Searching in other languages

Hi!
I'm using iTunes 9.0.3
When I switch to Japanese hiragana/katakana or Korean
and type the exact phrase of an artist and press enter it
does not jump even close to anything!
This happens when I use the quick searchfunction without typing
in the "search" field and instead just typing directly.

anybody?

  • Proposal to extend dialer functionality (english and other language for T9 search in dialer)

    Hello.
Here is a proposal to extend functionality of dialer.
In current version T9 dialer language is set to english (always) + some other language (optional ONLY IF menu's language is different fron english).
    For example.
Menu language - english, dialer T9 - english.
Menu language - russian, dialer T9 - english + russian,
Please add possibility to choose language for T9 dialer with menu's language set to english. It is usual option to other dialers.
I want to use english language for phone, but i need both english and russian for T9 dialer.
You need just to add option to dialer's preferences to add T9 language independently to menu's language.
Can you do it in further updates?
    Thanks.

There is no settings for this as standard in the phone.
I will pass your feedback on internally.
For more information about language specific questions I suggest that you contact your local support:

  • Text Messaging in Japanese (or other language with non-Roman script)

Is it possible to send/receive text messages written in non-Roman characters with Verizon?
More specifically, I'm using a Droid 2 with Verizon, and I'm trying to text a friend in Japanese.  She has an iPhone (AT&T), and is physically in the U.S. (so I'm not asking about international text messaging).  I've already installed apps on my Droid (e.g. OpenWNN, or Simeji) to input Japanese, which work fine in and of themselves, and the Droid of course displays Japanese text or other languages just fine on the Browser or in E-mails.
However, I'm having lots of trouble with Text Messaging.  When I send a message containing Japanese text (typed in perfectly fine with OpenWNN or whatever), she either never gets the message, or the text comes out unreadable (as ???????).  Messages with a mix of Roman and non-Roman characters typically show the Roman characters ok, but the non-Roman ones (i.e. Japanese) are garbled.  If she sends me a message containing any non-Roman characters, I generally don't get the message at all (i.e. not even garbled-- just no message at all).   This deficiency seems to be specific to Text Messaging, as far as I can tell.  I can send and receive e-mails containing Japanese just fine, read foreign language web pages, and type in Japanese into search boxes on those web pages and so on with the Droid.  However, sending an e-mail message to (myphone#)@vtext.com, predictably, results in any Japanese text being garbled, though Roman characters come through just fine.
Is this perhaps something specific to Verizon's network?  Or is text messaging in non-Roman scripts just inherently impossible?  My friend says she knows others who can successfully text in non-Roman scripts (e.g. Korean Hangul, Japanese Kana or Kanji), and claims some of these folks are Verizon customers too.  A search on droidforums.com yielded someone who supposedly could text in Korean within Verizon.  So, I'm hoping this is possible, and I'm just missing something. However, this is perhaps all secondhand information and rumor.
(Incidentally, I know for certain that messaging with non-Roman scripts is possible in general.  During my last vacation in Japan, I rented a phone there, and could send messages in English or Japanese scripts.  However, I believe the phones there actually have their own e-mail addresses, and so the service there is more like regular e-mail-- my understanding is that text messaging as we know it in the U.S. is a distinct technology, though I could well be wrong.)
So, to restate my question: is it possible to text message with non-Roman scripts with Verizon?  Has anyone out there done this successfully-- if so what did you do, or what app did you use?  Or is it in fact impossible? (e.g. Maybe text messaging here only uses 7 or 8 bits, instead of 14 or 16 needed to encode all the various Asian, European, and other scripts?)
    Thanks for any help available.

I'm trying to figure this out as well, but my understanding on the matter is that Verizon's CDMA network uses unicode which will display, roman characters, loa, thai, and serveral other languages, but not hirigana, kanji, katakana, or simplified or traditional chinese.  The Romaji should work however.  It would be nice to hear some input from a Verizon rep on the subject, because like you my info is all second hand.
If my understanding is correct, the simple answer is no, it's not possible.

  • Problem in translation to other language

I have worked on a web application using JHeadStart Version 10.1.2.0 and JDeveloper 10.1.2.1.0, I have to translate all interfaces to other language (Arabic), So I generated the (ApplicationResources_ar.proberties) by setting the property (Generator Language Code=ar) in the File (AppModuleAplicationStructure.xml) and re-run the JHeadstart generator and then I replace values of properties on the generated file with there (equivalent unicode values).
Anyway everything was OK, and all interfaces translated to the new language (Arabic) when the user change the default language of Internet Explorer from English to Arabic, Except some buttons labels (GO,Advanced Search,Quick Search,Details) these buttons labels seem in English characters or encrypted characters, I had tried to re-generate the JHeadstart many times but I got the same result. anyone have an idea about this problem please?

If I understand your problem correctly you are using property file for your nls prompts. I had the same problem in using property files but when I changed it to use javaClass and also using AR8MSWIN1256 characterset, it worked fine. You can enter your prompt into application definition and then generate it using java class and not property file. Besides, don't forget to set your regional setting arabic in control panel to arabic both in regional option and advanced tab.
For information about how to change the JHeadstart generator text default you can see the following link : Re: Internationalization-How to change JHeadstart Generator Text default
    Hope it can help,
    Navid

  • Full text search in Chinese Language not finding results

We are translating one of our Webhelp projects into
simplified chinese, and everything is working fine except full text
search. We can type chinese characters into the search box but no
results appear even though we have already translated a lot of the
webhelp into chinese. Note that we have breadcrumbs, TOC and Index
    functioning correctly in chinese.
The FAQ for Robohelp claims that FTS is supported in other
languages but I am stuck - I can't figure out how to make it work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There was some language stuff in those patches that I hoped
would fix your problem, obviously not.
I am not familiar with working with languages. Have you tried
changing the language in Project Settings? Have you tried importing
a couple of topics into a new project?
Beyond that, hopefully someone with more relevant knowledge
    can help you.

  • Cortana in other languages

Hello, Cortana will be available in other languages? For example, Czech?
    Thanks for answers

    Hi,
    Quote from Windows Blog:
Cortana is new to the desktop – things might not work as expected. Also, for this build, Cortana is available for U.S. and English only. Search will work in all languages. But don’t worry, we’ll be making improvements in future builds, adding new capabilities
    and more languages.

    hello,

Since it does not even work in English, I would not worry about the lack of other languages. It probably was a very, very bad effort from a former Dragon employee to get it included in CS4. I just hope they leave it out in CS5, because it only bloats the software without any benefit at all.
Its far from perfect, and I have no use for it myself.  BUt there are are users who like this feature and even in its imperfect state saves them time in their workflow.  Imagine doing a docu with 90 minutes of talking heads and three camera angles.  Searching for a word or phrase by scrubbing would take a long time.  Searching by text is almost instantaneous.  The transcription isnt perfect but it often is close enough to be helpful in this workflow.
Useless for many perhaps; but useful for some.

  • IFS Manager in other languages??

    Dear friends,
I've read about Oracle Internet File System Manager at http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/A97359_01/appladmi.htm#1004903 and it looked great to me.
Does anybody know if this tool is available in other languages (Brazilian Portuguese mainly!) or just in English?
    TIA,

"Unicode support means that the program code level in Crystal Reports is able to recognize language
characters that are based on Unicode.
Unicode is used to display double-byte characters such as the Chinese and Japanese character sets.
This enables you to create Crystal Reports that can display right-to-left languages and multiple
    languages in a single report."
So if your data is in unicode Crystal will be able to properly display the various languages.
If you wanted one single report to be viewed in different languages, then static strings in the report would need to be converted into formula fields which changes the text into the appropriate language based on a language parameter.  Some strings could not be handled in this manner though such as custom prompting strings.

  • Crystal Reports in other languages ...

    Hi
I'm new to crystal reporting my question is can crystal reports (v10 to be specific) present data in other languages like for example Arabic even though your data source is English language? More like translate this data to that language, Is it just a matter of choosing the font when designing or its more complicated than that?
    Thanks

  • Serial number from other language (student edition) on English trial

    Hello,
I am studying in Japan now, therefore I am qualified for purchasing the Student and Teacher's Edition for Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.
The problem is that they only sell the Japanese-language version of the software. I cannot undertand japanese so I need to have the english-language version installed in my PC.
    My question is:
If I download, from the North America Adobe page, a trial version for Adobe Photoshop Elements 8; and then I purchase here in Japan the japanese version of Elements: can I use the serial number corresponding to the japanese version for activating the english-language trial version?
The Photoshop FAQ is not clear to me, since I actually want to continue using the same language as my trial, but using a serial number corresponding to other language version:
I would like to install my product in a different language than the language I installed the product in during my trial period. Can I uninstall and reinstall my application in a different language?
Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements offer the option to install the application in any one of many languages available.
If you would prefer to install a purchased product in a language other than the language you installed during your trial period, you can simply go back to the original installer (whether DVD or Electronic Software Delivery), install the correct language, and then enter your serial number.
If for some reason, it is not possible to use the japanese serial number on an english-language trial version; let me propose another situation:
Considering that I have uninstalled the trial version from my PC, if I am able to borrow an Elements 8's English-language installation CD from a friend, and then, when the serial number is requested, can I use the serial number I received when purchasing the japanese-language edition?
I have searched the Internet and I could not find anything regarding this unusual topic.
I would appreciate it so much if someone could give me some clearance on this matter.
    Best regards,
    Ricardo

Hi, I'm Marko. I am also staying in Japan but I'm not fluent in Japanese language.
I just wanna make sure, does this also apply to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?
I checked through amazon.co.jp that I can purchase the software from there, but it's written that it's a Japanese edition.
I wonder if somehow I buy it, will it be crashed with my non-Japanese PC?
Or as Eduardo said, even though the package (software cover and everything) is written in Japanese, but when I install it in my computer it will offer the English option?
I just got informed about this student edition from a friend. I'm really excited about this but a bit worry if I won't understand all the menu and settings.
I'm looking forward for your answer, thank you.
