Search Result Handler

Hi everybody,
After a search is performed that returned a large amount of results (BPs for example, in Account Search) the web IU displays only the first 9 results and at the bottom of these you can navigate to the next page of results. My question is if you know which event handler (if any) is on charge of handling this click on the numbers for showing the next results.
I haven't been able to find any so far.
Thanks in advance...

Hello,
This is done by the framework event TVNAVIGATOR .

  • Trying to search on Google, or to access a search result, often crashes my Firefox. This has gone on for months. When will you fix it?

The report tab says my OS is Windows NT, but it's actually XP Home. (Yes, that's how old my computer is -- and that's why I'm looking for a solution other than just trying to see how updated a version of Firefox the computer can handle.)
The problem doesn't happen every time I try to search Google (or every time I succeed in getting to a page of search results and try accessing one of them). But it happens quite a lot, and often multiple times in succession. And when I try to use Crash Reporter to tell you, I get one of two responses:
    (1) the standard autobot-reply suggesting an upgrade and this path; or, more often,
    (2) nothing.
I don't want to abandon you -- and it would be hard to replace the computer at the moment. So what (to coin a phrase) can Mozilla do for me?
[UPDATE: The troubleshooter program won't install -- says it's not compatible with my old version of Firefox (3.6.20, says the About option in the Help menu). And the "show details" link at the bottom of this page won't reveal your "educated guesses about [my] current browser and operating system", so I can't do more to correct them -- sorry.]

Hmm . . . I think maybe the CPU is okay, but I would appreciate any time and effort you folks could spare to confirm my work.
Wikipedia lists a "3300+" model twice in its article on Sempron processors. One is a "Socket A (Socket 462)" model named Barton and with a listed 130ns speed. The other is a "Socket 754" model named Palermo with a listed 90ns speed. The latter sounded familiar, but my left hand has worn off anything readable from the sticker next to the "mouse area" so I couldn't confirm it that way.
Checking the properties of the CPU (through my hardware configuration) revealed an interesting ID string which suggested my CPU was "family 15 model 44". And re-searching for that (via Yahoo, since I couldn't risk another Google crash) brought me to a late-2009 AMD Processors forum entry where some other expert answered a question by identifying that family and model as "AMD Sempron64 socket 754, e.g Sempron 2600+, Sempron 2800+, including all latest core stepping versions of desktop model Semprons, socket 754."
If that's correct, and I've followed along the road properly, then my CPU is also in that family, and in that socket -- which would mean it '''was''' one of the processors built to work with SSE2. And that, in turn, would mean it should be able to run the v21 of Firefox you mention -- right?
I don't know how much slower or faster v21 may be -- and I won't want to dump even the Mozilla-abandoned v3.6.20 until I see what if any side-effects there may be. But maybe there's an end in sight.
(If you have any hints for me on this score, I would appreciate them. Likewise if you have any idea why it took months of Reporting Crashes before I got any response at all, even from the autobot. But most of all, I would greatly appreciate your help in getting over what may be the final obstacle to finding out if it's possible for me and my old PC to run v21 . . . and in finding out what choices I have if that '''''doesn't''''' work.)

  • Display Like and Share functionality in SharePoint 2013 search result

    Hello Experts,
I dont Know whether i am asking a good question or bad one . but i am not very much expert in search.
I have to display No of Likes , Share functionality in SharePoint Search Results.
i know little basic about how display templates works. i want to implement these like and share functionality as actions  in Item_common_hoverpanel_Actions template. show that i can see in preview.
please if any body can help me . i will be highly thankful to you.
    Mukesh

This will be difficult. The number of likes has a managed property called LikesCount but it is not populated by the search crawler. So your JavaScript will have to read the "LikesCount" field of the corresponding list item. That would be a
lot of code to execute in the item display template just to display the number of likes. You could have a button that displayed a callout that would get the information and display it. The Sharing could be done via JavaScript in your item display template
using a REST call. You can see an example of code to do that here:
    http://sharepointfieldnotes.blogspot.com/2014/09/sharing-documents-with-sharepoint-rest.html?showComment=1428595550241#c3227376854590814312
Just remember the user must have permission to share these documents, so your code will have to handle this.

  • The way SharePoint open office documents will differ if the user try to open them from the document library directly, or if users try to open the document from the search result page.

I have a document library where I have uploaded an excel sheet to it. Now If I click on the excel sheet directly from the document library page , I will get the following error ““The webpage cannot be displayed””. While if I do a search and I open the excel
sheet from the search result page , it will open the excel sheet using the excel services inside the browser !!.
So can anyone advice on this ?
Also if I have a PowerPoint document , and I try to open it from the document library I will get the following error “The webpage cannot be displayed” , and the URL will be prefix with the following “ms-powerpoint:ofv|u|”. while if i do a search and i open
the PowerPoint from the search result page i will be prompted to either open or save the document ? So why SharePoint is reacting totally different when trying to open document library items from the document library Or from the search result page?

    Hi,
The behavior in the document library could be probably because of the Documents handling setting. Please try setting it to default behavior (Open in browser) as i hear from you that the default behavior is to open from browser.
    Thanks, Suneetha
Currently I have set the following;-
    1. On the library advance setting :- I define  “Open in the client application”
    2. On the web application setting:- I define stricked for Browser File Handling
And I have noted if I delete the browser cache and I access the document , then I will be prompted with the download dialog. but if I re-click on the same document I will be redirected to the
    The webpage cannot be displayed
And the ms-powerpoint:ofv|u| will be added to the beginning of the URL. So could this be a caching problem ?

  • Error when opening a pdf by clicking a search result. Link works fine when opened any other way. IE issue only.

    The issue:
    www.norwich.gov.uk
When you carry out a search for "co-operative bank" and click the first result (which is a pdf), Adobe Reader is launched and the user sees this error: "There was an error opening this document, The filename, directory name or volume label syntax
    is incorrect"
However, if you do any of these...
right-click the link and choose to open it in a new tab
right-click the link, copy the shortcut, paste it into the address bar and hit go
open the file directly from the library
open the file by clicking on a hyperlink
... you are prompted to Open or Save the file. On choosing 'Open' the file is opened in the browser window with no problems.  It is only when clicking on the link in the search results that the issue arises.  The issue only occurs with IE.
    Current settings:
    Client integration is disabled
Browser file handling is set to permissive
Default open behaviour for browser-enabled documents is set to open in the browser
    DOCICON.xml is configured to show <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="icpdf.png" EditText="Adobe Acrobat" OpenControl=""/>
Disabling the Adobe Acrobat SharePoint Opendocuments add-on 'fixes' the issue, in that the user no longer sees the error, but instead sees the prompt. However, this doesn't help us as the site is public facing asn we cant control user's add-ons.
    Hope someone can help.

I tried this from my laptop with IE8 and it worked fine.
I trust that answers your question...
    Thanks

  • Search Server 2010 Express: Open a PDF document from list of search results invokes adobe reader client application with error

    Hi community,
I set up search server 2010 express on a windows 2008 r2 server.
The Adobe PDF iFilter 9 64 bit is installed and search is correctly configured to find PDF-files.
When doing a search and clicking on a link of the result page, the PDF is not opened in the browser, instead the adobe reader XI client application (11.0.04) is invoked and an error raised like "could not open document .. check syntax of url..."
Right click on a link to open in new tab works fine. And PDF-Files from other arbitrary Internet Sites opens in browser correctly. Moreover when configure Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 as default application on the client it also open in Browser correctly.
I noticed googling the web there are several challenges when dealing with PDF-files in sharepoint. The following settings are made so far:
    1. In IE: Add-On to open PDF in Browser is enabled for all sites.
    2. Client Integration is enabled
    3. The OpenControl attribute in the DOCICON.xml is left empty OpenControl="" for the pdf entry.
    4. The Browser File Handling is set to "Permissive".
Please feel free to ask for more information if needed.
I appreciate any help on this. I don't know what to do further.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.
Before responding to your points I want to give a little more context:
We have an intranet based on pure html and a little aspx containing many of those pdf- files. By clicking on the links in the intranet the files open correctly in browser handled by the adobe plugin. Now we set up this search server crawling the file system
accessed through a share to the root folder of the intranet. In the search server settings a host mapping rule is applied to replace the file://[share] with http://[intranet host+domain+port] to access files over http.
And now to answer your question. The resulting urls are the same, copying the link from intranet and copying the link from the search result (except some case issues).
The event viewer not seem to show any errors on this, though I'm not very familiar using it.
If any further information are from interest and any ideas come to your mind - please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • How to populate new record on data entry form based on search results?

    Hello,
I'm new to jdeveloper im using version 11.1.2.1.0.
    Usually Im using forms 10g.
I created search panel with table and its working but problem is how to transfer/populate all the field value according to that search result to New data Entry Form
by clicking the table record or a button.
    Given :
    TABLES,EO
    1. PatientMasterIndex
    2. PatientTransactionMaster <<---- master
    3. PatientTransactionDetail <<-- detail relation
    Here the scenario,
After Search of any patient, when i clicked one or more patient (which Jdeveloper allow multi select on jtable) on the table record it should automatically transfer or copied to the text field, i want to show on the form of PatientTransactionMaster like PatientNumber,PatientInsuranceNumber etc. to be save on db as new record, also non database field for view only like patient Name, address, age.
IN forms i can do that by :PatientTransactionMaster.PatientNumber := :blocksearch.PatientSearchNumber ,etc.....
or an item trigger to populate the said PatientTransactionMaster block. ( select .... into :PatientTransactionMaster.PatientNumber,etc....)
    Any suggestion,links,sample is highly appreciated.
    Sorry for my english.
    Thank you very much

    Hi,
Do you want to create a detail record that will include some values from your master record??
Or do you want to create a record with values from your Search criteria, only in the case you do not have any results?
if it is the second case.
When do you want to do that? After a press of button? or immediately?
In general you have to handle the values from search criteria.
Additionally, if you use ViewCriteria, you have to have bind variables for your search criteria that you will want to use.
So in general, you have to know the values by using bind variables, understand that the query has no results (This can be done in many ways, depending on your implementation. if you are using a button, you could make a disable condition with iterator.estimatedRowCount property.)
Perform the insert operation with the values from the bind variables.

    Dimitris.

  • Problems getting files to open in browser from SP 2010 search results page

We are in day 4 of having upgraded from MOSS 2007 to SharePoitn 2010 via database attach.
When a user looks in their document library, and clicks on a PDF, they are asked if they want to check out and open or just open, and when they make the selection, acrobat reader opens the doc.
When a user performs a search on the same library, and clicks on a PDF in the results page, the user is prompted if they wish to download the file, and then, after they save it, the file is downloaded and nothing else happens.
The users do not want their disks filled with unnecessary copies of files.
Note that I did add an "application/pdf" mime type to the allowedInlineDownloadedMimeTypes property .
This is only occuring when using the download results page.
Does anyone know a fix for this?
    Thank you.

    Hi lwvirden,
Generally, if the PDF is added to the Web Application's AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeTypes property , the PDF files will open in browser when clicking them regardless of on the search result page or the document library.
I recommend to delete the PDF from the Web Application's AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeTypes property and then re-add it to see if the issue still occurs.
Here is a table summarizes the various PDF rendering behaviors in search and library in the link below(same for SharePoint 2010):

  • Search Results Web Part, Managed Navigation and Paging

I am using managed navigation and have a search results web part that uses the Term.IdWithChildren as the query to filter the results by the selected navigation term. This works nicely until you need to us the paging. As soon as you go to the next page there are
    no results.
It would appear that as soon as the URL has the #k=#s=11 added it looses the navigation term. This is a core part of the Sharepoint solution that I'm delivering and I cannot progress this any further and I'm going round in circles. I have another results
page that has the search results webpart on but doesn't use the navigation term filtering and the paging works fine.
As an alternative I was looking at writing my own search results web part, can I do this and render the sharepoint display templates somehow?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Stuart

    Hi Stuart,
i suppose you may need to check your design regarding this custom coding,
as i know, when i tried previously, i didn't take any attention on the query result, so that it appear as no result.
please have a check this links, it helped me once,

  • Issue in disabling button and retaining search results of query bean

    Hi,
I need help in 2 issues
    1) I have a query bean and an advanced table attached to it. I have enabled table actions and put a button inside that. The requirement is the button should be enabled only if a record is present in the advanced table. If for a search parameter, no results are displayed in the advanced table, the button should remain disabled. The moment the results are populated in advanced table the button should be enabled. Please let me know how this can be achieved.
    2) In the advanced table there is a column of type Link. On clicking this link i am forwarding the control to some other OAF page AA. I am retaining AM here. From this new OAF page AA user can move to some other OAF pages B or C. All these pages have different AM. There is a link called return to original page on page AA which takes user back to the search screen. When user goes to page AA and comes back to search screen without going to page B or C the search results are displayed on the page, but when user goes from page AA to page B or C and finally returns to the search screen, the data in search results along with search criteria are lost. The search screen is completely blank.
I need to display the search results/search criteria no matter what navigation user is doing. Is there a way i can save the search query that got executed on the click of search button. I can re-execute the query when user comes back on search screen.
Please let me know how to achieve these 2 functionalities.
    Thanks,
    VG
Edited by: VG on Sep 6, 2011 2:55 PM

    For (1)
I guess you want to select single/multiple rows after the table is populated in table and perform an action using button.
If that is the case then do not put button under table actions. Instead put it under multiselection region. Then button only gets displayed when rows are populated.
If that is not the case then get a handle to button (use findChildRecursive, findIndexedChildRecursive may not work) and disable/enable it.
For (2).. If you are on r12 below can be useful :- (taken from 12.1 framework guide)
    Using Search Persistence
In the past, if a user performed a search and then drilled down to a details page, search criteria was lost when
the user navigated back to the Search page, unless the developer retained the AM or created a custom
implementation to persist the search criteria. As of Release 12, developers no longer need a custom
implementation to persist search criteria, as the query region now has an automatic search persistence
    mechanism in place.
Generally speaking, you should still retain the AM in favor of using the automatic search persistence
mechanism for performance optimization reasons. However, if retaining the AM presents a scalability issue
because the underlying view object (VO) had hundreds of attributes, then you should you turn off retainAM and
allow the query region to automatically handle all the search criteria binding and use the automatic search
    persistence mechanism.
Note: If you retain the AM state, the automatic search persistence mechanism will not be active. The search
persistence mechanism is automatic only if the AM state is not retained.
When a user selects the Go button to initiate a search on the query region, the OAQueryBean automatically
caches the search criteria on the user session. After the user drills down to the detail page of the Search
results and then returns to the Search page, the OAQueryBean restores the search criteria from the cache and
re-executes the query using that saved critieria.
Note: Since the query is re-executed, any sort, navigation or transient UI state of the results table will not be
preserved. Saving the entire table state presents high overhead which is what this particular feature is trying to
    avoid.

  • Can I "open with" on Catfish gui search results? Yes: see AUR packages

EDIT March 2, 2014: I have answered my own question below by uploading 4 packages to AUR. Reading through this thread will help to understand what they're for. Here are the 4 packages:
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gmv/
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gnom … -nautilus/
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nautilus-data/
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/open_choose/
Briefly, open_choose gives you the "open with" on Catfish, gmv gives you the ability to rename (and move) files in catfish, gnome-search-tool-no-nautilus is an alternative to catfish that works without installing nautilus because it installs nautilus-data instead, and so doesn't need gnome-desktop either.
    ORIGINAL QUESTION
I have created a Thunar custom action to search folders using Catfish, but I rarely use it because I usually need to "open with" one of the results with something other than the default application.
    Here is the custom action:
    Name: Search
    Description: Find files or folders
    Command: catfish --fileman=thunar --path=%f
    Appears if selection contains: Directories
I can search the folder currently displayed in Thunar by right-clicking an empty space between icons, or I can search one of the sub-folders by right-clicking that sub-folder. That works great, but once I have the results, all I can do is open one of the files with the default application. Can I get an "open with" option on the right-click context menu in Catfish search results?
I just realized that I also want to be able to rename files from the results as well. If Catfish doesn't do this stuff, is there another gui linux application that does?

Here is another script I wrote to add the ability to rename or move files in gnome-search-tool (and also any file manager) using the mv command in a dialog. It also gives you a way to copy the file location as you can with catfish. It needs to be used along with the .desktop file listed after the script below. If you use the wrapper script for catfish above, catfish will also be able to use this script because it's .desktop file will be listed as an option for any file.
In addition to putting the script and desktop files in the correct locations, you will have to update the mime cache with the commands I list at the end of this post.
*You will need to install yad available in AUR*.
I tried to do it with zenity, but zenity didn't document any way to put default values into a form, so I went with yad instead.
    Here's the script:
    /usr/local/bin/gmv
    #!/bin/bash
    filename=$(basename "$1")
    path="${1%$filename}"
    new_filename_form=`yad --form \
    --title="$filename" \
    --separator="," \
    --field="Original path/filename:" \
    --field="New Path:" \
    --field="New Filename:" \
    "$1" "$path" "$filename"`
    new_path="$(awk -F, '{print $2}' <<<"$new_filename_form")"
    if [ "$new_path" ] ; then
    i=$((${#new_path}-1))
    if [ "${new_path:$i:1}" != "/" ]; then
    new_path="$new_path""/"
    fi
    new_filename="$(awk -F, '{print $3}' <<<"$new_filename_form")"
    mv_to="$new_path$new_filename"
    if [ "$mv_to" ] && [ "$mv_to" != "$1" ]; then
    mv_error=`mv "$1" "$mv_to" 2>&1`
    if [ "$mv_error" ]; then
    yad --error --text="$mv_error"
    fi
    fi
    fi
    Here's the .desktop file:
    /usr/share/applications/gmv.desktop
    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=Move or Rename
Comment=Use the "mv" bash command on a file or folder
    GenericName=GUI for 'mv'

The last line of this .desktop file is MimeType=... and it goes on to list thousands of mimetypes. I tried to include anything that might come up on a linux machine by googling for it and looking at the mimetypes on my own machine. I'm sure I missed some, but anyway, the point of having all these mimetypes is to make "Move or Rename" show up on the "open with" menu of any file manager or in my "open_choose" script.
Which .desktop files can open what mimetypes is stored in /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache. That's where my open_choose script looks for that information and it seems to be where gnome-search-tool and Thunar look as well.
In order to update /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache. with all those mimetypes the gvm.desktop can open, you need to run the following two commands:
    sudo update-desktop-database
    sudo update-mime-database /usr/share/mime
The first mimetype I list in gmv.desktop is inode/directory. This makes the command available for directories in my open_choose script, but not in Thunar because Thunar won't provide an open with dialog for directories. And, unfortunately, gnome-search-tool doesn't provide an open with dialog for directories either and it will default to gvm.desktop if you leave inode/directory as a mimetype for gvm.desktop to handle. That means gnome-search-tool can't open directories with Thunar. So, if you are using gnome-search-tool, you might want to remove inode/directory from the mimetypes gvm.desktop can handle. Don't forget that any change to a desktop file needs to be followed by the two update commands listed above before the mimetypes will be updated.

  • Java Exception during we click the item short description in search result

    Hi Experts,
We are in SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0.
When we click a item's short description in catalog search result list to open the item detail, the new screen opened with a internal server error. And the error summary is "java.lang.NullPointerException: The relationship ID is not an optional parameter." I have validated the XML mapping, I can not find any fields which were used for the "relationship ID".
The SAP notefound  in a forum is for SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 SP02 but we are using SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 SP09.Can anyone
    please advise.

    Hi Sunil,
There is only one cause for Nullpointer exception. The connectivity between the source and target system no longer exist .
Please restart the MDM server once this might help .

  • Restricting views of search results in E-recruiting

    Hello Experts,
I have a requirement in my project to restrict the visibility of search results when users run search queries to look for applications. The system should be masking the applications of the user's reporting managers, directors or VPs when they apply for internal job postings or anyone above the hierarchy level in the Org structure. There is no structural authorization provided in TREX search by SAP. I understand that the talent pool is a global talent pool with all internal and external applications, but I need to cater to this requirement somehow.
Any inputs would be of great help!!!
    Thanks
    Srini.

    Hi srini,
i am not really getting the concept of your requirement.
Candidates cannot see other candidates applications. Managers only see the applications forwarded to them so it is no issue to restrict anything as it would be HR task to controll forwarding candidates but still how often does it happen that a hiring managers superior is applying to a job below the manager as managers usually hire subordinates.
So only recruiters are effected. On centralized recruiting organizations recruiters would not be allowed to see applications of hr manager hierarchy - ok might be an issue, while all other departments are no problem. From my experience this is usually handled outside the system exactly because of the problems implicated by that.
In decentralized hr organizations we have a similar situation like in the managers case. the decentalized recruiter is working for an department so he only handles applications for this department. Employees in higher hierachy levels will probably not apply for the job the recruiter is responsible.
Could you please give some more background information on what you exactly try to achieve, this will probably help to answer your question.
Known points in the e-recruiting application I met in my projects were the listed applications in data overviews for the same candidate. Managers should not see that an internal applicant has applied for several other positions over the time so he treats all applicants equally and managers won't start chatting "hey bro, I saw mr. xy already applied in your department last month, you did not hire him, what's wrong with that guy? is he stealing copy paper?". but this can be easily handled by propper data overview design.
Another difficult issue is the candidate overview were a recruiter can see all applications of a candidate. Here the reason is also equal opportunities for all internal candidates. Trouble here is the difficulty that hiding results in the loss of information which prevents internal overbidding (a candidate who has two offers on two applications in the same company using this to push salary offers). This one is tricky and has to be decided very carefully.
But as you see both cases are dealing with applications of the same candidate not a candidate in general.
So please check if you can give some more details on the requrements.
    Best regards
    Roman

  • "Search Results Go To" tentative Bug Report

Start from the following simplified situation:
Then go tho the Numeric Control terminal and right-click>> Find>> Local Variables.
The Search Results window should show this:
If you double-click any of these two occurrences, LV will bring you to it.
Now change one of the Numeric Control local variables into a String local variable (simply left-click on it and select String from the drop-down list.
    You'll get this:
Now check the Search Window again (don't do a search, just go back to it).
    It hasn't been updated!
If you double-click on the second "Write" item in the list above (which does not exist anymore, since it is now a local variable associated with String), you will be brought to...the String local variable:
    Brings you here:
I would have expected something similar to what happens in the Search Results window when you delete an object, that is, the occurence of this object in the Search Results window becomes grayed out, like this (check item 2):
which proves that the Search Results window CAN respond to user events happening in some other windows
Now, are you ready for the best part?
OK, so if I Undo the deletion of the local variable on the diagram (which I did to obtain the snapshot above), what do you think happens?
Well, obviously nothing, to be consistent with the previous lack of update of the Search Results window... or wait... it did actually react to a deletion, but it does not to an "undeletion"?
So now we have two "Numeric Control" write local variable on the diagram, but only one is accessible from the Search Results window (same snapshot as above).
I tried the usual black magic Ctrl-Run Arrow trick, but to no avail.
I'd say it is a bug.
    Tested in LV 2013 SP1 W7-64

Jeff is saying to stop creating code in LabVIEW that has bugs.  The steps you undertook to come across this bug within LabVIEW itself are very unusual.  You created a local variable of the wrong data type.  Then you needed to search through that code for all the instances of that local variable and need to replace it with a local variable of another data type.  As a result, the search dialog box just didn't handle its updating as cleanly as you would've liked it to.  If you didn't create a bug in your code where you used the wrong local variable, you never would have needed to do the search and replace that you did.
In order to stumble across the LabVIEW bug, you had to create a certain set of circumstances that no ordinary LV programmer has ever seemed to done.  There is a reason why this particular LV bug has never been discovered before.  Using the wrong local variable and needing to replace it with another this not that uncommon.  But using the wrong local variable that is one datatype such as numeric and then needing to replace it with another of a different datatype such as a string, especially much later that you need to use the search function to find them all, normal people just don't do.  Usually, you figure out you have the wrong variable when you see you have the wrong datatype and it doesn't wire up to the rest of the code the way you might expect without broken wires.
I'm sure NI appreciates you finding bugs and reporting them.  You seem to have an uncanny ability to find bugs that nobody else seems to come across.  More than your fair share.  I don't know why that is.  Somehow I think you have a different mentality than other programmers that leads you down paths that others just never think to do.  Whether that is a good thing or bad thing, I don't know.  NI takes notes issues CAR's and evaluates them and tries to fix them as they can based on priority, scheduling, resources, ....  They aren't going to be able to fix things as quick as you might like them too.  And if it is  bug that is not significant, or not affecting a lot of people, or has a viable but perhaps inconvenient work around, then it is going to take them much longer to get to fixing it then a major, showstopper bug that affects everyone with no workaround.  It might even take years.  But you seem to have developed more of a negative attitude such as "I can't just believe NI allows this bug to exist in their code that obviously has existed for years"  for bugs such as this that I don't think anyone before you has ever come across before.

  • OD settings: "maximum search results" guidance needed

    Hello OD users -
I can't seem to find any guidelines as to what settings I should be using for the field "Return a maximum of ___ search results" or the "Search timeout" field after that in Open Directory protocol settings.
I think the default is to leave it wide open- 11000 results timing out in 1 hour. Apple's documentation says you can change that to prevent one type of denial-of-service attack, but they don't give any suggestions as to what settings to use. We only have about 170 OD users set up, but I'm not sure how many LDAP records would be needed in a search, or what a reasonable timeout period would be.
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
