Searchindexer.exe and explorer.exe errors

A few days ago I uninstalled Norton with Revo Uninstaller and installed malwarebytes pro. I restarted my computer only to find that approximately every 3 seconds, explorer.exe crashed and restarted. This went on for about 3 days. The event viewer showed
the "The Windows Search service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 7864 time(s)" message that I've seen in other threads.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/38a0ac31-501d-4b84-9b75-5d64fd684e10/workaround-windows-search-service-terminated-unexpectedly-faulting-application-searchindexerexe?forum=w7itprogeneral
Here's what I've done so far.
ran malwarebytes full system scan - found a few problems but after fixing them the main issues persisted.
ran sfc/ scannow (7-8 times... found issues at first but now returns the message "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.")
Set 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\SetupCompletedSuccessfully' from 1 to 0
left computer on overnight (windows explorer still crashing every few seconds)
hard reset by removing the battery. Now windows explorer won't load at all. (no desktop, no modern UI or Taskbar)
attempted to rebuild the index, which didn't work.
Here's the what the event viewer shows

I can't run Microsoft's fix it because explorer.exe won't load, so trying to save any installer results in Firefox crashing.
Not really sure what do do at this point.
Edit: did a system restore. returned with an error saying system restore error failed while deleting c:\$MFT\

  • Windows 8.1 issue explorer.exe error on shutdown NOT resolved and painfully slow bootup

    Hi,
I have a brand new HP Pavilion Laptop with Windows 8 64bit. I just downloaded the free update to 8.1. And then problems started.
First off, the boot up time has almost doubled. Just before the desktop becomes visible, there is a 10 second period where all you see is a black screen. At times this is more than 10 seconds. Then the desktop wallpaper can be seen.
Secondly, the most annoying problem-, everytime I shutdown or restart , I get an explorer.exe error saying memory cant be read some instruction referenced memory at 0x00000000. ?! What the h-- is this ? I mean is this what we expect to see after updating to
Windows 8.1 ? This is ridiculous. There is no offical response from the developers either. This is affecting many people all over the world and there is not even any official patch or announcement ?
I have read similar posts here and none of the solutions work. Someone says edit the registry, someone says remove the bluetooth service from startup ?! nothing and stopping a bluetooth service should not be considered a solution. Why should I not be able
to use bluetooth just to resolve this Windows 8.1 error ??
Please fix this problem urgently. And DO NOT ask us to re-install windows... I mean come on.. You think people have nothing better to do than installing/reinstalling Windows throughout the day ?? Bandwidth does not come cheap everywhere in the world either.
Please release a patch or some guidelines on fixing this problem ASAP.

Hi, I have checked with that link on HP's site and for my product number it said that my laptop has been tested-Update your System from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
HP has tested your Windows 8 PC with Windows 8.1 and has created update instructions.
This is what they say. And I clicked on the Windows Store Icon >> Then I clicked on the Upgrade to Windows 8.1 Tile >> Then I clicked Download Windows 8.1 Update ( over 3 GB ) waited for a couple of days >> Then clicked next a bunch of
times >> Selected some options that it asked me >> Then waited some more >> some more waiting >> and in 2 weeks I had upgraded to Windows 8.1 >> Then the above PROBLEMS started...
So, as a request to the tech team or dev team, pls fix this issue.

  • Explorer.exe error on windows 8 with blank message and a yellow warning with ok button

Whenever i boot my laptop the attached screenshot is always popping up, it shows a window with "Explorer.exe" with a yellow warning sign and a "OK" button.

ok, I found a possible solution here:
[FIX] Getting “Explorer.exe” Error On Windows 8 Start Up
    http://www.kapilarya.com/fix-getting-explorer-exe-error-on-windows-8-start-up
    Open regedit.exe, go to
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
and delete the highlighted string "Load". This should fix the issue.

  • How do you repair ntoskrnl.exe error or system error in windows server 2008 and 2012

    hi,
can you repair system file errors like  ntoskrnl.exe in windows server 2008 and 2012  like   like before  in windows server 2003 ?
the steps were  repairing ntoskrnl.exe  error in windows server 2003
1- have a 2003 cd and from that cd  start recovery console and copy from i386 directory ntldr and ntdetect.com to  windows /system32 directory on the  server and then repairing
2- MBR with fixmbr command  and then  rebuild BOT.INI file  with bootcfg/rebuild .
now my question  is how you repair or solve such problem with ntoskrnl.exe error  in windows server 2008 and windows server 2012
    thanks
    johan
    h.david

first this wil take a lot of time for windows 2008 and 2012 ,
and what about windows 2003 I thing this has no startup repair
    thanks
    johan
    h.david
What will take a lot of time? Repair or clean install? These days one can standup a new VM and have an operating system on it in around 20 minutes or so.
Correct server 2003 is file based deployment and completely different OS from repair perspective as well.

    Hi AbbyTaylor,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that you are getting lsass.exe error while trying to login to your Lenovo ThinkPad T400.
Lsass.exe is responsible for how Microsoft Windows handles security and security related policies, authority domain authentication, and Active Directory management on your computer.
Have you tried to start in Safe Mode as well as with the last know good configuration?
Boot with your Windows system CD and go into the repair console. Try performing a system repair.
Refer this knowledgebase and see if it helps!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Install failed "APS DAEMON.EXE error. MSVCR80.dll missing" and "iTunes not installed correctly. Error 7

How do I correct Install failed "APS DAEMON.EXE error. MSVCR80.dll missing" and "iTunes not installed correctly. Error 7

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • IPod generates a svchost.exe error and blocks the computer

Ok, I got an iPod Nano 2GB Silver today and when I plug it in the USB port, a svchost.exe error pops up. The only thing I can do is to press OK, but when I do that, another and another and another... same error pops up. I have to reset the computer in order for the computer to start functioning normally.
I will try to translate what the Event Viewer says about the error (and this is what the error pop-up also states):
Opening application: svchost.exe - Program error : Instructions on »0x00000000« reffered to the memory on »0x00000000«. The memory couldn't be written.
The thing is though, it's working fine on some other laptop, but I don't understand why this is happening on my desktop?! And some of the older mp3 players (not iPods) are working just fine.
    Please, help me!

I have a similar problem which began a couple weeks ago. Same svchost.exe closure, only I couldn't figure out what was causing the problem. Did the format C: and clean XP install, then gradually reinstalled software. When I got around to installing iTunes again, and about 24 hours goes by, I get the same message again. Both the popup and event viewer tell me that the iPod
Service caused the failure. Windows would only suggest that the problem was caused by Windows Update.
Before the fault bucket was generated, there was an Application Information message that states:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( iPod Service ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service started.
So now I am unable to keep my iPod updated, charged, used. Is this what I paid a premium price for?

  • Font Capture and Photoshopserver.exe Error Messages

Often after using Encore CS4 and/or Premiere Pro CS4 I try to shut down my computer but I ger error messages about Font Capture and Photoshopserver.exe. Any ideas?

    Hey Sneedbreedley,
I do have the same problem with Premiere Pro CS4 running on a PC (Windows XP Prof. 32-bit SP3)
It crashes randomly. My system meets all minimum requirements. Tried to reproduce the error, but no chance. I updated all drivers and Adobe updates, but nothing changed.
I am editting in a "Sony XDCAM EX 1080p" Sequence using material from the PMW-EX1 and Canon EOS 7D. The material of the 7D causes a lot more crashes than the EX footage.
In adition to the Font Capture error I get also this error:
    Premiere Pro Debug Event:
    [...Src\RemoteImporterModule.cpp-282]
    and
    PhotoshopServer.exe - Error in Application:
... "0x00a8cacc" directing to memory in "0x00000014". ..."read" couldn´t access the memory.
Does somebody have any ideas? I searched the web for some time no, but couldn´t find any solutions. Even if it isn´t Adobe´s fault, they should figure out the issue, because there are severel users having the same problem. I am thinking to update to CS5, but I actually would like to put my energy into my work and not into any system issues.

  • Firefox gets slow after awhile and also hangs and sometimes i get plugin-container.exe error

Hello, it's a while that Firefox gets slow and also hangs and sometimes i get plugin-container.exe error...
I'm not sure but maybe it often happens after monitor goes to Screen Saver or after it turns off...
    Error signature
    AppName: plugin-container.exe AppVer:1.2.9.3951
    ModVer: 5.1.2600.5512 Offset:0000100b

You can run Java in Firefox.exe instead of plugin-container.exe, but I'm not sure that actually would be better than where you are now.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''java''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) If '''dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled''' is true (bolded), right-click it and choose Reset (or double-click it to toggle).
If that value already is false, you might be having a problem with another common plugin such as Flash.

I think you need to look into how to run wine on 64 bit systems (if you did, your post does not hint at it).
64 bit-related problems go into the 'Other architectures' subforum.

  • User gets crw32.EXE error on some reports

    I have a user who gets a crw32.exe error message  when running some custom reports he has created.   The error signature is as follows:    AppName: crw32.exe;   AppVer:  11.0.0.1252;  ModName:  mfc71u.dll;  ModVer:  7.10.3077.0;   Offset:  00ac991;
We have already  uninstalled and reinstalled Crystal (Standard version).  The user is set up as a local administrator.   He used to be able to perform a work-around to get the reports to run.  He would first open another report and run it, and then open one of the problem reports and it would then run successfully.   This is no longer working.
    Any ideas?

    Additional Information:
While looking at replies to my response and doing the follow-up suggested by these replies, I discovered that if the user launches Crystal Reports first and then uses the application to open the  report file, he can run the report successfully.  In the limited testing, this appears to work every time!
However if he double-clicks on the report file (*.rpt)  in the directory (Windows Explorer) and through the file association, Crystal launches, he will get the error on these few reports every time!   So he has a work around at least, but if you have any further suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

  • I can not resolve a plugin-container.exe error while processing payroll through ADP &have been unable to find the right fix for this. I can send error report.

I have been receiving this error now for a few weeks and have been through multiple layers of IT help trying to resolve it with ADP/Chase Payroll services. When I go to print pay vouchers I get the plugin-container.exe error and I can not print the vouchers. I can provide screen shots if this would help. Can you please advise on how to proceed to resolve this?

This is an issue with that plugin crashing, which isn't something we can really resolve for you. Try to disable it, find a replacement, update it, or contact their support
