I'm currently using CS5 to create images to compete in club competitions, enter national exhibitions and gain distinctions (CPAGB) etc
I produce both prints and dpi images and am particularly keen to develop monotone images
I've currently achieved some quite good results from within PS itself but would now like to acquire a good plugin to help
I'm looking for programmes (either free or to purchase) that others have found effective

My current technique is to convert to greyscale in ACR and then follow up by making adjustments in HSL to get the best possible B&W and then if appropriate for the image going into the new Grain/Post Crop Vignetting panel and this part of the image development is coming along quite well
My problem area at the moment is getting a good Sepia/Split Tone etc
I've tried the Split Toning panel in ACR which works quite well but can feel a bit fiddily sometimes to get just right
I thought maybe a simple plugin could be an answer
Any suggestions for ideas for doing it in PS would be very much welcomed

this is a real pain because when i replace the plugin with the exact same plugin from its propper location i loose all the settings that were originaly used.

Missing a plugin but when try to search for it , it won't find it.

I am trying to run a chatroom. Whenever I load the page, it says "A plugin is needed to display content" When I click that, it says to do "Java Runtime Environment" When I click next to have it run, it says not available and to try Manual Install. When I try that, nothing works. I've tried to search for that plugin and won't work. I was able to get on this chat site for months until I had to update java about 3 weeks ago. What can I do to fix this?

How to Light Wrap

With Firefox 5.0.1, I can no longer have search terms highlighted when I search via cache. This makes searching for key concepts impossible now. Is there a plan to fix this issue?

In the past, before Firefox 5.0.1, I would search for key terms via the cache mode; thus, the terms would be highlighted in various colors so that I could scroll down the page and find the exact terms.
This is no longer functioning since I downloaded 5.0.1

The new tab page (about:newtab) wasn't introduced until a later version of Firefox (iirc, ''Firefox 10'') , which is why that pref can't be found.
Sounds like your father picked up some Malware.

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

I began getting popups for Microsoft malware alerts/Mackeeper zeobits/and othe ads. I am on a Mac OS 8.5.
I downloaded virus protection, adware protection and ran them all and got nothing. Then I got a phoney call from the "microsoft technicians, so called Applecare and they told me what files to search for if it was Safari and suggested I contact Firefox. Below are the files we search for on my hard drive, but because I use Firefox
they suggested I contact you as I am somewhat concerned. Can you help advise, thanks

PDF Searching using Adobe Acrobat Plugin Find Function in Safari

I currently incorporate the Adobe Acrobat Pro (9.1.2) plugin for viewing PDF files. I like using Safari for viewing PDFs within a web browser, but I find Safari's built-in Find function (open apple-F) inferior to Acrobat's ability to search for text within the PDF, as it never finds the words that I search for.
My question is: Is there an efficient built-in shortcut within Safari to search text within a PDF using Adobe Acrobat's plugin Find function? If not, is there a relatively easy, keyboard-based shortcut that could be made to direct the Find function to the Adobe Acrobat plugin Find function within Safari?

Figured it out. It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat. Here's the fix:
Open Finder/Applications
Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
Quit Safari
Launch Safari
Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

How to search for the url in a hyperlink.

Is it possible to search a PDF and find the url in a hyperlink? According to Adobe, no! But is there some third party software?
We are attempting to find a url in many PDF's but the hyperlink could have many different naming styles. Is there a way to search for something like referral=4320 where that is in the url http://www.example.com?referral=4320&test=1

If this url is a part of the running text of the PDF (by that I mean that
you can actually see it in when opening the file), then yes, it's quite
possible to write a script that will find it.
If it's a part of a link (meaning it's not visible on the PDF), then it can
only be achieved with a plugin or an external application.

Bare minimum include files/project settings for a photoshop plugin

Hi, I've been reading the documentation and gone through some samples in the SDK and I'm starting to feel comfortable with the whole plugin environment (though there is still much for me to learn).
The question I have is "what are the bare minimum files I need to include, libraries to link, etc in order to compile a photoshop plugin?" I apologize if this is a repeat question, I did my best to search for an answer.
The motivation behind my question is that I am ultimately interested in developing plugins for both Windows and Mac with the least amount of hassle. Ideally, I'd like to be able to run a single script (probably on a linux machine using gcc/mingw) that compiles all of my most recent code so I'm trying to find out how can boil down the SDK to the minimum components to make this as simple as possible so my programs don't have relics/artifacts from the example code in them. I'm also not certain how to accomplish what I just described but that's probably a question for a different forum. Any help is much appreciated!

When I do a search for a particular song in the iTunes store, how can I change the view for the results?

I have the latest version of iTunes. Today I did a search for a particular song. In the past, I used to get a list of the song and the various artists who recorded it, and I could click the little arrow and play a preview of that song before I decided to buy it. Today the results didn't display that way - instead, I got a page with probably 50 or 100 songs all spread out across the page, and the "writing" was all overlayed so you couldn't quite tell what you're supposed to see! I want to go back to the "list" view but couldn't find anywhere to change the view preference. Any idea how?

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

I am trying to remove Conduit from my G5 running 10.5.8 It has kidnapped my homepage in Tenfourfox 17.0.7 I have searched for a solution an nothing seems to work. It is necessary for me to change the operating system to get rid of this?

Close Safari, then locate and delete the following files and it should be gone:

Library/Receipts - If you read it, it has information in it at the bottom referring extensively to "CT" and "community toolbar".
Maybe it is harmless, but trash those items anyway!
If you are running Lion:
From the Finder Menu bar, select Go ▹ Go to Folder, and in the box that opens write:
~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Delete the second item if it is there.
Now select Go to Folder again and enter /Library
From the folder that opens, delete the following items if they are there (you may need your login password):
Application Support/Conduit
InputManagers/CTLoader
LaunchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
ScriptingAdditions/ct_scripting.osax
then close the folder. Now select Go to Folder again and write: /Applications/Toolbars
Delete that item and close the Finder windows you opened. Log out then log back in, and you should be rid of it.
Note: Safari does not support any third-party toolbars except those supplied as an extension to Safari via the Extension Gallery.

Why does the location bar only perform searches, even typing about:config just returns a google search for "about:config"

My location bar will only perform web searches and no longer takes the browser directly to web address entered manually. for example typing "about:config" returns the results of a google search for "about:config", typing "http://www.gawker.com" does not take me to gawkers website but rather returns google search results for "http://www.gawker.com".

Or maybe your ISP is doing the redirect, but that is doubtful since you're getting two different redirect addresses (unless you are using two different ISP's).

[CS5.5][Os X 10.7] Problem searching for file when placing a picture

Hi,
With this post, I would like to ask a question.
In Indesign CS5.5 on Mac Os X, when placing a picture using the place option, there is in the top right corner a search field. When browsing to a certain network folder and trying to search for files whitin that folder, which have filenames containing a part of the search string, no files are found.
For example: a folder containing 200 files with names starting with "sports baseball 001" up to "sports baseball 200". When searching for "baseball" no results are found.
What I could find on the internet, are several discussions relating to huge problems with Spotlight on 10.7 and 10.8 and network drives.
Does anyone know of any fix or plugin for Adobe Indesign that allows fast file search in a folder when placing a picture in a document?
Whe have this issue with all our mac's running these versions of Os X and Adobe Indesign.
Any feedback would be helpfull.

Good to hear that Adobe engineering is taking a look. However you might want to file a formal bug/feature report here: Wishform, to get it on record as a customer/user problem, and to perhaps attract additional requests from others who have the same problem.
I'm not sure if the commercial Mac application Default Folder X would fix the problem. You might want to test their trial.
