Searching in Calendar

If I am looking for a calendar entry I've made on my iPhone but can't remember where it is (which day), how does one search within this function? There is no "search" mechanism that I can find. There must be an easier way to locate rather than scrolling through every entry on your calendar. Did Apple provide a "go to" type feature? Thank you.

No, there is no search function in the iPhone calendar.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.
In the meantime (i.e. until Apple implements it on the iPhone) you can search for your missing event in iCal on your computer (there's a search box at the bottom of the iCal window).

  • Help me to search on calendar for more than one year

I desparately need to be able to search on calendar for more than one year., which was taken away on the new operating system.  I have kept personal memories of my husband on there in the notes sections on days when we did things. ( I have also kept all kinds of personal notes, like doctor records or conversations, in the notes of events/dates.) it is a huge loss for me not to be able to search my calendar for more than one year. Is there any way I can do this?

  • When searching the calendar in list view, appointments erlier than a few years could not be found after search. en appointment from 1974 could not be found although it appears in the list.

When searching the calendar in list view, en appointmet erlier than a few years could not be find although the appointmet is listed in the List wiew ???,
An appointment from 1974 could not be found, in SEARCH MODE, although it appears in the calendar.

Pardon me for a moment while I (politely) rant in your general direction...
This type of response is not just unhelpful—it is the antithesis of helpful.
This is a support forum. Its purpose is helping to resolve people's problems. Sometimes those problems are going to require long explanations or lots of information. That either comes out in the original post or over the course of several back-and-forth replies; the former produces long posts but takes less time overall than the latter.
If you don't have the patience to read through a long post, then just move on. Posting a "too long, didn't read" comment adds nothing beneficial to anyone. All it does is reveal that the person who made that comment thinks it's important to tell everyone that their attention span is too short for anything longer than a tweet.
Yes, my post was long. Had you read it, you might have understood why it's so long. I'm trying to provide information that people searching these forums about this problem might find helpful. I did this because when I searched for info on this problem, I found lots of people with a similar problem, but no answers that went beyond "restore from backup". Since that advice wasn't the solution for me, I decided that more information might prompt someone with more knowledge and access than I have to investigate. Since you couldn't be bothered to read it, you clearly aren't the kind of person whose attention I was hoping to catch.
Certainly I could have made the post shorter, but I think putting it into a narrative like this makes it easier to follow and provides a context that a terse recitation of bare facts does not. If you disagree, that's your prerogative, but please don't waste everyone else's time by posting a comment just to say that you didn't read it.
I find it appalling that someone who's able to reach Level 6 on these support forums would post a "tldr" comment. That does not reflect positively on you or these forums.
    End of rant.

  • Searching iPhone calendar

Anyone know how to actually "search" the calendar on iPhone rather than simply scrolling through the list? I have mine synched with MS Outlook at my office and use this as a database as I have for several years on a Pocket PC. Only difference I've seen is that I can't seem to figure out how to look for something I've done in the past unless I know the specific date.

    Hey heartking,
The iPhone Calendar application does not have a search feature.
There is a Software Developer Kit being released, I don't know if this is something that could come from that. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/iphoneroadmap/
You can leave feedback on the iPhone and request features online here:

  • Can I search my calendar

It would be very useful to me if I can search my calendar so I can record when I last saw clients. I used to have an iPAQ and I could just put in the client's name and it would list all the entries relating to that name. Is this possible on the iTouch?

    The iPod users guid says:
    Spotlight searches the following:
    Contacts—All content
    Apps—Titles
Music—Names of songs, artists, and albums, and the titles of podcasts and videos
    Podcasts—Titles
    Videos—Titles
    Audiobooks—Titles
    Notes—Text of notes
Calendar (Events)—Event titles, invitees, locations, and notes
Mail—To, From, and Subject fields of all accounts (the text of messages isn’t searched)
    Reminders—Titles
    Messages—Names and text of messages
Search the web or Wikipedia from Spotlight: Scroll to the bottom of the search results, then tap Search Web or Search Wikipedia.
Open an app from Search: Enter all or part of the app name, then tap the app.
Choose which items are searched, and the order they’re searched: Go to Settings > General > Spotlight Search.

  • Search the calendar in treo 650?

is it possible to search the calendar in the treo 650?  i used to be able to do it on calendars in the clie.
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Verizon)

I'm speechless that this isn't possible. So if I know I have a meeting coming up in the next couple months, or need to remember if a colleague's birthday is approaching, I can't do it. Arrgh. Thanks for confirming this. Off to the feedback page I go.

  • I need to able to search for calendar entries that are over one year old.

I am an old Palm OS user and have used the calendar on it to track my clients visits/service for the last 15 years.  By searching the customers name on the palm, it would bring up every entry I had keyed in for them, so I could immediately know how old their equipment was, what service had been done, etc.  I also used the calendar to track my daily and weekly sales.  I was disappointed to find that the ipad does not search for any entries older than one year.  Is there something that can fix this or is there an app that could be used in the way the palm was?  Thanks

Well, that would depend on what calendar you are using.
If you are simply relying on the calendar on the device, well, that's not very smart.  Restoring from backup should put everything back.
If the calendar is synced with another service, like Google, iCloud, Exchange, do the entires still exist there?
If the calendar is synced with Outlook or iCal on your computer, do the entries still exist there?

  • Searching for calendar items older than a specific date with search-mailbox and AQS

I need to find the total size of all calendar items in a mailbox older than a specified date using PowerShell through the search-mailbox cmdlet's searchquery parameter.  My problem is that I cannot find a complete list of Calendar item properties to
use in search queries.  The AQS page doesn't have a complete list of properties for a Calendar object.
I'm using code from the ArchiveStatisticsPlanner.ps1 script as a base and the only date properties I know of are the sent and receive properties (see below.)  The basic start, end, date properties generate errors in the query.  How can I find all
Calendar items older than say, 1/1/2013?
    Sample:
    $MBXSearch=Search-Mailbox-Identity$MBX-SearchQuery"kind:calendar
    sent:<=$QueryDate OR kind:calendar received:<=$QueryDate"-EstimateResultOnly-DoNotIncludeArchive

huh, you a get response marked as answer that wasn't very helpful.
EDIT: and now I'm reported as abusive.  Please don't tell the truth on these forums, it seems to be frowned upon
    I did that.
If you're going to necro an answered thread and attempt to hijack it, you should have an actual answer that you feel is more relevant.
All you did was complain and add zero useful information, thus earning an 'offtopic/irrelevant' notation.

A number of the searches are controlled by the calendar ics.conf file. So try matching the directory access entry which relates to your search to the appropriate string in ics.conf and that should provide a guide as to what needs to be changed.

  • Wish list: search of calendar & contacts, and scrolling info in itunes

There are two things that really bug me with my first generation iPod Touch, and I'm hoping someone can tell me if Apple has addressed either of these issues or plans to address them.
    1. I often have a need to search for some text in the Calendar and Contacts application. I have an iMac and use this feature all the time, searching for the date of a particular event or something in the Notes field (eg., "cellist") of a Contact. Why isn't this important feature available with the Touch?
    2. Many of the pieces I have in iTunes begin with the same name (eg., "Mendelssohn: String Quartet No..."), and because the title doesn't scroll on the Touch, I often can't tell which piece I'm hearing (eg., is it Quartet No. 1 or 12?), or if that much is displayed, then definitely what movement of the piece it is. My old ipod has this information scroll so that I can see the whole title (other fields, like the Artist field, scroll too). For some reason this feature went away with the Touch, and I really miss it and often need it.
Do you know if this is fixed with the 2nd generation of the Touch, or if Apple plans to address it?

Neither points you mentioned are currently a feature on the 2G touch. I would love to see both added. The only way to let apple know is to send feedback to:

  • Searching in Calendar for 2week+ appointments

Hi guys Hope u can help. I've set up numerous appointments on my calendar, some going 3-4 months ahead of the current date, others just two to three weeks down the line. I often want to check when an appointment was scheduled and want to search for it. In the absence of a search function directly in calendar, the only alternative I've found is the Blackberry search tool. When using this however, it only finds appointments upcoming in the week (1 week from today) and not appointments further than a week away. Hope anyone can help. Much appreciated

I have a service business and have to continually reference client info and service data often going back past 1 year and a lot of it's in the calendar. The reason I have apple devices is because they sync info. OS X on the desktop does this effortlessly, why not ios 6? Wondering if there's an app that can work with ios calendar to search past 1 year. This lack of search capability is reallly limiting!

  • Searching in calendars - won't find events #Driving me mad!!

    Hi!
When I search for certain events in my iphone calendar it is unable to find them! why is this? This is so disruptive to my business! I have lost a lot of work over this.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I have hijacked another thread but my problem seemed so similar......
Anyway, changing the seach criteria such as events, titles etc has no effect.
What is strange is that the more info put into the search box the greater the spread of possibles.
For instance 'whidbourne' will give a single match. 'Whidbourne close' will include all those entries with close in the title. 3 whidbourne close will include all those with 3 and so on. These hits are listed by date so the most accurate match '3 Whidbourne Close' is lost in a huge list.
Spotlight works the other way. The more info in the seach box the less the matches as one would expect.
Is this normal? If so Is it just me that finds it strange?
OK, If I remember to omit numbers and common words such as Mr, road, close etc it will be workable ...... but why?
Our emac runs Panther with ical synced via .mac with the G5 imac that behaves (to me) strangely and a search in ical will behave as you expect:
'3'.. gives all the possible matches with 3 in them....by the time 3 Whid is typed in the box there is only one match.
