am facing a unique issue in SP 2013. Whenever we search for a search criteria the results returned is not accurate always. Every time we navigate across pages, the search results change which is not
a desired behavior. However we also noticed that the refiner panel does not change as well and it retains the old count which leads to inconsistent results when user selects a criteria from the refiner.
any pointers / helpful links regarding this issue, if any anyone has surfaced, is highly appreciated!

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that search results are not accurate.
I recommend to run a full crawl and then to check whether the search results are correct.
If your incremental crawl is running, it may happen that, when you are viewing the data in the search result web part, the newly added content are not crawled yet.
So, after the content are updated, wait for some time.
Let your incremental crawl finish. Then view the results on the page.

Links in search results do not open new tabs.

I'm missing something here and in other threads on this subject. I used to be able to search in the search bar, using google, for instance, and a new tab would open with the search results. Then if I left clicked on a link within the search results another new tab would open and switch to the linked page.
I don't remember how that was set up, but I know I didn't have to go into about:config or install a special add-on for that. I think it was set up in the tab mix plus add-on.
I have no problem with the search results opening a new tab, it's that I now have to middle-click on a link or right-click + click on "open in new tab".
What changed here and why? My old method worked in Ver. 21, it Changed in Ver. 22.
It seems like all these "updates" remove stuff we used to have with no notice and then come up with more finger clicks and config edits to do what was straight forward before.

Links from Search Results are not resolving or take a very long time.

The searches happen fairly quickly, but the links from the results are not resolving. I am unable to get the information I need. It appears there are performance problems with the site.

Turn a text database search result into a clickable .pdf link to specific images

Hello and Good Afternoon all.
This is baffling me to no end, pretty desperate at this point.
I have a successfully implemented a search and results page from my database table 'products'. The results page displays a field from this table as products, msds, datasheet, description. I would like the msds & datasheet results to be clickable links to files in my images/pdf/msds folder or the images/pdf/datasheet folder.
The links are specific filenames such as msds-product.pdf or datasheet-product.pdf.. How can I get these links to open the exact filename that comes up in my search result? I can make it open the entire folder but I want just the specific file.
I don't write code very well - thank you for any help you can provide. Cindy

Amazon search results do not display properly as of Firefox 33.0

This one is a bit strange. Lately, I've noticed that many (but not all) search results on Amazon display only eight items per page, even though the Amazon site believes it is showing me 48 results. It is as if the rest of the results are hidden behind the "next page" control.
To reproduce:
1) go to amazon.com.
2) In the search bar, enter a search term that will get lots of results. For example "sweaters women"
3) On the resulting page, go to the side menu, and choose a sub category - for example, "Women's sweaters".
4) Look at the resulting page. It will tell you "1-48 of 37,824 results ..." but you will (or at least, *I*) only see eight items -- two rows of four. Directly underneath the second row is the grey bar that shows the pages and the "previous" and "next" links. Underneath *that* is a very large white space, which looks about the right size to contain the remaining rows of results -- but they are not there.
Do you see what I'm seeing? It's strange, and it just started a short time ago. I'm only now really looking into it, and IE and Safari both show me the search results as I expect.
I am running Windows 7 and Firefox 33.0.

I do see 48 results as 12 row of each 4 results.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

How can an artist show as a search result yet not exist in the artist list?

I'm trying to import music from the My Music folder on my computer. I followed the steps outlined in the iTunes tutorial. When I search for the song, the artist and album show as search results, but the song does not. When I follow the link from the search to the artist, iTunes goes to the artist list, and the one I am looking for is not in that list- where does the song go when I upload it into iTunes? And how can the artist show up in a search result as existing in Music, but not actually be in the artist list?

To make sure that it is not the project files' issue, create a new blank solution, copy the project files to the new solution, clean and rebuild the solution, check the result.

How about debugging it with "Step Into" instead of "Step Over"? Or you could add breakpoints between 234 line to 241 line, after the breakpoint is hit, check the watch window again. How about the result?
In addition, do you check other debugger window like local or others?

Problem with Search Results do not appear consistantly except for farm administrator

We have Server farm with multiple web applications hosted on 443 port, all of them available over internet for the authenticated company users to use.
When a user searches for a content on the search box on the visited page, some/many users get no results for the first time clicking on the search box, if they refresh the page or search again, it might return the results. Again clicking on next page or
page number button it goes empty. Refreshing the page shows the current page. When Farm Administrator searches, consistantly he gets the results (though the count of results increases/decreases as he changes the page number.
Web application is on Windows Claims and Only (Default Zone) entry in Alternative Access Mapping is
https://subdomain.domain.com, this is same for all applications.
1) Can I get rid of the issue by / Effect of adding local IP Addresses on Intranet Zone?
2) Will Crawl have any effect on using the Public Domain for Crawling?

Based on your description, my understanding is that there are no search results when the users search for the first time.
I recommend to check the things below:
Use the public URL of the default zone in the content source in Search Service application.
Use fiddler or F12 tool to check the requests when doing search in SharePoint site to see if the query request has been sent successfully.
Check ULS log to see more detailed error message. For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.
You do not need to add the local IP address on the intranet zone.
If you use Public domain URL for crawling, then the results returned will show with the URL of public zone even if you do search in the internal zone.

Search result is not displaying in SharePoint 2010

Hi,
For one web application only we are not getting any search results. All the site collections are of team site template. Contents are there in search scope. crawl is running fine. Disableloopbackcheck has been done. But still no result. The web
app has an alternate access mapping in the intranet zone.
Any help would be appreciated.

Resolved it by changing the AAM properly

Lumia local search results does not sort by distan...

Since the Amber update, if I try to search for anything the results are no longer sorted by distance. For example - while trying to find my nearest hardware store the first result was not even in the same country! I had to scroll down several screens until i found the one I was looking for.
This behavior also occurs when using HERE+ Navigation App.
Is there a location setting somewhere that I can reset?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

In reference to your first questions, try going to the dates in the calendar and manually looking to see if the appointments have synchronized over. Also please make sure that you are using the same calendar in outlook for your Birthdays/Anniversaries as all the other entries that synchronized over.
When it comes to the second point, BlackBerry smartphone does not support calendar categorization and it will not synchronize over the different colors/categories from outlook.

Browse search result does not add up

We are on SES 10g (10.1.8.4). I did some experiments using the Oracle provided search page at http://server:port/search/query/search and the results does not add up for 'browse search'. Say I have a parent node and three child nodes, I do a browse search using the parent as the context, then do the same with the three children. The sum of number of hits from the three children is not equal to the number of hits from the parent.
Any idea?

The problem is that Numbers cannot tell that G8 is in pence and G9 is in pounds.
Either:
Put G8 in pounds (0.969)
or:
Change the formula in G9 to =(G7*G8)/100. This converts pence to pounds.
Don't do both!

WCP Framework 11g and SES 11g : search results are not secured

We are integrating WCP 11.1.1.6 and SES 11.1.2.2
we have quite a stunning issue here where the search results returned by a WCP Framework application are not secured, ie secured contents are returned in the search results for unauthenticated users and for users who have no permission on these contents.
Though, the search results are well secured in the standard SES search interface (http://seshost/search/query/).
The main concern is about results coming from WCC.

we managed to integrate UCM and WCP with Document Service taskflows and it works fine, ie security is well propagated for the roles we want.
WCC/UCM and WCP authenticate users via WLS which is connected to an AD.
SES has its own identity management system which authenticates users directly to the AD.
We activated the SESCrawler component in WCC/UCM and the SES/UCM crawling process is OK.
We can search for UCM contents in SES without issue and anonymous/unauthenticated search in SES doesn't return results from non-public security groups, which is what we want.
WCP search is connected to SES (which is the default setting), eg from adf-config.xml:

So the problem is that anonymous/unauthenticated search in WCP does return results from non-public security groups, which is not what we want.
eg: access to the WCP app (don't logon)
run a search
in the search results, you can see contents which are not assigned in the public security group. Though, the WCC/UCM guest role doesn't have any permission on these SG.

Make the default search results google, not yahoo.

So usually, when i type a single word,(like the name of a website) into the url, i get taken to said website(for instance, typing "infomania" would take me too http://current.com/shows/infomania/). Or at least i would be taken to a google search result. But now, it takes me to some crappy yahoo search. Help?
