Searching for sound card, which decodes Dolby Digital from S/PDIF-IN

As I wrote in the topic headline, I'm currently searching for a sound card, which decodes Dolby Digital from the S/PDIF input.
I.e. a DolbyDigital signal comes from an external device (here Set-Top-Box/Media-Recei'ver) and the sound card should send the signal to my analogue speakers.
Currently I have a Creative X-Fi ExtremeMusic, this card does not support this.
And yes, I read the thread "Digital Connection...".

HRe: Searching for sound card, which decodes Dolby Digital from S/PDIF-INE I'm still doing some research on this topic, although I'm already searching for 2 years now with no real solution. Several people say, that I can do that, what I described in the first posting, by using an I/O console from Creative. But Creative (support) says, it is impossible at all, they don't have any products, which can do this.
Can anyone tell me, whether it's possible or not? Important fact: I use Windows XP, not Vista. And I don't want to use modded drivers. I want to use the latest official ones.
The new soundcard "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Champion Series" has an I/O dri've. If I have this, can I decode DolbyDigital from S/PDIF-IN, if I plug the optical cable into the soundcard? Because this console seems to have no optical input.

I bought SB X-Fi Extreme Audio PCIE. I know it'sdoesn't have?any hardware supported features, but maybe there is some?software way to decode Dolby Digital send throught optical cable to SB input ?

I don't think the Audigy 2 NX has decoding hardware onboard, it uses a driver based decoder therfore all decoding is done by the computer. The Extigy is different, it has and actual onboard decoder so it can be used as a stand-alone Dolby Digital decoder, not requiring a computer to operate. I'm not sure whether the NX can decode AC3 from an external source or if it is limited to decoding signals originating from the computer (i.e DVD or AC3 file).

TS3518 Dolby digital from Apple TV

This used to work fine before the last update. What did apple do for this not to work. I have HDMI out of my Apple TV into my surround sound receiver which decodes dolby digital. I have to turn off dolby digital to get audio. the whole point of using a surround recieve is to use dolby surround. There is no point of renting movies from Apple TV wiothout surround sound capabilities. Why is this not working?

My experience is the same. Loss of Dolby Digital 5.1 output. Amplifier (Yamaha) indicating "PCM" signal, instead of DD. So far, no acknowledgment of the issue from Apple.

I can't have de digital sound of my soundcard, beacause my speaker systems don?t have that type of cable (for digital sound, my system have a coaxial and optical.

There's a digital output on the card itself. 'tis the farthest one from the motherboard I beli've.
What you erally need is a cable like t his one:

Plug the mini-plug end into the soundcard and one of the outputs ( the left channel I believe ) will have the digital output.
You will only get surround sound via the decoder if when playing back pre-encoded DD/DTS content like DVDs. Games and stuff will playback in stereo when connected digitally as SPDIF only supports compressed multi-channel bitstreams or uncompressed 2 channel audio. No Creative card at present offers real time DD/DTS encoding ( there're other cards which do which support Dolby Digital Li've! or DTS Connect. ) Creative have a DTS encoder called the DTS-60 which can take analogue signals from the soundcard ( stereo mini-plug x 3 ) and encode it to DTS for output via a coaxial or optical SPDIF in real time. I've never used the DTS-60 and can't comment on how good it is. Also note that the Audigy 2 ZS has weak bass redirection if using the DTS-60 and the 60 lacks bass redirection of its own so you could very well end up with a 'bass-less' signal if you're connecting to small speakers, unless your decoder has volume controls for the subwoofer.Message Edited by nvidiot on 09-27-2006 0:32 PM

¿Does Audigy 2 NX decode Dolby Digital 5.

I've purchased an Audigy 2 NX to connect my xbox 360 via optical sound wire and get Dolby Digital 5..
The problem starts here, i've connected the console to optical In (in the sound card) and i've connected the 5. via standart jacks (the 3 typical jacks), if i set Dolby Digital 5. mode on the xbox 360 i don't get any sound, but if i set it to Stereo Digital it sounds but only in 2. mode (front speakers).
The dolby digital led in the sound card never works, it's always off, it suposes to be on when it detects a Dolby Digital Input (like the 360 one's) but it always remains off.
How can i decode Dolby Digital 5. via optical in? In the sound card spec's says that this card is able to Decode DD 5. and 7., but it seems to be a lie!.

this soundcard does not decode from external source...so it won't work this way.

Nope. The original EMU0K chip always had resampling enabled on S/PDIF input so that if there was any clock drift at all bits could change and damage the AC3 encoding. The EMU0K2 (Audigy) chip was changed to somehow allow bypassing the core clock so the S/PDIF sample values could get into memory without alteration.

Decoding Dolby Digital via Optical

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to decode the digital signal from my satellite receiver via the optical in port on my Audigy Platinum? I hooked it up and all I got was basic surround, and yes, I was watching a movie on the receiver that was being broadcast in dolby digital.

What do you mean "Basic Surround"?
As far as I know, it is possible with the Platinium dri'ves. Provided your receiver is sending RAW Un-decoded Dolby Digital signal to the dri've.
If it is already decoded, the signal being sent through the optical cable will only be received as Stereo..if I'm not mistaken.
Someone else with hands-on experience will have to give you a better confirmation, as I dont have a Platinium dri've before. But I know its possible.

The error on the screenshot that you posted usually happens if the version of the audio driver and the dolby digital driver are different. Both of them must use the same driver in order for them to work correctly.
Try to:
1. Press the Windows key‌ +R, type appwiz.cpl.msc and press Enter. On the list of installed programs, remove anything that relates toRealtek Audio Driver and Dolby (reboot if necessary).
2. Delete the C:\Drivers folder Install this audio driver (windows 8 version).
Audio Driver (Conexant, Realtek) for 64-bit Windows
3. Open Device Manager > Sound, video, and game controllers and check if the High Definition Audio becomes Realtek High Definition Audio or Conexant High Definition Audio (this indicates that the sound driver is installed properly).
When the audio driver is properly installed, install the DolbyAdvancedAudio and the DolbyHomeTheater from the following path:
For Realtek:
C:\Drivers\Audio\Realtek\6.0.1.6957\PCEE4
For Conexant:
C:\Drivers\Audio\Conexant\8.64.49.0\DolbyGUI

How to get Dolby Digital from ATV2 and iTunes Movies??

I have an ATV2 hooked up to my Denon 789 AVR via optical cable, and the HDMI hooked directy to my HTDV. My Denon is receiving the signal apparently as a PCM and thus, only receiving 2 channel. When I stream an iTunes movie from my ATV2, I only get Dolby Pro Logic II, and not Dolby Digital. When I go into the ATV2 settings and under Audio and Video set Dolby Digital from "Auto" to "On", I don't get any sound on my Denon 1910. Any idea what's going on?

I extract the DATA from R/3 into BI 7.0 DSO where I am mapping the GL Accounts with the FS Item. In the Transformation i have return a routine on the FS Item InfObject . I am checking the Gl code into Z table for the FS Item .
I capture the FS item from the Z table then update this FS item to Infobject FS item.
Now i need to stop the Data upload if i do not find the GL code in the Z table, and generate report for all GL code for which the FS item is not maintained in the Z table.
Please suggest.

Hi.
Add a field that you will use to identify if the GL account of the record was found in the Z table or not. Fx, create ZFOUND with length 1 and no text.
In your routine, when you do the lookup, populate ZFOUND with X when you found a match (sy-subrc = 0) and leave it blank if you don't find a match. Now create a report filtering on ZFOUND = <blank> and output the GL accounts. Those will be the ones not existing in the Z table, but coming in from your transactions.

Any cards support simultaneous dolby digital live and analog 2 channel output?

I am searching for a sound card that can output both dolby digital li've and 2-channel analog at the same time. I'm not sure if any of the Creative Labs sound cards can do this.
My Denon receiver outputs 5. in my main home theater room, but outputs only 2 channels to a separate room. I want to be able to play music in both rooms simultaneously. Unfortunately, the digital signal (which feeds the theater) is not converted to analog internally within the Denon receiver to output to the other room. The other room must receive an analog signal.
That is why I am looking for a sound card that can output both at the same time.
Does such a beast exist?

My computer updated to Widnows 8.1, now my sound blaster does not work. Everything else works (DVD, CD, Speakers, etc.) but I have no sound.
I'm not a tech person, a PC user and depend on my surround sound system.
I'd appreciate any help possible.

Decoding Dolby Digital not available in Platinum

It's as simple as it gets, clean windows SP2 instalation with security updates.
There's no Decoder Tab in audio console and i don't get any sound in spdif on powerDVD when there's the dolby digital bitstream out logo. Anything that isn't dolby digital does play sound.
This is PLATINUM FCS (as in EXPENSIVE CARD THAT SHOULD HAVE BUILTIN DECODER like the original platinum), i got the FCS version after my original regular platinum broke down after 3 months.. and it had built-in decoding.. you're not going to tell me that this MORE expensi've (not much tho) card doesn't have. :|

Well, checked the features in the product page... it seems it doesn't.. So i'll give this post an oportunity to let it all out.
How the heck does my bulk audigy 4 that costs about 7 to 8 times less has that feature and also how the previous platinum had the feature and this one doesn't?
Ok, so creative added the x-ram, like many games take advantage of that and like everyone has speakers to take advantage of that. I guess it's resources and marketing all the way.
Bottom line, considering the sound quality of the cards and features i wouldn't call them a rip off but some stuff really messes with regular clients.
I guess creative not having a serious competitor in the regular consumer market make's they more relaxed a bit. (But i may be wrong since im not workin for creative or inside of it to see how they work. I admit that possibility.)

exactly. But dolby digital is just a compression format just as your common mp3.
So it doesn't means you won't be able to have surround sound.
Dolby Digital sound output for PC games is just a flashy marketing feature which doesn't bring something best (it's even the contrary), except a one cable connection.
