Searching for KB's directly with a URL containing the TID.

I have an application that gives me the TID of a support bulletin. I'd like a way to get a link directly to the bulletin on Novell's site.
For instance I see a Bulletin for apache2 for SLES 11 SP1 and it covers:
CVE-2011-3192,CVE-2011-3348,CVE-2011-3368
I'd like a way to search automatically by TID in a URL. My provider does not always provide the support ID for the bulletin, but the TID is always there.
I do notice if I goto:
NOVELL: Support
and search for the TID I get hits for the bulletin I'm looking for. Is there a way for me to use the URL itself with my search criteria in it?
So I could add something like:
274b1ea87316767c995b46d30d848997
To the URL in some particular string format?
Other search criteria may help as well if you cannot with the TID. I typically have a CVE, or bugzilla number too. The TID seems to be the most consistent though.

Is that what you're looking for? The actual URL to the TID directly is very long and complicated so the shortened search string above is generally used.

Thanks for the reply. I tried playing with detaching the audio in iMovie, but with 20+ hours of video to correct, it would take too long. After 28 hours, Corel/Roxio tech support replied that it is a known bitrate mismatch problem and they have no real fix. I strongly suggest not to buy this product.

Search is showing no results with HTTPS URL

Hi All,
A power user wanted to have https entry in one of the content sources and asked us to remove the http entry for the web application. After that I have performed the incremental search.
However, the search on the https on the web site started showing NO results. We have configure search settings on the site as follows:
After that search is able to search but it search for other content sources. In the search service application we have several web applications and we want to scope to that specific web application and users should perform search only in that web application
scope. How could I scope search to a specific web application?
Our document library search is also retuning with no results.
Any suggestion to resolve the issue will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sandy,
I think you have to edit the publick urls, and switch the default zone and intranet zone URLs, set the https as default zone public URL, then start a full crawl in a proper time if it impacts the user on production server, you may also test in a test
environment firstly.

With 33.0, why can't I directly enter a URL in the Address Box ?

Up to 32.0.3 (I'm scrupulous about explicitly downloading Firefox updates manually), all was more or less okay. I first encountered the issue w/ my primary PC under Windows 7, when last week I noticed that I couldn't type an URL into the box and go directly to that site. Now, I've performed the updates on three other PCs and with two of them I had the presence of mind to test this issue. On a Lubuntu (Linux) PC and another Windows 7 box, the Address box becomes inert **after** the 33.0 update and NO OTHER CHANGES (to Adobe Flash, Firefox settings, whatever.)
In order to manually enter an URL, one must type the address into the Run box which works on both environments. If the current tab is blank, then Firefox will use that. Otherwise, Firefox will open a new tab to visit the site. This behavior has been confirmed on both platforms.

I feel like such a schmuck for not thinking of this (ie. an addon conflict), but I've been using Firefox for '''SO''' long with this suite of extensions, it simply didn't dawn me. Anyway, the culprit was "Tab Utilities Phoenix", which I will report to the developer, so he can deal with this. Thanx again....

i want to search for the author of the book "the beard" using for example the V.I Get first match of labview to access the the node with value "the beard" and then use Get next sibling V.I and Get node text content to get get the author of this book..so my question is how do i write the xpath expression for Get first match so as to access the node with bookname "the beard" instantyly? am trying to minimise the use of loops because they increase the time duration,..thank you (NB:i dont want to use Get all Matched V.I because it obliges me to use a loop in order to access the name derrick and this increases the time duration for my v.i)

Since it's all text, why not use a real quick Match Pattern (or Regular Expression, but you don't need that much power here), see attached.

How do I search for a folder with Spotlight, not a file? Spotlight is a great tool for finding a file, but often I just want to locat a folder.
When I find a file, how to I see the path to this file?
These are probably obvious question for longtime Mac users, but I come from the Windows world.

Activate the Finder's window. Put the folder name in the search field in the Finder's toolbar. Enter COMMAND-F which should change the Finder's window and give a toolbar above the column headers:

Searching for and deleting songs with explicit lyrics

Hello. Over the years my song library has grown a bunch, but my music preferences have changed. I no longer wish to suddenly hear a song throwing the F-bomb around. Since I listen on my iPhone and cannot delete the song immediately, I need to know if there is a way to search for songs in iTunes for explicit lyrics so that I can delete them from my library. Is there a way?

Thre is not a way to do it directly that I am aware of but you can go down your song list and just look for the red explicit label and delete it that way.

Search for string and replace with frame break

Hello there,
We're using an InDesign CS6 Server for creating print data. The problem relates to our documents that consist of several connected text frames.
Situation:
The texts are exported from our database into InDesign via xml and so some automated editing in javascript. These texts contaion several paragraphs with headlines. Sometimes after the import the layout just looks bad, because the first textfield contains the fist paragraph and the headline of the second paragraph including some lines of text. Sometimes this behaviour is desired and sometimes not.
Workaroud:
We definde the string #*# to be our placeholder for line breaks. During the creation of the xml this string gets replaced by unicode for the hard line break (
).
Desired Solution:
This workaround has some disadvantages and we want our placeholder string to be translated to a frame break.
Until now I have neither found any definition for the unicode translation of the frame break nor a script based solution that just replaces this string with a frame break. any help is appreciated.

Instend of define string add attribute in xml or DB
e.g attribute name frame break="frame break"
after that through find the attribute get the insertion ponint and apply "SpecialCharacters.FRAME_BREAK"

Searching for an entry in a file that contains 2 words or more...

I created a Binary Search Tree that would hold a list of words located in a .txt file. So, basically, the objective of the program is to search through a typed up document for the words in the search tree, and if the word is found, return it to the user to see.
I have that part working, but what I'm having trouble with is one of the entries in the file. The entry is "data structure." All the other entries are 1 word, like queue, depth-first, etc...but this one is 2 words. I'm having trouble making it so that the search will detect the 2-word entry, "data structure." How do I go about searching for entries that are 2 or more words in length?
I have been struggling with this for some time, and I don't know if it's just me, but I'd really like to get this done since this is the only thing I'm having trouble with right now. I thought I could figure this out, but I'm just putting too much time into it, and I need to submit this tomorrow.
Any help would really be appreciated! :)

Yea, I was thinking of doing that myself. Turning the two words into one word, so it'll end up like, "datastructure," but how do I do that? Would I use the substring method? Or is there something else that I can use to get rid of whitespace. I'll look that up now on google or something, but in the meantime, if anyone can help me out with this, it would be great.

If Firefox is opened with a URL parameter, the parameter persists through attempts to clear history.

When Firefox is opened with a URL, the URL is a parameter in Firefox's command line and could present a potential privacy leak as it is not cleared by Clear Recent History.

In addition, right click on Firefox's launch icon, click "Properties", note the third line; the "COMMAND" entry which most likely reads "Firefox -u". The "-u" is what Anonymous is referring to as a parameter. It (-u) represents an instruction to Firefox to replace your destination URL with another destination that is not intended.
This may point to a virus in an applet, could be a porn site, whatever.
If a pop-up box asks for permission to download a file, DO NOT CLICK OK.
Click "Cancel".
I did a cold boot out of instinct next, then get rid of that "-u". I cannot speak for the clear history but it sounds like a good idea, also. I made sure I had a BACKUP of my bookmarks as a precaution, then did what Anonymous suggested.
Another thought I only have one icon, so cannot vouch for it but you may need to remove the "-u" on each launch Firefox you have.
Also, do not be as blasé as I was, if the URL looks wrong, it probably is wrong. Go browse somewhere else.

Is Rh the Best App for Managing 41 manuals, with many pages being the same?

I'd like to automate a labor intensive task that I will soon be assuming. We have 41 install manuals for an automotive accessory that fits 41 different models of vehicles. The current manual is 28 pages with at least 24 pages being identical. The documents are done in Word, along many pictures and drawings. When the document is finished, it is converted to a PDF and sent with the item. The pdf is also made available online for folks who may need the electronic version. When we change one page that is common to all, we have to manually update each Word file and then convert it. As you can imagine, the manuals don't get updated and corrected as often as they should
Since most of the pages are the same, I would like software that can manage changes to these pages and automatically update all manuals. For example, if a change is necessary on page 6 and 34 manuals use this page, I simply change one page and the software "exports" this new page to all affected manuals.
1) Would Rh do this?
2) Would it be the best choice for this task?
3) If Rh is the best choice for this, what is the best approach for beginning this task? Get a book and read or just jump in?
4) I came across a book written by a firm called GooberGuides, is this a good resource? Do you recommend a better one?
5) Does my project require a special technique when setting it up in an app like Rh or is the process fairly intuitive? I don't want to waste time by implementing this incorrectly, only to start over again when I realize there was a better way.
I would be very grateful for any guidance you could provide.

I don't think your questions were answered, except for the tool one, which is not the most important one. I would reverse your questions:
Does my project require a special technique? Yes! Single sourcing, which is a methodology for developing modular, reusable information, not a tool. Before you even approach a tool, you must analyze your content, define standards for it, define information types (Google for DITA), and convert it from linear (as your Word documents are) to modular.

iPhone 5 was so intuitive before the update. Editing photos has changed for the worst-any word of a fix for editing photos for wallpaper? Not a work around, a fix. If I wanted this kind of photo editing I'd still be using my droid x.

do you know how to re-locate files to an existing library?
All of a sudden, about 2/3 of my songs (over 6,000) will not play and a box comes up saying "The song 'x' could not be used because the original file cannot be found. Would you like to locate it?"
I went to Edit > Preferences > Advanced and have the correct (fixed) external drive letter selected for the folder location. and the files haven't moved, but iTunes isn't finding them. Restarted the computer making sure the drive was on.
I'd like to not lose all the ratings I've worked on. Hoping you or someone has a solution!!
