Searching for a LabVIEW driver_ HP 70 950B

Hello,
In the frame of a student project, I'm looking for the existence of the LabVIEW driver for the OSA from Agilent referenced HP 70 950 B.
This spectro is quite ancient (about 20 years I think), so I suspect the non-existence of such a driver, could you confirm or no to me this doubt please?
In the case of a negative answer, how do I have to proceed? I was told about directly communicate to the OSA by using GPIB, so what would be "broadly" the procedure? Do I have to use the OSA guide to know how to speak to it directly via gpib (by a sort of translating)?? In this case, do I have to use the Visa GPIB functions from LabVIEW??
Thanks a lot in advance,
Cordially,

    Hi mazhar,
The following link might give you a starting point: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7066
How much external hardware support do you need out of the box?  If you are willing to develop your own hardware drivers (such as LCD, user input, etc), then you can use almost any board with an ARM processor on it.

  • Labview developer-search for remote work

I have 3 year experience as Labview developer. I have good skils in controling devices using different interfaces and automated tests.
I'm searching for some small projects which can be resolved using remote work. If necessary I can travel several time (in Europe).
Also I can aproach any specific project if initial data & rquirement are very clear defined and is no time presure.
If interresed e-mail to [email protected] .
    Thank you!

    Hi there,
Sorry but I have already taken on a new contract. If you send me your email address I can pass your request to some people who could help you.

  • How to search for a text node with a particular value in an xml document with labview

supposing i have the following xml document:

    <author>derrick</author>
    </book>
    </head>
i want to search for the author of the book "the beard" using for example the V.I Get first match  of labview to access the the node with value "the beard" and then use Get next sibling  V.I  and Get node text content to get get the author of this book..so my question is how do i write the xpath expression for Get first match so as to access the node with bookname "the beard" instantyly?  am trying to minimise the use of loops because they increase the time duration,..thank you (NB:i dont want to use Get all Matched V.I because it obliges me to use a loop in order to access the name derrick and this increases the time duration for my v.i)

Since it's all text, why not use a real quick Match Pattern (or Regular Expression, but you don't need that much power here), see attached.

  • Search for Duplicates in a 2D Array

I am working on a program that takes a user input of a job number (imported as a string).
With that job number I need to search a .txt spreadsheet file for the job number and create a cluster of information based on the items in the same row as the job number. I originally accomplished this as shown:
This worked very well. That is, until my data file changed. Now my data file can possibly have a duplicate item as attached. The only difference between the two rows is that the second column has a smaller value. I cannot change how I receive my data. I always need to return the row that has the larger value in the second column.
The method I came up with is as shown:
This method seems to be a lot less efficient than the original method since it requires that even if the job number is the first item on the list, I must step through the entire list. The file I am working with is computer generated, so it will always be sorted by job number, but we cannot guarantee whether the first or the second or the third occurance of the item is going to be the longest.
Any thoughts on a more efficient method of handling this? I searched around and saw a posting that used variant data types to remove duplicate values from a 2D array. I tried to expand that to this application, but I wasn't able to follow the use of variants in that situation. This is the original posting I saw: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Remove-Duplicate-Row-From-2d-Array/m-p/1211071/highlight/false#M5186...
    Thanks,

here is one way to find all matches first and then you can add a fine search/separation if there is more than one match
depending on the size of the sorted array it might be faster if you search for the first match and than look if the next still matches ...

  • Searching for a string in an excel file and return true if found.

How can I search for a string in an excel file and return true if found, its location and also a value.

The problem with searching an excel file is that it contains a header. It would be easiest if you just read the file into a LabVIEW array and search the array. This way you can also get the index and the value of the location.

  • Veristand Problem: When Configuring a project, searching for a library file as a dependent file

    Hi,
The problem that I am having is that I took all of the necessary files in order to run a project and moved it to a different computer. When I open Veristand, and try to configure the project, a pop up window comes up with "Search for Dependent File: [filename]". It then says the missing file and the search directory. You can also browse for the file. So, for about the first couple of files, I just browsed for it and it was fine. But when it reaches a library file, I try to open it and it opens the library inside of Veristand. I think it thinks that I'm trying to get the file from inside of the library instead of the library itself.
    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

  • The search for a perfect design pattern

The search for a perfect design pattern
I am searching tip to upgrade a labview program used. I am looking for the best approach to make
my program more robust and scalable.Software and hardware.
Today the system consists of :
GPS, weather station, ultrasound wind sensor, echosounder  and a  webcamera,  all connected to a computer.
The computer OS is XP pro with Labview version 2009 installed. Except for the webcamera all peripherals have serial communication interface.
    The webcamera  interface is ethernet.
    Device                           Data type                 Interval                    Interface
GPS                                NMEA string                1 second                   Serial  rs232
Ultrasound wind sensor   NMEA string                1 second                   Serial rs232
Weather, temp, humid     NMEA string               35 seconds                 Serial rs232
Echosounder                  NMEA string               500ms-5 seconds       Serial rs232
                                                                          (depending of depth)
Webcamera                    Jpg                           Snapshot on demand  Ethernet
    The tasks to be solved
All the data have to be stored.
All the data have to be displayed in real time.
Weather history data must be buffered to be plotted in a graph (pop-up windows).
Absolute wind speed and direction have to be calculated.
Option to send navigation data attached to email at desired time intervals.
Image snapshot at desired time intervals.
The data wich streams into the serial ports are not synchronized and vary in intervals . Would it be a good idea to put all the serial peripherals into a serial device server. Is it possible to let the server place a event in my software, to  trigger reading of the data, from the the server.  Or how could that be done in other ways?
    The perfect design pattern
In version one of the software I use 4 parallel loops to read data at the serial ports, inside these loops the data was separated and outputted to a datasocket server.  I used datasocked read in other loops to present and store data. But it did not look good, and yes it was a mess, a really rat nest. I am looking for a better design pattern.
Could some kind of producer/ consumer pattern be the way to go?
    Comments and tips are wanted.
    TIK

    Nice Project! Congratulations ;-)
I am not an expert for large applications. But your project looks nice and manageable. Here my straightforward ideas:
I would build a GUI, with menu bar, pop-up graph display thing.
THen low level tasks with each one handling a RS232 device and feeding queues or fireing notifications.
Maybe handle the snapshots in an event structure on the GUI blockdiagramm.
When GUI and producer tasks are running, close the gap with a middle layer which captures the data and actualizes GUI by reference. For instance the graph-thing-dialogue triggers a "flush queue" and displays the last 200 entries of the array of data.
I often run into issues when having defined too many userevent structures. I guess i am too stupid for that. Thats why i rather use queues (when i dont want to loose data) or notifiers (data is up-to-date). Nevertheless I like a "stop-all-tasks" user event...traditionally.

  • Setting Search Directory with LabVIEW RTE

    Hi,
I've LabVIEW 8.0.1 run time engine installed on target computer and would like to run LabVIEW executable on target computer.  I also have required low level support VIs for developed VIs.
Question is: how do I set the search directory for low level VIs with LabVIEW run time engine installed on the system.
    Suggestions/comments are appreciated.  Thank you.

If your hierarchy is the same as was in the IDE, then there won't be a need to search for the VIs. If the VIs are not found where they are expected to be, then LV (including the RTE) starts to search for them first in the folder where the VI\application is and then in the folders in its list. To change the list, you need to place the viSearchPath key in your application's INI file. You can copy this key from the labview.ini file and then modify the paths listed in it.

  • Search for a regular expression in a 1D array?

I've got a 1D array of strings, and I want to find the row with "Date: yy/mm/dd" in it. Since yy/mm/dd would not necessarily be the same between runs, I can't look for the row with "Date: yy/mm/dd".
I tried using the Search 1D Array with "Date: " and "Date: *" as my element input, but it didn't find either of 'em.
I don't know where in vi.lib the function would be in, otherwise I'd attempt to mod the function to take regular expressions, and my off-the-cuff search attempt (looping through the array & using Match Regular Expression) had some odd errors and still didn't find the row.
    Thanks!

What do you define as a "row"? Is each row a single array element? Since your array elements are strings, each array element itself could be a multiline|multirow string itself that might need to be analyzed one row at a time.
    To look for patterns:
If you have LabVIEW 8.0 or higher, you can use "Match regular expression". Else you can use "Match Pattern". It really depends how specific you need to be. Are there lines that start with "Date:" but don't contain a formatted date afterwards?
To search for array elements starting with simple string "Date:", use "match first string".

  • Search & Replace in LabVIEW

    Hello All
Is there a way to do a "Search & Replace" in LabVIEW as in other e.g. text based programming languages?
In LabVIEW you can right click at the object and select replace. But when I have many of instances this procedure is getting long.
I know I can save other vi as the given vi, but this will replace also other instances in other projects, which I do not want.
    Thanks in advance.
    Pawel

This could have partial usefulness for sub VIs, but not for plain LabVIEW items (who would want to do a global replace of all "add" with a "multiply"... ;-)
Unlike in text based languages, "replace" is not such a clear cut operation. What do do if the terminals don't match? Often, it requires a manual cleanup.
There are a few workarounds, depending on how your VIs are organized. Are both in user.lib?
For example, if you really need to replace a subVI in a complex application, save it as development distribution, quit LabVIEW, then use explorer to temporarily rename the obsolete subVI and replace it with the new VI using the old name. Now re-open the toplevel VI, doubleclick any instance of your new subVI and give it the new more appropriate name. Save e
verything again and all will be updated to call the new subVI using the new name.
Now rename the old subVI back to what it was so other projects that use it don't choke.

  • Looking help for developing labview code [Urgent]

    Hi,
I need help in developing labview code. I am new to labview and will appreciate if someone can help me in this matter. I need to control the intensity of AC load (halogen lamp with 2kW,230V,50Hz) using Labview and Arduino. But my project using interrupt in Arduino, so it is not possible to use Labview Interface For Arduino(LIFA).  I searched and it might be possible to use VISA serial in this matter. Attached is the circuit and the code of Arduino. Someone who is expert in this matter can help me?
The concept of my project is almost same with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeVJ5bs6E8M&feature=youtu.be
