Searching for a podcast by keyword???

I find the iTunes interface frustrating. There are categories for podcasts but I can find no way to search for a particular subject or keyword. Is this hidden somewhere or does Apple just not want searching this way?

Yes you can.
You can search for a word that appears in either the programme title, the epsiode title, the episode decription or even the expanded episode description. I haven't tested this fully, so it may also be searching other fields as well, but choosing a suitable word to search on will reduce the number of results, (words such as +and, the, it+ aren't!). However, to set this up so that you see the relevant fields, in the Podcast library, make sure you have the Description column showing in addition to the Podcast title. (Right-click the column header and tick Description.)
When you are in the Podcast library, do you see the search box (with the magnifying glass) in the top right corner of the iTunes window? Click on the small arrow next to the magnifying glass and make sure the All option is ticked. Enter your search word into the box and as you type in each additional letter, the results will be displayed. The list gets shorter with each letter you type.
The results list will show the search results, but if you can't see your word, that's because it's in one of the fields not yet displayed. Expand the programme title (using the arrow to the left of the title) to show episodes. If there is a desrciption, the word may be in there and if you highlight the episode, the description field will show an i at the end of column. Click on the i to see the expanded description.
I've even tried entering two words into the search box at once and sure enough, I got only the episode with both words in it.

You could always try a manual ping of the iTMS servers...enter this in your browser's URL field adding your podcast's ID number at the end:

I know that this is a good way to get the iTMS to refresh your episode listing...not totally sure it will help the keyword issue.

Searching for images with no keywords in large catalogs - LR5

I have a catalog with several thousand images and 98% have keywords. Is there any way to do a global search for the images which I may have missed adding keywords to?

Is there a way to change the order in which iTunes searches for new podcasts?

When I tell iTunes to update podcasts, it searches for them in the order that I have subscribed to them. However, most of my favorite podcasts I've started listening to only very recently, so on a day with a large number of new podcasts I have to wait for a few minutes before iTunes even detects and places them on the "downloading" queue. The sheer number of podcasts I am subscribed to makes unsubscribing from all and then resubscribing in a more optimal order thoroughly unpleasant. Is there a way I can reorder the priority queue for checking for new podcasts, so that I can click 'refresh,' grab my favorites right away, put them on my iPod Shuffle, and the leave the rest to download?

I'm not sure, but I think the change was using the font "Segoe UI" instead of "Tahoma", and maybe, Lucida Grande.
I haven't tried it, but I assume you can edit the fonts, which are specified in (basically) a text file (at least, for iTunes 10).
Make a backup of the file before you edit anything (or you can repair/reinstall if you mess it up). See the following post for some more info:

You'll want to edit the "font", not the "xp-font". I can't tell you what fonts will work.

Search for photos with multiple keywords

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to search for photos that have multiple keywords. When selecting multiple keywords in a Bridge search the default behavior is to find photos that have any of the keywords rather than all of the keyword. In other words I want to do an AND keyboard rather than an OR search.

You should be able to do so in the find menu of Bridge (Edit/Find or cmd+F)
With the plus sign you can add an extra (and) keyword to it.
A shortcut may be to first find one keyword and then use the filter panel
keyword section and select the other wished keywords by putting a checkmark
in front, only the selected files will show in the content window.
In other words I want to do an AND keyboard rather than an OR search.

When searched for, my podcast shows up with my name only.

Hello there. My buddy and I decided to make a podcast and all is going well, except when I search for it it just shows up as "Blake's Podcast" by "Blake Perdue" in the results page. No picture either. However, when you click on it the podcast itunes page itself looks completely fine, with picture and proper titles.

As you say, the Store page is fine, and you can subscribe and get correct results. The feed seems to be OK.
Was your podcast previously entitled 'Blakes's Podcast' and you changed the title? Experience of other posters here suggests that for some reason the search results page can take a lot longer to update than the Store page does; so if this is the case it's just a question of waiting until it sorts itself out.
If your podcast was never entitled 'Blake's Podcast' then there is no obvious explanation, and I could only refer you to Support:

Searching for pictures with 2 keywords

Hi guys, I was just wondering if there is way to search for files with two specific keywords.
Lets say that I want to find picture that contains both Nicol and Brandy keywords. Not just one or the other. Is there any way to that in Bridge CS5?

Yes, yes there is. You need to use the Find function (Ctrl F in Windows).
With the Find window you will see a + at the right edge of Criteria line. Click that and it will add lines.
Select the Match for "All criteria met".

Accent insensitive + Search for 2 non consecutive keywords

If you know the order of the keywords (that is, if 'LAST' must come before 'RESOLUTION'):
WHERE str LIKE '%LAST%RESOLUTION%'where str is the string with accents standardized.
Now, since you're starting with a variable like 'LAST RESOLUTION', you need to convert it to '%LAST%RESOLUTION%', so say
WHERE str LIKE '%' || REPLACE ( :p1_report_search     -- TRANSLATE would work, too
               || '%'Watch out for the "mother is in chemotherapy" problem.
That is, if str = 'AMY''S ORDEAL WITH CHEMOTHERAPY", and :p1_report_search = 'MY MOTHER', you'll get a match, because str contains the 2-character sibstring 'MY' and the 6-character substring 'MOTHER' in that order.
If that's not what you want, then you can search on whiole words only, like this:

This assumes that all words are delimited by spaces.
If you want punctuation or other whtiespace (like tabs) to delimit words, that can be done, too.

I have a requirement where the user wants to search for people in an organisation using specific values instead of only free text.
On the search page the user wants to select business unit,location etc from a drop down box and then search for all people in that unit. Is this possible without custom coding?

As I understand, you would like to add drop-down boxes for sorting search results in SharePoint 2013. I'd suggest you consider customizing refiners in search result page.

How to search for audio podcasts in a specific language?

In the iTunes store, I can search podcasts by category. But I am interested in German language audio podcasts, only. Is there any way to restrict the search?

Its very simple to locate the HARD CODED ones in the ABAP report.
Just Press <CONTROL+F> or the Binacular Icon to the top of the page.
A Pop up wil come asking for wat u want to locate in ur program.
Jus enter the single qoute in the blank space n click find.
then u can replace them with the text elements u create.

Is it possible to search for keywords in an XML file?

Hey all,
I'm currently searching for ways to count the number of pre-defined keywords in an XML file. An example would be trying to find how many times "war" is mentioned in a news networks RSS feed <title></title> and adding it to a variable.
I've found a few custom AS3 XML class files out there but nothing I've been able to adapt. I'm at the point of considering just taking the title of these news stories converting them all to strings and searching them that way...

An XML element can have multiple attributes such as:
<title keyword="war" category="international">War Breaks Out in the Middle East!</title>
In the above example, the XML element <title> has 2 attributes named keyword and category.
So in my example I'm searching for the attribute named "keywords" within the element <newsItem>.
The XML document could be formatted something as the following:

I need help for my podcast!! Please

I registered at podhost.de and got a feed, which I can't edit myself. I made my podcast and got it into iTunes and it's there! That was the best of the day, but now.....
I just made it all so fast, that all informations that are now listed in iTunes are wrong...

And now I already changed the properties more than ten times, and it doesent react in iTunes. Only when I suscribe. Now, I am new here and from Germany(sorry for my english^^) and I read something abot a ping. I think thats what I need, because iTunes only updates one time per day? Right?
But I can't change my feed directly. I only have this menus and want to update it now....what can I do?

I found out myself now....I just took the adress of an user here given for the podcast ping received and I put my ID in and it works.
But I have one other question. My album art appeard at iTunes too now...and the only thing is, if I search for my podcast it doesn't come. Maybe, the reason are my keywords. As I told you, I can not change the rss code, I only can do changes in form of the website. There is a window called key words, but I don't know how to put them there in... I mean, shall I write the words so:

I just don't know...

Image for main Podcast page

I have a question. I was able to add an image to my podcasts that I am sending to iTunes and thats great. However, I do not know how to make my main image be the same? By main image I mean when you do a search for a podcast the 1st list of results you see. Some have an image and others are the blue default image> THAT is the image I want to change.
Second question: How do I delete a podcast that I sent to itunes that is blank? For some reason it has no audio, its playtime is 0 seconds.

The 'Podcast Image' which appears in the Store page is referenced in the feed in the 'itunes:image' tag. If you've managed to get this to appearw in the Store you've done this correctly (and you're lucky - some people have been waiting for weeks for their images to appear).
The small version which appears in the Search results is drawn from the same tag: for some reason it always takes rather longer to appear than the main image. As its taken from the same tag there isn't really anything you can do about it except wait.
If you want to remove an episode simply delete it from the feed and re-publish. It will disappear immediately for new subscribers but it will take a couple of days before it disappears from the Store.

Search for text and font

I have an 800 page pdf document to index and so far I have a script that will search for a list of keywords. But the text has large sections of code in a different font, and I think we would like to generate an index of just code examples. Is there a way to search for text of a given font in applescript? Something like

You asked about the script formatter. red_menace of this forum wrote the script I use. To use it, you copy the script that you want to format to the clipboard and run the formatter. This then places the marked-up text in the clipboard so that you can paste it into the forum page.

ITunes app incorrectly shows no episodes for many podcasts

When I search for particular podcasts in my iTunes store app on my 3GS iPhone, many of those podcasts show no available episodes for downloading, even though my wife's iPhone 4 shows numerous episodes available for those exact same podcasts.
Any suggestion on why my iPhone does not access as many available podcasts from the iTunes store as my wife's iPhone?
