Searching Prelude Metadata in Pr

I've been playing with Prelude on a new project, looking to add more metadata for when the time comes to edit.
I've been adding comments to clips (as suggested in the adobe video tutorials!) and those comments are apearing in the clips in Pr as expected..... but I can't find any way to search for them.  How can I search the clip metadata added by Prelude in Pr?

OK.....
Have you used clip comments in Prelude?
While playing a clip (in Prelude) you can hit '2' on the keyboard and start typing a comment.  This adds a comment field to the clip within a clip marker.  You can add multiple comments/markers per clip if required, which is useful for marking several 'good' sections (sub clips) within longer clips.
These comments appear on the clip in the source monitor in Premiere Pro, but don't appear to be visible anywhere else in the Premiere Pro metadata panel or the Project panel (regardless of what fileds are made visible).   They also do not appear to be searchable within Premiere Pro.  So, adding comments to clips in Prelude is only useful if you then load all the clips, one-by-one, in to the source monitor in Premiere Pro, because that's the only place you can see them (although they do appear on the clip in the sequence too ).  It's extra metadata that could make life a lot easier, if only it were searchable!

  • Searching custom metadata

    Hello all,
    I have logged a bunch of footage using Adobe Prelude CC and have tagged my clips with custom metadata on ingest.  I can search for and filter my clips as expected within Prelude but, upon sending the clips to Premiere I loose that ability.  I can see that the custom metadata has indeed transferred over to Premiere via the metadata window but I cannot search and filter as expected.
    My two thoughts are I have either logged the clips metadata incorrectly (I used the new CC custom metadata feature on ingest) or I am searching via Premiere incorrectly (through the search bar in the top left of a given bin window).
    I am very new to Premiere having jumped ship after a long love affair with FCP 7, so you will have to excuse me if this is a simple case of user error.

    Unfortunately, that is just not a work flow that I use or am familiar with.  I don't think I can help much with this specific problem, but maybe with a work around.
    My own view is that Prelude has very limited usefulness for a single editor.  Using only native media, without transcoding, I don't think there's anything Prelude can do that PP can't do itself, so I just don't see the purpose of a single user spreading the work out between two different programs.  Where Prelude makes sense is when you have an assistant editor, who can make selects and rough cuts in Prelude for the editor who does the real work in Premiere Pro.  With two people working, then it makes sense to spread the load out to two programs.
    The point I'm working towards is why not just add your keywords right in Premiere Pro?

  • Search using Metadata & Synonyms

    In a document library I've added a metadata column, so tagging information with synonyms can occur.   However, I'm not able to search the document library with the tagged metadata or synonym terms.
    I've created a new managed property within search, enabled use in scopes, and added the ows_ column from my document library.   I feel I'm missing something simple on this one.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Yes using the site search box.
    Also, I've completed a full crawl.
    Originally, I was working within a Content center template.   But, to simplify things I created a team site, and tested with a new document library with just 2 documents.

  • TOP LIMIT FOR "OR" SEARCH IN METADATA FILTER

    Would anyone know the top limit for an "OR" search in the Metadata Filter.  Like if you are searching with keywords, how many keywords can you choose in the same column?  Could it be 20?  50?  I have an iMac with Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and Lightroom 5.
    Thank You For Any Help,
    Thank You,
    Sandy

    I agree with dj_paige.  I just did a quick experiment with a catalog containing 627 keywords:  In the Metadata browser, I added a Keyword column and selected all 627 keywords.  The same number of photos were displayed as when no keywords were selected, which is the expected result.

  • Searching Custom Metadata in Bridge

    Any assistance with the following would be greatly appreciated.
    In Bridge, is there a way to search within custom metadata fields that we have defined using the Find option? In the Find menu, under Criteria, I currently only have the option to search for "All Metadata" (too broad) or by predetermined custom fields like "Altitude, EXIF Color Space, Exposure, etc.". In other words, is there a way for Bridge's Find option to see the custom fields that we have defined in our custom xmp panel? Currently, I can't specify for Bridge to search within a single, custom metadata field.
    Thanks so much.

    I have the same question. I have a custom panel created and I'd like to choose my custom panel in the criteria menu in the find diolog box.
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Searching Custom Metadata in Bridge - Urgent!

    Hi,
    Any help with the following would be greatly appreciated. I have created a custom xmp metadata panel that I am using for assets for a client. In Bridge, is there a way to use the Find tool to search for my custom metadata fields (as compared to the "All Metadata" search or generic metadata category searches)?
    Also, is there a way to save these searches for future use or set up a filter based on custom xmp metadata? Similar to how Bridge's built-in keyword filter works but for custom metadata. It would be great if this could work similar to the current filter palette instead of using the Find tool every time.
    Thanks so much!
    Josh

    Just was looking for this same functionality - was hoping I could add items to the filter and save them out as you were mentioning...

  • Help with searching custom metadata tags

    I have written a Photoshop JavaScript for my employer which allows my users to enter custom information into metadata fields. My intention was to use Bridge to create a searchable asset management system for these files. However, I am running into several problems in allowing my users to search for images with the criteria that they are looking for.
    My first thought was to create my own search dialog which then looks for files whose metadata matches the search criteria. I was able to do this and return an array of thumbnail objects, but to my surprise there does not appear to be a way to create a new window which shows these thumbnails? (without creating a new folder object and copying the files there which would tie up too many resources.)
    My next thought was to create a custom namespace/panel for my metadata. This also works up to a point. I cannot seem to get my custom metadata fields to show up in Bridge's search or filter areas. I see the SDK example for creating search conditions for a custom node, but how can I modify search conditions for "normal" nodes (folders)?
    I'm sure that many of you have run into these issues, there are several posts in this forum and others from people with similar questions. I'm not seeing much in the way of answers, however. Any information would be much appreciated.

    I am no expert, in fact a total beginer with Bridge scripting.
    I have also found that it a problem displaying the required thumbnails. To get around this problem I have used the label rating, changing all the thumnails I don't wont to reject.
    IE:
    var items = app.document.visibleThumbnails;
    for (var i = 0; i < items.length; i++){
    var md = items[i].synchronousMetadata;
    md.namespace = "http://ns.adobe.com/photoshop/1.0/";
    if (md.Keywords != "") items[i].rating=-1;
    This will only show thumnails that do not have keywords so long as the view "Show Reject Files" is not ticked.
    I suppose if you used the rating you could copy them into a field that you could restore from.
    As for the sorting I haven't done much with that except this sort of code should work on custom metadata.
    new SortCriterion("MyDateSort", "date", "http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/", "CreateDate");
    var mySortObj = {};
    mySortObj.name = "MyDateSort";
    mySortObj.reverse = false;
    var mySortsArray = [];
    mySortsArray.push(mySortObj);
    app.document.sorts = mySortsArray;

  • Ability to search specific metadata (from all metadata)

    The ability to search metadata is currently very limited.

    Hi, the File Metadata panel of the Ingest dialog is not available (Prelude CS6 Mac) as mentioned in all Prelude tutorials or Help files. • Searching exif metadata

    Hello all,
    I'm currently checking out the LR 2 demo and so far it looks great. The search seems to be very different from how it worked in LR 1.x and have a question. If I want to select all images with a focal length of between 10 and 20mm, is this at all possible and if so, how? How can I filter images on EXIF data as by default it seems you can only filter on a limited amount of metadata items.
    Thanks!
    Alastair

    That's a shame. The data is there to be searched, why won't you let us search it, Adobe?! I know what lens I use - more often than not it's the Nikon 18-200mm VR. But I would love to be able to select images I've shot between a certain focal length with that lens.

  • Person search to metadata field with search REST API on SP2013 online

    Hi!
    I'm developing a sandbox solution to be deloyed on SharePoint 2013 online. This solution contains a web part for a custom functionality. I have a need to make a query against data in user profiles based on two custom metadata properties (mapped to termsets).
    Is it possible to create this kind of query by using search REST API (with javascript)? So I need all persons whos metadata field
    MyOwnTerms contains specific value(s) passed to search?
    I can get all users with /_api/search/query?querytext='*'&sourceid='B09A7990-05EA-4AF9-81EF-EDFAB16C4E31'very (if i set the rowlimit to very high) and the results contains my cystom field
    MyOwnTerms but there is too much of results to loop through just for filtering. I cannot reduce rowlimit because I need ALL the persons with certain metadata value in this field. Is there any way to make this work?
    .Ana

    I went through the same problem and yes it is possible. In my case, I created a Managed Properties specific to my site column metadata, and assign the value only the label of the column metadata for this managed property. So it returns only the value of
    the name and not the metadata ID | Name as the default.
    So, just move on selectproperties the name of your managed metadata, so it returns the correct value.

  • Spotlight searching RDF metadata inside SVG format

    I have been using Inkscape in place of Freehand (yea I still use Freehand) and am inspired by the idea of open source, they use the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) format of which metadata can be stored within. However Spotlight cannot search the embedded RDF data within SVG and I would like to know if that is the end of the story??

    As long as you have a single line comment, the grep/sed (or Perl) regular expression combination will find the Comment: key/value pair, and isolate just the comment text. It will not matter where in the metadata that the comment occurs.
    I could have sworn late last night that the grep/sed solution was returning a left-justified comment string. This morning it is not stripping the whitespace before the comment text. The following refinement returns only the comment value without preceding whitespace.
    cat test2.md | egrep 'Comment:[ \t]*(.*?)' | sed -e 's/Comment:[ \t]*//'
    In AppleScript, you can assign your do shell script result (comment) directly to the clipboard without needing pbcopy. The following is a simple test that demonstrates this ability. In AppleScript, you will need to escape the tab (\t) character with an additional backslash.
    set extRe to "echo 'Comment:   This is a comment.' | egrep '^Comment:[ \\t]*(.*?)' | sed -e 's/Comment:[ \\t]*//'"
    set the clipboard to (do shell script extRe)
    set somevar to (the clipboard)
    display dialog somevar as text -- could have replaced somevar with (the clipboard)

  • Searching file metadata or file properties

    Does Oracle Text index file metadata? For example, when you select File, then Properties in MS Word, you can specify Author, Subject, Manager and other information. This is "metadata" inside the file.
    Since Oracle uses Stellent's InsideOut Content Access technology and www.stellent.com states that it does indeed pull metadata from all supported file types, does Oracle Text take advantage of this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Ahem, well this is interesting.  I haven't found a way to write a custom panel to display the JobName in CS and make it editable - perhaps a limitation to the panel language.<br /><br />One option is to create a template to apply to multiple files - either through the flyout menu in File Info, Replace in the Advanced panel or via the File Browser > Edit > Replace Metadata.<br /><br />Below is a template that I created.  Best way to create your own is to save a template with the JobName property present, then go in an edit the file to remove the other template data and retain the jobName section as I did below.<br /><br />Edit the jobName value between the tags and rename the template - then use the Replace command to apply it to files in CS.<br /><br />Not a pretty work around.  Otherwise I would suggest using another field going forward.<br /><br />Gunar<br /><br /><?xpacket begin='Ôªø' id='W5M0MpCehiHzreSzNTczkc9d'?><x:xmpmeta xmlns:x='adobe:ns:meta/' x:xmptk='XMP toolkit 3.0-29, framework 1.6'><br /><rdf:RDF xmlns:rdf='http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#' xmlns:iX='http://ns.adobe.com/iX/1.0/'><br /><br /> <rdf:Description rdf:about=''<br />  xmlns:stJob='http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/sType/Job#'<br />  xmlns:xapBJ='http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/bj/'><br />  <xapBJ:JobRef><br />   <rdf:Bag><br />    <rdf:li rdf:parseType='Resource'><br />     <stJob:name>new info goes into here</stJob:name><br />    </rdf:li><br />   </rdf:Bag><br />  </xapBJ:JobRef><br /> </rdf:Description><br /><br /></rdf:RDF><br /></x:xmpmeta><br /><?xpacket end='r'?>

  • Exclude asset in search by metadata

    Hi,
    I'm trying to exclude some assets by a customized metadata.
    The metadata is named for instance 'skipsearch', it has the type of 'checkbox'.
    I'm using predicate to query the repository.
    Here's my code:
    type=dam:Asset
    path=/content/dam/geometrixx
    property=jcr:content/metadata/./skipsearch
    property.value<>true
    This works in single group, BUT returns empty when in multiple groups: (see the code below)
    fulltext=product
    group.p.or=true
    group.1...
    group.2...
    group.3_group.type=dam:Asset
    group.3_group.path=/content/dam/geometrixx
    group.3_group.property=jcr:content/metadata/./skipsearch
    group.3_group.property.value<>true
    Any thoughts?

    I too have this problem and I too can get the filter to work by opening the map module then returning to the Library. I think dj_paige is correct with the "sticking filter" as I can repeat the problem by;
    - Enter map module,
    - Right click on the filmstrip and selecting All Photographs
    - Click Visible On Map on the Location Filter at the top of the page
    - Enter Library module, and select Library Filter
    - Right click on the filmstrip and select any folder.........the Metadata now does not work,
    - Enter Map module again and notice the Location Filter is now set to None and the metadata filter will work in the library module
    I hope this may aid Adobe in fixing the problem?

  • How to search transcription metadata in multiple clips?

    Working a on documentary with 20 hours of Scarlet interview footage.  We've had a transcription service type everything out and I have synced the anaylasis with the script.  My question is, can I search for a keyword and have it jump through all the instances from clip to clip?  Currently, I'm having to select a clip and see if anything is highlighted.  If not, I click the next one, and so on.  Is there a better way to do this?  My coworker is convinced it's best to put all the transcripts in in a note file and search it that way, but I'm hoping Adobe has a good solution for this, as I can a see a benefit to their current implementation.
    Thanks
