Searching for Apps - Most Popular

I was just looking at the itunes app store and comparing it to my experiene with Android Market when it comes to search. When typing something or some topic in the search bar...a bunch of apps will come up but they dont seem to be in any particular order. Are they? Can you put them in order such as most popular or most downloaded? Unless the apps are in the top list, its hard to find which are the good ones and the most popular, most downloaded, best reviewed. When I look at what pops up after the search, the apps seem to be in no particular order. Often the ones with the most and best ratings are in the middle or bottom of the page, and the top apps are not well-rated. The iphone app store is supposed to be the creme of the crop so I dont understand why the search engine seems so OFF compared to what I notice with Android Market where the apps are generally listed in order of popularity.
So whats the best way of finding iphone apps you want?

DeskTop Manager freezes when searching for apps

Have the most recent 4.6 software installed. Worked on day 1 with my new Bold, now everytime it searches for Apps, the status bar goes to what looks to be 100% then freezes. Cannot load anything? Anyone having this problem?

How can I view more than one result on the screen when I search for apps? eg I search for my hobby and there are over 1500 results - one result per screen - do I have to swipe 1500 times to see them all?

I search for apps about my hobby. There are over 1500 results. Each single result takes up the whole screen. I will have to swipe the screen 1500 times to see all the results. How can I see 8 or 10 results and scroll through fast? Thanks very much for any suggestions!

How do i get the app store to search for apps again

in the app store i set it to recommend apps now i cant get it to go back to normal so i can search for apps how do i fix this?

Go to Settings>General>Restrictions and set the Restrictions for time before a password is required to immediate. See:

The App Store just goes white when I attempt to search for apps.

My App Store screen just goes white when I attempt to search for apps. You can tell it tries for a few seconds and then nothing but white.

See if any of these suggestions from appletoolbox.com work for you.
Please try each step until you resolve your issue:
Tap Settings > General > Date and Time > Set Automatically > Off. Set the date one year ahead. Then try to access the App Store.
It may be a connection issue. Try changing your DNS settings to Google’s open DNS by tapping Settings > Wi-Fi >, tap the blue arrow next to your current Wi-Fi network, and then tap the “DNS” field and enter the DNS servers; 8.8.8.8 (Google’s Public DNS). (see this article)
Close the App Store completely by pressing the home button twice, pressing and hold the App Store icon until it starts to wiggle, then tapping the minus sign to close it. Re-launch the App Store.
Restart your device by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button until “Slide to Power off” appears.
Launch the App Store; if it is still blank with nothing shown, wait a few minutes. Sometimes apps may load slowly because of networking issues.
If still nothing appears, try changing the device’s language by tapping Settings > General > International > Language. Pick a language. Pick any other second language you already know or be familiar with. If you don’t, do not forget to navigate back in a different language. Change the language, launch the App Store, then change the language back to what it was originally.
Sign out of your Apple ID by tapping Settings > iTunes & App Store, tap your Apple ID and select “Sign Out”. Wait one minute and sign back in by reentering your Apple ID and password.

To more easily find compatible apps:

Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

I have same issue. It will let me know to update apps.
But if I want to search an app my friend may have. Nothing comes up after typing it in the search bar.
Same with the featured apps or the star charts , nothing comes up.
Now I just updated my iPad and so far so good. But my iPhone 4S is the problem since upgrading to ios6.
What to do.....
Apple...... You shouldn't rush these things.... Take your time and make it right .....

We are currently looking for a way to get rid of paper in our business. We have machines all over the place as well as staff.
Does anyone have a app that can manage employee hours and would be able to record plant (machine) hours and jobs?

If you are using Quick books in your company you can search for apps through their system and there is one that integrates with QB15 that is great but i cant remember the name right this second .

Can't search for apps in Chinese

I have just noticed I am suddenly unable to pull any search results on either my iPhone or Tunes apps store using Chinese. When I type Chinese, the suggestions for specific apps come up as normal but if I click on any of these or carry out my original search the result is always "No Matches". I have even tried to search for some of the most basic terms, e.g. 中文 (Chinese language), and apart from a list of suggested apps, I still always end up with "No Matches". About half of all the apps I download, buy and use are associated with China or the Chinese language in some way, so this is a pretty big problem for me. I haven't changed anything that I can think of and because both the iTunes App Store and my iPhone App Store are exhibiting the same problem, it looks like a back-end one. I am with the UK store and plenty of people download and purchase Chinese apps on here and some Chinese apps are very popular too. What's happened?

Close all apps and reset your phone.
In order to close apps completely, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPhone by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the device start up.

Search for apps shows blank screen

I typically open programs by hitting the windows key and then typing in the name of the program. However, currently when I start to type, most of the screen (where the results would show) is completely blank. I see the number of results along the right side
of the screen, and if I hit 'enter' it will open the first result.
Interestingly, if I search for something that doesn't exist, then the results show up, and will stay there as long as I stay on the search screen.
Similarly, the start page sometimes show up, and sometimes is just blank (when it's blank, I can still click on the screen and apps will start. I just can't see what I'm clicking on). If it is blank, I can get it back by searching for a term that returns
0 App results and hitting 'escape' to get out of the search. If I hit the Windows key again, the screen is still blank.
What's going on?! I haven't installed updates in 2 weeks, and this just started in the last few days.

Are you referring to partial matches? Also, you should clarify the options you are using to produce your symptom. E.g. I use the
Show the Apps view automatically when I go to Start and leave its suboption Search everywhere... unchecked (in Taskbar and Navigation properties). So, for example, for me, pressing Win- always shows
Apps by most used and there is always something to show even if my typing does not result in a match.
Similarly, the start page sometimes show up, and sometimes is just blank (when it's blank, I can still click on the screen and apps will start. I just can't see what I'm clicking on).
This sounds like a Second screen mode problem. Press Win-P and see what mode you are in. Try changing the mode to see how it changes your symptom.

My app store wont let me search for apps it wont load anything

when i go to search for an app in the app store it wont load anything i even tried searching for angry birds becasue i know theres an app for that and nothing loads at all i have turned off and on my phone and still nothing!

Tap Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Then in Settings make sure Cellular Data is ON. If you are in a WiFi area, relog into WiFi.

How do I search for apps that work on my iPod Touch Generation 1 (Version 3.1)?

I have the original iPod Touch and I want to give it to my toddler to play with... so I can have my phone back! The problem is I cannot find apps that work on the older operating system 3.1.3. Is there a way to search for them?

When you make a playlist it makes a "shortcut" of the file, not a copy of it and the size is so tiny it takes about 10,000 to make 1 mb. It doesn't make a duplicate. It just makes the song appear in a playlist too. Make sure you have the latest iTunes, make sure genius is on, and click Store, update genius. then sync iPod. If you still have a problem, please write wore info about the computer you have. Find all of this (on a PC) click start, run, type winver, then hit enter. (For Mac) Click apple icon (top-left), abou this mac.

Searching for apps not showing the desired apps

On 6/28/2012 at around 4 PM EST, I searched for the app "Chrome" on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1. I wasn't shown the Chrome browser in the search results. However, when I search for the same app on iTunes on my mac, I can find that app. I don't want to synch my phone to my comupter just to install this app. Any idea why might this be happening. This isn't the first time, it has happened before too. BTW my account is US iTunes based account.

But this issue always happens, whenever there is a new app. I have to wait for a day or two or install it by synching the phone to my mac. I just want to throw it out there, so that I know if this happens to others or just me.
