Search Scope: Search Service is currently offline or indexer move in in progress

I am not sure what had happen, but when ever I go into the Search Service App > Scope > People it gives me the error:
"The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move
is in progress."
When I go to Manage Services on Server "SharePoint Server Search" is started. Also I been running Incremental crawls all day.
When ever I go to people within the search scope menu item in the Quick Launch it throws that error.
Here is the error in the log:
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress.

I do NOT have a Web Application http://SERVER:32843
I have created a new search, from the default that is created to try to fix this.  I have restarted the server and updated to April 2013 CU, but still having this issue.  Logged on as a Farm Administrator.
Don't know how to try to change from 'http://tempuri.org/ and it shows that, online, that is a MSDN test item.
This is from COrrelation ID when I ran this in Site Actions, Site Settings, Scope, logged on as Farm Administrator in IE 9 on a Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise Edition system.  SharePoint 2010 SP1 Enterprise Edition CU April 2013

    Please try below mentioned steps:
    1. Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service Timer Job" > Disable
    2. Then open windows administrative services (services.msc), stop SharePoint Timer Service
    3. Clear SharePoint Timer configuration cache by following steps mentioned in below blog:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jamesway/archive/2011/05/23/sharepoint-2010-clearing-the-configuration-cache.aspx
    4. Start SharePoint Timer Service and give it a few seconds so that the new XML files from the location you deleted then are re-populated.
5.Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service" Timer Job > Enable

  • Finder Search -- complex search in a particular folder

    This is embarrassing!
    I want to use Finder
         File-->Find
to do complex searches (e.g. using "Kind", "Created Date", "Contents", etc.) on a specific folder.  I want to use the Finder "Find" GUI, not the Spotlight "command line".
I think I need to discover how to add additional places, folders,  to the search location header of the Finder Search window, which now contains (by default?)
         Search:   This Mac    "My HD"
In other words, if my target folder is called "Fum"  I think I need to see
Search:   This Mac    "My HD"   "Fum"
Then I need to select the right-most item to tell the Finder Search "just search the folder named 'Fum'".  After that, I enter the search parameters.
But I cannot figure out how to do this.    I tried drag-and-dropping folder "Fum" on this line.  I tried Command-F with "Fum" selected. I tried enabling the left tool-bar, getting "Fum" in the list, then  highlighting "Fum".
D'oh!   It's such a stupid question that ... the obvious web searches are useless.
    So... how  is this done?
I feel like I'm totally missing some basic assumpation of the current 10.7 Finder search metaphor.  Please feel free to fill me in.   (Why isn't there a "+" button at the far right of the Search locations header, instead of what I see now, only a "Save" and a "-" button?  That would seem the logical way to add locations to search.)
    TIA

    Whew, sorry...
[A tedious description of various experiments, failing attempts to sort this problem omitted here.]
I note that Finder Preferences ---> Advanced offers 3 choices for searches, schematically:
         When performing a search:
          (1) Search This Mac
          (2) Search the Current Folder
          (3) Use the Previous Search Scope
[Another tedious description of more experiments omitted here.]
Just a moment... Selecting alternative (3) does the trick for me!   I can now restrict the search directory to "Fum".  I just need to:
    a)  Choose Finder search preference (3), which to my mind implements "Search the Current Folder" and NOT "Use the Previous Search Scope".
    b) Interpret "Current Folder" as the folder open and at front.
Life is now good!   <heavy sigh>

  • How to limit the search scope in single site collection for SP2013?

On our SP2013 farm, there is one web application and 4 site collections under it. At the beginning I was trying to setup 4 different "Content Sources" but Sharepoint warn me that I can only setup 1 source per web application.
I don't want user search at site collection A get search result from B, C and D. Also I like to use continuous crawling. What is the best practice to achieve? Thanks.

i iPad 3 fails to recognize cellular data In a number of locations Displays "searching and No Service" I have narrowed this to device problem. What can I do?

    Hello there, OSOSANYA.
The following Knowledge Base article provides a great checklist of steps and additional recommendations for troubleshooting issues with cellular connection:
iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3780
Follow these steps for help troubleshooting cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, please test to see if the issue is resolved.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Make sure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update: Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update: Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still doesn't, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
    Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Search scopes taking long time to load SharePoint 2010

    Hi!
It takes very long time (more than 5-10 mins) for the Search Scopes page to load. This is very annoying and proves to be very much NON-productive while working on search related tasks.
Please help if you came across any such issue.
    Thanks,
    Owens G. Jesse

    Hi Owens ,
According to your description, my understanding is that only your Search Scopes page loads very slowly.
For your issue , you can enable Developer Dashboard for SharePoint 2010 with PowerShell first.
With Developer Dashboard, you can find out where the Search Scopes page loading  time was spent at server side.
    Reference:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/patrick_heyde/archive/2009/11/16/sharepoint-2010-enable-using-developer-dashboard.aspx
Please inform me freely if you have any questions.

    Hi,
after i removed the suggested Folder, i disabled both "Microsoft Exchange Search service and Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller service, than i restarted the Exchange Server.
After that i restarted both services.
Sadly nothing has changed, hostcontroller.exe is still crashing:

    Hello,
If you see error descriptioon it gives access denied so basically it is because of some access issue.I guess You must be using some domin account for installation make sure it is  added as local administrator also instead of using NT Authority network
service  as SQL server service account use local system account .
    Below link would help
    http://serverfault.com/questions/212135/access-is-denied-error-installing-sql-server-2008-on-windows-7
You can also browse to setup.exe file and RK on it and select run as administrator

  • How to show only Indexes in Search Scope

    Hi All,
Is it possbile to allow users to choose only Indexed in search scope.
I tried editing the Search Options set, there i found that I can enable and disable search scope, but whn search scope is enabled both the Indexes and folders are visible.
I want to show only Indexes to the user. How can I hide the folder options alone in the search scope?
    Thanks and Regards
    George

Instead of using the Search Options set in the KM Search iView, use the Search Component Set.
Create your own Search Component Set by going to <b>System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge management > Content Management > User Interface > Search > Search Components</b>
While creating the Search Component Set, Specify <b>Component for Search Options</b> as <u>search_input_indexes</u>.
    This should help you.
Or you could do the following.
In the Search Options set, Do the following.
    1) Uncheck <b>Enable Search Scope Selection</b>.
    2) Provide the various index names in <b>Search Index IDs (csv)</b>
The above option would by default search the selected indexes for the search term and would not provide the user with the functionality of searching in folders.

  • In service order Search page,In Service Order Search criteria, In Status value drop down i have to show only user status?

    Hi Team,
My requirement is In service order Search page,In Service Order Search criteria, In Status value drop down i have to show only user status values only? how to do it..now in my status drop down values system status values also displayed ,i want only user status values only i have to show...how to do it?
    Thanks
    Kalpana

    Hi Kalpana
As Standard there are 2 separate search fields for Status.
    One for User Status
    One for System Status
Are you sure that the other Status value you require are not for other Service Transactions different to the one you are wanting to search on?
If you need to make a only the User Status for  a given selected Transaction Type, then you would need to make an enhancement to that Component

  • Restrict search access of Service requests based on service team

    Hi,
We have the below requirement in our client to restrict the search of the service requests based on the service team.
    Requirement
A user can only search / display the service requests which are assigned to his queue.(Partner Function --> Service team)
Can you please suggest if we have a standard authorization object by means of which we can achieve this.
Can you please help us on priority on this. Reward points would be awarded for helpful answers
    Thanks,
    Vamsi.

    Hello Vamsi
I redefined the  method  EH_ONSEARCH_BTN of component  BT116S_SRVO/ADVANCEDSP. Because i used this in service order.  you can same method of  Service request component.
Use can call method insert_selection_param of class cl_crm_bol_dquery_service
to set the SERVICE_ORG parameter with value of Employee's service org.
    Regards

  • Edit "Search with Google" service to open in a new safari page

I frequently use the search with google service in OSX.
This appears in the contextual menu as "Search in google" and in the services menu as "Search with google".
When I am in Safari and I want to search some word or phrase in google, I am redirected to the google page in the same page I m at. So if I want to search several words in google, I have to do it one by one.
I want to be able to edit this function so the word I am looking is searched in a separate tab or browser window.
I cant find the workflow in the Services folder so I can edit it. Anyone have an idea?
    Thank you

this is a built in service not made with automator. You can not edit it. you can try making your own service for this task using automator although I don't quite see how to make one that will do what you want.

  • Site Collection level Search Scopes after Upgraded to 2013

In SharePoint 2010 we have  good amount of site collection level search scopes and it has been heavily used in search scope down.
Please correct me if any of my below statement is wrong
1.After migration these scopes cannot be used and it will not appear in search drop down.
2.Only opition I have is to create Result Source and Configure search navigation at Site Level?
3.For Result Sources to appear in drop down I need to have individual search page for every custom result source.
I would really appreciate your inputs
    Thank you
    Vijay

    1. Usually 2010 Search Scopes can be used after migrating to 2013.  What you can't do is edit them or create new ones.  However, I've had mixed luck with them.  About 75% seem to work, with the rest being broken beyond repair.
    2. If the migrated scope doesn't continue to work your only real option is a REsult Source.  To add them to the dropdown you will need to configure the navigation at the Site level.
    3. Result sources can re-use result pages used by other Result sources.  You need a Result source for each entry, but that result source may point to the same page as another result source.

  • Custom Search Scopes in SP2010

    Hi,
I have created a shared search scope in the Central Administration. I am adding this scope to the Search Drop Down display group of my team site. I want the name of this search scope to be localized based on the user's preferred display
language. How can I achieve this programmatically ?
Out of box shared scopes like 'People' do get translated based on the user's preferred display language.

    Hi,
In SharePoint 2013, Search Scopes has been replaced by the Result Sources. For your requirement, here is a workaround for your reference:
