Searching for Free Music in iTunes.

Is there a way to search for free music in the iTunes Music Store?
Thanks
Michael

There is no back catalog of free music in the iTunes Store. Each free single is available only for a week. So the free track listed on the main iTunes Store page, Laura Marling this week in Aus, is the only free track available at this time. Next week there will be a different track available free.

I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extreme (2 TB drive plugged into the USB port).  I see the drive on my laptop and I can add and delete files no problem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptop's hard drive?  I don't have enough space to do that.

How did you move the music to the external drive?  What exactly is on the drive?  The entire iTunes folder or only music?  If it is the entire iTunes folder you can do the option+start suggestion earlier.  If you copied only music and did so by dragging it there then you need to delete it again and consolidate/organize it there instead so iTunes tracks the move.  iTunes 12 for Mac: Change where your iTunes files are stored - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19507

Due to recent security issues and identify theft (mostly due to phishing scams), the iTunes Store seems to be requiring more frequent verification of credit card information when a card is registered in your account, even if you have a balance from a prepaid card. Either just go through the verification process or, if you have a credit card entered and you don't expect to need the card anytime soon, go into the Payment information in your account and set the payment method to "none" which should then stop the regular requirements for verification  (it may still ask - mine does - but you should just be able to click through the buttons without problems).
    Hope this helps.

  • Can iTunes search for all music on my system and rebuild the library?

Is there any way to make iTunes search for all music on my hard drive and completely rebuild the library from scratch?
    Thanks.

do you know how to re-locate files to an existing library?
All of a sudden, about 2/3 of my songs (over 6,000) will not play and a box comes up saying "The song 'x' could not be used because the original file cannot be found. Would you like to locate it?"
I went to Edit > Preferences > Advanced and have the correct (fixed) external drive letter selected for the folder location. and the files haven't moved, but iTunes isn't finding them. Restarted the computer making sure the drive was on.
I'd like to not lose all the ratings I've worked on. Hoping you or someone has a solution!!
    thanks!

  • HT1879 Searching for a Tv show, itunes only returns music tracks

I have been getting so frustrated. I select TV from the menu then put into the search bar which show I want. However, the results of the search are always music tracks not TV shows, and I have to try all over again. I have then had to scroll through the whole page of shows to find the one I was searching for. Is there a way to fix this and make it easier?

The Search box just searches the whole store, it's doesn't limit it to the part of the store that you are currently viewing. And not all TV programmes are available in from iTunes or in all countries.
You could use this webpage to search for items https://linkmaker.itunes.apple.com
That will give a link to click on which will allow you to view an items's description page on a browser, and which will have a 'view in iTunes' button on the left-hand sde of it to then go to it in the store.
Or there is also a Browse button under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the store home page :
That will allow you to select TV programmes, the genre, and the programme and series

  • Free Music with iTunes

I just got an iPod and was informed that you can get free music from iTunes on Tuesdays or with special offers. How do I get the free music? Is there a special place you have to go on the iTunes site?

    Is it good?
It's marketing. You'll likely find some stuff you've never heard (same is true for the samplers that pop up every now and then). A few of these artists I've gon on to add more to my collection, and a few I've tried to burn from my memory. Most are innofensively in the middle.
But hey! You never know your next favorite artist until you listen

  • When I search for an artist in itunes, the songs will pop up and then the page goes blank?

When I search for an artist in itunes, the songs pop up briefly, but once the page loads completely, the page goes blank.

I'm having the same difficulty.  I'm running Windows Vista with iTunes 9.0.3.15.  iTunes opens up just fine and I can get to the Store's homepage, but when I try and search for a song, the results just flash on the page for 2 seconds and then it's all gone....I'm left with one big, empty box.  If I'm quick, sometimes I can click on a random song and I can hear the sample played, but then it's gone again while the song is playing.
Guess I won't be buying anything more from iTunes...
Tried to ask about this problem here:  http://www.apple.com/ca/support/itunes/contact.html
I'll post any response I receive.
Maybe you can try contacting them too to see what they have to say?

  • Searching for Movie Types in iTunes

I would like to search for surfing movies in ITunes but it isn't possible to search for a movie by subject in iTunes the way that I can with tv shows. Am I missing something or should I continue to get my surf movies from Netflix?

You can browse movies by category (though there's not a category for "surf") but there's no way to search for them, only by Title, Actor, Director, Producer, or Year.

  • Norway radio station for clasical music in iTunes?

Do you know if there is any radio station from Norway for clasical music in iTunes?

    Hi Cavittcl,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below may be able to help you with this.
Click on the link to see more details and screenshots.
    About iTunes Radio
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5848
    Allowing explicit tracks
iTunes Radio by default is set to play tracks not marked as explicit. To enable explicit tracks, tap the Info button (looks like the letter i in a circle) at the top of the screen from within any station. Tap to turn on Allow Explicit Tracks. Enabling explicit tracks will enable explicit tracks for all radio stations on that device. This setting does not sync to other devices.

  • Question about how itunes searches for my music

    hi,
i have a large library of music that i used to store on an internal hard drive (f:), but recently i got an external hard drive and moved all my music to it (g:).
i copied all my music to the g drive, and in the advanced pull down menu in itunes i changed the location to search for music to g: my music... at that point i thought i was done.
but as it turned out, whereas i thought i had MOVED all my files to the g drive, i had actually copied them, and the ones that were originally on the f drive are still there.
since then i have added lots of music to the library, and it all lives on the g drive. but i am starting to run out of space on my f drive, so when i discovered there were duplicate files there, i wanted to delete them all. here's wherein my problem lies.
if i go to a song that was in the library before i switched over to the g drive, in the get info window for that song in itunes, it still lists the song as living in the f drive as opposed to the g drive.
i need to delete all the music off the f drive, but my concern is that itunes will say i've just lost all that music. is there a way to basically empty out/depopulate itunes of all the music, and then go to file> add folder to library and just choose the g: my music folder? i know it will take a while, but that's fine. i just don't want to lose access to 27 out of 38 gigs of music by deleting the music off my f drive, and i really don't want to have to go through folder by folder and make the transition, as there are several groups who have music listed in both the f anf the g folders... it would be a nightmare to have to go through group by group, album by album.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
If you delete everything from your iTunes library
(Moving it to the Recylcle Bin), you can then go to
File>Add Folder to Library and select the Music
    folder from your external drive.
Or, from the file browser you can locate the Music
folder on the external drive and drag+drop it into
    the iTunes window.
    Hope this helps!
    hi,
okay... this worked sort of, but now i've lost all my playlists. they are still on my actual ipod, but now i need to know... if i go to sync the ipod with itunes, will itunes recognize my playlists and move them into itunes? or do i now need to go through and manually re-setup all my playlists BEFORE syncing again, because the playlists will get wiped out when i go to sync?
please let me know if you have any info about this... i really don't want to lose all my playlists.
    thanks,

  • Help, recently my hard drive failed so I put in the original that came with my mac back in. ( I have a lot of music and the old HD was too small). It was replaced with a Samsung HM640JJ Spinpoint drive . Now i have to search for my music b4 i can play it

I tried to restore from time machine, but there was not enough space to load all my music and aplications. I tried to convert it to mp3 now I have bitrates of 128,160,and 1141kbs.  If I try to play a song in the Itunes I get the song could not be used because the original could not be found, would you like to search for it.  Will I have to do this for the remaining 7400songs?
    Thanks in advance

so basically, I have all this music on my computer already, and I've been trying to go through it to cut it down to only the things I want.... can I drag those files directly from itunes to a hard drive
yes. i would ALWAYS let iTunes do the moving lest it loses track of where the files are stored.
follow the instructions in this link to move your iTunes library to an external HD. the article is for Mac. if your music is still on the windows machine, check this read for pointers: http://lifehacker.com/242468/geek-to-live--how-to-move-an-itunes-library-from-a- pc-to-mac-and-back.
also, when I've done that, and have everything on the external hard drive, I can go clean up all the music files still left on my computer.... then I press option and drag everything back to itunes? what will that do for me?
as i mentioned, this will make iTunes reference the path to the original location (your external HD) but will not copy the files physically.
and how will I be able to work with my music and update it after that?
you mount the external HD before launching iTunes. now you can do whatever as if the files where on your startup disk.

  • Searching for literal strings in iTunes

Is this possible? Using double quotations marks will not do the trick and it is important for me to search for a literal string. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

Are you sure??? If I put, for example "To Party" in the search box for my music library it brings back 41 tracks. If I use the little drop down arrow to match only on Song name it drops down to 15, but if I create a smart playlist with the rule *Name contains To Party* it matches just 7. Seems like a "literal" pattern match to me.
Anyway, for inspiration on writing AppleScripts look no further than http://dougscripts.com/itunes/ - not having a Mac I write mine in VBScript and the two systems are very different so I can't really offer any pointers.

  • Why cant i search for artists in my itunes search area?

why cant i search for music/artists in my itunes search area when i'm logged on to itunes?

I should be more specific, I live in the USA, Type Disney into the search and then go to movies, you will see a list of Disney movies.
BUT that is not all the Disney films on Itunes.
The Majority of Disney films that are available on Itunes do not show up when searching the word Disney.
You have to look them up individualy by name. For Example: Darby O'Gill and the little People, Pocahantas 2, Atlantis: Milo's return, Ducktales the Movie, The Sword in the Stone, The Rescuers Down Under.
All of these and MANY more do not come up when you search for Disney or Disney movies.
    Why?

  • Can you search for videos in the iTunes store?

When I go to the music videos section of the iTunes store, it looks like I can only search through a long list. Is there any way to search for a specific music video in the iTunes Store?

    Hi and welcome.....
Select iTunes music store on the left side of the iTunes window. You will see a search field.
Type in the name of the music video there, then press Return or Enter on your keyboard.
