Search Results Panel

Greetings All,
Say I search a folder for pages with links to a specific CSS
file and 50 pages are returned in the Results panel—is it
possible to open all the files from within the Results panel? I've
tried selecting all the files and right-clicking "Open File", but
that only opens the first one (DW8).
It's so tedious & annoying having to click on each file
to open it, and Google isn't turning up anything useful...

Or just use Find and Replace to find the filename and replace
it with a new
one. Or just rename the file and let DW manage the
replacement.

Adobe Acrobat 8 Std: want Search on Panel

Long story why, but my coworker has 8.1.2 and I have 8.1.0, in case that explains the difference. We remember and desire being able to open up a Search as a side panel, with the binocular icon appearing on the panel, but now can only seem to get the Search up in a separate window. The reason Search on Panel is desired is to easily and quickly review all search matches. How can we get the Search icon to appear on the side panel, with which to open a Search results panel? Does that behavior differ between 8.1.0 and 8.1.2? Thanks.

The search panel does show up in a separate window. At the top of the search panel is an option to Arrange Windows. When you select that, the search pane sits right next to the PDF window, so that it appears to be. As far as I can tell there is no way to get the Search option in the new side panel of options.

Error on hover panel of people search result "We weren't able to find additional information"

In people search result while hovering over all result item, in the hover panel in the middle I can see a message "We weren't able to find additional information".
I saw a msdn post for the same question in this
MSDN Link
but there it is said that "If the person has no authored documents, then it will display this in the hover panel: We weren't able to find additional information."
But for my case the authored document is also shown.
Please find in the screen shot below marked in red:
Did I missed something?

Can you check for this issue in ULS Log file.

Search is not showing folder info in the results panel

Hello,
When I search for documents using UI search, the results panel contains following columns: Name,size,Last modifiied, description and status.
What I need is directory column also. With out this it is very difficult for users to understand where this document is residing. Is there any way I can add the directory column in the search results? And also we would be able to sort by directory.
Please help..

Visio vsdx files don't have a hover panel display in search results

Greetings,
I've noticed that Visio documents with vsdx extension don't have a document icon in the search results, nor do they have a hover panel to preview the document.
It seems like it's supposed to be there out of the box according to this article. Any thoughts?

From your reply, you wants to get the icon for Visio document, and the steps to build a hover panel to render a Visio document.
For the icon issue, the Visio documents with vsdx extension don't have a document icon in the search results, so we need to create icon for the Visio document.

WordPartCustomRefiners (Entity Extraction) - Can i display it in search result hover panel?

We use Refiners that come from Entity Extraction (In the Refinement Web Part i select: WordPartCustomRefiners2, WordPartCustomRefiner4 etc.).
In case i want to display that also in search result hover panel - is it possible?

I did install a Youtube downloader from SaveTubeVideo but un-installed it. The Search Results Optimizator must have been installed at the same time. But it does not give you an option to remove it, only to disable it.

System-installed extensions can't be uninstalled from Firefox. Instead you can find and remove this application from Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.
However, disabling an add-on renders it fully inert; it isn't loaded at all and can't do anything.

Can I use applescript to export PDF search results from "preview"?

My question is about "Preview". I have a very large PDF document that I am using preview to view. After doing a search for a specific word, preview has returned 1200 results. The results panel shows the page number the result is found on and the line of text on which the searched-for-word is found.
My question is this: Is there a way to export this information from preview to something like an excel file? The end result would look like a table with two columns. One with the page numbers and one with the line of text in which the word appears.
Is this something that can be done with applescript? I don't know if the system even stores that kind of information... /sigh. Any help is appreciated.

Error in saving search result in MDS application

I'm developing a ADF customizable web appicatoion using jdeveloper 11.1.2.0
It works fine when I deploy this application to metadata repository, but when I Save a search result in search panel it gives following error "You do not have permission to replace this search"

you are trying to change a system search, which is not allowed for customization. You can save custom searches in MDS but not override system searches
+"Query component now support the overriding the saved search functionality. When user click on the "Save..." button, "Create Saved Search" dialog comes up with name field populated with the currently selected saved search. If user enters a "System Search" name and click OK button, a error dialog stating "You do not have permission to replace this search:" is shown. If user enters an already existing saved search name then a warning dialog stating "Replace existing search:" is shown. On clicking OK existing search is replaced with the new definition. If a name that is not already present in the saved-search list is provided, a new search with the given name is created. For this a new event QueryOperationEvent.Operation.OVERRIDE is added.+
+Query component now allows the deletion of saved-search which is currently active search in the query-panel. When user deletes currently active saved-search, we set the first search from system-search list as the currently active search, and refresh the query-panel when "Personalized Saved Search" dialog is closed. How to populate new record on data entry form based on search results?

I'm new to jdeveloper im using version 11.1.2.1.0.
Usually Im using forms 10g.
I created search panel with table and its working but problem is how to transfer/populate all the field value according to that search result to New data Entry Form
by clicking the table record or a button.
Given :
TABLES,EO
1. PatientMasterIndex
2. PatientTransactionMaster <<---- master
3. PatientTransactionDetail <<-- detail relation
Here the scenario,
After Search of any patient, when i clicked one or more patient (which Jdeveloper allow multi select on jtable) on the table record it should automatically transfer or copied to the text field, i want to show on the form of PatientTransactionMaster like PatientNumber,PatientInsuranceNumber etc. to be save on db as new record, also non database field for view only like patient Name,address,age.
IN forms i can do that by :PatientTransactionMaster.PatientNumber := :blocksearch.PatientSearchNumber ,etc.....
or an item trigger to populate the said PatientTransactionMaster block. ( select .... into :PatientTransactionMaster.PatientNumber,etc....)
Any suggestion,links,sample is highly appreciated.

Do you want to create a detail record that will include some values from your master record??
Or do you want to create a record with values from your Search criteria, only in the case you do not have any results?
if it is the second case.
When do you want to do that? After a press of button? or immediately?
In general you have to handle the values from search criteria.
Additionally, if you use ViewCriteria, you have to have bind variables for your search criteria that you will want to use.
So in general, you have to know the values by using bind variables, understand that the query has no results (This can be done in many ways, depending on your implementation. if you are using a button, you could make a disable condition with iterator.estimatedRowCount property.)
Perform the insert operation with the values from the bind variables.

Search hover panel not showing up in Internet Explorer with custom master page

The hover panel is not showing up in internet explorer. I am using a custom master page and it works no problem in the other browsers. When I fire up the debugger there is an error message when i hover over a search result item:
I tried debugging the JavaScript but i am not sure what is going on with it.
Am I missing reference or something done like that? It has to be something simple because I have been scratching my head for a while on this.
Any ideas?

Have you tried rendering the site in IE Compatability Mode? Compatability Mode solves a lot of problems in this area because older versions of IE had a unique interpretation of HTML code.

Search results are not accurate

hi,
am facing a unique issue in SP 2013. Whenever we search for a search criteria the results returned is not accurate always. Every time we navigate across pages, the search results change which is not
a desired behavior. However we also noticed that the refiner panel does not change as well and it retains the old count which leads to inconsistent results when user selects a criteria from the refiner.
any pointers / helpful links regarding this issue, if any anyone has surfaced, is highly appreciated!

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that search results are not accurate.
I recommend to run a full crawl and then to check whether the search results are correct.
If your incremental crawl is running, it may happen that, when you are viewing the data in the search result web part, the newly added content are not crawled yet.
So, after the content are updated, wait for some time.
Let your incremental crawl finish. Then view the results on the page.

Document Set name as refiner in Search results?

I'm wondering if there is a way to use the document set name as a refiner in a search results page so a user can search a specific site or document library and choose the document set name to narrow the results? Initially I thought I could create a
shared column on the document set (in the properties of the document set type itself) which looked up or calculated the document set name and then this would be shared with the documents within the set. I couldn't find a way to get the name of the set.
What would be the best way (if any), of getting the search results or document properties themselves (if I created a column which contained the document set name for e.g.) to show the document set (if populated) that the document belongs to?

Document Set A
     Document A1
     Document A2
Document Set B
     Document B1
How can I get search results to show a refiner on Document A1 and A2 indicating they're in the same Document Set A? I realise I need crawled/managed property but how best should I set this up?
If this is not possible can anyone suggest an alternative please?

Hi,
I am afraid that there is no existing managed properties on the document which we can count on to know which document sets the document belongs to. Just like what you said "created a column which contained the document set name", this could
be a workaround to achieve what you want.
To do that:
1. Add a new site column named DocumentSetName and add it to
DocumentSet Content Type. And give value "DocumentSet_A" for document set A and "DocumentSet_B" for document set B.
2. In the Document Set settings, enable the newly added column as
Shared Columns. It means that all documents added to this document set will share the column and its value.
3. Reindex this document library.
4. In the Search Results refiner, add the automatically created Managed Property
as Refiner.
With this method, you can filter the documents with the name of document sets when searching office documents in search center. The only information you need input manually is Value of the site column.

Just double click on results in your Results Panel.
DW will open the page to that line of code.

Firefox downloads files automatically when opening a opening a search result. What setting do I need to change to have the search result file (pdf. or whatever) open instead? Something changed yesterday and I lost the ability to open the files vs. download.

Normally, when I use my online account, when i select a document to open with excel or with adobe, the applicaiton installed on the PC, is used to open the files.
Can you check the under control panel, default programs, and see what program is associated to the PDF files?
When you try to open one of those pdf files from your back, what happens?
If you download them to the HDD, are they automatically associated to ADOBE?
