I would suggest read cathy sierra book and sun documentation whenver your get some doubt and practice sample tests. that would make you score 80-90%. if you are already working on java you don't have to go to any coaching. If you are not working on java... it is upto you.. hahha :)

Searching for oracle.dacf.* for Java-Development

Hello,
i have a lot of java-classes here which i want to improve. if it was compilerable it could be an application with a connection to an Oracle 8.1.7 Database.
The application of this source code is running actually, but i want to fix some problems which are in the used application.
I fixed them by adding and correcting code in the Java-Files. But if i want to compile them the compiler stops with the error, that he isn't able to find the oracle.oacf.-Packages. The problem is, that i have looked for them on my harddisk and the harddisk of the server, where the oracle-database is installed. But i can't find this package. where can i find it? I have already installed the newest Oracle JDeveloper, but it is not in that enviroment.
Can anyone help or provide this oacf-package as a zip-file to my e-mail-address?

Does anyone know what is the patch number for 10.1.0.5 Patch for Oracle Application Server 10g Release 1?
This is a Oracle Application Server and not Oracle Database server.
I tried searching on Metalink but not able to find it.

10.1.0.5 is not a version number for an OAS. It is only a version number for RDBMS.
If you are running OAS 10.1.2.x with the Identity Managmenet/SSO (OID Server), & elected to have it install the Metadata Repository database for you, this was a RDBMS release below 10.1.0.5. The OAS patch to 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3 required the RDMBS be updated to 10.1.0.5 first. This is the standard 10.1.0.5 update for your platform.

To find the OAS 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3 patch set, search for Oracle Fusion Middleware Server. Release 10.1.2.2 and 10.1.2.3. Look for the decriptions like "PLACEHOLDER BUG FOR AS/DS 10.1.2.3 PATCHSET RELEASE" OR "PLACEHOLDER BUG FOR AS/DS 10G R2 PATCH SET 2 10.1.2.2"
To find the RDBMS 10.1.0.5 patch, search for RDBMS Server, Release 10.1.0.5. Look for the Description containing something like "10.1.0.5 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER"
The patch number is different per platform, so I can't tell you the exact #s without more info (OS)

Pay for oracle courses on your own ?

i wanted to ask you if anyone of you would pay for oracle training courses (which are about ~ 2.400 € here for ~ 5 days) on your own if your current employer refuses to pay for them and you would like to improve your chances on the job market.

If you are about to implement a technology (something like Dataguard or RAC) that's new to you then your employer should be providing you with the opportunity to develop the skills you are going to need. Whether that is through a knowledge transfer from colleagues, self training (such as CBTs or books) or attending a training course really depends on the situation (time, budget, opportunity, etc). If your employer isn't willing to do anything then you aren't getting the support you need from them to do your job properly and you need to decide whether that means it's time to move on or not.
Equally, your employer is not obliged to help you to 'improve your chances on the job market'. I've worked with people before who have been entirely unable to comprehend why our employer wouldn't send them on a week-long training course for a technology we not only didn't use but which we would almost certainly never use.
As for your specific question - no, I can't say that I would pay for Oracle courses myself. For one thing, I can't afford it... but even if I could, I think that reading the manuals (and maybe a good book or two) whilst sitting at a test system is probably a better use of five days.
Don't get me wrong - I've been on plenty of Oracle courses and think they are great. If my employer wants to spend £2k then I won't say no... but if I were paying myself I'd find it hard to balance up the cost with what I get out of it.

When we talk about Oracle9i, we often mean the database version 9i.
Apparently you want to use Forms and Reports 9i, which included in the obsolete (and very unhappy) Application Server 9i. ... Or the also obsolete Application Server 10g Release 1 (aka App Server 9.0.4.
You are encouraged to look at Forms and Reports 10g (part of the improved Application Server 10g) which does connect to Oracle Database 9i as well as Oracle Database 10g. Look for App Server 10g Release 2, version 10.1.2.0.2 and 10.1.2.2)
