Searching for Projects in Finder

Is that possible to locate the projects that i created i Aperture in Finder or Find Any File?
That was possible in iPhoto.

No for Projects.
Yes, but with warnings, for files.
Aperture is an image management system.  It replaces the now outdated (and, imho, always hobbled) file management systems used for years to manage image files.  One of the central preceps of Aperture use is that once you commit an image file to Aperture, you must use Aperture to manage that file.  In other words, no making any changes in Finder.
The files you import become, in Aperture-speak, Masters of the Images you see in the Aperture Viewers and Browsers.  Every Image has a Master.  The Master is a file stored on one of your drives.  Referenced Masters are stored wherever you tell Aperture to put them.  They will show up in Finder.  You can also right-click an Image in Aperture and select "Show in Finder", which will open a Finder window.
Managed Masters are the default.  These are stored inside the Aperture Library.  The Library is a Finder Package.  It shows in Finder as a single file with the extension "aplibrary".  The contents of Finder Packages do not show in Finder unless you tell Finder to show them to you.  You do this by right-clicking a Package, and selecting "Show contents".
Why are you trying to use Finder to locate Masters and Projects?  Aperture excels at Image (and Project) management.

  • Summary Published to Search for Projects?

Is it possible to have the "Summary Published to Search" checkbox for Project documents?  I know this exists in Master Agreements.  I am wondering if this field can be configured on a Project and behave in the same manner as it does with MAs.  I know how I can get the field and checkbox itself on the Project Header, but what I am not sure on, or if it is even possible, is to get it to behave in the same manner.  The ultimate goal being able to have a Project that cannot be seen when searching via All Projects query.  Any guidance would be much appreciated!  Thank you!

    Hello Nicholas,
    Please find below query,
    SELECT <%RESULTS%> FROM <%SCHEMA%>.FCI_PRO_PROJECTS T1 LEFT OUTER JOIN <%SCHEMA%>.FCI_MAS_VALUE_LIST_VALUE T2 ON (T1.STATUS_OBJECT_ID = T2.OBJECTID)
    LEFT OUTER JOIN  <%SCHEMA%>.FCI_MAS_INTERNAL_CAT T3 ON T1.INTERNAL_CAT_OBJECT_ID = T3.OBJECTID LEFT OUTER JOIN  <%EXT_TABLE(projects.projects)%> T10
    ON T10.PARENT_OBJECT_ID = T1.OBJECTID <%DYN_JOIN%>
    WHERE T1.IS_TEMPLATE=0 AND T1.CONTEXTID=<%CONTEXT(projects.projects)%>  AND T10.BUYER_SEARCHABLE_PROJECT=0
    <%AND_OP("T1.INACTIVE",<%?(T1.INACTIVE)%>)%>
    <%DYN_FILTER%>
    <%AND_OP("UPPER(T1.UNIQUE_DOC_NAME)",<%?(T1.UNIQUE_DOC_NAME)%>)%>
    <%AND_OP("UPPER(T1.DISPLAY_NAME)",<%?(T1.DISPLAY_NAME)%>)%>
    <%AND_OP("UPPER(T1.DOC_OWNER_USER_OBJECT_NAME)",<%?(T1.DOC_OWNER_USER_OBJECT_NAME)%>)%>
    <%AND_OP("T1.STATUS_OBJECT_ID",<%?(T1.STATUS_OBJECT_ID)%>)%>
    <%ORDERBY%>
In the above query, I have placed a condition T10.BUYER_SEARCHABLE_PROJECT=0 which will retrict all the projects in which the created checkbox field is checked.

  • How do I erase history of file use in "search for" sidebar in finder window

I just upgraded to Leopard and noticed that the "search for" sidebar in the finder window reveals every file I've ever opened in the past. I know I can turn it off in the finder preferences but I prefer being able to erase the history. I can't find an option to erase my file use history in the system or finder preferences. What can I do? I'm a stickler for privacy and don't like to keep this info on my computer no matter how innocuous or inoffensive the files might be. (Please spare me the inevitable jokes about hiding dirty pictures or videos... It's not that.)
    Thanks

I am not sure there is any point because anyone can do a search in the finder for everything you have opened in the last whatever time period.

  • Missing "search for today" in finder 10.9.4

Hi, I just installed the new IOS 10.9.4. and it updated finder. I am missing the "search for" today, yesterday options. How can I get these back?

They appear to have been deleted in Mavericks.

  • What is the best way to search for tags in Finder?

There are a lot of articles out there written about Tags in Mavs. All of them cover how to apply tags, but there is hardly anything written about searching and finding files.
Now, does anyone here actually use tags in Finder? How do you search for them? Did anyone ditch folders or stytematic file-naming?

I am currently using and experimenting with Tags. Searching, finding, and managing your tags is pretty straight forward. On the far left side of any Finder window, you have a selected number of Tags predetermined and an option for "all tags." If you click on this link, it will take you to a menu where ALL tags in use are listed. Change the name and color for them just as you would any other file name (I have a usb mouse, so it's a right click for me).
If you used the "labels" feature (color-coding documents and folders), you have used tags; its the same idea, but now you define a word as what you are sorting by.
To search for a tag, I either use the in-Finder search or Spotlight (which may be the same, but I am not sure--I am also a newer Mac convert and am still learning the ropes). I have started to organize my schoolwork solely by tagging it, but I have run into issues where I have "Exam 01" for one class and need to make a second "Exam 01" file for another class (I created different tags for each class).
I will say that, since I started to only use the minimum amount of folders, I have noticed somewhat significant speed improvements in startup times and normal use. However, this coincided with the release of Mavericks so I do not know truly whether the folders help or not.
One of the things I both love and hate about tags is that you can search across multiple folders (or drives in my case) for documents matching the tag in question. When I download classwork from our school's website, I tag with the appropriate class name, and then move to external hard drive (yeah, I am paranoid). Unfortunately, if I then don't delete the copy inside the "downloads" folder, the document will show up if I try to list all of my "Class" tags.
    Best of luck,
    ~Zach

  • Messages - Searching for terms and finding multiple matches

In Messages, if I search for a term, and the term is matched multiple times within a conversation, how do I look at earlier matches? Right now it will only show me the most recent.

    HI,
What I would like the Search to do is actually search all the chat I have ever had (I have saved one back to 2004 from iChat) so I could look for things people have sent me.
What I find is it will only search Open Chats.
Currently a Buddy I spoke to today show "history" only back as far as the Mavericks Update day due to the different places Mavericks keeps the Archived/Saved chats compared to Mountain Lion/Message 7.x.x. and iChat.
The particular Buddy does send my name on different days so I searched for that.
It tells me that it can find 6 instances.
It indicates one of these the first time you do it with a fresh word in the Search and only shows me the part of the Chat that occurred today.
As far as I can  tell the highlighted IM (it was over the AIM service) is the last one with the occurring word in.
You now have to swap to the Edit Menu > Find > Find Next  Apple/CMD ( or ⌘) + G
It seems this then work backwards in time.

  • Search for Blank or find metadata that is empty

    Hello super-intellegent people,
How do I search for all assets that have no keywords?
    Thanks,
    Jacob

Unfortunately you can't from the interface. (Send feedback to Apple if you want to have your voice heard.)
You'd have to script a custom solution to extract all the assets and test for empty keywords fields.

  • Searching for files in Finder

I'm a little confused with how the Finder search works. It doesn't seem to find many files which exist on the hard drive. For example, take the widgets folder that resides in Macintosh HD>Library. The name of the file is simply "Widgets", but typing this into the Finder search yields no results...why?

You can also set up a search with system files included, and then save that as a saved search.
However, when you select it from the sidebar, it still selects This Mac, so you have to then select your saved search name. You can enter criteria in the search field. I think it's still easier just to pick System files included in the search (once you've put it in the menu).

  • Searching for Project file through Sequence name

I have forgotten the title of the project, but know the names of the sequences within the project.  How can I search by the sequence name to locate the project?  I have Windows 7 and the project is either in Premiere Pro 5.5 or 6.0.  Thank you very much!

If you look in a .proprj file from CS6 and before you will see it is just XML. Simply formatted text. On a PC, use Wordpad to open a copy of a project and you will see what I mean. Not Notepad because it doesn't understand XML, but Wordpad works OK. Just search a file you know has a sequence you know the name of.
So, if you know the name of the sequence, yes, it is in plain text that can be searched. The program I suggested can find it. The reason I use that program is that it allows me to change a menu or link on every web page on my site all at once.

  • Quick Question on Searching for Project Files

I was wondering if anyone knew of the best way to find FCP project files.
I have many computers at work that are all networked together, as well as a few LaCies, and I'm thinking I may have some wayward FCP projects floating around somewhere. I also work with youth, as assistant editors, who have a tendency to sometimes move things around. As you can see below I have 10.3.9, so when I do a 'find' I can't specify FCP projects because they have no extension (?). Anyone have any tips?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ariel
I'm completely baffled.I'm using FCP5. I can only assume that my "Find method" does not work with version FCP4.5HD and 10.3.9.
I've double checked my Project Files, and the files in my AutoSave Vault. None have the extension .fcp
But when I use Find: Name>Contains> .fcp they all show up (hundreds of them from 6 projects done over the past few weeks). Wish I could send you a screen snap.
    Regards. Robert
P.S. Sorry I couldn't get back to you earlier - I had to go out most of the day.

  • I lost my iPhone 5 and when I use my ipad mini to search for it, it finds my mini but not my phone?

I lost my iPhone 5 and use the app find my phone using my mini pad, the pad finds itself but not the iPhone

I don't remember if I set the phone up or not, I guess I'm was under the impression that with iOS 7 the phone had a preset installed to find my phone? I'm curious whether apple has the technology to aid me in finding the phone?

  • How do I put a "close file" icon in the toolbar? I've searched for an hour to find the answer with no luck?

How do I put a "close file" icon in the toolbar? There's an "open file" icon by default, but I cannot -- in spite of searching for an hour--find a way to put a "close file" icon in there?

  • I try to open iPhoto and it asks what library file I want to use. I have Find Any File application that someone once gave me the "magic" file to search for, but I do not remember the file

I had this problem before and someone gave me a "magic" filename to search for using my Find Any File application, but I cannot remember the file name.  Is it iPhoto6-something?

    Hello Joel,
Don't know how to determine my OS
To determine your OS click on the apple in the upper left corner of your screen and click "About this Mac". The "About" panel will tell you all about your Mac.
On my mac (OS 10.7.3) I can search for iPhoto Libraries like this:
Select my Home Folder in the Finder
Type in ⌘-F to activate a search
Set the "Search" to "This Mac"
Set the "Kind" selector to "Other" and enter "iPhoto Library" into the search field.
This should reveal all iPhoto Libraries on your Mac.
With "Find any File" you could search for the ".iPhoto"-extension.

  • How to search for a BADI in a transaction

    Hi All,
Please let me know the steps to find a BADI for a transaction.
    Thanks,
    Jaffer Ali.S

    check this.
u can find BADI's in different ways...
1>First go to any transaction->iN THE menu bar SYSTEM->STATUS->Get the program name ->double click->u will go to the program attached to the tcode. Now search term will be CALL CL_EXITHANDLER.Now u will get list of BADI'S available..
2>Goto SE24->Give class name as CL_EXITHANDLER->Display->double click on get_instance mathod->Now u will go inside the method->Now put break point on the cl_exithandler.Now go to any transaction code and pass dat..U will see that it will be stopped on the break point which u set on the cl_exithandler...In the exit name u can find list of badi's attached to the tcode..
There are multiple ways of searching for BADI.
    • Finding BADI Using CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE
    • Finding BADI Using SQL Trace (TCODE-ST05).
    • Finding BADI Using Repository Information System (TCODE- SE84).
    1. Go to the Transaction, for which we want to find the BADI, take the example of Transaction VD02. Click on System->Status. Double click on the program name. Once inside the program search for ‘CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE’.
Make sure the radio button “In main program” is checked. A list of all the programs with call to the BADI’s will be listed.
The export parameter ‘EXIT_NAME’ for the method GET_INSTANCE of class CL_EXITHANDLER will have the user exit assigned to it. The changing parameter ‘INSTANCE’ will have the interface assigned to it. Double click on the method to enter the source code.Definition of Instance would give you the Interface name.
    2. Start transaction ST05 (Performance Analysis).
