Search return limit

Before we added 500 users yesterday, we could use the search tool in the "User" portlet to return the list of all users. Now it throws this error:
Error: Number of results exceeded the search return limit. Please narrow the search criteria and try again.
Can whatever this default setting for the number of results be changed? And if so, how?
Mike

"orclSizeLimit" is the attribute to specify the search limit which limits the number of entries to be retrieved by a query. Modifying this attribute might help you. This is what you are looking for?

  • Search size limit

    Hi all,
    Any one knows how to increase the search size limit in creating a referral policy for a sun-organization, the filter for searching the value field seems returning an error. I could try to type in the value and locate the actual sub-org for inputing to the value filed, but could not verify what it contains.
    I've tried to increase the number of MRRFS in the policy configuration is of no use.
    BTW, we've around 300 sub-organizations in our test setup.
    Any hints?

    My Server Setup :
    SharePoint Foundation 2010

    We have created two web application and configured the search service as above mention link.
    And we have migrated a site from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010 to one of  web application,we assigned search database to the newly migrated content database.
    Previously there was Form based Authentication was done on Moss 2007 site and on SP 2010 we are working on Windows authentication.
    Database showing crawl is working and showing success results as well in SQL table, Its only Not able to show the results on the page.
    Thanks in Advance

    Regards, Dinesh Reddy.

    Don't look at the databases, it's a bad habit to get into and will lead to confusion.
    In search administration are you getting any sucsess messages in the crawl history and is the number of items in your index non-zero?
    If so that implies that the crawl process is working and it's the user security that's the issue.
    To confirm try searching for a file whilst logged in as the crawl account, that should return results.

  • OID-Query Entry Return Limit not functioning for OIM

    Hi,
    I have connected Thor Xellerate (Oracle Identity Manager is the new name) to OID 9i and reconciled users from OID. The Query Entry Return Limit set on OID by default is 1000 and I have 1100 hundred users in OID.
    I am able to get all users (means all 1100 users are reconciled) without any problem. I would like to know the significance of this Query Entry Return Limit in this context and whether my understanding is correct or not. Can anybody help me in this regard?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Krishna

    Krishna,
    it's interesting that despite the fact that the OID entry return size limit is set to 1000 the reconcile can retrieve 1100 entries. The default behaviour should be that you should see an error msg stating "size limit exceeded". Anyway set the size limit in OID to a higher value just to be on the save side.

  • Podcast returns "Your search returned no results" but that wasn't the case yesterday

    Hello Everyone:
    I've been a loyal listener to the 66/40 podcast. It's gone thru some name changes (now it's "66/40 on Oneplace.com") and when I did a search in AppleTV yesterday & today, I got a "Your search returned no results", even though it displays when I search for "66". For weeks now, I've been able to access it. I can access it via the iTunes Store, but no longer on AppleTV. Anyone know why? Any help would be greatly appreeshed.
    Thanks.

    Same thing happening to me, multiple podcasts, video and audio.

  • Podcasts "Your search returned no results"

    When doing a search under Podcasts in Apple TV (2nd gen), a list show up on the right hand side, but when I click on ANY podcast name, it says "Your search returned no results"
    As the producer of one of the podcasts in question, I'm not sure why this is happening. They all show up on my Apple TV 1st Gen, as well as iTunes on my Mac, mobile devices, etc. but NO podcasts that I search for can be accessed in 2nd Gen.
    Thanks

  • Search returned no results

    Hi Experts,
    I had configured backend BW 3.5 connection in the EHP1 for CE 7.1. When I opened VC, I can find the BW system name I configured. I am using dedicated application server configuration. However, when I try to search for query or infoset, it showed "search returned no results". The connection test in system landscape was sucessful. What may be the root cause? Do I need to install any support package in BW 3.5 in order to be searched by VC?

  • Itunes library search returns a blank

    Itunes library search returns a blank but when I locate the same song on youtube and click Buy song on itunes, I am able to access it.
    Thank you
    The Rees Clan

    I now know what is causing the problem, at least for the singer in question, but I don't know how to overcome it. I now know that the problem started when I downloaded an MP3 album from Amazon. This album contains 25 songs sung by 25 singers, INCLUDING Annette Hanshaw,THE SINGER I'M INTERESTED IN AT THE MOMENT. So, when I do an iTunes' search for Annette Hanshaw, I get her, but I also get all the other singers on this album. This puzzles me. I've downloaded many entire albums, but I've never run into the unwanted linkages before. In other words, I want to keep all of the songs in the album I just downloded, but I only want Annette Hanshaw when I put her name in the SEARCH bar. Is there a way to do this?
    Are all the songs in all Amazon MP3 albums linked together in this way?

    Hi,
    Two possible reasons:
    1. The size of the search results returned would have been controlled by the directory services administrator (Cross- check with the dir. services administrative options.
    2. Have you set the size limit programatically... using SearchControls.setSizeLimit(...) you should be using
    SearchControls.setSizeLimit(0) which returns all the results.
    Hope this hleps,

  • ADS search returns only 1000 nodes...

    Executing a search against the root node of ADS returns only 1000 objects despite the fact that that we have done searchControls.setCountLimit(0). We are using a non-anonymous connection which, in fact, is using an non-administrator's DN and password to login. When we use a non-anonymous connection which uses an administrator's DN and password, we get 2000 entries returned--so we have confidence that some setting inside ADS is the problem.
    Anyone know exactly what we need to tweak within ADS to allow us to get back a truly unlimited number of "hits" when searching?

  • Text search returns results with some keywords, but not others

    This pertains to a tours website for Turkey. I've sucessfully
    set up a search form, and results page which returns results when
    multiple keywords are entered. Everything is working well, except
    when certain keywords are used. For example, the table column being
    searched for is called long_itinerary, so if anyone is interested
    in a certain site or city, it's bound to be in the long itinerary
    somewhere.
    Here's the problem, by example: When someone searches with
    the keywords Antalya, Konya, Ankara, or Adana, for example, results
    are returned from the database, and those keywords are in each
    returned tour's long itinerary.
    But certain keywords return nothing, even when they're in
    practically all of the tours, in the long_itinerary column. For
    example, Istanbul, Ephesus, and Izmir, Kusadasi and Pergamum return
    no results, even though they're there. I've gone through all of the
    most likely keywords, and these are the offenders. If, for example,
    I search with "Istanbul Ankara," I get results with tours including
    Ankara (and Istanbul, but only because the word "Ankara" is in the
    itinerary).
    First I made sure the Charset values were the same on the
    search form page and the results page. Still had the problem. Next,
    I went into the database itself, and copied the word "Istanbul"
    directly from the long_itinerary column of the database, and pasted
    it into the search function's text field, and searched again. Same
    problem--no results returned.
    I can't see any difference between the keywords which work
    correctly, and those which don't, what baffles me is that even when
    I copy a keyword directly from the database and paste it in the
    search text field, it returns no results!
    Well, I'm baffled! Any ideas what might cause this?

    Hmm -- one of my customers is a turkish building company
    (Kusadasi BTW), and when *they* add some contents to the DB,
    they´ll be entering turkish chars. It´s in particular the
    turkish "I" which is pretty different, and this is when a search
    for keywords containing a western "I" will fail.
    Could that be the problem in your case ?

  • Exchange 2010 webmail - contact search returns an error when single letter is used

    Exchange 2010 SP2 environment. In Webmail when a user creates a new message, pressing on the To: button to add recipients, if they search the GAL, a single letter search (A for example) returns all names starting with A.
    If they try to perform the same search for their contacts they get: No results found in IE or the error below in Firefox and Chrome. If I search contacts with two letters "Ab" for example then no error occurs and I get results. So search doesn't work
    the same way for contacs vs GAL. Is this normal for webmail 2010?

    I doesn't happen on mine, but I'm now on SP3. It might help if you upgrade - even if you don't want to go to SP3 yet, your OWA version appears not to be at rollup 2 level. I only mention this because if it is a problem specific to version 14.2.247.5 (which
    could easily be the case, because MS change the OWA scripts with surprising frequency) , it's going to be hard finding people who can reproduce the problem.
    But to answer the question in the last sentence, searching the GAL and searching Contacts is, in a technical sense, very different. The GAL search is done with an LDAP query against Active Directory, whereas Contacts are usually going to be mailbox items,
    plus a few AD contact items.

  • Document Search returned only single doc. WLP7

    Dear all,
    I am facing a problem when I am using document management with WLP 7.0.
    We created three documents as following:
    doc1
    doc1.md.properties
    doc2
    doc2.md.properties
    doc3
    doc3.md.properties
    For each doc metadata we have
    DROP_DOWN_LIST_NAME="dropdown1"
    VALUE=SOMEVALUE(different for each doc)
    When we were trying to use the following code for search, we are
    expecting to retrive the above three documents, but in fact,
    we got only the first one returned. What's wrong with our implementation?

    System.out.println("Search Result: " + document.getPropertyAsString(document.RESERVED_PROPERTY_SET,
    "VALUE"));
    Any help would be great appriciated.

    Harry -
    You might be encountering the content caching that occurs internally. If
    you added doc1, ran loaddocs, ran the query, got back doc1, then added
    docs2 and 3, ran loaddocs, ran the query, you would probably still get
    back only doc1 for awhile, untill the cache timed out. Try turing off
    metadata cache on the default DocumentManager via the WLP console
    extensions (see e-docs). Or, you can try doing a
    search.setContextParam("p13n.noCache", "true") in your code to turn it
    off for that one search.
    Otherwise, check the database tables (DOCUMENT and DOCUMENT_METADATA) to
    make sure that the data is getting loaded correctly.

    I am facing a problem when I am using document management with WLP 7.0.
    We created three documents as following:
    doc1
    doc1.md.properties
    doc2
    doc2.md.properties
    doc3
    doc3.md.properties
    For each doc metadata we have
    DROP_DOWN_LIST_NAME="dropdown1"
    VALUE=SOMEVALUE(different for each doc)
    When we were trying to use the following code for search, we are
    expecting to retrive the above three documents, but in fact,
    we got only the first one returned. What's wrong with our implementation?
    DocumentManagerHome documentManagerHome = (DocumentManagerHome)jndiContext.lookup(
    "java:comp/env/ejb/DocumentManager" );
    DocumentManager documentManager = documentManagerHome.create();
    String searchString = "DROP_DOWN_LIST_NAME == 'dropdown1'";
    Expression searchExpression = ExpressionHelper.parse( searchString );
    Search search = new Search( null, -1, "", searchExpression );
    Enumeration searchResults = documentManager.getContent( search);
    if( searchResults.hasMoreElements() ) {
    Document document = (Document) searchResults.nextElement();
    System.out.println("Search Result: " + document.getPropertyAsString(document.RESERVED_PROPERTY_SET,
    "VALUE"));
    Any help would be great appriciated.
