hi
i got myselve a macpro with four ati2600xt 's in it
using it for video installations/projection
two days ago i managed to get one of the gpu's to crash
caused by out of memory after that some nice kernel panics ...
is there some where a program where i can see the gpu usage and memory of the gpu's
it tried harware-monitor from Marcel Bresink http://www.bresink.de/osx/HardwareMonitor.html
but it only gives a few percentage numbers

GPU Monitor Gadget showing below 20% usage of Vmem (video memory) for Gtx550ti

Some time in the past week I noticed sub-par performance in video games - i.e. low frames - and checked my Gtx550ti performance stats using the Windows 7 gadget called "GPU monitor" which I have used for over a year.
The Vmem (video memory) used during playing those games was very low at around 10-15% of the 1gb memory installed on the card.
Monitoring RAM usage during that same time through Windows Task Manager showed that general system RAM usage was increased above its normal use whilst playing those games i.e. I know what percentage of my general system RAM is used when I play those games and that percentage has increased a significant amount.
How do I get my games to use the dedicated video memory on my graphics card instead of my general system RAM again and what would cause this switch of resources to happen?
NOTE: I have not changed any settings, hardware, software or anything and the games I am playing are ones I have played for years with good usage of the Gtx550ti video memory.
It's as if the machine just decided to stop using the cards dedicated video memory and use general system RAM instead.

Creative Cloud Desktop App crashes on search for apps

so my Creative Cloud isn't working
i downloaded the desktop "app" logged me in and tried to install any of the programms but as i clicked on the "apps" button it just kept searching and then it crashed, i can't change any of the settings either they are just grey.
i deinstalled it and reinstalled it several times now, searched for any resolutions on the internet but found nothing, so it would be nice if someone can help me in some way.

I began getting popups for Microsoft malware alerts/Mackeeper zeobits/and othe ads. I am on a Mac OS 8.5.

Then I got a phoney call from the "microsoft technicians, so called Applecare and they told me what files to search for if it was Safari and suggested I contact Firefox. I often search my own questions and posts entering the keywords in Search for all user messages. After our forum has been revamped this functionality seems not be working as it used to. When I enter the keywords and Enter it throws me results from Expert Forums instead showing results just from my ID/Username.
Have anyone noticed this ?

Trex search for business object in portal

Hi
I would like to build a KM search iView in portal which enables users to search for business object from backend system.
I have built up the indices for business object in the backend system. In portal->trex monitor->display index details, I can see the indices which are created from backend system. But soemhow, I feel the indices are not usable, as I can not see them in the indexing monitor. And after I created an KM search iview with search component 'search_input_indexes', my index created from backend can also not be shown in the preview of the iview.
I guess there is some step missing. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Yingzhi,
with current releases, business objects indexed through the ABAP-based Search Engine Service (SES) or directly from certain SAP solutions to TREX are not by default accessible from KM.
The next release after NW2004s will enable Enterprise Search and provide the meta-search engine for parallel search access to business objects and KM documents.
Please see the following presentation for some explanations on SES and Enterprise Search and note stated time-lines:

In some monitors that access TREX directly from the portal, you may see the business object indexes, but they are not actually known to KM.

Here is a simplem recursive directory search example you can use to find a
file on your drive. If you know the subdirectory off the root, then you'd
definitely want to specify it to limit the searching on the drive.
It can be used on other systems as well, but you may want to modify it to
use portable file names. This example is specific for Windows
platforms....

I have this exact same problem, a solution would be good.
EDIT: It looks as though this has just resolved itself for no reason. I've added a new source file and it's doing it again with stdint.h. I guess I just have to tolerate it until Eclipse decides to acknowledge the existence of the file (rebuilding etc with the index doesn't do anything).
Not much help if waiting it out isn't working for the OP, he's been waiting a while...

Search for "A word or phrase in the file" in .trc files gives no result

When i Search through Explorer using search for "A word or phrase in the file" in .trc files I get no result.
Probably because these files are of type "Microsoft Network Monitor Document".
But I can open them using Notepad, so why can't I search for a word in these files?
I there another way to search?
Normally I ofcourse use Visual Admin. but there are a lot of trace files so it would be nice to do this kind of search

An alternative is to use other tools which search even faster than the slow MS search does.

Searching for scripts with Spotlight

I decided to ask this question on this forum because AppleScripters are the most likely to search for scripts with Spotlight.
*First, here’s what seems to be the normal behavior of Spotlight:*
If I open the folder “/Users/pierre/Documents/Loisirs/Informatique/Utilisation avancée/AppleScript”, type ⌘F and enter “Kind is Other” and “script” as the search criterion, I get 89 items in the +Searching “AppleScript”+ window.
On the other hand, if I replace the previous criterion with “File extension is scpt”, I get 88 items in the +Searching “AppleScript”+ window, which is normal since one of my scripts is a script bundle, whose extension is “scptd”.
Next, if I open my home folder, type ⌘F again and enter “Kind is Other” and “script” as the search criterion, I get 110 items in the +Searching “pierre”+ window, which again is normal since many of my scripts are outside of my “AppleScript” folder.
*Now, here’s what looks like a bug:*
If I replace the previous criterion with “File extension is scpt” in my home folder, I get only 3 items (instead of 109) in the +Searching “pierre”+ window, which obviously is nonsense.
I have rebuilt permissions and reindexed Spotlight, without any difference.
Any explanation?

Not a explanation, but a possible solution, try some of these ideas:::
1) Restart Mac
2) Rebuild the spot light index manually (I no you said you have done this, this is just a path to follow):
a) launch terminal
b) type this sudo mdutil -E /
c) type in your admin password when prompted
d) rebuilding index should commence (could take a while)
3) clear the spot light caches and prefs:
a) download "Yasu" from here and install

b) enable "Reset System Prefs", "Clear System font Cache", "Clear local font cache", "Clear user font cache"
click ok
c) Restart Mac
4) Kill the SystemUIServer:
a) launch activity monitor, find process "SystemUIServer" highlight then click button quit process

You didn't mention your release, edition and if you are using Automatic Shared Memory Management(ASSM) or not.
At http://tahiti.oracle.com after choosing your release you may search for "shared pool memory advisor" Also if you are using Enterprise Edition Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor(ADDM) will guide you if there is a shared pool specific performance need.

Searching for class files

I have been using sysinternals process monitor(procmon.exe) to see what coldfusion/jrun is doing on the system. I see thousands of createFile operations as jrun searches for things like component.class, application.class, macromedia\jdbc\oracle\OracleURLParser.class, macromedia\jdbc\sqlserver\SQLServerURLParser.class etc. in c:\coldfusion9 directory which it never finds. I would like to know more about what is happening with this. Do I need to change my class path? Is there an optimal order for class paths? Does this represent a cache miss?

Is there any way by which I can iterate through the folders
and get access to all the class files from the method?The Java Developers Almanac 1.4 has an example of "e33.

Searching for Folders

Even though apps get catalogued in folders; I still have a doozy of a time finding the folder I want with 9 pages of stuff; it would be great if spotlight could search for a specific folder name; or is there already a way to do this in search....?

Windows could not search for new updates after applied June 2014 Windows Updates - Error code 80244004

After applied June 2014 Windows Updates from Microsoft (Not using WSUS server to obtain WU), our Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2008 now getting this error message when we perform the "Check for Updates":

Leopard-Searching for new drivers: Canon iP5000

I have recently installed Leopard. When I try to print I get a box stating that no printer is selected. I go to Add Printer . . . and another window pops up with a list and there is my Canon iP5000/USB. When I select it I get a message in the window that says "searching for new drivers" and the spinning gear goes for awhile and then just blinks. I tried installing the Canon driver update from Nov but that did not work. Can anyone help me?

I had the exact same problem, although my printer is an iP1500. I tried everything listed here, except the Gimp drivers, to no avail.
When the spinning gear froze on the Add Printer window, I opened the Activity Monitor, double clicked on the Add Printer process and listed open files. I realized that there were a lot of open EPSON driver files. I found this strange, since I have no EPSON printers anywhere in my network. I assumed that something else was interfering with the driver search process.
I solved the problem by doing the following:
- sudo mv /Library/Printers /Library/Printers_Orig
- mkdir /Library/Printers
- chmod 775 /Library/Printers
- mv /Library/Printers_Orig/Canon/ /Library/Printers/
In essence, the above instructions remove everything except the Canon drivers from the location which the Add Printer application uses to search. When I tried again, the correct driver was almost immediately loaded.
My guess is that the Add Printer application searches everything in the Printers directory and that some other driver (EPSON maybe?) is either corrupt or conflicts somehow with the Canon printer. By leaving only the relevant drivers, the problem goes away.
