Search songs using non-english alphabet
Hello all,
is there a way to search for songs in non-english languages using my iPod nano?
I use greek for titles, artists etc and I'd like to be able to search using greek!
Thank you in advance
After first getting your nano did you select the language to be greek. If not set your nano back to factory settings.... saving your music beforehand on itunes. And this will get the nano back to a language us can use for viewing stuff on the nano.
Here are the languages that the nano supports;
Languages
Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish
Additional language support for display of song, album, and artist information: Bulgarian, Croatian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, and Ukrainian
Greek is mentioned but it is not listed for support in the display of song, album, and artist information. Though you probably went into each field and translated into greek the best you could right?
Lol Id like to see what the band name " A Flock of Seagulls" is translated
I would try setting the main language of the nano to greek and see if you can search using the native language that way. If not then I think your out of luck.

Hi all,
I want to use non English characters (Greek characters) for folders of the URLs.
eg http://www.mysite.com/Φάκελος/index.cfm
where "Φάκελος" is a non English word (Greek).
When the called page is simple HTML eg www.mysite.com/Φάκελος/index.HTM
it's displayed just fine.
When the called page is CF page eg www.mysite.com/Φάκελος/index.CFM
I get a "FILE NOT FOUND" error.
In the page where the link exists everything is UTF-8.
What's the problem ? Can't CF use non English characters in URLs ????
It's critical for SEO issues.
I use CF9. Any ideas ???
Thanks in advance.
AnastassiosI don't have this setting in the email application. But as I know, html with Exchange is working only with the 2007 version, my server is still 2003 so I think in my case it's plain text only.
But I'm telling again: good old (and now starting to miss) E60 with MfE worked very well! -
How to move between applications in Mission Control using non-english keyboard?
I have recently started using MC and really like it. I prefer doing as much navigation as possible from the keyboard.
I can do most of the things I want to with MC but I have not been able to find out how to switch between open applcations on the selected Desktop while in MC.
I have tried searching for a solution online without success. To begin with it would be great if it is at all possible but preferably, it would be something that could be configured by me in System Preferences/Keyboard.
I would think that other people would want to do somehting similar so hopefully there is a solution.
Thanks in advance,
ThorHold down the cmd (⌘) key and briefly press the tab key (⇥) then use the left/right arrow keys to select the application you wish to switch to. When done release the cmd key.

Word of the Day Screensaver -- using non-English dictionaries
As I'm studying German, I'd like to use an alternate dictionary with the "Word of the Day" screensaver. I've already installed the German dictionary, but it doesn't show up as an option.
Is there a way to do this?
As a side note, I'm disappointed with Apple in making it so hard to install custom dictionaries. OS X installs dozens of languages by default (which I don't want or need) but only the English and Chinese dictionaries.
Wouldn't it make sense to choose what languages one uses during installation and have everything for those languages installed automatically?I'm disappointed with Apple

Some questions about using non-english characters and keyboard layouts
I've found a lot of guides about how to enable characters in Linux, and that is easy enough, but I want to understand it better.
The way that I understand it, if you don't enable a given set of characters in locale.gen, then in theory you should not be able to either use or display a that set of characters in any programs (however, certain programs, like web-browsers seem to have work arounds).
Furthermore, in order to be able to type characters in X programs, you need to enable those keyboard setups in your xorg.conf (in addition to enabling those locales in locale.gen). I don't think that this effects the displaying of characters
Then, Last, you need a way to switch back and forth between different keyboard layouts within your X environment in order to type those characters. There are programs to assist in switching keyboard layouts provided by some DE's. By using these keyboard layout tools, I alter the behaviour of all programs started in X. (for example, swithing keyboard layouts in gnome's settings will alter the behaviour of kde programs, firefox and openoffice.)
How close am I?
A few more questions:
If I'm a Spanish student which locales do I need to enable. There is a long list of locales that start with ES, and I don't know if there are any drawbacks to enabling unnecessary locales. I think that the ones that I need are es_ES* (Spanish spanish?) and es_MX* (Mexican spanish?).
What is do the *@EURO locales do?
what does the locale setting in rc.conf do?I've found a lot of guides about how to enable characters in Linux, and that is easy enough, but I want to understand it better.

Any idea if any get-around?
Same for other apps too...Hi,
do you have a test case and instructions for me to try and run. Just create a simple page-to-page use case and send it in a ZIP file (renamed to ZIP) for me to test on 11.1.2.4 and file a bug if required. If you have a support contract, you can file a service request with support. My mail addres sis in my OTN profile, just click my name link.

Youtube issue - search with non-english letters
The issue appeared after the recent software update, worked correctly in the previous one.
When searching youtube with non-english letters (through iphone remote app), it assumes every letter to be an "enter" and reports a problem connecting to youtube.
Even when I try using the "recent searches", it will report the same problem for non-english items.you need to report it to apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html

Apple, when an update for none english windows users ?
Apple knows about that problem for over 10 days now but nothing yet.
I'm in Montreal and all none english windows users are unable to "unlock" their new ipod and get that USB cable and itune Icon display.
Come on Apple, are you becoming as bad as the PC and windows world.!
If you guys could post here which country and language you have problem with. Thanks.
_*Canada, QC, French*_.Looks like people using none english windows experience the same problem when they try to config for the first time their Ipod touch. You're gonna be able to connect to your computer to load songs and movies but when come the time to disconnect your device, the Ipod is gonna display (even disconnected from your computer) a screen with an USB cable and an itune icon. The result is that you're gonna be unable to turn your Ipod really on and listening the content of it.
People in Japan, germany, France, etc... had the same problem because of none english windows setup.
Good luck... My Ipod still doesn't work. -
Oracle 10g - Defining the column name in Non English
Hi Experts,
I have an exisitng application which is developed on Windows using ASP Technology and uses Oracle 10g 10.1.0.2.0.
The application is supported with an instance of Data Base within which multiple tablespaces are created for different clients. The application is developed in such a way that some of the tables arecreated dynamically and the columns are named using the data entered through the UI.
This application needs to be globalized now. The problem is, the column name entered through the UI can be in any language based on the client's settings and those values in turn will be used for naming the columns in the tables.
1) Can I have the column names to be named using non english characters in Oracle 10g DB? If so,
1.1) what should I do to configure the exisiting Oracle instance to support it?
1.2) To what level is that configuration possible, is it per DB instance level (or) can it be done at Tablespace level. I would like to configure each tablespace to host tables with columns defined with different languages, say for example, tablespace 1 will have tables with Japaenese column names and tablespace 2 will have tables with German column names?
2) What should I do to make my entire DB to support unicode data i.e., to accept any language strings. Currently all strings are declared as VarChar2, should I change all VarChar2 to NVarChar2 (or) is there a way to retain the VarChar2 as is and make some database wide setting?
Please note that I do not have an option of retaining the column in English as per the Business Requirement.
Envionment:
OS - Windows 2003 32 bit
Oracle 10g 10.1.0.2.0

Customized Skins in Non-English Projects
I have a customized skin that when used non-English projects,
it omits special characters in the buttons for Contents and Index.
I didn't create the skin so I don't have Flash. Any suggestions on
how to fix the buttons to display the missing characters? If she's no longer with the company and she was using Flash,
could it by chance be a company license for Flash that you could
take over...?
Rick referred to the LNG file, which exists in both the
source files and the output files. Do the copying and pasting with
the source versions. (The output version will be overwritten from
the source version every time.)
If Rick's suggestion doesn't work, the only other thing I can
think of would be to check the .fla files themselves in Flash. The
person who tweaked the files may have done something to the dynamic
text fields for the button labels. If you can get a copy of Flash,
you could check two things on the button label text field
(double-click the Label object twice to get to this point):
1. See if "Use device fonts" is selected in a dropdown on the
left side of the Properties panel. This selection won't let you
embed fonts. If it's selected, try #2 below instead. If it isn't,
select it, export the movie, and put it in your output files.
2. Change "Use device fonts" to "Anti-alias for animation."
Click the Embed button. Select every option with Latin in it, and
click OK. Export to a movie, and put it in your output files.
Note that you'd have to do this for each button that isn't
displaying the characters properly.
Hope this helps,
Ben -
Non-English characters in URL for rwservlet
I'm having a problem when I try to use non-english characters in a URL request to generate a report.
This works fine:
http://...rwservlet?report=r1.jsp&m1=Fred
But if I try Fréd (e with accent graph) the report does not return any data even though the SQL by itself would find data.
I tried UTF-8 encoding
http://...rwservlet?report=r1.jsp&m1=Fr%C3%A9d
8859-1 encoding
http://...rwservlet?report=r1.jsp&m1=Fr%E9d
Or just spell it out (not sure what that gets encode as):
http://...rwservlet?report=r1.jsp&m1=Fréd
But noting works. Any ideas?
Thanks, AndreasSuggestions
1) Try with NLS_LANG as
SWEDISH_SWEDEN.WE8DEC
2) Make a paramform and enter via paramform (unencoded)
(This is just for testing purpose)
3) Change machine locale to swedish and try
4) Which reports version is this ?

Non english characters in bi problem
dear all,
i have problem with non English chars in bw. in r3 side my client uses non English chars which is allowed, however when i get data to bw side it gives error when i see psa , i see records which has # in it, leads to error.
example : wbs element.
any help for that? i have checked customizing in spro about non English chars.
thanks in advance.Hi,
Try RSKC --> type ALL_CAPITAL --> F8 (Execute)
OR
Go to SE38 and execute the program RSKC_ALLOWED_CHAR_MAINTAIN and give ALL_CAPITAL or the char you want to add.
Check the table RSALLOWEDCHAR. It should contain ALL_CAPITAL or the char you have entered.
As a long term you can apply some user exit in source system side or change your update rules to ensure that this field is getting blanked out before getting loaded in cube or add that particular char to permitted character list in BW.

Use a different alphabet for a bulleted list
Hi!
I'm working on a bilingual user manual, Italian - Russian.
I need to use a different alphabet for the bullet list in every language.
By default indesing use the english alphabet "A B C D E F G H I J K.." and I need to change in "A B C D E F G H I L M N..."
Can anyone help me?
Thank you!I use the World Tools plugin for InDesign from in-tools.com to change my "numbered" lettered lists in translation from Latin script to Arabic script, Korean numbering (either Chosung or Ganada, thanks Harbs I've used both! ), even circle numbering. Many different kinds of numbering/lettering are available to World Tools users. However, World Tools for CS4 doesn't offer every alphabet or abjad or syallabary for lettered lists, only some complex-script ones. I dunno about World Tools for CS5, but I've found in-tools to be really responsive to feature requests.
That being said, it might make more sense to do this without automatic bulleting & numbering. I'd rather set up my own hanging indents and key in each Cyrillic letter myself - iff I knew that the number of entries in the list was not going to change.
