Searching in the itunes store

Have set up my iTunes account on a new computer, and now everytime i search the ITunes store for certain bands, I only seem to get tribute acts returning on my search criteria.
Does anyone know why this may be?
thanks

What bands are you searching for? It's quite possible that the bands have not licensed their music to the iTunes Store for download sales. Some bands just don't want to sell via download, or don't want to sell individual tracks (Pink Floyd is one such; they want all their material sold by the album only), or have signed exclusive deals with another download store. If all you're finding are tribute bands, the bands you're looking for are very probably not available in the iTunes Store and you'll have to look elsewhere, either on another download store or to CDs.
Regards.

iTunes 11.0.2.26 will not allow me to do a search at the iTunes store.  How do I fix it?

Stop whining and you're much more likely to get help.
Managing content on the iOS device has not changed in any way with the new version of iTunes.
It is still possible to "drag and drop" content onto the device, my personal opinion is that this is a silly way of managing content.
Simply select the content desired to sync to the device and synce.
IF you really want to "drag and drop" content, then Manually manage content on the device must be select from the summary tab for the device.  Then drag and drop content all you desire.  This may require having the sidebar displayed.  To display the sidebar, type Cntrl + S.

  • Why does search in the iTunes Store on the Mac produce different results than in the new Podcaster app?

If I search in the iTunes Store (in iTunes) on my Mac for this word:
    msworld
I get two Podcasts I can subscribe to.
If I do the same search in the new Podcaster IOS app, I get no matching items as a result.
Does anyone know why or how to solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Problem solved.
It's the new Apple IOS Podcasts app, just released June 26, 2012.
It works fine, and search above works.
    Thanks,
    Alan

  • Why do i get a run time error box pop up and then close itunes when I search in the iTunes store?

Wnen i search in the itunes store, a ren time error pops up and then closes my itunes. why is it doing this? I have to go thru power search to get around the problem and is not as convenient. thanks, Jamboy72

This issue can be caused by the presence of leftover files in the Firefox program folder (defaults\pref) like a file firefox.js that overrides the update URL with a wrong link.
Do a clean reinstall and be sure to remove the Firefox program folder to remove the file(s) that cause the problem.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • THERE IS A RUNTIME ERROR WHEN SEARCHING IN THE ITUNES STORE. R6050

I have windows vista OS. i-tunes 10.6. when searching on the itunes store, there is a Runtime error R6050 and itunes shut down. Anyone can help with this error? I have tried to reinstalled the program already, same problem.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Where is Power Search on the Itunes Store site? I can no  longer find it.

Where is Power Search on the Itunes Store site? I can no  longer find it.

Sharing an app does not give a copy of the app to anybody else, you will only be sharing an image of the app.
It's possible that the developers of those apps have temporarily (e.g. if there is a problem with them or they are putting an updated version in the store) or permanently removed them from the store. Any links that the developer's have on their website should take you to the store, that is the only place that you can download apps for iOS devices.
You could try contacting the developers and see if they are planning on putting their apps back in the store, until if/when they do then your friends won't be able to download them (and you won't be able to redownload them, so if you haven't already done so you may want to copy the app to your computer's iTunes library).

I liked the "Power Search" for music in the itunes store but can't find it in the menu box top right.  How do I search for a song, artist or album now?

  • I get a Runtime error when i try to search within the iTunes store

Please help! When in the iTunes store, I get a runtime error every time I try to use the search feature. I get a dialog box stating that Windows is searching for a solution, but then iTunes shuts down completely.

I have the same error, but I think we will get no solution for this problem.
You've get no answer here and the Apple support also doesn't send an answer how to solve the problem.
BTW I have also Windows 7 and the newest version of iTunes 64-bit.

  • Really annoying: Cannot search in the iTunes Store

For some reason, when I try and search for music in the iTunes store, I get a message that says "iTunes cannot complete your request, please try again later." Well I tried again later, again and again, and still get the same message. It is error message number 499. I can use the links to navigate the store and go different places, but cannot search. I ran the diagnostic thing and it said that everything is working properly, well obviously, it is not. I have heard of the entire store being down, but never just the search function. Perhaps the program is corrupted. If I unistall it and reinstall it, how can I save my iTunes library?

I get the same thing but (to add more details) I am logged into the iTunes Canada site and I get the error code "An unknown error occurred (5002)" I'll post the question to iTunes feedback as well... who knows, they may be working on it already.

  • 8.2 hangs every time I do a search in the iTunes store

iTunes 8.2 seems to be working OK for the most part, except one big thing. EVERY time I do a search within the Store, when it brings up my results page, after 1-2 seconds I get the spinning beachball of application death and the app just hangs. Have to force quit. Other than that, no problem.
Anyone else seeing this, and any idea how I can resolve it? Have upgraded to 10.5.7, have no further software updates to apply, repaired permissions, all that stuff.
I can go to the Store and select a specific item and that seems OK, it’s just the search results.
    Weird, and frustrating.

    Hi,
Do you see the same issue when logged into another user account on the Mac?
Try removing any 3rd-party iTunes add-ons or plug-ins as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22611
If the issue persists in multiple user accounts after removing the 3rd-party add-ons, try reinstalling iTunes as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224

  • Why do search results in the iTunes store and the preview music window fail to load properly?

Since I updated to the second update to iTunes 11, I've had problems with searching in the iTunes store and viewing the previewed music window. It had worked fine in the first iTunes 11 update from iTunes 10 but it has not worked properly since the second update. I've also tried resetting the iTunes store cache but to no avail.

Essentially run iTunes as Administrater once and it should solve the problem going forward.
Go to /Program Files/iTunes and right click iTunes.exe and select run as admin
No need to do it every time, just once and than desktop shortcut icon will open iTunes with solved Store search display problem.

  • Is there a way to link from a podcast in the iTunes library list to the podcast in the iTunes store?

There used to be a link button that did exactly that.  It vanished from iTunes 2 or 3 years ago.  At that time, a number of posts asked how to put it back.  None of the posts I've found had a useful response, so I gather there wasn't.
I'm just wondering if things have changed.
Many podcasts now have multiple entries in the iTunes store - often with similar graphics.  There are times when I want to re-download an episode of a subscribed podcast.  The problem isn't getting to the podcast via a search of the iTunes store.  The problem is determining, when a podcast has multiple entries, which version of the podcast has the episode I want.
    Thanks

As far as I know (not very far, btw) new versions of Java are now only distributed from Oracle specifically for OS X. Apple is no longer updating Java beyond the version distributed with the 2014-001 security update. Java SE Runtime Environment 7 1.7.0_67 is the most recent Oracle release. That's pretty much all I know.

A movie I purchased in the iTunes store is missing. It isn't hidden and doesn't show up in search. I've followed support steps.  Where is it and how do I find it?  I believe I originally purchased the film on my 1st Gen AppleTV...other movies show up. Help.

It was Love Actually. It's been in my library a few years but is now missing. It's odd...it isn't even in the iTunes Store anymore. I think there is a rights issue because a message appeared in the store saying it wasn't available at this time in the U. S. store. Still, if I bought it years ago it should be in my library or I should get a refund....

  • How do I search for a specific artist in the itunes store? I can't find a search bar.

I am trying to find a specific artist who's music I want to purchase but I can not locate a manual search bar to input the artist name. I do not want to nor do I have the time to look through all featured artists to locate the specific artist to purchase. At this point I'm about to go to a brick and mortar store and just buy the CD.
    This is very irritating.
    Chuck D.

If you are missing the Search field you may be missing the entire top section, together with the progress bar when playing and the red, yellow and green buttons. This can happen if iTunes overlaps the top of the screen (which of course it shouldn't do).
If this is the case, click and drag on the very bottom right-hand corner of the window (when in Library/Music or the iTunes Store) and drag upwards to reduce the height of the window. Then click on the bottom bar and drag downwards.
