Searching through highlight content

I would like to view the content of my highlights in the comment summary bar without having to resort to having the content copied to the highlight as a comment. This comment on text is primarily redundant, and secondarily annoying as the comment-in-text image often obscures other lines of text.
I often view PDFs with Goodreader on my iPad and Acrobat on my desktop.  Goodreader shows the content of the highlights in its annotation summary by default. It has separate functions to comment in text. When files created on Acrobat with these comment-in-text highlights are transferred to Goodreader the content is now triply redundant.
Excuse me if I'm being unclear, but this may be a personal issue rather than a practical issue, and it is coming out as such.
Thanks for any help and time

hi,
this feature should work out-of-the-box, in fact in portal 10.1.4 oracle text is enabled by default (for performance reasons). one thing that can happen if you turn it on in the admin UI is that the selected page groups do not get indexed immediately. by default the indexing is done every hour. so it takes some time until the content gets indexed.
here the procedure to update the indexes manually from SQL*Plus in the portal schema: wwv_context.sync();
if this does not work i strongly suggest to open a new service request with oracle support services to analyze the problem.

christian

  • Searching in Oracle Content DB

  • Searching multi-media content in IFS

Is it possible to search multi-media content
    in IFS? For example:
"Find all audio clips with a trumpet in it",
or - "Find all video clips with whales in it"??
Any help in answering this would be greatly appreciated.

(Hey, here's proof that I really do search the archives before posting. :-))
Moments ago, I was asked ...
Do you know if Oracle UCM has the capability to do speech recognition & transcription of audio and video files, and then make that transcription searchable?
So somebody checks in a piece of video, which presumably passes through FlipFactory on a refinery: can FlipFactory do anything fancy with the audio portion?
Likewise, if someone checks in an MP3 file, has anyone figured out how to get the content server to pass it through speech recognition and index the result?
My gut call would be to start out by passing, say, an MP3 file through some speech recognition software that produces an N%-accurate text file (before working with the content server). Then one approach would be to checkin in the MP3 & text file as the primary & alternate files respectively for a new content item: the content server would then index the alternate file, would it not? Another approach would be to create a folio of these two separate items.
Perhaps searching the recognized speech of a video clip could work in a similar fashion?
How did you solve this issue? :-)
    Thanks!

  • Cannot search mail message content

In Snow Leopard, I used to be able to choose "from", "to" "entire message", "subject". I can't seem to do this with mail in Lion.
Afyter typing in a search term, I get a drop down as I'm typing which shows "people". I presume that is from or to, but no way to find a word that is in the content of a message or a subject.
    Can anyone help please?

    Followup...
I had previously had WideMail installed. It should just be disabled in Mail under Snow Leopard. However, I downloaded it again and used the Installer Dmg to Uninstall the program.
"Entire Message" is now selectable again.
However, the performance is horrible. Searching through my Gmail Inbox which only has around 200 messages takes several minutes. The other searches seem to have reasonable performance.
Now honestly... this makes no sense to me. There doesn't seem to be a logical connection between the two. However, those were the steps and that was the result. It seems more likely that something else changed in the background while Mail was down.

There doesn't seem to be a way to delete the app and start over.

    Hey PlayerPS,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like the application you are looking for is indeed still on your iPhone. You can confirm this by searching in the Spotlight Search for this application. It may have accidentally been moved to a folder, or an additional Home screen:

    Hey there
"pdf creator" for iPad works flawlessly for me working with pdf files
It takes care of all my needs
I'm not sure about sending via Wifi or Bluetooth but I send them via e- mail all the time
Possibly it could handle your needs as well
Just type it into the App Store search field and the first one that comes up is the one I use
Jump on over there and read up on it before buying and see if it will help you

  • Automatic Area of Search through finder?

By default, every time I try to search through spotlight in finder, it automatically searches "This Mac". I was wondering if there was a way to have it search in whatever folder I am currently in like it did in OS 10.3. Instead it comes up searching my hard drive and I have to manual click on whatever folder I am in. Also, does anyone know how to make it so if you have something typed into spotlight in finder, it will stay in the search box instead of erasing whenever I move to another folder. It makes it very agitating to have to retype in the file name each folder I switch to. This is also another thing that had changed from OS 10.3. If anyone has any way to help me on either of these problems, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

If you did this is applescript, you'd need to call unix through do shell script anyway, so don't bother with applescript.  just use mdfind directly.  e.g.:
    # finds files that have a metadata attribute called MyKeyword with value DesiredValue
    mdfind "MyKeyword == DesiredValue"
    # finds files that have a metadata attribute called MyKeyword whose values start with Desi
    mdfind "MyKeyword == 'Desi*'"
    # finds files that have some metadata attribute whose value contains redVal
    mdfind '*redVal*'
to make a smart folder just do a search in the Finder and then save it to the desktop (careful, it will default to saving it in the sidebar, which will put it in some funky folder down in you library).  once you've saved it you can open it in a text editor or plist editor to see the contained mdfind command.  Then it's just a question of modifying the right keywords.  I have an applescript somewhere that does it, but it's not all that useful - almost as easy to make the smart folder by hand in the Finder, and there's no way to extract the files from the smart folder once you've made it.

    Hi,
You can use Custom View and XML filter to filter specific event logs. Firstly, create a custom view. Then type an XML query to filter by ObjectName (abcd.txt).
For more detailed information, please refer to the article below:

Execute the above query on the DB directly and see if that brings up the results .>
It looks like you may not have followed Srinath's instructions exactly. You edited your query to include a schema namespace, which defeats the purpose of running the query that the system is actually attempting to execute. Please run the exact query that was requested, since that's the query the system is actually running.
If you run the query as posted in the original error (and included in Srinath's request), I would expect it to fail, as it appears to be malformed (see "DocMeta., RevClasses."). The trailing dots are probably the issue, and they shouldn't be there.
If you cannot execute a search directly in the Content Server interface successfully, please post which search engine is being used. The query above is actually part of a query called a datasource. This particular datasource has been used for many years and is quite stable. I'd imagine that something else (like a customization or some other productized component) is the culprit, especially if the standard search within the Content Server itself is no longer working.

Just to be clear. You have downloaded the Yosemite installer. However you say while it's updating you get the error you are not online. This is confusing since you shouldn't be able to use your computer in the process of updating.
Exactly where do you see you need to 10.9 to get on Safari?

  • Using Oracle Text to search through WORD, EXCEL and PDF documents

    Hello again,
What I would like to know is if I have a WORD or PDF document stored in a table. Is it possible to use Oracle Text to search through the actual WORD or PDF document?
    Thanks
    Doug

Yes you can do context sensitive searches on both PDF and Word docs. With the PDF you need to make sure they are text and not images. Some scanners will create PDFs that are nothing more than images of document.
Below is code sample that I made some time back to demonstrate the searching capabilities of Oracle Text. Note that the example makes use of the inso_filter that is no longer shipped with Oracle begging with Patch set 10.1.0.4. See metalink note 298017.1 for the changes. See the following link for more information on developing with Oracle Text.

  • HIGHLIGHTING WORDS AND DICTIONARIES SUPPORT - Search and highlight words in the PDF documents

One of the things that Adobe people don't understand very well, is they focus and focus and focus constantly in adding new "cool" features to the product... as more flash support... etc. etc.
But Adobe still pending to make easier the life of people that work with tons and literally tons of PDF documents.
Students, researchers, law professors, academics... they all need a solution to search and highlight in different colors, for certain words in a lot of documents.
So here we have a challenge for the Adobe folks.
Let's imagine you are working in a Law Office, ok? (you're lawyer, not programmer)
    You have a trial tomorrow...
The trial is about robbery (for example)
Now you are looking for Jurisprudence (other similar cases that were judged before)...
And let's imagine you have a folder with 200 cases in 200 PDF files, talking about robbery, between the years 2005-2009
Now, let's imagine you are interested to search the words:
    CONVICTION
    KIDNAPPING
    ASSAULT
    FAILURE
    CRIME
    SUBPOENA
How do you do that Adobe folks?
Reading the 200 documents? one by one, having to drink all the ink of the documents, line by line...
Or, could you, please, allow Adobe Acrobat 10 can handle dictionaries of words, and allow the users, to search and highlight those words in folder of PDF documents.
Of course!!! you'll tell me, oh, you can accomplish a search of the desired words and Acrobat will search them for you in a lot of documents in a folder...
And I'll reply you! oh! that is not enough!
    And do you know why?
Just simpley because I need to see all the information highlighted in a context...
If I see the word CRIME in red close to FAILURE... also in red I can see that something wrong is happening with that trial, for example...
Do you understand now that searching single words in a lot of documents is not enough, and you have to improve URGENTLY this feature?
Highlighting the words the users need to search in a folder of documents, allow INTENSIVE RESEARCH AND SAVE HOURS AND DAYS AND EVEN MONTHS OF HARD WORK TO THE USERS.
In that way, you don't have to read the whole document, you just go directly to the highlighted parts.
I've been submitting this feature since Adobe Acrobat 6!!!! No one in Adobe listened to me!!!
I sincerely don't know why these forums are opened, must be an idea of someone from marketing, because finally, Adobe don't implement any specification from the users.
I am absolutely sure, Adobe folks will present the 10 version as something pretty cool, with more flash support and more graphic stuff.
But, as always, withouth helping the real people that work extensively with large amounts of documents.
So I hope, Sirs, Madams of Adobe, please, now yes, you give support to this feature once and for all !!!
    Thanks

Adobe does listen to users, but it listens to 10 users more frequently than 1 user. It listens to 1000 users more frequently than 10. Get everyone you know that works for lawyers to post the request in the Adobe wish form (where Adobe tabulates user requests).
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Then maybe it will appear in Acrobat 11. If it is not in Acrobat 10 by now it is probably too late in the upgrade cycle for it to get in.
