Nearly some of them got really almost no
content but glare pretty nice at google.
Hopefully this topic goes further ...
Oh, by the way, I almost forgot to mention it...be added to
    dmoz.org can be also helpful.

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Lightroom

I have a client using Lightroom to post photo galleries and he is concerned about Search Engine Optimization. I'm not a Lightroom user but need to know if there is a way to set page titles and photo alt tags from Lightroom rather than after the fact. I'm afraid if I hard code this into the website that it will be overwritten when I goes to resave the pages or upload new images.

  • IWeb search engine optimization

I have created a prototype for a large, robust e-commerce site (using links to affiliates such as Amazon.com)and have asked several third parties for bids on site content enrichment/search engine optimization.
Has anyone had experience in this area? Can I give them remote access to my iweb template so they can make changes or can they do that directly on my public site? I'm told that iweb does not accommodate meta tags, alt tags, etc. so that there are limits to site optimization. I'm also told I need a site map (I've tried using sitemapxml but its free service is limited to 500 pages and I have more than that) I'm very comfortable using iweb but have been told that I should migrate to RapidWeaver (which I just bought) and have it hosted on GoDaddy. Again, has anyone had experience along these lines?

The best place to look for the stuff you need is Rage Software.....
Their Sitemap Automator is fast and easy.
Add tags with the freeware SEO Tool.
Have a look at SERank. I haven't tried this yet as I get found in search engines too easily!
Rage also have an easy to use optimizer but you will find a faster, more efficient one here....

  • Search Engine Optimizer

    HI,
Can anybody guide me what is SEO and also steps involved in implementing this search engine optimizer.
    Thanks
    ANU

SEO is the acronym that stands for Search Engine Optimization. Search engine optimization, is the strategy and process of increasing the amount of visitors to a site by making structural changes to the site and the content in it that result in the site ranking high in search engine results.
The higher a site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user who has been using a search engine to locate material of interest to them.

The part of iWeb pages that give the search engines problem is the navbar.  That's javascript based.  One way to get around that is to create another blank page in the site that's not  included in the navbar.
Add a text based navbar in that page with just the other pages in the site.
Also you can use that page for creating the sitemap for Google at Create your Google Sitemap Online - XML Sitemaps Generator.
Have you let Google know your site exists? This website describes how to get it recognized: Get your iWeb website found in search engines like Google Yahoo MSN and Bing.
