Searching in Mail.app: results lost after a few seconds

Mail.app  (Version 7.3 (1878.2))
Anyone finding that sometimes searching in Mail.app loses the results after a few seconds?
Suppose I'm in my Inbox and I want to search. I type in a search term, the results will appear as expected, but then after a few seconds – without doing anything – the search results are replaced by my Inbox again.
The work around is simply to retype the search term.
(I've already reindexed my hard disk.)
Best wishes, Jon

This started happening to me only recently.  Same hardware, no OS update - most obvious thing I'd changed recently is that I'd gone from having one (enabled) mail account to two.  Previously it was just one Exchange account, and the new account is a Google IMAP account.  I'm going to test to see if the problem goes away when I disable *either* of them (suggesting the problem is in how Mail.app handles multiple enabled accounts) or if I must specifically disable the Google IMAP account (suggesting the problem is specifically in how Mail.app handles Google and/or IMAP).

“Mail” application "closes unexpectedly" after a few seconds.
I use "Mail 1.3.11" to hnadle my e-mail. It works fine.
This weekend, due to a problem with an address, the server of my University has delivered more than 1000 messages to my account.
When I have opened "Mail 1.3.11" those messages have begun to enter into the "in" mail box. I have stoped it but anyway a good quantity of them have entered.
I have already solved the server issue but now that I want to empty those messages from "Mail 1.3.11" I cannot since the application "closes unexpectedly" a few seconds after opening it without letting me do anything.
How could I open and kept open my "Mail 1.3.11" until I am able to clean it?
    Thank you,

  • Apps shut down after a few seconds, apps shut down after a few seconds

Hi. I have an iPhone 4S running iOS5.1.1. Since the update, all of my apps, including messeges and email, close after a few seconds. I can't send messages, or use any of the apps. I have reformatted the device several times, and also done a fresh install as a new user. I still have the same problem. Can anyone give me suggestions?

Thanks. Tried this and still not working. I can't even send a lengthy sms or email, as EVERY app shuts down after a few seconds. Sometimes it even fails to launch. The battery life is less than 4 hours, even after turning off 3G, wi-fi, bluetooth and cellular data.
It must be a hardware problem, as the phone gets extremely hot as well.
Apple are far from helpful. Their customer service is dreadful, if you live outside of the States. No telephone or email support. Time to flush the phone and buy a Samsung Galaxy 3.

  • Bluetooth Connection lost after a few seconds - EV...

    Hey,
I have an new Nokua Lumia 920. I want to connect my Lumia via Bluetooth to my laptop and in the university I treif to connect it to another laptop, as well as to my old XDA Touch Diamon!
The problem: I can find all bluetooth devices and can also connect to them, BUT every connection is lost after about 5 seconds. This cannot be! Here are my firmware versions - are there issues?
    OS-version: 8.0.10211.204
    firmware-revision-version: 1232.5957.1308.0007
    hardware-revision-version: 1.0.0.0
    radio-software-version: 1.0.202093.3
    chip-SOC-Version: 8960
I am located in germany. Anyone has a hint or solution - phone nearly useless to me without bluetooth.
    Best regards

You do not have to be bluetooth connected to transfer files to and from the phone.
Initiate the trandfer and it will happen. If they have been paired before, no passcode will be required.
Theey won't keep a BT connection because none of the profiles the phone has requires one.

  • Routing lost after a few seconds...

    Hello everybody.
The setup is the following :
    2811 router with ISDN-BRI interfaces and a WIC-1T.
The WIC-1T intf connects via an RS-232 cable to an external Motorola modem.
When remote users dial-in establishing an ISDN connection everything is fine.
When calls come through analog modem connections, call gets established, and PPP negotiation completes successfully.
At that instant and for a few seconds, the (analog) user has network connectivity (at this point tried by continuous pings).
    "Suddenly" replies stop!
Only after disconnecting the call and re-connecting (temporary) routing is reestablished, to get lost again in a while !!
We have tried with-and-without Group-Async (config directly to the Serial intf) but nothing changed.
    Any ideas, anyone ?
The current config - for anyone interested and after many try-outs - is attached...
    Thanx in advance.
    George

  • Mail hangs after a few seconds

Just this evening, about an hour after I downloaded the MobileMe update, my Mail app started hanging after about 4 seconds. Totally unresponsive, beachball of doom etc requiring a force quit. I've tried most of the suggestions I can find here (deleting To-do lists, turning off synching, moving plists, repairing drives etc) but nothing seems to work.
Logic points to the MobileMe update (I have a new 3G iPhone that seems to be working and synching ok), but I'm kind of stuck with no mail on my main machine and was wondering if there was anything else I could do rather than sit in and wait for an Apple update (providing there will be one).
Many thanks in advance (and apologies if I've pasted the wrong part of the report here -I had no idea what to post)

First of all, don't be trying random solutions unless you know what you're doing and why; you'll create a lot of trouble for yourself, and often it can't be fixed without a radical, time-consuming solution.
You seem to have httpmail running as a Bundle for Mail; disable it and then try starting Mail again to see if that resolves the problem. If so, that means you'll have to delete it, since it is conflicting with Mail and will cause it to hang or crash.

  • Mail.app Search "Clearing" After a few Seconds

When I go to search for something inside Mail, I can usually find something just fine, but after a few seconds, Mail's search filter "clears" and the mailbox view goes back to unfiltered list.  This is especially aggravating when reading a message thread in the filtered results, as it will take you from your view of the thread while reading.  I am about at my wits end...
Has anyone seen this before?  Any tips on how I might resolve this?

This started happening to me only recently.  Same hardware, no OS update - most obvious thing I'd changed recently is that I'd gone from having one (enabled) mail account to two.  Previously it was just one Exchange account, and the new account is a Google IMAP account.  I'm going to test to see if the problem goes away when I disable *either* of them (suggesting the problem is in how Mail.app handles multiple enabled accounts) or if I must specifically disable the Google IMAP account (suggesting the problem is specifically in how Mail.app handles Google and/or IMAP).

  • How can I automatically open Mail.app message attachments after downloading

The subject says it all, I think.
    My wish #1
Automatically Opening Mail.app message attachments after downloading
    My Wish #2
At least having the Finder automatically default to the folder I just downloaded to after completing the download.
Is this an option in Leopard, at least?

Very clever. But unfortunately that doesn't seem to work in Tiger.
Then again, I stil presume that when you do that, a ile is still downloaded and appears somewhere on your hard drive. If you "save as" the file opened by preview, you probably still need to go back to the place where the file was saved and delete it.
Then again again, if Preview is peeking into a Word or Excel attachment, it may not actually be "downloading it" first?? Strange. If it was a jpg file attachment, on the other hand, it seems more likely that some sort of file would be downloaded to the hard drive as a result of that drag and drop of the paper clip.
I did find that drag and drop capability interesting, though. Even in Tiger.
Oh well. I have to start looking at scripts.
When I downloaded that Automator application that was supposed to "close all open applications", I was surprised that it didn't work. Says it works with TIger. ???
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/
Was I supposed to import it into Automator as an "action" and save it as an Automator application and then open Automator and click "run" for that action each time I wanted to use it? Seams a bit cumbersome.

  • After iOS7 update I cannot launch the music app. It crashes after a few seconds of white screen. What to do?

Just updated my iPhone 5 (16g) to iOS7 and now I cannot launch the music app anymore.
It opens and then just crashes after a few seconds of white screen.
Also If I go to Settings General About the phone crashes all the time after just a few seconds. :-(
    Andreas

The same for me. iPhone 4S, itunes match and upgrade to ios7 by air.
    So what we have:
    1) Music app does not launch (white screen then close)
    2) About screen crashes (I guess once it tries to calculate music space)
    3) Spotlight does not show any results (no care what I set to search in in the preferences)
    4) iTunes Match slider can not be set to Off. However, it is possible to logout from AppleID, then it off. But this does not change the situaton at all
    5) Podcast app does not launch
I tried to reboot, to sign in with another Apple ID, to turn off itunes Match, to reset all preferences. Nothing helps.
    Things to try:
    - reset all preferences and content
    - reinstall ios7 with itunes from scratch
    - switch to windows phone

That is very strange! Have you been able to get your apps icons back now? Have you attempted a soft reset by holding the power button and home button at the same time until the phone restarts? Keep me posted with the results!

  • When i try to open week cal it loads and then closes after a few seconds...I have checked for updates, turned the phone off then on, closed out of the app and then opened it again...nothing works!  Any suggestions?

When i try to open week cal it loads and then closes after a few seconds...I have checked for updates, turned the phone off then on, closed out of the app and then opened it again...nothing works!  I have thought about deleting the app from my phone and then reloading it again but I worry that it will delete all my calendar info???  Any suggestions?

To reset, press and hold the Home and power buttons until the silver apple appears.
I would delete the app, reset the phone and then download the app again. Your calendar information should be stored on the phone as Week Cal uses the Calendar app information.
    Best of luck.
