Search tips for this forum

How do I search for "Account accountProxy" in this forum and have only messages returned with this exact phrase.
Currently, doing a search on "Account accountProxy" returns records with these two words not next to each other.

  • Firefox search plugin for this forum

    Hey!
I made a Firefox search plugin for this forum:
    http://cip.uni-trier.de/zaplatynski/moz-search/
I am just too lazy for the two clicks to get the search form!
Note: The installation instructions apply just for the Uni Trier search plugins... I need there a redirection page.
I hope it will be usefull for everyone. I plan to make one for the AUR too.
    So long,
    Marian
P.S. If I get some time, I will make a nicer icon...

    Finally, I made it available:
    http://cip.uni-trier.de/zaplatynski/moz … linux.html
Reviewed all search plugins by others and adapted them if needed.
Please post any comments bugs. I will do some plugins for google in the next time.
    Greetings,
    Marian

  • Can't find search function for this forum?

Am I blind or something, or is this site working as well as soundtrack pro? Where is the search bar?

    I agree!
I've just joined this forum to look for specific answers, and searching is the first and +most necessary+ thing I want to do...
How is not having this feature improving the performance of the forum? Is the hope that Apple will put vast numbers of users off by being annoyingly non-functional and nonsensical?!!

  • Search Default for this Forum?

Is there anyway to set a default to make searches of this forum more quickly accessed?
Seems moronic to have to continually specify the forum when this is the only one I ever use?
    Dan Pride

Yes, I can confirm that behaviour, the search of the forum is useless.

  • What are rules of etiquette for this forum?

I have posted a few basic questions in recent times about java programming issues. Right now I am using JBuilder2005. I am relatively new to the Java progarmming community, and I don't know if JB2005 is considered evil over say, WebSphere, Eclipse, etc. But responses I have received for my basic questions (which I ended up finding my own answers to) have been less than friendly.
    Case:

Re: assing which servlet is the startup page? Author: IanSchneider Mar 11, 2005 3:54 PM (reply 1 of 1)
You gots to be crazy if you think I'm helping you with your assing. Whats JB2005 anyway? Whatever it is, it sounds like its an impediment to you knowing whats going on. Try looking in your web.xml and actually understanding how servlets work.
    <<
I have received responses similar to this for other posts where people are conscientiously steering me in the wrong direction. Well, I am not posting to ruffle any feathers, but since I have not seen any specific rules on what to post/not post other than no disruptive stuff, my question is if this forum is like a Pay forum and/or an anti Borland forum (vs a forum for exchanging information on Java programming).
While I'm at it I am trying to use a DataExpress control from JB2005 to connect to an Access Database (for practice - we have Oracle but I am practicing on Access). I select the driver
    sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
then it asks for the URL, it gives me this option in the ...:
    jdbc:odbc:MS Access Database
so where do I add the location of the mdb file? I can't get the control to connect. I can connect to Access if I just use code and read/insert rows of data, but I want to use a DataExpress TableDataSet control so I can load it up with rows of data from a database file in a client application. I can load up an html table of data in a servlet for display . But how can I display data the same way in a client app?
Is this forum even the correct forum for me to ask this question - or should I look for a Borland forum?
    Thanks.

  • Search feature of this forum

Anybody else notice how extremely bad the search "feature" of
this forum is? I type in one or two word phrases (such as
cfdocument align) and it almost always returns zero results
(probably 95% of the time, the other 5% are usually nothing helpful
or remotely related either). So either nobody has ever typed the
word cfdocument or align in this forum, or the search feature just
    plain sucks.
    Just had to vent....

Below is info from the Help/Search section that may make your
searching more productive. I get plenty of hits using
    cfdocument or align
    but nothing on
    cfdocument and align.
    Hope this helps!
    From the Help/Search link:
    Search Tips
The Search feature of the Adobe Forums is slightly different
from some 'natural language' search engines such as Google. You can
use Boolean logic (and, or and parentheses to group sections of
your query), which will search all keywords.
Search Example: Dog or Cat not (Bird and Cow)
These keywords will try to find messages with the word Dog or
Cat, but don’t contain both the words Bird and Cow. Note- if
the keywords you're searching on include either the word 'and' or
the word 'or', you may want to remove those words from the search
term so your search is not unnecessarily restricted.

  • Is there a FAQ document for this forum?

Does anyone know if a FAQ document for this forum exists anywhere? if yes, can someone put a link to it in a visible place? if not, let's create one because same questions are being asked over and over again...
    gojko adzic
    http://gojko.net

No there is not. And I left the word "unfortunately" out as a FAQ will make absolutely no difference to the posting habits of many newcomers around here.
They will ignore it as they are ignoring the Oracle documentation, ignoring the search facility of these forums, and ignoring the ability of Google to find answers. Never mind ignoring netiquette and claiming that their problems are so critically urgent that we have no choice but to stop doing the work we get paid for immediately, and jump to it, assisting them for free.
The only thing that makes an impact in this regard is the old lead pipe. That needs to be swung hard at such times to clearly point out what is not acceptable.
