Search process

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me how to create a fuzzy search help for a field and how to activate search method selection and cascading search.
Thanks
Sandeep

hi sandeep akula ,
for this u have to do two things.First create elementary search helps then cascade all the elementary search helps in collective search help.
1)goto->se11
2)select search help radio button and give some name starting with z and create and u can see two radio buttons elementary search help and collective search help.selcet elementary search help.
3)give some description there and in selection method parameter give any table name like MARA,MARC.any table name u need.
4)Mention field names which are needed to be appeared in  the search help option.
give -a) search help parameter name as matnr,ernam etc.......
b) check imp and exp parameters and give LPOS and SPOS metion the postion u want by giving integer values 1 and1.then save check and activate.
like that u can create elementary search helps how many u want.
<u>collective search help</u>
go to-> se11
1))select search help radio button and give some name starting with z and create and u can see two radio buttons elementary search help and collective search help.select collective search help.
2) mention search help fileds which are to be displayed. as same as elementary search help.
3) attach all the elementary search helps in INCLUDE SEARCH HELP  tab what ever u want.
save and activate
thanks and regards,
manik

  • Contact search process

    Hello All,
    I am trying to understand the process of contact search.
    Is it correct that the normal behavior would be:
    - search in Lync adress book (by default in local GalContacts.db)
    - search in Exchange GAL (via EWS)
    - search for personal contacts on Exchange (via EWS)
    and then do a merge of these?
    And should the filters applied via ABSconfig also apply to contacts found via Exchange GAL (in my situation that doesn't seem to be the case...)?
    I am also seeing a different behavior on Lync 2013 (15.0.4711.1002) and Lync for Mac (14.0.11). Is it possible that Lync for Mac doesn't look in Exchange GAL when doing a search?
    Thanks in advance for the reponses, I am quite confused regarding this whole search process and cannot find much information about it.
    Gael

    I stand corrected. I just read this technet article, https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg429711%28v=ocs.15%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
    It seems Lync 2013 gives you results for users that are not SIP enabled as well. It can be changed though. Check the above article on how to limit your search to only SIP enabled users.
    "While having full contact records in the Address Book files enables you to use Lync Server to initiate email, telephone,
    or Enterprise Voice calls (that is, if Enterprise Voice is enabled on the server) with users that are not configured for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), some organizations prefer to include only SIP-enabled users in their Address Book Server entries."

  • Search Process HCM P&F Personalization ABAP dynpro

    Hi,
    I ahve Webdynpro ABAP iview search process inj HR admin role.
    I have a selection field called Process name .this field contains a F4 help.
    i would hide some values diplayed in the field.means i want remove few only in this drop down.
    Can this be achieved through personalization for all users.
    Thanks,
    Nachy

    it has to be done at the coding level, You need to modify the search help
    Process browser is based on the BADI implementations of POBJ_BROWSER.
    What i can see is you can enable the PROCESS field in the component
    configuration for OVS search by extending it. You would then have to
    build a WD dialog application for achieving this purpose.
    This OVS application can be triggered by implementing the BADI
    POBJ_BROWSER_OVS.

  • Search process hangs system

    Hi Team,
    One of our users has noticed a problem with the help search engine and slow network links. The user is accessing the help from a remote machine, which means that OHJ receives its help files slowly via http. The user brings up the help navigator, selects the "Search" tab, types in a string and presses the "Search" button.
    This blocks our application and no windows are refreshed for over two minutes.
    What we suspect is happening is that the "Search" function is happening on the AWT thread, which means nothing else on the user interface can get updated until the Search function is completed.
    Is there any way to avoid this problem, or could you modify OHJ to do the Search on a separate thread to keep the AWT thread available for our application?
    Many thanks,
    Wendy

    Using Oracle Help for the Web is not an option for us.
    Our Java-based application is designed to use Oracle Help for Java delivered via Java Web Start. The application executes on the client machine and accesses the help files via http on the server. We have 40-45 idx files reflecting the helpsets required to fully document our application.
    For this test case, the client machine is in Europe while the help files reside on the server machine in the US; so, the network connection may be slow. There were no errors in the java console.
    Even though the "Searching..." dialog is modal, shouldn't the parent application's interface still respond to repaint/refresh events?
    Best regards,
    Wendy

  • Modifying the Standard search process for variables in BI reports

    Hi Gurus,
    I am encountering the following issue while executing a report.This is related to the text of a characteristic value of an InfoObject.
    In the variables screen, the F4 search help for a variable is currently case-sensitive. To be more specific, when the user gives the description "East Wind" , the F4 search help returns a value. But when the search is performed using "EAST WIND" or "east wind" or " east* ", no results are returned.
    I observed a How To Document for resolving this issue in BW 3.X version. It calls for the insertion of a form routine in Function Module RSD_CHA_BUILD_QUERY. But this function Module is replaced in BI 7.0 version.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/48cfaa90-0201-0010-cebb-8ee0a29e0fc7
    Request you to let me know the replacement Function Module or other ways to resolve the issue.

    Hi all,
    The solution is provided by the OSS Note 1269398 - Case insensitive search in input help (F4).

    If the basic troubelshooting steps (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new) have ALL been taken and you're still having problems, then you've no choice but to bring your phone in for evaluation and possible replacement.

  • Strange behavior when searching a phrase using reg exp and dynamic sql

    Hi,
    I have a strange issue while using dynamic sql for an apex page. I have a requirement to search a string in the database column which is entered by user on a page item. The search process should search the whole phrase only.
    I have a query generated dynamically in the back end and use it in a cursor in the stored procedure
      SELECT t.group_cn , t.group_desc, t.group_type, t.partner_organization_id, t.partner_organization
      FROM vr_idm_group t WHERE regexp_like(t.group_desc,'(^|\W)HR Selection & Assignment(\W|$)', 'i')The pl sql code with the dynamic sql statements are below.
       IF p_search_process NOT in ('PARTNER') THEN
          OPEN v_cursor FOR v_sql;
       ELSE
          OPEN v_cursor FOR v_sql USING p_search_id;
       END IF;
       LOOP
          FETCH v_cursor INTo v_obj.group_cn, v_obj.group_desc, v_obj.group_type, v_obj.partner_organization_id,
             v_obj.partner_organization, v_obj.match_count;
          EXIT WHEN v_cursor%NOTFOUND ;
          v_search_array.extend;
          v_search_array(v_search_array.last) := v_obj;
          dbms_output.put_line(v_sql);
       END LOOP;The search works fine if the search string does not contain any special character like &,- etc.
    However, if the search string contains any special character, it does not return any thing. This strange issue happens only if I call the procedure from the apex page and the search string contains a special character. (please note that the procedure works fine even from apex if the string does not have a special character). When I debugged this, found that, the cursor does not fetch any rows (it is supposed to fetch two rows) for unknown reason. When I run the query separately, it returns the two rows (in which the column group_desc contains the search string "HR Selection & Assignment") as desired. Also, when I test the procedure in the back end (PLSQL developer), it works fine.
    Any idea, what is causing this strange behaviour?
    Advance thanks.
    Regards,
    Natarajan

    i don't see anything about a dataProvider.  you're assigning a source for a scrollpane.  scrollpane's don't have a dataProvider property.
    anyway, other than arrayRun always being false when that last if-statement executes, what's the problem?  doesn't that movieclip display when that 2nd branch of the last if-statement executes (assuming instance is defined correctly etc)?

  • Can I create a Search within one topic?

    Here is my challenge:
    (1) Building WebHelp for a web-based data application in 8.0.2.208 (I also have one member working on 5.0.1)
    (2) The web-based data application has 1530 data definitions
    (3) The Product Manager would like the ability to perform a search for a data defintion by allowing the user to enter text and then initiating a search specific to the list of data definitions and not including the entire application help (i.e., a search on one topic or a collection of topics)
    Not sure if this is possible. I would like to:
    (1) Have one primary topic with the name of every data definition in the application (again 1530 of them)
    (2) Have an entry field where the user types part of the data definition name and allow them to click a button to initiate the search
    (3) Put the user at the first item that matches their search
    (4) Each item would be a hyperlink to the actual data definition - OR - have all data definitions on one page (YIKES)
    --- OR ---
    (1) Have a collection of topics with data defintions
    (2) Allow the user to enter search criteria and limit the results to the collection of topics related to the data definitions
    Is there an "in topic search control" or a search control that can be limited to one topic or a collection of topics?
    I have looked at setting up a form with a form field/text field and command button but I cannot find any substantive documentation on how this works or what I need to get it to work.
    Any suggestions?  As always, thanks for any input.
    Michael F Weart

    Two last things:
    (1) In the Skins setup, I had to add the "Search.html" in the skin to the "ZoomSearch" button using Links and not Advanced. Having it in Advanced did not open the Search form in my help. When I clicked the ZoomSearch menu bar item, it just flashed and did not open the ZoomSearch search topic.
    (2) I got the search processing to work in my project, but at some point it stops working. The search topic displays when I click ZoomSearch and results are shown but when I click the link to go to the page listed in the results, I get the standard "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page".
    When I look at the link it has:
    file:///C:/Research/SearchProcessing/!SSL!/HPI_Change_Metrics.htm
    It should have:
    file:///C:/Research/SearchProcessing/!SSL!/WebHelp/HPI_Change_Metrics.htm
    All I did was re-compile the WebHelp, re-publish the WebHelp, regenerate the search index and repost the 5 Search related files into my WebHelp folder (in the search_files folder). Any idea why it would not have the "WebHelp" included in the path?
    As always, thanks --

  • [GNOME 3.4] gnome-shell overview search + gnome-documents - CPU 100%

    Hello
    When I type something in the gnome shell overview my CPU goes to 100% for a few seconds even after I left the overview.
    The process which is taking my CPU is : gjs-console
    With gnome 3.4 you can search for documents via the gnome shell overview, this search is based on gnome-documents. So I tried dis-installing gnome-documents and the problem was solved.
    I don't know if it's a bug... but if the gjs-console really is the documents overview search process, it's strange that it doesn't stop when I leave this overview.
    What do you think ? Should I report it as a bug ? Arch bug / upstream bug ?
    PS : By the way, the gnome-shell extension "tracker-search" is faster and, I think, better for finding documents via the overview.

    This behaviour is the same in my box but I don't think it's an arch bug but an upstream issue (its not a bug formally speaking)... maybe it should be reported to the gnome-documents team in order they do more polish to it.
    Best,

  • Conditional Display of A region based on a Search condition

    Hello All,
    I would really appreciate any suggestion and pointers on how to achieve the below.
    My requirement is to display a tabulated result based on a search condition.
    I have two regions. One region contains the items to enable a search and the other region will be used to display the search results.
    Region A is an HTML region containing three items
    1.     A text field: to enter the search text
    2.     A list field: to determine the type of entity to search (customer_id, invoice number, Passport No)
    3.     A button: to initiate the search process.
    Region B is a reports region displaying the search results
    My question is:
    1.     Is basing the source of the region as a “PL/SQL function returning a select statement” the ideal choice. I will have variable “WHERE” clauses based on the search criteria entered in region A. However, the columns returned will always be the same
    2.     How do we get the region B to display only when there are results returned from the search results
    3.     How do we base by result set based on a stored procedure in the database. Basically as an API. We pass in the parameters and the API passes the result set back to APEX. This way, I can have all the DML hidden behind the stored procedures
    Looking forward to your comments and suggestions

  • Operation of Search architecture.

    Good morning MS community,
     So far i have been done the SharePoint Server 2013 search architecture:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263199%28v=office.15%29.aspx
    Afterward, i myself interpret the diagram into the image below: This is an operation of SharePoint 2013 search from my understanding.
    My question is: "Could you please advise me whether i understand correctly about the "search architecture" - SharePoint 2013 - from my below analytic?"
    ******************* My analysis of "Search operation " *****************************
    1. User enter a string of information that he/she wants to looking for. The string is sent to query components.
    2. Query processing components will:
    - Analyze the Search queries.
    - Perform linguistic processing. Such as "word-breaking" and "stemming".
    - Optimize precision, recall, relevancy.
    - Submit to index component.
    * Later on, index component will gather data from 2 source:
    - Crawl and components process.
    - Analytic process.
    3. Gathering Data from Crawl and components.
    3.1.
    Crawl component will collect crawling content sources: invoke connectors/ protocol handler to interact with content source to retrieve data.
    - Type of data:
    + Actual data.
    + Metadata.
    - At the same time, the crawl components will:
    + Store information about crawled items on crawled DB. Crawl component will write the following information to crawl Database:
    * Last crawl time.
    * Last crawl ID.
    * Type of updating during last crawl.
    + Track crawl history.
    è After successfully gathering information from content resource, the crawled
    data will be sent to "content processing component".
    3.2. Content processing component:
    - Transform crawled items into "artifacts" that can be included in "search index".
    + How to transform: performing some operation such as "document parsing
    and property mapping".
    - Perform linguistic process, such as "language detection + entity extraction".
    - At the same time, content processing component will write information about "links + URL" to the links database.
    è When finish, content processing will send data to index component.
    4. Gathering data from Analytic process.
    * Explain about components in this part:
    4.1. Analytic process component.
    - Operations: search analytic + usage analytic.
    - Aims: improve search relevance, create search reports, and generate recommendations and deep links.
    4.1.1. Search analytic:
    - Extracting information
    + Link
    + Number of times clicked.
    + Anchor text.
    + Data related to people.
    + Metadata.
    4.1.2. Usage analytic:
    - Analyze usage log information. (retrieve this info from the font-end via event store).
    è Generate usage and statistic reports, store in "analytics reporting
    Database".
    4.2. Analytic reporting database.
    - Result of usage analytics: usage + statistic reports.
    4.3. Link database.
    - Store information of:
    + search clicks.
    + Number of times people click on a search result from the search result page.
    4.4. Event store:
    - Usage events ( such as number of times viewed).
    *** operation of "analytic processing component ***
    - Get information from "link DB", "analytic DB", "event store".
    - Extracting information (links, number of times an items clicked, anchor text, data related to people, metadata …)
    - Send information to "index components".
    - At the same time, write new information to "link DB" + "analytic DB".
    5. "index and query process"
    - Receive processed items from "content processing components" "analytic processing components"
    è write those items to an index file.
    - Send back results to "query processing component".
    6. "Query processing component" Return a set (results) based on the processed query back to the query processing component.

  • Issue using  "Find" in Bridge to search external drive

    When using "Find" in Bridge (version 2.1.1.9) in CS3 to search for files on an external hard drive I must either check "Include Non-Indexed Files" or go to the external drive and build the cache for the folders I want to search. Otherwise the files will not be found.
    Having to build the cache in the external drive or use non-indexed search slows down the search process. Is there a way around this. Bridge preferences are set to "Automatically Export Caches to Folders". I use SyncBack for back up to the external drive.

    Thank you for the reply. I thought that once the cache is built and exported to a folder, that folder would be indexed and ready for a search by Find. And when copying that folder to another drive the files would remain indexed and available to a search by Find on that drive.
    I have not copied the central cache to the external drive. So I assume that when using Find to search the external drive it is looking at the caches in each folder on that drive.
